Judging from the number of "no" responses to the topic on this thread, I am amazed arranged marriage is rampant in Nigeria And to think I would marry someone I don't love because my parents knows best/wants the best for me i.e. a rich person I will steal their money and disown them before that can happen, and would later return like the prodigal son to seek forgiveness ![]() And yes, I was wrong to disobey them, but then it would be wrong on their part if they cannot forgive me too, so everyone wins in the end ![]() |
As long as her mouth comes with a sticky tape which she knows how and when to apply, WHY NOT, she can stay as long as she wants ![]() I always made an effort to get along with any potential MIL before taking things serious with any guy to guard against situations like this. |
^^^ Easy tiger, thats one of my species, handle with care ![]() |
Okanran:Slow your roll, Debosky was reprimanding us all, twas just that your post was the last in the queue, next time get your post in early, slowcoach And IMHO I don't see why the Moderator has to pander to that big girl's blouse called OMO IBO debosky:MODERATOR FEEDBACK : You should learn to trust your own judgement and not let people railroad you into the overkill stage and like I said before which you deleted you are doing a good job, no make that you were doing a good job Examining who was actually derailing this thread, taking HIGHLY into consideration the subject matter - Debosky: ~ Busy_body/Big_bumper was asking romance related questions from the romantic Romance Section Moderator Debosky in the Romance section. So on this note, I can confidently state that she is/was the only one on this thread following the non-derailment rule to a tee. VERDICT - NOT GUILTY OF THREAD DERAILING ![]() ~ Spikedcylinder was enquiring about acquiring an accomplice to help her commit "a crime of passion" and help her eliminate her love rival Yes I don't support her intent, only because I was the intended victim but she was still not derailing the thread because passion related crime still falls within the remit of Romance VERDICT - NOT GUILTY OF THREAD DERAILING ![]() ~ OMO IBO chose this medium after trying out many other means to seek for help from the "Romance Section Moderator" to help . . . wait a minute Hmmn, now that succinctly explains the reason for his grouse with Debo, but why can't he just man up and step up to the plate. Yes Michelin can be fiery, fiesty, and fierce, but who wants a doormat as a woman, dude you need to quit hiding behind Debosky's skirt and stop being a scaredy-cat and take the bullress by the horn Love is in the air VERDICT - HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM ![]() SERIOUSLY EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHILL LIKE TREETOP RIGHTLY INTONED |
Tgirl4real:Ehn ehn Ebony, na so e be now ehn, which foin brother is that which I don't know about I am not saying happy birthday until Tgirl hands over that "Brova" ![]() |
manmustwac:It is possible, Travelodge recently finished one of such promotions, look out for their next one. You can even get Hilton Hotel in some part of the country for £25 per night. |
manmustwac:You can, but ideally it should be a short-term let apartment. Even though you are allowed to stay a maximum of six months on a tourist visa, you would have to prove you have a lot of money that can sustain you and allow you to stay that long, and a job that would still be waiting for you at the end of that long period. You would also have to prove that you would not recourse to public fund or work illegally. Short-term lets are equally as expensive if not more expensive than some of the hotels around. There are some hotels that offer rooms at £9 per night so if you can get one of those and book for two weeks, it is surely cheaper than renting. You could also look into booking hostel accommodation too as an alternative or look into renting holiday homes/caravans in holiday parks. In addition, you have to pay rent in advance as well as deposit to secure such accommodation, so if money is not an object ![]() |
Hi Mexy_fly, its Busy_body here - its a long story, but enough about me ![]() When you posted that she was adamant to return home and was being cagey about the reason, I knew straightaway that the place held unpleasant memory for her, afterall it was where she ran to, to seek comfort from you only to find you had gone behind her . . . Now that your declaration of undying love plus how you failed her has jolted her back to reality and shifted the momentum and equilibrium, I agree wholeheartedly with Sisterwoman's input BUT ignore the bit where she said you need to put your foot down Any sign from you showing you are fed up can flick the switch back to square one again and undo all the hard work you have done to win her back, and trigger unpleasant thoughts that you betrayed her, that you were not there for her, that you applied to divorce her and that you are now giving her an ultimatum . . . Abeg, don't undo all you have done, forget about worrying about yourself for now, she is already doing that, just keep on being there for her ![]() If you cannot afford to move out for now, let her know, and meet her in the middle, go to see her as much as you can, continue to show her you love her and want the best for her. CAll her from work as often as you can to tell her you miss her, send her random text messages to remind her she is beautiful and to erase her thoughts that she is tainted goods. She will come round and forgive you with time. Whilst you are doing all this for her, it will give her time to think that "since it was not a random person that attacked her, maybe she led him on or maybe she stupidly ignored the signals or maybe she has several opportunities to nip it in the bud or . . . And this will help her come to the realisation that she cannot lay the whole blame at your feet and hopefully would make her see you in a new light and that you still genuinely want her back because you love her and care about her. Hang in there, your work is nearly done. |
. . . Then I progressed to being a security guard, working 72+ hours per week. And then I had my first massive breakthrough, I got an office job paying me 13K pa, lol. But then gradually I worked my way up the career ladder and now I'm glad to say that I no longer have to do the shitty jobs! . . .
