For example, there is ds particular Dr.A that has agents everywhr. When u get his quotation you will see a part whr dre is $500 admin fee. Admin fee for what?

When someone refers you to a doc and tells you please mention my name.

When you contact him he will ask for who referred you. Isn't that a form of business/agent arrangement?
Is this them say? or you tried it out yourself? Just trying to get a clearer picture.

Ok I have gone through all the posts here and it boils down to the sort of info to share.
Somebody talked about Dr's review but I don't know how that will workout because two people may use the same Dr but come out with two different experiences. In such case it will be difficult to review that Dr.

Yes people will benefit from sharing hospital cost and names but I have issue with people sharing price quotes they recieved privately from a hospital/ Dr then ask people to PM them for that Dr's contact details.

I also have problem with people who recommend Dr and hospital they never used purely because they will get discounts for introducing more clients.

Like I said before the issue is not about sharing info as some keep saying but how much info is the issue here.

Anybody with suggestions how to strike a balance here?
Don't get that part. How do you get discount for a hospital you've not used or don't intend using?

Some are already pros at hoarding information anyway so it's not a problem for them.
You've always struck a balance (as best as you could) why fix what isn't broken?

@maymaj honestly you come across as an agent... your story isn't straight. Apologies if you're not.

I totally understand you, but what do you reckon? That the thread has served its purpose and should be closed? So that agents don't benefit? We have to stop a good course cos of some bad eggs? Throwing the bath water with the baby, no?

Agents have been lurking around this thread from time immemorial. In fact, i think we had more of them in part 1 as we used to expose them on daily basis, but that didn't stop us from moving forward.

Look at it this way: if we have the info on this thread, these agents will have less customers as most people will be armed with the necessary info they need, FOC.

What is the risk of posting openly? Agents could take advantage of it and Naija mamas could bombard the place and they stop taking us. But at least, it gets to help many people. What is the risk of not sharing at all? No one gets the info and we are stuck. The rich ones resort to agents to get half baked info. People like me start doing all night research as i no get money to pay any agent. I would very much prefer the former. Nothing like joining heads together in a life changing journey as this, with people sharing their real life experiences. Personal research doesn't come close. I should know cos i did loads of that.

This is same thing happening to the Canada version of this thread. So many people are interested in birthing in Canada but the ones with info won't share. The thread is as good as dead. This is the way this thread will go if this continues.
I now know the reason I love you. eHugs.

Visa card didn't agree o.
I tired my master card and it worked. Used where I'm staying as billing address and it worked
Oh I dont have any naija issued visa card but I know DH always says to always opt for naira Mastercard when opening a new acc. The visa I used is my Santander UK but I used my normal billing address in the uk for that.
Glad that worked out for you.

Have a lovely Sunday all.

bad news Chai...
What I usually do is use my host's address not naija address as billing address and it works. Used my skye on Walmart, carters, target even to top up my TMobile, used it for car rental etc
But once I opened my BOA, I only used my naija card at the tills. Any online purchase I used my BOA card.

Good luck.

( thank God, didnt want any bruce/caitlyn jenner things after buying too much pink!) and it was through a VBAC too. God is indeed very faithful. I thank Him cos it has ended in praise!

I also agree with both submissions. You do not have legal status to remain in the UK and any attempt to apply for a visa will be rejected. You must be legally present in ANY country to even contemplate applying for a Visa . Your only solution is to return home and settle down before applying . I guarantee you that you will be asked the circumstances surrounding your return to Nigeria after 6years in England. Goodluck as you decide on your next line of action.
Even when you're legally in the UK e.g. Student visa, they'll tell you to go your home country and apply.
I came to Lagos and renewed.

@Bbsy, yours is not a unique one really and I don't see what happened as a lie, white or not. You may send an email though if it makes you feel better.
Truth is there's no hard and fast rule about these things. You cannot deny a question that you weren't asked. Simple as that. These people are not "gods". If you know your rights as a human being, boldly defend your position on the matter. We've heard so many stories that make sense and others that don't, showing that their reasoning isn't one dimensional. As it should be. Relax, have your baby and when it's time to renew your visa, renew it. If they call you for an interview, so be it. Interview isn't rapture.

@Amgizzie, you can PM me for details of Hospitals in Miami. Not sure Justwise will be cool abouty sharing openly. I m heading there soon.
Lol @rapture.... grin
I'm glad she had the courage to share regardless.

Pls lets pass the right information because of newbies that will be reading the thread, its not just enough to pay your bills and get receipts. All interactions are documented in the system. Honesty is encouraged all the way, especially since you are armed with your burden of proof. All responses are documented in the system. We'v had series of good news, so i have been reluctant to share this, but a family friend was turned back from Atlanta on Sat, because when she went to have her first baby she dint declare @ POE. This is someone that went thru dropbox, wasn't pregnant when she got her visa and had all her receipts with her. Some people are lucky but not all

I hope this "White lie" doesn't come to bite her in the future.

@bbsy, Congrats on your successful entry and do have a safe delivery
No one is advocating dishonesty. She even began her post by saying hers is a bit different. So she obviously knows the norm is to declare your intentions no matter what. She probably didn't have the courage to and my school of thought is not to make her feel worse when she already may feel bad.
Everyone here is an adult in their own right, I'm sure they're very aware of actions and consequences.

