Ujujoan:
But seriously, it beats me when I see men of 30 something claiming they are 'not yet ready' to get married. What? Are they waiting till they clock 40? I mean the biological clock is not ticking but do you really what your kids to call you grand dad? undecided
You mean like the way Obama’s daughter of of about 12 calls her daddy (Obama, 48) granddad? cheesy cheesy The rules don’t apply to men like they do to women in this case.

spikedcylinder:
There are many women in their 30s, 40s making mad money and looking for husbands. Marry one of them and you're golden. wink
Contemporary women by default always look for men above their station or at worst on the same level with them to marry - even those making mad money in their 40s as you suggested. The OP has better chances of being struck by lightning twice than marrying any of those kinds of women.

Culture › Re: List Of Non-'chi' Igbo Names by Bawss1(m): 11:15am On May 27, 2011
Nice thread

I am in favor of giving the Chi and Chukwu names a rest. I think this should be encouraged so that sense of awe and deep respect which should be linked to anything that remotely has to do with our Creator is restored. Sometimes one shudders when one hears an angry parent calling their misbehaving child to order. Chibuzor, will you stop that nonsense! Nwachukwu shut up there! Although these types of names were given so as to honor or thank the Creator for the child, sometimes in everyday usage we etch away that sense that the names represent.

Anyways some non chi names

Aloefuna
Emenike
Nnennaya
Uwakwe
Enyiocha
Ezinne

Literature › Re: What Makes A Good Blog? by Bawss1(m): 9:35am On May 27, 2011
I guess I haven't come across many personal blogs for a long time now. Tech and sports blogs, I think, are still going strong and I enjoy them because of the witty way which they report the latest developments in their respective areas of interest. I'm referring to the likes of Techdirt and Engadget. I used to read some personal blogs like Mongol Whored and Restless Thoughts but haven't seen any new things from them since Facebook blew up hence my first comment.

They still hating?

Eko Ile please you'll have to find the syrup form of Badbelemycing. It appears haters don't like the tablets you showed earlier. If the syrup doesn't work then maybe haters will have to settle for injection shots of the drug. If that still doesn't work then their last option is the drip.  grin grin grin

Way to go Fashola! You are the man!

Politics › Re: Nigerian Masses Are As Corrupt As Nigerian Politicians (evidence) by Bawss1(m): 2:30pm On May 26, 2011
MyJoe:
There is no amount of honesty or good work from you, Bawss, that can change the entire system. That does not apply to the man at Aso Rocks. Saying it is the responsibility of leaders to lead the way is not shying away from anything. It is the way things are.
Thats just dandy isn't it? Who wouldn't want to just sit and fold their hands while waiting for the messiah to appear in Aso Rock. A very tempting path indeed. We are talking about the corrupt tendencies in the Nigerian people here. EVERYONE has a part to play in it. The leaders as well the followers. Saying our own efforts won't count is supporting indolence.

If everyone did the right thing within their own spheres of influence then that much desired change that we dream about will most certainly materialize. Don't blame it entirely on the leaders. The leaders agreeably have a wider influence and can effect change on a larger scale but that change will not be complete if the followers don't play their own part.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Masses Are As Corrupt As Nigerian Politicians (evidence) by Bawss1(m): 1:46pm On May 26, 2011
MyJoe:
For Nigeria to change, it has to start from the stop. Elite consensus. Someone at the top has to stand up and say enough is enough. Once accountability is enthroned at Aso Rock and the various state houses the people will take note and change will come gradually. By the way, op's assertion that Nigerians are as corrupt as their leaders apply everywhere. There is an old saying that everyone wants less corruption or a chance to participate in it.
Very wrong. For Nigeria to change for the better, it has to start from its most basic unit - the individuals. And from there, the families then to the society at large. Waiting for change from Aso Rock is just another convenient way of shying away from the hardwork and responsibility required in bringing about positive change.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Masses Are As Corrupt As Nigerian Politicians (evidence) by Bawss1(m): 1:29pm On May 26, 2011
Many people do not want to take responsibility for their situations that’s why they usually blame their leaders. It’s much easier that way. This is not to say that our leaders are without faults when it comes to corruption. It’s just that when we blame our leaders the attention moves from us to the leaders, that way we delude ourselves that we are OK so we can continue in our indolence and corruption. If we all did the right things within our own spheres of influence then corrupt leaders will scarcely emerge in our mists.

EDITED.

You people are telling the OP to get have faith, pay his tithes and go ahead and get married eh? Getting married can be accomplished but will he be able to live the quality of life he desires? It’s very easy for people to front with their marital status yet be living an extremely regimented and austere life.
TV/Movies › Re: Fast Five! Vin Diesel, Paul walker, the rock, Ludacris, Tyrese by Bawss1(m): 10:50am On May 26, 2011
I just saw Fast Five yesterday at the cinema and I have no intentions of seeing it again. . unless some else buys me a ticket.  smiley It’s the kind of movie I’d recommend to anyone who has a little over 2 hours to kill with mild amusement. The 130 minutes was mostly action packed I agree but imo none of the action really had that wow effect. I kept stifling thoughts of ridicule in the part where Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were hauling a vault halfway through Rio even though that was probably the movie’s high point. I also found the dialogues somewhat shallow and the humor slap stick. Overall it wasn’t entirely a bad movie, it managed to keep my interest, had me expecting something better in the next scenes even after several disappointments. I’d give it a score of 5 out of 10.

@ Ajanlekoko. I always respect your views but your carpeting of Amaechi based on the fact that you just came from ph is uncharacteristic and to say the least unscientific. As an analyst do you base your assessment of performance on what you see on a visit to a city and pictures or do you pick up certain development indices and do assessment on them? Dont you realise that a visitor to lagos can carpet fashola because he may not see many of his landmark activities on a visit or he may land at areas in lagos that look worse than the bbc documentary scenes? I wish you can use your respected analytical skills and rate the governors scientifically for nl's consumption of course based on transparent and unbiased authoritative research not based on what you just posted.
Dude just killed me there with his post. smiley Kai, see presentation. cheesy cheesy cheesy