Sorry if it seems all we are just doing is asking questions, but are you saying YOU WORKED OVER 72 HOURS PER WEEK AS A SECURITY GUARD YET DID NOT MAKE UP TO £13K PER ANNUM AND YOU STILL LOVE UK ENOUGH TO CALL IT HOME |
Dis Guy:With Burantashi, Spanishfly, Viagra and Ogogoro combined, I don't see how that can be a problem, can you? ![]() ikamefa:My sister its not like that, that wasn't what I wanted to say honestly, there was an error in transmission because my keyboard jammed thats all ![]() wwheelz:Don't mind those two jare, they want to corrupt a good girl like me, I have told them off for having a dirty mind and have told them to get thee behind me ![]() |
Na wah oh, didn't know we had so many Methuselaic geriatrics in our midst sha Lest I forget too, I would be sinning if I say I know the Bible, all I am saying like every other level headed people is that a perceived sin is just that - a perceived sin. |
I believe it can work as long as there is some level respect and compatibility. |
Very matured dialogue and constructive argument between two dissenting parties, even Gestapo too I am impressed, keep it up ![]() But come o Carshopper, na the high exchange rate cause this one or you wan build mansion on top water abi na wetin Or you too wan marry this year ni, this naija babes and their long throat sef Softly softly o ![]() |
On a lighter note, have you received any invitation in the mail for Inspired_men and Igwe's forthcoming wedding As the first wife to both of them I am vexed that they have excluded me from the planning of the whole shindig and the d-day itself and I fear I might not get a chance to sit at the high table What cheek, do they think I am going to commandeer or sabotage the show ![]() |
Karmamod is a nice and classy person, I have seen her in action defending peeps Thanks for nominating me, even for the gbeborun one sef ![]() And even though Dafidi is trying to rain on our parade and rubbish our achievement by saying it will not add two inches to our height, we accept it well well, now all we have to do now is find the nearest bank to cash it Tgirl4real, be a sport and kindly post and translate the question for me so that I can do my own nomination too, and whilst you are at it, help me warn that new girl demistify to get my hubby debosky's name outta her mouth is he the only man here or else this place will not contain both of us Good girl, I know I can count on you ![]() |
Tgirl4real:Bravo, you ain't never lied |
Your boyfriend is hurt and is revenging and paying you back in your own coin. Unless you are both ready to start playing hide and seek and start cheating behind each other's back and forgiving each other, and then doing the same thing over and over and over again, cut your loss and move on. |
wwheelz:Hey, feel free to come crash at mine anytime, what are friends for ehn But there is a clause - you have to send me your shoe size before hand, so that I can ascertain whether your visit is worth my while ![]() |
Vicjustice:Aawww thanks, happy to see you around too, seems like the whole crew is back, save for Londoncool, Incagold, Muyiwabanks, Liliana and Imani. Hope all is well with them. One thing I admire about you is your humble spirit, and the fact that you are able to put your hands up when wrong, keep it up ![]() |
shapey:Aawww thanks, I like you too, and find you hilarious and funny too Hope this year's summer is better than last year sha ![]() @ lastpages You have the right attitude, grab the opportunity with both hands. The same God that provided the means to procure the UK visa is the same God that would make a way for the US visa you are going to use to travel to the States to deliver your next pikin ![]() As for the invoice, google drfoster.co.uk, it will give you the names and numbers and location of all the hospitals in the UK, and to give you the information of the local hospital you need. What some people tend to do (not advisable IMHO) is wait till the last minute before presenting themselves at the hospital. By law, emergencies have to be treated before any questions can be asked or before questions about ability to pay can be queried, and a woman in labour is an emergency case so . . . |
Tgirl4real:HAPPY BIRTHDAY TGIRL4REAL No vex yeah, the cargo containing ur present will reach Nigeria in 3 weeks time Meanwhile , can you do me a favour, twas TK417's pix that I said you should upload, I feel this urge to protect him from undesirable elements, and not because he works in the corporate sector or because he is acquiring a ride in the region of ![]() |
Vicjustice:Yeah, you should have stayed outta this, for real Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it is rude to point, it is rude to stare . . . Hope you get the drift And by the way, is it not the same Bible that says people should not eat anything that crawls on the ground e.g snails or anything found in the sea-bed e.g prawns or that people should not mix materials or is it not the same Bible that said Jesus said He did not come to make peace but to turn mothers against children . . . Abeg, keep your sanctimonius opinion to yourself and live and let live ![]() By the way, happy new year Vicjustice |
ty4real: Did Jenny send you to me too Warn her if you know her oh, she has been spreading rumours that she is your first wife and that you are just marrying me so that I can help with the housework ![]() Treetop20:A certain someone needed assistance with some visa related query, and another someone was already in the process of helping but got wind of the fact that the guy is gay, and decided to announce loudly that he was no longer willing to help on the basis that being gay is a despicable sin and an abomination ![]() Hence Siena's input that a sin is a sin ![]() |
