honey86: Thank you jare. Are you done with your program now?
Yes i am. When you talk about people who gained from service, i did because i served in Lagos and worked in a place that was inline in my chosen career.
I have every reason to say NYSC was great but that would be selfish of me because for every one person that serves in Lagos, there are 15 other people who are in places where they are completely wasting their time.
NYSC › Re: Corpers - We Wasted One Year Serving Nigeria by AZeD1(m): 3:25pm On Mar 08, 2013
Nysc is a waste of time and resources. The program should be scrapped.
Politics › Re: Benin Airport For Commissioning Tomorrow by AZeD1(m): 11:27am On Mar 08, 2013
Why does every thread have to be GEJ vs Fashola or pdp vs apc? I'm a big GEJ critic and if i want to criticize, i shouldn't have to compare him to Fashola.

To more serious issues, someone should please address this guys complains...
Kx: I used Benin airport precisely on wednesday, ie 2 days ago and in all honesty, I did not see what exactly they ll be commissioning o.
Politics › Re: Omotosho Power Plant Ready For Commissioning by AZeD1(m): 10:07pm On Mar 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: My friend, there's no sentiment here. OBJ lead this country for 8 SOLID YEARS. When he was elected in 1999, epileptic power supply was our major problem. If he couldn't complete the building of new power plants within 8yrs, then he deserves no commendation. It means that during those 8yrs he got his priorities WRONG. 8yrs is not 8days.

If GEJ cannot complete the 2nd Niger Bridge in 8yrs, then the president that comes and complete it will take all the credit. Because, a govt that could not complete a project in 8yrs, may as well not complete that project in 20yrs time if allowed to stay put.

Its not that there should be no continuity in govt, but within 8yrs, the OBJ govt should have been able to COMPLETE and commission many of those plants.

If I may ask, who takes credit for the uncompleted and moribund Ajaokuta steel complex?
If GEJ doesn't solve the corruption problem would you say he failed?
Politics › Re: Omotosho Power Plant Ready For Commissioning by AZeD1(m): 10:06pm On Mar 07, 2013
thelastPope: OBJ left six years ago after ruling for. Years. He had 8 years to fix power. Are you saying 8 years is too short to fix power? He failed, simple! He deserves no credit. I can give him credit for Telecoms reform. But he failed in the power sector. A massive failure there. Yaradua failed even more. There was no single progress for 3 years. Even the road map OBJ passed was abandoned by Yaradua. He spent his time reversing OBJ's policies.

Now these projects are all getting the desired attention and coming to life. The credit totally goes to GEJ. Its like giving credit to Bush for the killing of Osama Bin Laden. He chased Osama for over 7 years and a lot of the information Obama used came from Bush era. But do you see anyone give the credit to Bush? Only in Nigeria you will see hypocrites trying to do that because they hate GEJ just because he is not a Yoruba or Hausa man. Its people like you that betrayed us and allowed them to collect 83% of our oil blocks.
Well thats the way they blame Obama for their economic problems. I'm all for giving all the praise to GEJ but then when i blame him for anything don't give me the " this started before GEJ bla bla"
Politics › Re: Omotosho Power Plant Ready For Commissioning by AZeD1(m): 9:42pm On Mar 07, 2013
Eko Ile: Slow down angry son of odechukwu. This project was awarded before your drunken fisherman uncle became the president of Nigerian.

Without Yaradua's ideas and initiatives to think up and award this project, there won't be any power plant for your useless and incompetent uncle to commission.
Obj awarded the contract, YarAdua paused it, GEJ revived it.
Politics › Re: Omotosho Power Plant Ready For Commissioning by AZeD1(m): 9:38pm On Mar 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The haters will soon come and tell us to give credit to Lord Lugard for initiating the project and Pa Awolowo for conceiving the idea.

I wonder who will now take credit for the Ajaokuta Steel Complex that has been uncompleted for decades and presently moribund? Nobody. But when GEJ manages to complete it, haters will bring up 100GB files to show how the project was started by Lord Lugard in 1914.
You keep on telling us that GEJ should not be blamed for the problems of Nigeria as they were already there before he became president and i agree with that sentiment but won't it be proper to acknowledge who started the project?

You always call APC supporters hypocrite but your behavior doesn't prove you are any better
Properties › Re: Omonile Lawyer's Rant Regarding The Demolition Of Houses In Epe by AZeD1(m): 5:28pm On Mar 07, 2013
OP
I think both parties are out fault. The government because of the "hoarding" of information by some of the staffs. There are actually "some" good staffs.

I blame the people because we Nigerians like to take shortcuts. I have a relation who is an architect and he was telling me about projects he has done in some areas of lagos. That area has been marked for agricultural purposes so if you build a house, you would not get a genuine C/O. The people who he built houses for and those in that area know that the land is meant for purely agricultural businesses but they are on God instead of doing the right thing.

I'm 99% a GEJ critic but guys power sector contracts/projects take time. I don't expect our power problems to be over by 2015(not because GEJ is clueless) but because power is a capital intensive sector with low profit margins.

On another note, where are the mumu's who told us that the jamboree disguised as GGT was a good thing? Why does the FG have to send a "crack" team around the country when the GGT carnival is not yet over?

