Christianity EtcRe: An Exclusive Interview With Pope Francis by babestell(f): 2:33pm On Sep 22, 2013
Some people will complain the post is too long and will not read it. Some will not read it and yet they will jump to conclusions and summarise nonsense for themselves. Some will read it amd purposely twist his words in order to vilify the Pope and the Church. Others will read and seek constructive and life building disscussion to further their knowledge and that of others.

Truthfully ascertain for yourself, which category you fall in.
Christianity EtcRe: One Reason You Should Stop Wearing Trousers, earring, attachment And Makeups by babestell(f): 5:04am On Sep 22, 2013
This was exactly what the Pope was talking about. We need to leave this culture of condemnation and move to a culture of love. The Love God has for us is greater than any sin we can commit, wearing trousers in this day and age is the least sin any lady can commit. Let's never loose focus of that love. And we should share it with others, instead of forcing them to live by our standards. There are more saints wearing trousers today and there are sinners wearing only skirts. The 2 greatest commandments as said by Christ were based on love. Every other thing na human addition.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Urges More Understanding For Gays. by babestell(f): 4:38am On Sep 22, 2013
Arrant nonsense. I bet you guys did not even read the article through. Just took the part that excites you, that you can easily mis intepret and you come here and spew nonsense. Before the Holy Father said anything about gays, he spoke of the mercy and love of God, and we the Church need to share that with everyone , sinner or not. Better go to church today and ask Him for forgiveness for speaking ill against his anointed one.
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Warns Church Must Find New Balance Or FAIL by babestell(f): 8:55pm On Sep 19, 2013
He isn't embarassing nobody, he is simply bringing a different perspective on issues. What has he said that you disagree with or anybody should. Some of the statements of this report are presumptive and false. But then again the author needs to sell market
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis Starting To Suspect He May Actually Be The Antichrist After All by babestell(f): 5:59am On Sep 17, 2013
Conspiracy theorist at it again......by the time the real anti christ comes ( if he ever comes) people will gather and crucify him because he will not fit their idea of "anti christness". Being evil will be such hard work.

Booqee better love me more or I will make your marriage miserable. Italo is always my baby boy and he does what his mama wants grin

On another note, I think you misunderstand the statement by the great saint. If you truly love Christ as you say then already the chief portion of your heart would be given to him. Then the the chief portion of the remainder shld go to Our Lady. Does this make it any betterhuh

Christianity EtcRe: Catholic Priests May Be Allowed To Marry Amid Papal Changes by babestell(f): 5:17am On Sep 14, 2013
Thanks to everyone who has shown such concerned interest in the future of the Catholic Church. I am so excited to see the level of commitment you all have shown by dropping your comments. I know most of us are scared and worried at what this change may portent but I want us not to. I can only guess the reaction of the populace that 1000years ago when priestly celibacy was put in place, am sure if they had their own blog spaces we would have seen the same outpouring of grievances and doubts.

But let us be truthful priestly celibacy has worked for the Church, because without the burden of caring for a nuclear family, men and women were able to go to all corners of the earth preaching the Gospel and now that Gospel has reached all corners thanks to their sacrifice. Is it time to do away with the law and restrategize to deal with the challenges of today? Maybe yes. But it is not on "human reasoning" that we will make that decision. It has to be made with the full backing of GOD.

So if you don't mind, say a little prayer with me
"Eternal Father, Our Saviour said to St Peter "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it" (Matt 16:18) and we your children who trace our history to that day claim the fulfilment of that promise. Through generations many enemies, scandals, confusion, uncertainties etc have arisen within and without the Church but under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we have always resolved it. Once again we ask for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon your Church that the leaders and the followers may do what is right and pleasing in YOUR eyes. We ask for a renewal of vocation and sincere desire to serve YOU and and our neighbours. We love you Lord even though a lot of times our actions say otherwise. Thank YOU Father. Amen

Once again thank you all for the interest you have shown and remember to continue to pray for the Holy Catholic Church.
Christianity EtcRe: Saint John Chrysostom On Fasting by babestell(f): 9:08am On Sep 13, 2013
Even now, says the LORD,
return to me with your whole heart,
with fasting, and weeping, and mourning;
Rend your hearts, not your garments,
and return to the LORD, your God.
Joel 2:12-13

Ever year on Ash Wednesday the first reading is taken from the Prophet Joel extolling us to fast with our hearts and not just follow mechanical activities. I always have this quote at the back of my mind whenever I have the need to fast or abstain. Thanks for the post.

Christianity EtcRe: Birthday Of Our Blessed Mother Mary 08/09/2013 by babestell(f): 5:22pm On Sep 11, 2013
I do not indulge people that Insult others when they speak, but I will just this once as this has to do with GOD
Now can you point out where the verse you tried to quote from the Bible is? Because in truth, there is no such verse in the Bible

John 19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, BEHOLD THY MOTHER! and from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home

Like I said, earlier there was no place in the entire Bible where Jesus ever used the word MOTHER to address Mary, even at the marriage party he used the same word WOMAN! Finally you do not know me before to result to Insults and this is supposed to be a Christian topic... Have a Blessed day
But it is not in doubt that she is His mother na. After all today some children call their parents by name, does it make them not their parents.

