Our reps have no idea of business. You cannot legislate people out of poverty. Best way to stop DSTV is to increase competition and that can be achieved by 1) Making it easy for people to set up a business 2) Access to cheap loans 3) Electricity / infrastructure. |

Some people gathered 14 persons kept them in one house in SA, and some other people in Nigeria are buying fuel with their money to watch them and still vote with their money. They also were busy recharging their DSTV subscription so that they won't miss an action. Is he also going to say the NJC has no power to investigate petitions made on judges and make its pronouncements before further action is taken because they are also subject to the provisions of the Constitution?
The NASS must be and is in fact able to activate an internal investigation and disciplinary mechanism for its members particularly on the conduct of any member as in the case of Ali Ndume. Assembly members are elected NJC members are appointed. Big difference. It's ignorance to compare the two of them. |
Politics › Re: Antonia Okafor Taking America's Political Scene By Storm by AZeD1(m): 2:38pm On Mar 31, 2017 |
ttmacoy: This is not advocating for guns to be allowed on campus or not, but saying no guns means you don't need to protect yourself isn't correct e.g. look at London where guns are not easily available yet knife killings persist. Also those criminals who really want one are still able to get guns though underground means.
While not at the level of the US, there has been an increase in gun shootings as well in London. I said you don't need to protect yourself from someone with a gun. You cannot eradicate crime so its best to limit it, now in London your best option is a knife and the question is can you enter a club and kill 30 people with a knife? No but with a semi - automatic, once you start shooting, even people with guns will duck before they remember they have a gun. |
Politics › Re: Antonia Okafor Taking America's Political Scene By Storm by AZeD1(m): 9:42am On Mar 31, 2017 |
paschu: Unfortunately the reality is that gun ban only prevents GOOD people to pursue self-defence. But it does not stop bad people from procuring guns. If it did, we would not have armed robbers and other terribly armed anti-social groups.
Thus a blanket ban on gun simply gives the bad guys a monopoly on violence; and makes the good people weak, vulnerable and cut off from self-defence. Check out gun violence in Australia after the they banned gun. Also check out gun violence in the UK |
Politics › Re: Antonia Okafor Taking America's Political Scene By Storm by AZeD1(m): 9:07am On Mar 31, 2017 |
paschu: Sure, of course. Not everybody is stable enough to handle the responsibility that comes with the freedom to carry weapons legally.
But that's also the reason guns are hardly sold to every dick and harry in the US. I'm aware that there's a measure of background check that goes into play before a gun is purchased, at least in some states.
So, rather than banning guns on campuses (a rule the nut jobs will flout anyway throug illegal gun rings) why not use legislation to ensure that most of those mentally unfit people and minors cannot purchase gun in the open market? The problem of gun death cannot be solved by bringing out more guns. If nobody is allowed to carry a gun, you wouldn't need one to protect yourself. |

ElsonMorali: I'm sorry to say but the demise of that language is only just a matter of time. I don't hate Igbo or anything but those who know, know that that is just the simple truth.
I've noticed that Igbos have an inordinate amount of inferiority complex to the white man. Hence they revere more than other Nigerians things associated with the white man.
A case in point. I've hardly met an Igbo person who proudly bore his/her native name.
Almost all of them bear English names as their first name proudly and insist to be identified with that name only.
I've dated an Igbo girl who sniffed at my native Yoruba name that I bear quite proudly and kept reinforcing her English name in the same sentence asking me If it wasn't beautiful and that If we got married we'd name our kids beautiful sounding English names.
I just smiled to myself smh Really hard for her. Has nothing to do with inferiority complex and more to do with Religion. 1 Like |

Zejie: They have the right to summon him. Its part of their duty as senators under the powers of the National assembly in the constitution 89c, it says that the senate has the right to summon any NIGERIAN to give evidence concerning any matter under investigation by the senate. In 89a, it states the type of evidence and it includes oral. Prof Sagay said the current senators are irresponsible and are just there for vanity. What the senate is doing is investigating if they are irresponsible and he should appear to show evidence of their irresponsibility. Section 89 says " For the purposes of any investigation under section 88 of this Constitutional " You see section 89 refers to section 88 which means you can't interpret section 89 without interpreting section 88. Now go and read section 88 and review your comments. |

Doriana2: You still don't get it. Successfully running a country is not related to how wealthy you may have become. Wealth can be acquired through unscrupulous means. Your mental ability to process information, proffer solutions to problems and apply them decisively is important. You graduated means you can answer questions that have a solution. Being a leader is a whole different level. Judging leadership qualities based on academic excellence is the height of stupidity. You might be a graduate but you are not smart |