ConcernMan: sometimes I wonder the level of intelligence and exposure of some people in this forum like a pig and slowpoke like you. I need to remind you that during the ugly economic recession in 2008 in American, The Holywood was one of the driving force of the American economy. It was as solid as a rock despite the economic odds. Don't you think that there is need for Nigeria to record serious breakthrough in the movie industry just as they have done in the music industry. The movie industry is a billion dollar industry waiting for the right investment to make it viable.
Stop condemning slavishly and try to reason for once with your brain
Was it FG funds that were used to "develop" the music industry?

Billyonaire: Do not derail the thread. I want you to understand that Government is for the people, without the people, there is no need for Government. And if the Government fails to be for the people, such government has no reason for being there. All that these helpless people want is not feeding money from Government, far from it, they just need a little space to pitch their tents, a place they can cook their basic indomie, a place they can close at night to avoid mosquitoes and rape.
Dude i understand what you are saying but i tell you that if government had told those people to relocate to somewhere at Badagry, most of them would have said no.
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 1:25pm On Mar 04, 2013
Billyonaire: And if they dont have a building plan they deserve to be homeless, sleep on bare floors, and die of mosquito bites ? Dont you have human sympathy ?
Government and sentiments don't work together. As a human being, i sympathize with them but Government decisions and not made on sympathy.

Why don't you campaign for a law that would require poor people who steal or commit any crime from being prosecuted?
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 1:16pm On Mar 04, 2013
Billyonaire: Simple Answer: Government decides what is illegal or not illegal. Once upon a time, Maroko was legal, then turn illegal, then legal again. The poor people need alternative place to pitch their tents.
Dude we've talked about it before, if you have a building plan approval the Government cannot demolish your house without compensation.

Simple question:
Where those structures illegal?

Geez with people like you, how does the nation move forward? Why are they graduates if they still have to be trained again? Why can't whatever they are going to teach them be made a compulsory course in all universities?
Stop supporting mediocrity.

Oh, lest i forget, you were part of the people list creation of 9 new universities as one of the achievements of GEJ.

sucess001: either you are being mischeivous or plain stewpid. you expect dem to sleep in the sun till the housing estate is completed? or which house built by the lagos state government is ever less than 10 million naira. how re they to afford that?
Either you are being mischeivous or plain stewpid. You don't know Government is not run on sentiments? Everybody is claiming they are poor and yes they are poor but does being poor means you should build illegal structures?
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 11:35am On Mar 04, 2013
New York city is an expensive place yet the government built projects in different borrows to house the poor and low income. Most people clapping for Fashola are doing it out of tribal sentiment forgetting that the people living in those Slums are majority of their own people.
I'm guessing you did not read the part where it was said that 1008 housing units are to be built in that place.
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 3:21am On Mar 04, 2013
Billyonaire: We must always try to show them the truth, and enlighten them. It is a task for you and I and the other well-lettered nairalanders who see beyond sentiments must do.
Talking sentiments is not the same as the truth. In a law court, there is nothing like sentiment.
Question for you and babyosisi

Were the shanties illegal?
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 1:28am On Mar 04, 2013
babyosisi: I ask you again, can a hungry man fight?
What happened in Odi when they fought?
A chief in makoko was killed in his own home by Fashola's agents
That is what happens to the poor when they fight
The fuel riots of last year had a few killed
If one of those were your brother would you appear in another demonstration?
Some of you ask unreasonable questions

Who do you even refer to as the poor when most graduates in Nigeria are hopeless and jobless
Most people are underemployed and the working class and retirees are owed arrears in salaries
poor or close to poverty in Nigeria is a state that describes most so you are basically describing over 80% of the populace
So rather than fight the hungry man should stay hungry? You have to fight for your liberation and in Nigeria, all politicians know that nobody wants to die hence they commit all manner of atrocities because they can get away with it.
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 1:15am On Mar 04, 2013
Billyonaire: Granted, most of the houses destroyed were illegally located and/or did not meet up Government plan, but government owes the electorate basic amenities, and the poor people did not advocate for these amenities, they simply need a cushioning, an alternative place to pitch their tents. Must we let our poor sleep in the open, under the unfriendly whether ? Is this too much to ask for ?
Now we are talking. The next question is if those structures were illegal, how do you deal with it. The state doesn't have unlimited funds so decisions have to be made which include(but not limited to)
a)Leave the place as it is (Which hinders development)
b)Demolish the place (which they have done)
c)Compensate the settlers (which will encourage the growth of more slums)
Politics › Re: Fashola Destroys Slums In Lagos, Leaving Thousands Homeless by AZeD1(m): 1:09am On Mar 04, 2013
babyosisi: That is the whole summary of the situation
2/3rds of Lagos is slum
Until Nigeria gets their act together, nothing will change
He has a lot of demolishing to do
You can't loot the treasury and share the money in the land with with your gang and pretend to be doing something
Who are they deceiving ?
Planting flowers and reclaiming Atlantic ocean for the rich will only take you so far when 75% or more of the inhabitants are dirt poor.
Start by providing clean drinking water and affordable healthcare
All this gidi gidi Gbam Gbam grandstanding no be am
What have the poor people done to change their situation? If government is stealing your money and you don't fight who will fight for you?
