Bhadmus7:
Good day Nairalanders..My Brother registered for jamb this year, and picked UNIABUJA for Medicine..but ended up scoring 248 (probably due to the mass failure, because he is very intelligent and read really hard).

The question is can he be admitted into his school of choice even with 248, judging with the mass failure this year.

NOTE: The initial plan was for him to go to Unilag and change his institution after jamb

I need your advise People
Should he go on with UNIABUJA
What are his chances of getting admitted into Medicine with that score.
What are his chances also, pertaining to UNILAG.

That score should be good enough to get into Medicine at UNIABUJA, especially in a year where so many candidates didn't do well.

There are many reasons why men cheat. About 90% of the time it has nothing to do with the wife. Mostly it's high libido which one woman alone may not be able to satisfy regardless of what she looks like or what she does.

I really don't understand this marriage thing, it brings out the beast in men sometimes, all of a sudden the attraction just goes away.. Lord have mercy.

It's not like that. What actually happens is that women get married and all of a sudden they stop trying to be attractive to their husbands. They usually do it subconsciously. Men are visual creatures they are attracted to what they see. Women should never take that for granted.

Well am kinda asking because of my friend
She got a guy that was crazy about her
The guy asked her to be his girlfriend but normal girly forming and all she said no to the guy , hoping that the guy would keep pressing and disturbing

2 days back the guy introduced another girl to my friend as his girlfriend that they actually started dating yesterday

My friend has been feeling so sad and confused , because she actually likes the guy

Well who doesn’t like him ??
He is good looking and has money with a nice ride

Now the question is
Have you ever regretted saying no to a guy
And what will you advise my friend to do
Let go or fight for love

She already said no to him so which love again? One doesn't reject love. If you reject someone then you definitely don't love them. Let your friend stop deceiving herself.

The worst part is that the lady seems ready to pick a fight with her mother in law just because of different opinions over the wedding ceremony. Not considering the fact that this will destabilize her household even before she moves in.

Annoms:
I'll try to make this short.

Yesterday I was having a conversation with my fiancée about my mum's suggestion about how to go about our wedding which is scheduled to take place Jan next year. My mum suggested that we do both trad and white wedding on the same day to cut cost. She opined that we do the white wedding in the morning and hold the traditional marriage as a reception in the afternoon. I pretty much see reasons from her perspective considering the harsh economic condition in Nigeria.

I was relating this to my fiancée yesterday in a phone call, when she flared up and said I should have consulted her to seek her opinion on this marriage arrangement before going to my family to seek theirs because I said my mum's advise seems okay.

What I deduce from her plight was that she wants the trad marriage at the village (south-east) while the white at the town where we base (South-West). That was what I initially wanted but due to high inflation in the land, I'm actually tilting towards my mum advise because I can't go bankruptcy just because I want to satisfy her. Why not use a stone to kill two birds?

She wants a cream-de-la-cream kind of wedding but she's not ready to assist financially to make that happen. (she's an awaiting corper)

I told her that the cost of transportation and lodging people from the village (hers and mine) to the city for our white marriage alone is gulping about 500/600k. That's transportation & lodging alone ooo.. I'll now spend if not x2 of what I spent on trad for white.. Why not just do everything in the village and move on with our lives? We can actually have it in the village and it will still be all nice and glamourous.

She said she wants to have a say in how her marriage will look like. Her imput is welcomed. But if she still insist on having the white wedding and not putting finances into consideration. I'm thinking that she want the white wedding on the city because of her friends who will attend which is not enough reason to go bankruptcy for.

It was a heated argument yesterday. We both went to bed angrily and not in talking terms till now

Pls advice accordingly. Thanks

My brother you never see wife o. Run for your life! Any woman who is more concerned about what her wedding will look like, than what her actual marriage will be like is not yet ready to be a wife.

Career / Re: I Am Worried My O'level Isn't Good Enough For My Cv by babadee1(m): 2:25am On May 17, 2021
Auxtan:
Ever since I entered the university and now in my 400L currently doing my 6 months I.T in preparation for my final year (500L) I haven't gone through my qualifications intently until this morning.

Here is a problem I discovered, I made my way to the university with a 2 sittings 2014 O'level certificates in WAEC and NECO because I made a D7 in English in WAEC which is a compulsory credit subject required for admission I had to use my NECO result where I made C5 in English to back it up for a 2 sittings result though I recall they ended up using only my NECO for the O'level certificate screening that time.

Now I am concerned if this might be a problem when I graduate and decide applying for a top job. My CGPA currently is quite impressive but right now I am afraid my O'level might not be good enough due to the D7 I made in English in WAEC.

Please I need good words of advice from the experienced ones amongst us here.
Thank you

Nobody cares about your O levels after you graduate. Just make sure you graduate with a second class upper and you're good to go.

So here is what he’s considering:
1. A country with constant electricity
2. Good and viable business environment
3. High standard of living
4. Low cost of living
5. Friendly and accommodating people

Will gladly welcome all ideas

South Africa. It's not easy to make the move but probably the best place to live on the continent.

