^^ So your own defense for having maids is attacking those who attacked the idea in the first place ![]() @Topic Non live-in house keepers seems the best route to go but is more expensive than its opposite. That probably explains why many Nigerian homes opt for the live-in types besides the fact that in many situations a distant relative can be drafted to play the role of a house-girl/boy at the drop of a hat. Personally I prefer a valet like Alfred Pennyworth, always nearby to see to tedious domestic chores in addition to keeping my costume and gear ready. |
Apparently many people don't know that morning-after pills exist. In 2012. Amazing. |

Are marriages in other parts of the world any better than Nigerian marriages? The problems that plague marriages are universal even though they may be nuanced by culture. There is nothing peculiar about Nigerian marriages today as compared to American marriages. The fact is that the institution is being eroded globally. |
Erm, why does the OP have a primitive image of Nigerian wives? ![]() |
ZUBY77: Good question because the husband must have asked the wife to forget about the suit. The nagging Jezebel must have insisted that she must have the suit back and while the husband went to ladipo for his daily business, the Jezebel went to the best man's house to shout at him and get the suit back through shouting, which of course must have resulted in the fighting.-1000 And to think you were a respectable person on NL. Demdem: Come to think of it, when will this Subsidy thief also resign. This is another conflict of interest oooIs the company bidding for any government projects? |
texazzpete: Can you point out anything really INNOVATIVE in the Galaxy S III?I think that at this point Samsung ranks just as good as Apple. When the iPhone 5 is unveiled next month we'll see whether Apple can still lay claims to being an innovative company. |
Just had to share this comment here "So, Samsung gets to look like the good guy fighting against big, bad Apple; gets to get a lot of free publicity about how their gadgets are so great that Apple has to compete in the courtroom; and get to have the whole thing turned over because the jury was filled with morons. Buy your Samsung stock now, while it's (temporarily) low(er)." - Da Infamous Joe |
nikkyshyne: Funny. Op is such a sissy.Word. OP is having difficulty establishing his personal boundaries, this is what many people encounter in a bid to be pleasing but in the process they end up shortchanged. He should tell his friend in clear terms exactly what he will not put up with. A tough move but will result in the desired situation. Just had to go Freudian ![]() |
I will say this for the umpteenth time here; Consumers - you and I - are the ones who will be worse off as a result of this verdict. We will have fewer options to choose from. Samsung copied Apple. So what? Apple has been copying/stealing/lifting ideas from other companies since its early days but now in the face of serious competition and with the help of a flawed patent system Apple fights back. In essence what they are saying is that it is OK for Apple to copy others but anyone who copies from Apple must pay. Dirty double standards. |
The ugly Price Of Garri Association (POGA) rears its silly head again. bbpreye: #nocomment! Retardeen |
Instead of lauding Apple for this victory (or boohooing Samsung for their loss) consumers should call for a review of the existing patent laws. As they are now, patents are a government granted monopoly which companies exploit unfairly at the expense of innovation. The wordings of the patent law (novelty and non-obviousness) are sometimes questioned considering the types of patents issued these days and what results is a situation like this Apple/Samsung lawsuit. This verdict may well likely herald the birthing of hundreds of patent trolls - entities that exists solely for the purpose of profiting from all manners of ridiculous infringements. |
Shaw007: I lOve the fact that u pointed oUtNew Inventions nOt copied ones. . .if samsung comes up with a new design instead of feeding off apple. . .who's gon stop them??The fact is that innovation thrives from the ideas of others. Apple which is hailed as as a great innovative company achieved that status by using the ideas of others in new novel ways. |
@ shaw007 There is no reason why this lawsuit should have affected the release of the iPhone 5. Apple usually releases its new phones during the last quarter of the year and the widely circulated date of September 12 for the iPhone 5 is in line with that tradition. Either way this lawsuit has cleared all doubt in my mind that the guys at Apple are shameless hypocrites - they cry blue murder at anything that is perceived to be a threat to their business yet they employ the same copying tactics on other companies. |
This lawsuit is a typical example of how companies use flawed patent laws to fight competition. At the end of the day innovation suffers . |
The lawsuit was used by Apple to fight competition yet they are known to have "borrowed" ideas from other companies in the past. At the end of the day innovation suffers while lawyers smile to the bank. |
OP should set up a poll on this thread and lets see what NLanders think even though I suspect they'll vote for the over-hyped Marvel flick. ![]() |
I'd vote the Dark Knight Rises as the best super hero movie of 2012. Avengers was cool and all but somewhat over-hyped. Even though Avengers made more money in the box office compared to TDKR, Nolan's work appealed to me more because of its richer characters and better narrated plot. |

After reading The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness by Eric Fromm a long time ago I have since taken an interest in psychology books. Just finished The Case for Copyright Reforms a book that debates the soundness of current copyright laws. Reading is a great way to expand one's mind and I have since decided to read at least one book each month. ![]() |

How do you hide updates from the app store? I tried installing Update Hider from Cydia but got the error message in the image below.

The OP obviously isn't a batman fan. Despite the flaws that the Dark Knight Rises contained it didn't make the movie any less interesting. There isn't any hit movie that doesn't have flaws, heck there are sites devoted to spotting movie mistakes(i.e http://www.moviemistakes.com/)and I dare say all the great movies of recent times are listed on those sites. Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, The Matrix, Inception. . . all those great movies contained some mistake in one detail or the other yet they were still critically acclaimed. This latest batman offering is a great movie despite any mistakes in details; it is anything but tepid. P.S Dark Knight Rises is the third installment of the series not the second. |
Sagamite: YOU DON CRASE!It is obvious MBJ is not going to admit to the flaws in his logic and you know it. The pleasure you get from doing what you are doing here is also subject to the principle of diminishing returns. Give it a rest already. |
