Webmasters › Re: Should Facebook And Twitter Pay Tax In Nigeria? by AZeD1(m): 1:37am On May 24, 2013
manny4life: Granted that you can't tax transactions done over the cyberspace unless there's physical presence (that's why Amazon and some others don't), but that's not what we're talking about. Advertising revenues from Nigerian advertiser that go to Google and Yahoo and Facebook and Twitter and their likes should be taxed. It's taxable revenue/income (after expenses).
Its not taxable because there's no presence. If all countries adopt this method, nairaland would close within a day because I'm pretty sure someone in Turkey visits nairaland daily.

Mr. Man & Mrs. Woman, what are we talking about here?

If all of us shld start getting married now and child bearing is not the priority, what then happens to the commandment given by God above?

I read the guys piece and he gave GEJ a C in power and infrastructure but an F in health, security and education.

The recent jamb results gives credence to the F in education
Boko Haram gives credence to the F in security

As for health with all the imporvements Reno is talking about, why wasn't Patience treated in Nigeria?

Afam4eva

I understand you cos i can relate with you. To your questions
Afam4eva: Basically i want to know what guys use and what they're called. I need items ranging from:
1) Body cream, Perfume, hair cream - I can't remember the last time cream touched my body. Lolgrin
Body cream is body cream, anyone would do...If you have sisters, buy what they use

2) Hair styles - whenever i go to my barber, he just starts barbing away because he knows that i don't do any special style. My own is just to uproat the hair on my head.
Tell your barber to cut something that fits.

3) Wears(shirts, pants etc)
Just wear polo's and jeans

Sincere 9gerian: Come and see wonders! So "AIRHEADS" can also create threads? Incredible!

Meanwhile, that article is sermon from Tinubu's temple
Stop being a hypocrite.. I can bring up numerous threads where you say people should attack the message not the messenger. Disprove the report card and leave the messenger alone.

By the way, i think the report card is a fair.
Politics › Re: How Is Your State Governor Fighting Corruption? by AZeD1(m): 6:06pm On May 03, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I thought the thread was going to die since no one was interested in having any debate besides pouring out emotions and partisan or ethnic sentiments. I was surprised to see the thread on the front page. So far, less than 1,000 views, even after being on the front page for sometime. This goes to show that some people are not really interested in any healthy debate or in sincerely solving any problem.

Guess what! Even those notorious ID who go on and on about corruption in Nigeria have carefully avoided this thread. The few that contributed were only interested in attacking either IDs or as usual, GEJ.

I made a non-partisan opening post, expecting sensible responses that'll generate a debate but the early responses completely derailed the thread.

The governors are having field days because of lack of pressure from either the people, civil society groups or the media. Everyone is concentrated on Abuja. But the state governors and their respective local govts cart away about 50% of national resources every month. They'r closer to all of us but why are we not interested in what they do and how they go about their businesses? Once the names of certain state governors are mentioned on this platform, what you'll get is abuses and insults. Why this PROTECTION of governors? Is that how democracy will deliver?

The anti-corruption bodies were set up at the national level because of pressures from the international community. Without pressure, even the best of leaders will relax. Why cant such pressures be mounted also on state governors?

Some people have asked what my state governor is doing about corruption. I reside in Enugu and to be honest, I'v not seen the state govt here do anything to tackle corruption. Those who have privilleged information can correct me. The governor of Enugu state is like an emperor, just like most governors. The case of Enugu is even worse because there's NO pressure for any opposition. The opposition parties are virtually non-existant. Civil society groups are also non-existent. I dont know of any due process for awards of contracts. Its like everything here is done in secrecy and at the whims and caprices of the governor. Yes, freedom of information bill has been passed but I'v never heard it mentioned here. I think some groups tried to bring it to bear the last time the governor was away for health reason but there was no result. The law has not even been domesticated, though some are of the opinion that it is unnecessary to domesticate it, but some states have done that. However, this does not mean the governor is not performing because that is a different matter.

My home state is not too different except that the governor there is less an emperor since there is resistance from opposition parties and other groups in the state. People generally believe the governor of Anambra is tight fisted, he's not flamboyant or wasteful. But like other governors, he distributes funds, even if for good purposes, at his whims and caprices.

In conclusion, I did not create this thread to witch hunt any governor but just to awaken in our consciousness the need to pay more attention at what happens at govts closer to us. Govts at the state level should run like an INSTITUTION, not one man show. Governors can also fight corruption and the same pressure we exert at the federal level should also be exerted on state governors.
This is how you should have started. I will now contribute my own quota to the debate even though i suspect your motive for opening the thread.
My home state Governor is a thief and he should be locked up in a place where the sun doesn't shine. I used to reside in Lagos and why i know that Fashola steals money, i also know he has done a lot of work in the state. This is not dem say or Nairaland post but what i saw with my own eyes.

Politics › Re: Osun Names Airport After Abiola by AZeD1(m): 12:08pm On May 03, 2013
misterh: This is not about remaining stagnant. It's called scale of preference in basic economics. There are better issues to contend with. The capital city, Osogbo is the only place where enough economic activities take place. Others are just small towns where majority of the people there are low income earners. It's not to bulid airports but will airlines patronise your airport?
Lots of ignorant folks in Nigeria. I'm with you bro, an airport in Osun is pointless and useless.
Politics › Re: Osun Names Airport After Abiola by AZeD1(m): 12:05pm On May 03, 2013
jummy05: Chief, perhaps you dont know.Airport is just one of the necessary facilities to facilitate trade and investment in the country. That is part of discerning investors consider before making their investment decision.
Big lie..You don't need an airport in Osun state. Building airports in state like osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Abia,Bayelsa and them northern states is useless and waste of public funds.
Politics › Re: What Are The "Sins" Of President Jonathan? by AZeD1(m): 11:26pm On May 01, 2013
Gej sins are too much to mention but i'll write a few
1) Lies:
Subsidy according to GEJ and his cohorts was supposed to be removed on April 1st, we all know what happened.
The health saga of his wife.

2) Cluelessness
Who makes statements like boko haram are in my government, terrorist are everywhere and the 6 millions foolish statements that GEJ has made on boko haram?

Other notable mention:Leadership by example
We all know the civil service is over bloated and the Steve Oransonye(sp) committee said as much yet GEJ who should fix this refuses to lead by example. His wife is a permanent secretary in his own state(part of the countries in effective civil service.) A good leader would have told his wife to resign because she is not setting a good example(she has been on leave of absence since 1999).

[size=14pt]That still doesn't make "southerner" a tribe. A foreigner who enters here might think it's actually the name of a tribe in Nigeria. A lot of people here are mixed and they either named both tribes or named their Father's tribe becase in Africa, we're from our Father's side.

[size=14pt]What sort of ignorance is this? What tribe is called "southern"? I noticed someone else used it. I think both of you are from the same place.

I mixed...Right from my granparents...Mum/dad are from different tribes. Grand-parents on both sides also from different tribes.

Besides, if you meet me in person and ask for my tribe, my answer would either be i'm a Nigerian or "i'm from any place i find myself."

This is bullsh*t.
So every woman who says her husband has never hit her is lying?

The author should note that if her marriage did not work out it doesn't mean other people's own did not work out.