Religion / Re: Satan Lied When He Claimed The Kingdoms Of The World Were His by babadee1(m): 9:43am On May 09, 2021
Everything that God gave to man, man has given to the devil, by choosing to obey the devil rather than God. Whatever you choose to obey you become a slave to (Rom. 6:16). That's why the Bible calls the devil "the god of this world" (2 Cor. 4:4).
But in the end all the kingdoms of the world will be restored to the rightful man who is God's appointed heir Jesus Christ (Rev. 11:15).

So no, it wasn't a lie at all.

bingbagbo:
Daniel 2:37-41
[37]You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory;
[38] and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.
[39]But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.
[40]And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.
[41]Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.

DID YOU NOTICE FROM THE ABOVE VERSES THAT, GOD HAS GIVEN THE RULERSHIP OF THIS EARTH TO MAN? THE KINGDOMS OF THIS EARTH BELONG TO MAN.

THOSE WHO CLAIM SATAN RULES THE EARTH, SHOW US WHERE THAT AUTHORITY WAS GIVEN SATAN? THE DEVIL IS A LIAR

See Satan's lies below

Luke 4:5-8
[5]Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
[6]And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
[7]Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
[8]And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

JUST AS THE DEVIL DECEIVED EVE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN, HE TRIED DECEIVING THE LORD JESUS, BUT HE FAILED. THE DEVIL IS A LIAR

John 8:44

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

IN SPITE OF THE BOLDED, MANY STILL BELIEVE SATAN SPOKE THE TRUTH WHEN HE CLAIMED HE OWNED THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD

Family / Re: Am I A Failure? Please Rate Me. by babadee1(m): 5:56pm On May 05, 2021
WhiteRuler:
First of all, apologies for any errors you may come across as I am not at the right frame of mind now.

Secondly, this post is 100% real about my life. So nothing is fake in it.

I'm a man, precisely 33 years old. I graduated from the University in 2019 at age 31. You may ask why I was still in school till that age. Well, I have realized that family/parental background matters a lot in a child's life no matter how people try to twist the fact. My family/parental background wasn't a good one educationally and financially as my parents were just petty traders and this has contributed negatively in achieving my goals and aspirations in life. With the above, you can deduce that there was no sources of funding for my tertiary education so I had to find a job after my secondary school while very ambitious about my furthering my education because I always believed in acquiring education up to university level. This led me to doing several odd jobs such as construction site labourer, security guard, cleaning, barbing, hawking, even to remove soak away and many others just to feed and see myself through school. Let me also add that @33 now, there are some jobs I can't do again because of some changes in my health system occasioned by some of the odd jobs I exposed myself to. For example, any strenuous job now is not for me as it makes me breath heavily like an asthmatic patient; any job that requires standing for long or bending down not for me due to broken waist (although these might be solvable issues but for now, I can't tell cos I have no money to visit health facility).

Moving on, while I may be thanking God for the academic success (even though the school is yet to issue me certificate) but I'm having strong feelings about myself. I feel like I have failed in life. I feel like I am a failure. My mates who got admission into university immediately after secondary school are gainfully employed today, living in comfortable apartment (built or rented), married with kids, have their own car and generally doing well. Even the ones who didn't further but venture into learning trade are doing well too. On the other hand, at 33, I have virtually nothing to show for it. Still living in one thatch house, poor, hungry and starving, no wife, no kid(s) (not even a serious girlfriend), no job, no car and nothing to show for my 33 years on earth. This is why I'm feeling like I have failed in life and it has made me to always be ashamed of myself and always trying to avoid meeting my mates who are doing well.

Also, looking at the country Nigeria, most employers recruit under 30. @33, what are my chances of
landing a good job if I refuse to forge age and go for service but collect exemption letter? What are even the possibility of getting a job as I have no capital for business? Note: between 2019 and now, I've learnt several online money making skills but yet to make a kobo out of it all. Note also: ordinarily, I wouldn't seek employment (private or government) because I'm multi talented e.g in football, entertainment or business but these talents need money to develop which is what I'm lacking.

My questions:
Please what do you all think? Do you think I have failed or I'm a failure in life? What is the future holding for me? As at today, the only thing I can boast of is "I am a graduate". Nothing more...like I said, poor, hungry and starving.

Help me with good pieces of advice please before my mind begins to consider evil as fastest way of making money. Thanks.

I didn't read your write up. But I think it's extremely important that I let you know this. Any man who can expose himself for other people especially strangers to rate whether he is a failure or not is automatically a failure for doing so. Determine to be your own man and to hell with the approval of others. Peace be with you.

JackDaAlienz:
When i travelled to Russia to study medicine I was 23 years when I meet a very beautiful Russian girl named Yulia
She was 17 turning to 18.

I loved this girl with all my heart and she was so in love with me. Infact she loved me too much.
I was her first black boyfriend
We dated for 2 years
Then we broke up because I needed some space.
We still became very close friends after the break up.
Until she got a new boyfriend.
She called me crying and telling me that she has not loved any guy in this life more than me. But she doesn't know what to do about this rich guy who wants her.
I told her to go ahead, that if he can give her the life she always dreamed of living.