We believe Mary is the Mother of God, because the son she had was truly man and truly God. Jesus existed as God before his birth but on that glorious summer night in Bethlehem, a wondrous thing happened and the Prince of Heaven took on the form of mortal man while retaining his divinity, This is a mystery that can only be understood by the grace of God and not human reasoning. It stands to reason then that if Christ was both man and God then indeed that most exalted of wombs that bore him birthed the God-Man was indeed the mother of both the God and Man. to deny this is to deny that Christ is God.

On the immaculate conception. "The defined dogma of the Immaculate Conception regards original sin only, saying that Mary was preserved from any stain (in Latin, macula or labes, the second of these two synonymous words being the one used in the formal definition).[1] The proclaimed Roman Catholic dogma states "that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin."[1] Therefore, being always free from original sin, the doctrine teaches that from her conception Mary received the sanctifying grace that would normally come with baptism after birth."

Christianity EtcRe: Would You Quit Your Job, If It Affects Church? by babestell(f): 2:55pm On Sep 08, 2013
My Church laws state that missing mass on Sunday without valid reason is a sin. Work can be such a reason especially if there is no other option eg like going for early morning or evening mass or attending obligatory mass on saturday evenings. If truly you could not make mass then you are free of sin. I have spent sundays offshore before and though at first I wasn't happy, I have learnt to live with it. Though I try to attend daily mass when I get out. Because of the level to which the world has progressed to I do not think we can still interpret the 2nd commandment in its strictest terms.

Na wa for people. Do you know how many masses, prayers and fasting have been offered to God for peace in Syria and other parts of the World including our own Naija. With the way things are going this war will have a great toll on the rest of the world. And for all of you information the Vatican has been intervening in the crisis since it started.
Abi how long do you guys think it will take before Boko HAram make it into a christian vs muslim issue.

As for me and my family, fasting and prayers and holy rosaries na our mode right now.

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, please pray for your children....both those that acknowledge you and those that don't

Then if you worry about her lack of thick skin, then you as her man should be her skin. You stand up and protect her when others try to make her miserable. Let people know that you wont stand by and let your wife be bullied, whether she has kids after 1 year or 10 years, if your extended family feel they can misbehave around her and get away with it because the husband is a weakling, then they will

Christianity EtcRe: Is Abortion Okay In Protestant Churches? by babestell(f): 10:34am On Sep 01, 2013
So I learnt a new definition of humility which I think applies to this discussion.
"Humility is acknowledging/accepting the truth ans working/acting/reasoning in line with it"

My own summary of the issue follows
The "Truth" is that the Holy Mother Church believes that life starts at conception. The Church believes that all Human life is sacred. The Church also believes in the forgiveness of sins

Acting in line with this truth: The Holy Church strives to pursue for the preservation of such life. So She is anti-abortion, anti-euthanasia, anti-death sentence, anti-any action that involves the taking of a human life especially in a manner as violent and cold hearted as some of the above.
But the Church in her wisdom also realises that not everything is black and white. Some times there are grey areas like what if the life if the mother is threatened, (read Chukwudi44 post on previous page on this issue)
So why do we protest against this law, because such laws can be abused. Most people do not sin because of consequences, if they are sure they will not suffer the consequences the tendency to commit such actions is high. If I know I can procure an abortion easily, I may be tempted to commit fornication and adultery, if I decide I don't want any more kids instead of holding myself from sex during fertile period or applying birth control I will go ahead and have sex believing that I can abort safely after all. A couple with 3 girls will go for scan on the 4th pregnancy, see its a girl and abort it because they want a boy. Every example above is cold blooded murder as far as the Church is concerned. And let's be truthful 90% of abortions happen within such above spheres.
The Church has always called the faithful to partake in the sacrament of penance. No one will tell you to leave the church if you sin, rather you are advised to repent, go for confession, do your penance and resolve never to sin again (please that I write it like this doesn't mean it should be abused. If you do an unworthy confession you have not done a confession and that is a mortal sin)
As for the separation of state and church,if the state is going to pass laws that will be at odds with my Faith then I have every right to resist it. You may be surprised that due to the legalisation of abortion in some countries, doctors and nurses cannot say no to performing an abortion even if it goes against their conscience. If they say no they stand to loose their jobs and can even be sued! see what is happening with gay marriages in the USA.

The Catholic Church is made up of human beings who have human faults and reason like humans. Yes our priests have erred, the parishioners have mis behaved, we have not practised what we preached but the Church as body, the Bride of Christ on earth is holy and has the spirit of God resting on Her. This is an action only made possible by God having a Holy body made up of mere mortal men.

So depending on your background, what you hold as truth and how you defend it may defer from what we do.

Happy Sunday y'all
