I am sorry, but out of those 3, only Enyeama was very good. At least world-class for a period, especially later in his career. And i beg to differ Etafia wasn't better than Aiyenugba. When Enyeama left in 2004, Aiyenugba won the Nigerian premier league with Enyiba in 2005 and 2007. You may have to provide the timeline during which Etafia was better. Dele was first invited in 2005, when he started for Enyimba. I also believe Etafia featured for Nigeria a couple of times. In 2007, Aiyenugba moved to Isreal, after his success with Enyimba. I am trying to find an instance when Etafia was better, but to no avail.
jihday:
The only time I remember us having problems with our goalkeeping department was '98, Sunday Rotimi and Greg Etafia were good enough to at least replace Aiyenugba as 3rd choice both of them were never given any chance to prove themselves

A team that has a history of having goalkeeper problems. You are trying to slip in a fact you are not sure of. Not because there were no other goalkeepers. What does that even mean? Nigeria has always problems in the Goalkeeping. We have never been spoilt for options in the goal keeping department. Mention any other goalkeeper that was as good as those three while they donned the GWG. You better have a support for whatever fact you put out. Maduka was invited while he competing in Regionalliga west, the 4th-tier of the German league. If he can be invited, others deserve to be featured when called up. This is not a tournament. These are friendly matches were you get to test players.
jihday:
Is he supposed to be rotating keepers? Which team does that? For a long time we had Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba not because there were no other keepers but because it's better to have a settled team
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by benji93: 1:47pm On Oct 13, 2020
You mean coming in as a 70th minute substitute agianst Togo is good enough a test? kontinue. And you must know Rohr in person to be so sure he won't invite other goal keepers. He already has his top 3 or top 4 goalkeepers. What confidence. Even though i won't be surprised if he does that. It's not beyond the Oyinbo average coach. cheesy
jihday:
There's nothing to assess in Alampasu, this isn't the first time he's getting an invite under Rohr he even played against Togo. Whether he uses those guys or not it doesn't change the fact that they won't be invited for next month games as he already has his top 3 even 4 keepers (Akpeyi, Maduka, Uzoho, Ezenwa)

That's a lie. Cos he once mentioned during an interview that he thinks he became the GOAT after the 2016 finals.

Fantastic for a 3rd tier German league? Give me wetin you dey smoke, abeg. You dey talk like you watched all Duseldorf's matches. I remember we debated this issue here a while ago, and i provided information suggesting that he didn't even start all the matches. He warmed the bench for osme of them. cheesy. And you are definitely not listening. Na only him be goalkeeper? Na only him deserve to prove himself? Na only ihm wan build confidence? Dey careful in your next post. No make i para for you. cheesy. Very well, this is useful information. But i believe the switch argument shouldn't even come up unless you already have Nigerian citizenship.

He's actually right.

Nigeria miss Owomoyela

Ogunjobi said the NFA will help the player secure his passport

German-born Patrick Owomoyela will miss Nigeria's game against South Africa on 17 November.

The Arminia Bielefeld player, who holds German nationality through his mother, said he is yet to secure a Nigerian passport.

"I won't make the match because the German government has given me conditions before they will allow me to have both citizenships," the player was quoted as saying on Friday.

"I have to get a certificate that proves that I am eligible to have Nigerian citizenship, as a result of the relationship with my father."

Taiwo Ogunjobi, Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) confirmed the player's withdrawal.

Ogunjobi said the NFA will assist him with securing the passport, which will confirm his eligibility to play for the country and make him available for future matches.

You this guy, be careful. Na when you start dey watch football? Which one be he found his form in mini matches? Oh na you make the formation? I am defitely pulling back from most of my statements. We'll have to wait for the match today to see something. cheesy
smartsmith0907:
Bro I feel you personally ill advise rohr to play all the GKs but playing him doesn't change the fact he might not been invited in November the odds are low
Just I said alampasu and yakubu has been fantastic no caps and I told y'all how okoye fumbled and concede 4 but right now the table has turned in the subsequent mini match okoye found his form and started the Algeria match thats football
And concerning okoye's transfer Brazil means little or nothing to his transfer the move is merited coz he has a very good agent and close ties between the fortuna and sparta thats all.
Yakubu might be a second half substitute he might start today rohr is very unpredictable I made the formation based on what I know and heard thats all. I don't have a favorite among all these players am just an analyst

Oga no dey speak big big English abeg. Na simple minds dey here. cheesy. The last time i checked Maduka is yet to feature for even a cup game. Even when first keeper dey concede 4 goals, dem no gree put am inside. grin. The only thing that's for sure is that Maduka started a significant portion of Dusseldorf II's matches, which competes as as a 3rd-tier German league, before his move to Eredivisie.
smartsmith0907:
lemme give you an indepth analysis of these players