She clearly want this guy because of his money. Her new boyfriend is very rich and me I wasn't financially strong then.
Her boyfriend knows I'm her ex, so he forced her to block me everywhere.
We haven't talked since 3 years

I moved on like nothing happened
Now I'm back in Nigeria
It's been 3 years now
But here is the problem
No matter how hard I try to forget her
It doesn't work
I still get flashbacks of our love, romance and all the good times we had.
No matter how hard I try, I just can't forget her.

I got into a new relationship which ended shortly because the girl I was dating said I was still in love with my ex. That I talk about my ex more than I talk about her.
And it's true, I unknowingly bring up my ex in our discussion.
How do I get over my ex of 3 years.
I sometimes cry at night thinking about her
It's so weird, I have never had this kind of bond with a girl.

How can I remove her from my mind
It's like I'm spiritually tied to this girl

You miss her. Yet you were the one who told her you needed space which led to your break up. When she called you to tell you she wanted to get back together you told her to go ahead with another man. I don't think you ever loved her, you are just missing the benefits of the relationship not the actual girl. Pls move on cos you pushed her away with your own hand.

Switchman:
Please I Need Your Candid And Long Term Advise, I Am Presently Depressed And Out

This will be a lengthy one but I promise to summarize it as much as I can.

I met a lady in her late 30s 18months ago through an online friend. I was working in Lagos while she was based and working in Abuja.

We chatted for a while before she volunteered to come to Lagos for a visit over the weekend which doesn't seem a bad idea to me cos I believed seeing in person is better than 1 million pictures.

Due to her age and desperation, we met and she liked what she saw in me and intensive talks began on how I can relocate to Abuja and get better job. I actually haven't been to Abuja so I was excited to take that move with the hope of becoming a better person and getting a better job.

I resigned from my job due to some issues as at that time which could had been managed but so I can have more time to visit and see how things are in Abuja before making my final preparation to relocate. She supports financially during those time while I use my car for ehailing business pending when I will finally relocate.

Covid 19 lock down came and all plans were halted due to restrictions on vehicular movements. Fast forward to November last year I made final plans and I agreed to finally relocate but on the conditions that we will need to get a new apartment cos I don't want to move in with her to her former apartment which was a one room self contain, we got a 1 bedroom apartment and I moved in with her. She owns 90% stake on the expenses incurred but in the spirit of hope for a better job, I will upgrade the apartment to have an equal stake in the home.

It's been 3 months now I have fully relocated and we have been cohabiting but it's been hell for me and I just need help on how to get out of this mess I put myself. No job was forth coming and due to the fact that I am home always, I have been reduced to a house help cos I am the one doing the chores, cleaning the dishes and even my laundry though she pays for her own, so many other insults and atimes it's with exchanges of words before I can take a walk just to acclimatize myself with the terrains of the area.

It's really a bad experience for a man not to have a steady source of income cos in a twinkle of an eye the love will vanish.

I love the lifestyle of Abuja cos it is less stressful than Lagos and I will really like to get a good source of income so I can get my own apartment and be free from the shackles I put myself in the name of love.

I really need help now cos I know my days are numbered and it's a matter of time before she sends me packing cos I really don't have the right to the apartment. Please house, I need your candid advise on what to do and as always constructive criticism is allowed.

Thanks
Switchman

I honestly don't understand what you are complaining about. What did you expect? It's clear from your write up that you were attracted to her because of her money. You honestly thought that she would be willing to support you indefinitely abi? Nah. That can never work with a naija woman. You should not have quit your job and relocated until you found another one in Abuja. The only thing you can do now is to either find another job in Abuja asap or relocate back to Lagos till you can find something else.

Cuba pays its doctors very low salaries and spends more on preventive health.

They also export their doctors to earn forex for the country and take most of their salaries

There's no reason why Nigeria cannot develop a similar model to the Cuban model that works. I can tell you definitively that the reason most doctors leave Nigeria is not because of money. Rather it is because the system does not work for either the patients or the doctors. Too many unnecessary and preventable deaths because the system is rigged. A government that cannot take care of the people does not deserve its doctors.

Well, we have a scarcity of doctors and nurses here...

You can keep medics here , if you allow hospitals to be run at a profit...or if we raise our tax to gdp ratio , and remove subsides so that more money flows into the country.... But since we are so poor...

There are several poor countries that make their health system work well. A good example is Cuba. If Nigeria makes healthcare a top priority then we can make it work too. If we prioritize healthcare in this country no doctors would be leaving.

On the contrary, the UK wants African countries to keep their doctors so that they can benefit Africa, not the UK.

Hence the ban on active recruitment.

A former Nigerian minister of health told Nigerian doctors that they can go into farming because they're too many for the system and are not needed. I don't see the rationale for restricting doctors or any other professional from offering their services to places where they are required.
