God as you have used Jona and Stella to do this wonderful thing for Enugu, I say a BIG THANK YOU SIR, I also pray that you touch British, US and other relevant embassies to open consulates or whatever they wanna call it offices as long as they issue visa to your people. I know many people don tire to dey travel to Lagos or Abuja just for 2 hour visa interview. Father also help your children to get money so that we too can travel legitimately and shut the mouth of all haters!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Everyone be warned.......His church memebers are here!!! :- |
If I see a so called "Man of God" deceiving people and leading them astray, I will expose him/her, becos if I don't, I will have sinned against God and man. If truly this lady is teliing the truth, then we are right to discuss it. For all you know God may be using her to expose the man. Unfortunately we have no way of confirming her story. But its good she came out with it, becos people will now open their eyes to any fishy thing going on in the church |
I personally do not have a problem with it. If I have hanky I cover my hair, if not I enter mass like that. Not having scarf will not make me miss mass. I can understand that some times as Christians we make the mistake of concentrating on superficail symbols of faith. We all know that Pastor or Choir mistress who is all covered up in church but is a total slut outside. Covering hair doesn't make anyone a saint or bring them closer to God or assure them of heaven. |
But really in this age and time when people have become very selfish and self gratification is the order of the day, there is need for a little mortification to bring you back to your senses. Self imposed suffering is an avenue for you to learn to appreciate what you have. How much more when you do it because you desire to be closer to God. A common form is fasting. But you can desire to mortify in other means eg walking Instead of taking the bus. |
"Mortification of the flesh is the institutional expiatory act of a person or group's penance for atonement of sins and path to sanctity. The term is primarily used in religious and spiritual contexts. The practice is found in many cultures, most notably the Roman Catholic Church and their penitential saints. Common forms of mortification includes flagellation, in imitation of Jesus Christ's suffering and death by crucifixion. Other forms are fasting, carrying heavy loads and immersion in water which are found in some Asian cultures" "One of the methods which Christian asceticism employs in training the soul to virtuous and holy living. The term originated with St. Paul, who traces an instructive analogy between Christ dying to a mortal and rising to animmortal life, and His followers who renounce their past life of sin and rise through grace to a new life of holiness. "If you live after the flesh", says the apostle, "you shall die, but if through the spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live" (Romans 8:13; cf. also Colossians 3:5, and Galatians 5:24). From this original use of the term, we see that mortification, though under one aspect it is a law of death, under another and more fundamental aspect it is a law of life, and does not destroy but elevates nature. What it slays is the disease of the soul, and byslaying this it restores and invigorates the soul's true life." "In its simplest form, mortification of the flesh can mean merely denying oneself certain pleasures, such as permanently or temporarily abstaining from alcoholic beverages, sexual relations, or any area of life that makes the person's spiritual life more difficult or burdensome. It can also be practiced by choosing a simple or even impoverished lifestyle; this is often one reason many monks of various religions take vows of poverty." |
Solomambo: You forget too soon that Leos don't Click together cos Of Their Will to Be Leaders Always...well am August Born on 16Hello, we are birthday mates. Pleased to meet you. I hope you have a swell day this year, Our special day falls on a friday, Isnt that cool. Take care and God bless. |
Mukina as temporary Mod is ok. She has proved herself over the years, The general outpouring of hatred and disgust for Maclatunji was just over whelming and infectious. Nobody wanted him and I guess it was more based on his character than his religion. @ Seun Are you sure you need a born-again-christian as against a mature christian. Most born again christians cannot tolerate catholics and vice versa. Am sure the Atheists will feel the "strictness" of such a mod very soon. You just need a mature person who knows when he or she needs to step in and calm nerves or stop abuse of the forum. The person need not be a bible wielding "Ye shalt be damned" person. From all the posts I read on this issue, People just want a place to argue to their heart's pleasures. Your homework is to go thru the religious thread and look for those regular people who make sane and non jugdemental comments and ask them to volunteer. "By their posts ye shalt knoweth them" |
Your ideas are yours and may work for the society of people you relate it. But when you say "Take it or leave it" I will beg to disagree. You cannot categorically say that, Women and Men have different emotional characteristics and it usually exhibited in their prayer pattern. So while it may look like the wife is always praying she may not be spiritually stronger than the husband. Infact in a lot of cases when there is an issue, it is the women who run around looking for fake solutions while the men stick to their faith. I know at least 10 families where the Husband is stronger spiritually than the wife and thats off the top of my head. This issue can only be treated on a case by case basis. Once domestic violence sets in, a different set of rules begin to apply. Patience and respect and calm has killed/maimed/disfigured many wives and children over the centuries. Even this nagging sef, People have different ways of intepreting it. My colleague says that as far as he is concerned when his wife opens her mouth she is nagging, even if she is just saying welcome. I feel thats crap but hey who am I to judge him. Your opinion is yours please do not judge people who think different from you as long as it works for them. That's the basis the basis for peace in a multi-cultural society |
pri3stess: Ignorance things, chemical peels do not affect people's health.Thats what they say now! Then few years later new knowledge will change it all!!! |
Cancer things, when black soap dey market ![]() |
Please what do you mean when u say "shea butter clarifies skin" |
I laugh when I read some comments here. There should be a line drawn at certain points and wife beating is one of them. Its okay to sit in the comfort of your home and criticise people and women until the horror meets you. Ask people who are products of abusive homes and see what they think. Please stop all the judging. Someone even referred to women as "used vessels". How many violent men have you seen tamed, very very few, they may reduce the attacks but they are not tamed. Pray that your sister or daughters do not encouter such men because you will not condone it. Marriage is challenging but spouse abuse is demonic, many women and children have been scarred emotionally and physically and you expect such people to perform as normal members of society. Its not a one size fits all but I will never advice anyone to stay with an abusive husband. PS I use husband here because most times its the the men that beat women even though the reverse happens some times. |
