Stop being myopic and stop talking out of emotions. I'm not trying to justify the foolishness of our politicians but y'all should stop comparing UAE and Qatar with Nigeria. Those countries has the same or more deposit of oil in a smaller area and with a very small population.

Qatar for example is a country with a landmass of 11,500km² has less than 3 million citizen but yet produce almost 2 million barrels of oil per day.
Nigeria landmass is 924,000km² (that's times 80 of Qatar's landmass), with over 200 million people but yet produce about 1.2 million barrels per day. How would you compare both countries?

That's like comparing a man that earns 1 million monthly but has 4 wives and 15 children with a man that earns 5 million monthly but has 1 wife and 3 children.

compared to UAE which produces 3.5m barrels/day for a population of 9.5m people; this will amount to 0.368barrel/capita per day
compared to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which produces 12.5m barrels/day for a population of 36m people; this will amount to 0.346barrel/capita per day
In summary, the UAE is 46times richer per capita than us and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is 43times richer than us. It will be unwise to compare these two countries to Nigeria.

Also, Oil is Nigeria's export accounting for over 90% of our foreign exchange earnings while UAE and KSA export substantial gas, tourism and other products.

Nigeria is a relatively poor country. It has a huge population but very small revenue and budget to meet up with the responsibility of providing infrastructure at record time to its people. You will agree with me that Hongkong and Macau are one of the richest and most developed parts of China, as such I'll never compare the ability of these two semi-autonomous regions of China to build infrastructure with ours.

You can't argue that the Nigerian government has not taken the job seriously because there are no comparable projects in the other parts of Nigeria. No project of that magnitude has been undertaken by the ministry of works and housing in the other 5 regions of Nigeria.

But Fashola's job is limited to the provision of infrastructure, in particular, road infrastructure. Furthermore, road infrastructure is an important ingredient of production. It enables the movement of goods, services, and raw materials from rural areas to the center of production.

Finally, The second Niger bridge is a crucial infrastructure, an asset that the southeast has been craving for decades. The question is why is it been greeted with a lot of cynicism by people from the region? Is it because it is been built by the wrong party and the Afonja they hate so much?