1. Uzoho ( APOEL) plays in Cyprus which is rated 16 by UEFA league rating:- uzoho came to the limelight in 2017 after becoming the youngest foreign Goalkeeper in LA liga and he consistent over the years from his move from deportivo to Elche to anorthosis and now APOEL he has been playing continuously have never heard Uzoho been out for months without playing unless he is injured

2. Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam) plays in Netherlands which is rated 10 according to UEFA league ranking ...okoye is the most undermined player here and damn underrated who ever says Okoye was invited coz he was commenting of NFF post that person is a nonentity and he is BALNTANT liars coz Okoye earned his invitation and was merited
lemme give his synopsis He started in Bayern Leverkusen and moved to Fortuna in 2017 he came to the limelight whe he SINGLE HANDEDLY save his team from relegation( oberliga ) making 5 appearances with 4 clean sheet and conceding just a goal who ever follow regionaliga will tell you how difficult it is to concede a goal in 4 matches vonsidering the scoring spree in the league this was when rohr discovered him In the 2018/2019 season, he became the club regular goalkeeper. He finished the season with 15 appearances, conceding 25 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets. this stat is very impressive considering his age and exposure at that time now he is in Sparta Rotterdam pushing for a No.1 spot

3. okiki LASK playing in Austria Ranked 12 according to UEFA league ranking :- I have a kinda close link with him coz have been following him since age 8 during his days in Asko donau linz
he came to the limelight in 2017 when he broke into LASK junior he went on 46 game spree and went to wels having 8games on his belt now he is in LASK first team playing a UEFA Competition and he will soon be their first choice considering his performance in his last match

now compare these players with alampasu who has played a total sum of 6 games since December 30 2015 till date international match included
https://www.footballcritic.com/dele-alampasu/profile/65554
and played for ventspils which is currently 36 according to UEFA league ranking so my broda the trio has been consistent over the years and are playing right now in a better league than alampasu I understand you're a fan but his time will surely come

I am absolutely furious bout this goalkeeper issue. Is that not the logical thing to do? If na keeper get problem we go know say na keeper get problem. Some of una dey talk say we go complain if we lose again. Yes we will. The last time we lost Maduka wasn't even properly tested. The Algerians were not good, we only took 'not good' to another level. grin. You called three goalkeepers for friendly matches and you won't test the other 2.Se dis Baba get coaching qualifictions sha? We sure say this guy na German so? cheesy. This looks as if he's setting himself up for failure. Why would any coach do something like this. Abi na fake news ni? cheesy. grin

smartsmith0907:
Let us be calming down
He is trying to boost his confidence we all know by November the likes of Yakubu and alampasu Wont be in the SE let's be realistic uzoho,Okiki, and Okoye are the main deal the trio both play in a higher level and they're absolutely better than alampasu and yakubu.

I am afraid, you may have to do better than this. Provide your source. The acquisition of a Nigerian passport doesn't necessarily mean commitment. it could mean the individual wanted more options. It's in human nature to want that.
Karlovich:
Patrick Owomoyela committed to Nigeria, during the process of acquiring a passport he was called up by Rudi Völler and that was the end of it. Komekn has been told the reason it takes longer for English born players but he's still doubting, it took more than a year for Emmanuel Frimpong to switch to Ghana, he should just chill
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by benji93: 2:39am On Oct 13, 2020
Be careful what information you throw out there. Patrick Owomoyela did not commit. @komekn was talking about players that have committed but their switch is taking longer than expected as opposed to a German that got in within weeks. I am starting to see that favoritism myself. I sincerely hope he starts a different goalkeeper tomorrow. Favouritism on top Cluelessness. i no know wetin i go call that one. cheesy
Karlovich:
Pinnick also spoke with and took pictures with Abraham yet he still ended up with England, he still attends Nigerian shows in the UK and also identifies with Nigeria but it doesn't change anything, Patrick Owomoyela was contacted by Nigeria under Christian Chukwu despite committing with the Eagles he ended up with Germany, Same with Sidney Sam under Keshi, Dennis Aogo under Amodu Shuaibu, so unless you are in these player's mind or to an extent their agent you can't guarantee anything despite the fact that you know them individually.

You are only partially correct, bros. Check again. 3 other players that started in the last friendly, were on the bench, when Algeria played us at the nations cup. M Abeid, M Tahrat. We also most of the players we featured this time didn't start against them at the World cup. That point does would not lead to any productive argument. He get why i no use am. cheesy

Make we just let them enjoy this one. cheesy grin. It kind of seems like the just concluded finals was 50/50 and we counted them out. If anything everyone expected a sweep. Perkins in an interview said this is Lebron's second greatest championship. I wan laugh die. cheesy. You mean against a Heat team that barely has 2 stars? cheesy. But well a championship is a championship, another rank to his batch. but it would be blasphemous to call this one of the greatest championships. I mean every player was subjected to the same circumstances, probably unprecedented. i remember they asked Perkins on ESPN about how Lebron's legacy would be impacted if he lost the finals. The guy was trying to hedge his bets, so he said No, he's already above MJ. Now he says he's just surpassed MJ by winning his 4th Championship. But well as someone said, his losing record has been adjusted. We can now call him (4-6) Lebron. cheesy. The guy don suffer for this 4th title no be small. cheesy. Long overdue.