Playgal: Hey Babes, pls where can I get this wig u r talking about? Am based in Lagos...........My sister I still dey find am o! I know someone in lagos will have it. I live in PH which is just a big village as far as I am concerned. Whenever I get to Lagos I will look and if I find I will share, Unless some knowledgeable Nairaland sis can help us with that info on where to get U-Part wigs |
Poverty is real bad, really bad. But whether or not we agree, this kind of arrangement has helped a lot of people get a chance at a better life. Nothing compares with staying with your parents but no every body has an opportunity for that. We may argue and complain and curse men/women who have live in maids but until Nigeria changes for the better this practice will continue. My cousin was trained through to university by the family she lived with, her sister unfortunately was nearly beaten to death by her own family. Thank God that they are well settled now to train their younger ones if not those ones would have gone to live with people too. Lets fix Naija first, where every child is sure of education/health services and we have social services to support the less privilege. Where people give birth to the number of children they can handle and/or dont give birth till they can afford it. |
Marital violence is evil. It leaves deep emotional wounds on the abuser, abused and the children. A lot of people I know who come from abusive and broken homes are f..ked up emotionally. If your husband beats u and u decide to stay and save your marriage, good for you. If you decide you have had enough and want to call it quits, good for you. I have decided not to judge or try to arbitrate in such issues. It is not a one size fits all situation. |
Look your wife well before you make any decision, If she is the spend thrift type then you may need to always balance books with her instead of trusting her with the whole. My experience with married colleagues is that they give their wives household money for the month as well as some personal spending money and it seems to be working for them. |
I know a lot of couples of different tribes who are doing very well, and in fact can serve as role models for young people. Please lets not turn it tribal. Jealousy and psychopathy are no respecter of tribe or country. A bad man is a mad man. This story will serve as a warning to people out there, unfortunately this young girls life and beauty has been ruined. May GOD help her get through this. |
kodewrita: Who told you to go and get MSc from abroad? Did you apply officially and get rejected OR did you (in spite of the fact that you are supposedly an educated graduate) rely on rumour for information?Your so smart and mature in your reply. You said it all. I really wish you sucess in all your endeavours, You deserve it. |
I seriously doubt some people when they claim they graduated with some results. At least a graduate with 2.1 or above should be able to reason and strategize tactics of ensuring he gets employed instead of waiting for handouts. But instead they expect to be spoon fed. Even if IOC's employ their so called "best graduates" indiscriminately they will still complain. The vicious cycle of laziness will never stop |
It is the fault of everybody but the youths/community people themselves according to some posters. There is an excuse for every argument. The test questions are leaked, universities don't give admissions, non-indigenes employ only their brothers etc. God dey sha. One day Nigerians will go above all these sentimentality and try to actually improve themselves. |
bloggernaija: Shell on her own , employs less than 6000 people ,many of whom are expatriate .all shell does is to buy oil blocks ,most of the other work is done by servicing companies like trans ocean,Halliburton etc.You are very wrong. SPDC is run and managed by 90% Nigerian staff (full staff not contract). The remaining 10% expats are a result of exchanges (Nigerian staff are also working in Shell companies in other coutries) and then specialised fields. Any body in Oil and Gas will tell you tah SPDC develops her local staff very well, no difference from foreign staff. As to "just buy Oil blocks" you are also wrong. No major Oil and Gas company just buys oil blocks, they also plan the development and management and thats why they employ the best engineers. There are many skill pools in the oil and gas business and thats why you have contractors like SLB, Baker etc and also a lot of local ontractors too. |
Most of theses babes look like clowns!!! Or maybe because am not a make up person. |

Can this end already ? |
Gree-Die may your days be long and fruitful on Earth and you have spoken well, but when someone has made up his mind to quarrel, its best not to give them fodder. I try not to join these arguments because it will not achieve anything in my life spiritually, physically or financially. After arguing on Nairaland, I hope we all go home to be good neighbours to our gateman, maids and all those who we come in contact with. That"s also a pre-requisite to make heaven, lets not forget that. |
Am going to be wearing wigs for the next half year, at least until my hair starts to look presentable. Just discovered something called a U-part wig, should be an improvement over my front lace wigs. Now just to figure out where I can buy it. To my despair, I have been finding it difficult to find all those nice products I see on blogs in Port Harcourt. Every time I save up enough money to buy, the online shops are always out of stock Thank God for shea butter and coconut oil that i can find) @Mamacita007 please before you take the plunge and cut your hair, just try and see if u can make out at least 2 hours in a week for your hair. It may be 2 hrs Friday night or early Saturday morn. Just try to build up a routine that works for u. |
So I finally settled down on a hair regimen that better work or I give up all efforts. 1. Retouch every 12 weeks 2. Wash with shampoo every 2 weeks and a co-wash the other weeks. 3. Deep condition with a protein conditioner on the weeks I use shampoo, other wise deep condition with mositurizing conditioner. 4. Use water based moisturizer everyday and seal with coconut oil 5. I didnt plan to fix my hair till November but am gonna break that commitiment and fix in August fo 3 weeks(my birthday )6. Apply leave in conditioner on wash days: which will have to be on weekends cos that when am free For products am gonna use JBCO castor oil, pimento and proten conditioner and Organics shampoo, and coconut oil and some other products that I saw oline. This hair has 6 months to show it can grow if not!!! Ny friend in gabon is a natural and she uses water and olive oil as her moisturizer. |