GC's paediatricians ain't great. My daughter is 13 months & we've used them since our return. We have just been blessed cos she hasn't had any issues except cold. The few times we met the PD, she sounded like she don't know what she's doing. Besides if you are under HMO, you can't see a PD directly. You must see a GP & he must refer you to the PD if he feels necessary or if beyond his comprehension & trust me, he will try not to. We are currently looking for a good Paediatric hospital & least for our LO, while we stick with them till I make my trip.
I heard Ave Maria is very good in pediatrics but they aren't under my HMO and I have to pay out of pocket.
God help me

@Middy, Sorry about your previous loss. May you not experience another of such.

I'm not trying to discredit your statement but I used the hospital in question for both my pregnancies and they were quite professional and thorough.

My first preg was risky and I would have had a miscarriage but for the attention I got there.

Not l3ss than 3 of my friends including one that lost an earlier preg at a high brow hospital have used them and no negative report. The only thing is at the first sign of complication, they will want to push for CS instead of VD.

Another thing is their antenatal patients have multiplied greatly between last yr and now. So you spend a long time there for ANC checkups. I yabbed them that they've turned to General Hospital

I'm not trying to advertise for them but want to share my own experience.

For naija levels they were more than okay. But of course you can't compare that with the medical care here in yankee.
This is life. Some have it good while some are not so lucky. Please I'm signing up for their pediatrics and I'm hoping I'm making the right choice.
Anyho, will try them out still.
@Middy sorry about then ( I think some of us have to go through the whole miscarriage/ preterm labour thing. Heart wrenching!

She told them I'm ready to go back but I need a doctor to tell me I'm fit to fly. They reminded her of the one she brought from Nigeria lol she said it was for a one way trip not a return so she will need another one. When their so called doctor came he said she couldn't fly anywhere o.

A friend and her family of 5 were recently turned back at Chicago POE. She is a frequent US traveller, they all go on yearly vacation 8 years counting, has children but they were all born here in Naija.

I feel so sad for her and just tot to share so that peeps wanting to birth would do their homework very well even if you are a frequent US traveller. Be informed and be prepared. Peace y'all
Chicago poe is a deadly poe. I can never go through it.
Some people just like to brag about how much they spent or didn't spend hmmm 18k is more than enough to show at point of entry. I wouldn't like to carry such cash even if we were a family of 20 (thank God for debit cards) and I don't remember reading that they were renting.
The officer was just wicked. I feel so sorry for that family.

So, i have been hesistant posting my bad experience, but who knows where help can come from.
So it goes thus:
During my visa renewal interview(been to the US before)i denied being pregnant.
(Hadnt come across this thread then)
Fast forward to months later, very slim me with a huge bump at 32 weeks decides to birth in houston.
The cbp officer asks why am here, i say birthing n vac. He said why did i deny being pregnant and sends me in for secondary questioning.
I spent 24 hours there, wasnt allowed to contact my family in the us or 9ja. Paying my docs fee in full didnt help.
I was jst sent back, my visa cancelled and no chance to withdraw my application by myself. They called it misrepresentation of a matrrial fact.
So i kuku come back to port harcourt, had my adorable son and weve been fine.
So thats my story. And all this was in 2013
Now 2nd missionary journey is close. Anyone with ideas on how i am suppose to right this wrong?
@popri, @firsttymum, @ all the gurus here.....
Show me that posting my story here wasnt in vain.
Thanks. .
@tteam sorry about your ordeal. My advise to you is to wait out the ban. My sister had a similar experience too but hers was cancelled without a ban (she used medic aid for her first but paid for the second) She got a lawyer and got another visa almost immediately.
In your case it was misrepresentation. If I were you and I had TIME and money, I will speedily apply for Canadian visa as that's your best option of getting dual citizenship for your unborn.
If you decide to fight it, just have it at the back of your mind that's the chances of winning the appeal is slim. The lawyers in the house please give your professional advise.
All the best.

Sorry about your ordeal dear, even in your pregnant state,na wa o!
like Nefertitiram said in earlier post, stories like these make me keeping thanking God for my host and praying for her, she was my bestie in sec sch (now sister) I stayed with her for 4months in a one bedroom apartment, she left her bed for me all thru my stay and slept on the couch, she made me schedule all my docs appointments for 10/10:30am and drove me thru and fro b4 she left for work, whenever we went grocery shopping I insisted on paying half at least so as not to be living off her, though she refused sometimes, she cooked and stored food for me in her refrigerator, whenever she wasn't available, she got some1 to drive me shopping, though I did 90% of my shopping online( I did that in order not to stress her) she called me on her lunch break everyday she was at work just to be sure I was fine, we prayed together sometimes, when my hubby came she left her car for him for easy movement, I can go on and on,and to think she is still single and wasn't even jealous, when I was leaving, I was in tears cos she was just so good to me, I just kept praying for her, since I left in June, we talk almost everyday, staying with her made us closer, I just bless God for her,
I could have written this. Mine was my primary school bestie o. I had my first with at my Sister's but I wasn't comfortable having my 2nd there ( I can't explain really just felt funny) plus I took my toddler with me (ijogbon special) My bestie turned sister said I should come to Chi town. Mehn! She was heaven sent. I didn't even remember I had a toddler she was his mom all through out even when I was in the hospital for 3 days. She'll cook for me, bathe my son, feed him, scold him when his naughty etc. See struggle to give her money when she's going to African store so I'll go to the Jewel Osco beside the house to supplement with groceries most of which we'll eat sef. She gave up her room for us and would sleep on the couch even when her bf comes they'll both sleep in the living room. Let me not continue but God bless her for me. Pele @Tobermom it's almost over.
Sometimes it's people that aren't related to us that amaze us the most.