What the hell does potential mean, after the fact? We were terrible simple. Wetin concern you with Algeria? Your 40% argument is not true. It wasn't even 30%. Only M Okoye, Sanusi and Onyeka were started as debutants. Infact ultimately we should be talking about the outfield players. Only two of them debuted. So please. We were terrible. Just 2 new outfield players, and we were that disorganized. We couldn't create clear cut chances. Rohr Out. cheesy
minfelix:
Algeria sef should be ashamed they played a Nigerian team made of 40% debutants/long time returnee a shambolic and meagre 1-0, if they could stressed themselves till 90mins to fortunately beat us 2-1 last year then they played rubbish on Friday(Afcon champion)..they just luckily headed home a corner against a team trying to Gel and struggle till the end..that game was to be a potential draw 0-0...All the same sha they were slightly better than us that night

MJ was 3 out of 3 in the finals. I cannot speak for the people that were callign him the GOAT then. I ma speaking for my self now. I'll never consider Kareem the GOAT for several reasons, which you may be aware of. Besides what is this? Ofcourse another can supercede one in the GOAT conversation. Was MJ playing when WIlt or Russel was?
And regarding your question. I am not quite annoyed or surprised by it. It's your way and it's fine. But i have a question for you as well. Have you been tested for Multiple personality Disorder? I believe that's the better question to ask. cheesy grin.
WeissVonner:
MJ was declared the GOAT after he won 3 titles. Thats what the statue built after those three wins said. This goal post movements and illogical arguments only started when people realized Bron posed a legitimate threat to his legacy. Before Kareem Wilt was considered the GOAT, better than Russell who mostly got the better of him and Wilt only had 2 championships with a losing finals record. The finals record thing only started with LeBron. Its a shameful way for old people to preserve their sentimental beliefs.

My personal question is this, and trust me I have been meaning to ask you this for a very long time.

Have you ever been tested for idiocy?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 4:52pm On Oct 11, 2020
I believe i now understand what your perosnal question means. cheesy. We are not comparing two people that are just anyone. So your argument on that note is kinda not useful. Magic johnson has been to 9 finals, but nobody says he's GOAT over MJ. But ofcourse you could bring him in to help your case. cheesy. Ofcourse we all want to win, but we don't all get to win and the extent to which we win may vary. The ultimate goal of being there is to win the Championship. Some never won the finals, cos there was someone better. We all wish it but it may never manifest, or it manifest to different degrees. It's what it is.
WeissVonner:
LOL Do you realize how dumb this sounds? Is there anyone who plays in the postseason not to win? Why does losing in the postseason only matter when you get further along the line?

Can I ask you a personal question?

That's comparing championships won and nothing more. That's saying this guy never gets to finals and not win it all. But that's not enough for you guys. It's understandable though. cheesy. You then go further and tell us that he went to 9 finals, currently featuring in his tenth and then we tell you nobody remembers the second placed entity in the Olympic games. We talk about Usain Bolt, cos he won gold. But 10 finals is no joke, does that make you happy? cheesy
WeissVonner:
LOL. So when you lot say 3-6, what is that?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by benji93:
See man, you have a way of throwing facts out there without any context. cheesy. Not that your statement is wrong in itself, it's just carefully selected to ignore everthing else. grin. Our argument on this GOAT issue has always been varied. And losing in the first round to a team of Hall of famers is definitely a failing. I mean whoever says MJ did have his own share of failures is delusional. We are comparing MJ to Lebron, so MJs failing and successes to Lebron's failings and successes.
I am fine with asking personal questions, but i would assume you have thought about it well enough and believe it's something that should be talked about on this platform. And if you do ask it, i can defintely decide not to answer it. cheesy. But i trust you are sane enough to understand boundaries.
WeissVonner:
So carrying a pack of bums to the finals and losing to a team of multiple hall of famers is a minor failing but losing in the first round to a team of hall of famers is not a minor failing.

Can I ask you a personal question?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by benji93:
Yes it shouldn't define a person's legacy. No one is denying Lebron's greatness. Even the chief-hater, Skip, as some of you would call him puts Lebron in his top ten. A lot of people put him in their top 3. The argument has always been about the GOAT. All the minor failings are therefore admissible into evidence. cheesy. I mean i could come here and say if Olajuwon had sampson for an extended period of time, maybe he could have won 6/7 rings, maybe he makes it into the GOAT argument. His tenacity. His ability to make the best of the little he had gets him into top ten for most people. That's as far as it goes. In the GOAT conversion coulda woulda becomes less significant. cheesy
WeissVonner:
Both losing records. Point is its shouldn't define a persons legacy.