realcool:Na wa oh Where has Phuket insulted you All he has said is that you should stop insinuating that he is a liar, SIMPLE ![]() |
shapey:ECO's have no right to exercise any discretion, all they are allowed to do is look at balance of probabilities. If that was the only ground of refusal, all your Aunty's representative has to utter before the Judge is that the reason for refusal was based on an oversight from a third party. If the onus is not on the appellant to state the date of her graduation anywhere on the post study work extension form, or even if she stated it on the form, but the ECO went with the University's blank page instead, the Jugde would have no choice than to overturn that ECO'S decision ![]() With regards to the acquisition of the citizenship status, I am glad what you said was "it is almost impossible . . ." which means it can be done And I know what I am talking about too Its just like those Nigerian customs telling you you are not allowed to carry fish or the DSS/DWP telling you that you cannot claim benefits as a fulltime student unless you are a lone parent ![]() And as for you people bringing up suggestions that the OP should apply to the states, no be dem dey bounce visa applicants pass abi you wan make dem soil Lastpages pali with their rejection stamp Or do you want them to mistakenly stamp the refusal directly on her British visa ![]() You people are bullies see as I am having to contemplate and ponder at least 10 times before plucking the gumption to use a smilie @ My Dearest Darling Debo ![]() |
debosky:Well mon darlink Applying and being granted a visa to the UK is not/and never been discretionary, because once you meet all the requirement and have not falsified anything, it has to be issued, it is as straightforward as that. The ECO's are infallible beings, so if they get it wrong, you have the right to appeal in most category. The appeal is done before the Immigration Judge on a point of law, and hence he can overturn the ECO's decision if the law was not correctly applied. Moreoever, the discretionary ground is not only applicable to people whose parents don't have settled status, people applying under the HSMP, workpermit, unmarried partner, born to British father not married to the unsettled status mother btw 1983 and 2006, etc all have to apply under this ground too etc And once again, a child that was born abroad to a non-British/non-settled parent can apply for citizenship in this country, so why not one that was born here. What are Solicitors and Barristers for, and I know some firms who likes taking on challenging roles like this. Some even work pro bono and it is now also possible to instruct a Barrister directly without going through a Solicitor debosky:To give you one example: Let the child visit once in 3 years if you can afford it, when he/she gets to a certain age, put his name down for a school, apply for a visa next time and state that you are taking the child to exercise his right under the Nationality Act, BINGO You have to explain the child's connection to the UK, where his/her future lies, and add as much compelling circumstances as you can.And thats just an example, left to me, I don't have the patience for long thing, I would march right up there, and just go for the jugular, and simply demand my daughter's right. If they refuse to give me, I would take it to the Tribunal myself And I agree it can be a tall order and it might be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle but it has been done before and besides you can always fall back on the anything goes HR Act like I mentioned earlier. You are the one wearing the shoe and the one who knows where it is hu rting so if they tell you to write 25,000 essay wouldn't you jump right in debosky:Of course you can do that if and only if you meet the requirements for those categories of visas, but then thats a case of "if wishes were horses innit . . . " debosky:Well the OP already has a current visit visa to the UK hence the reason for Hauwa's penultimate post, and I might not be correct here but I think you can only be pregnant for so long, I think it was around the 9/10 months mark the last time I checked so I doubt she has time to apply for a US visa for now ![]() |
Once again I join hands with phuket and say; phuket:Chei, the only thing paining me outta all this is that I thought Phuket would be moving back to Seychelles once his stint in Singapore was over, I didn't expect him to fall in love and move to the UK |
VOR:With British citizenship, there is "automatic entitlement","registration by entitlement," and "registration by discretion". No action is needed for the "automatic entitlement route", but the application form one has to fill for the "registration by entitlement" route and fis different from the application form one needs to fill in for the "registration by discretion" route. The route which Ilelobola mentioned comes under the "registration by entitlement" umbrella - Section 1(4) of the British Nationality Act - and is applicable after the child's first 10 years, whether the parents have settled status or not. Even the 90 days maximum the child should not be out of the Country, is discretionary and can be waived in special circumstances. However, section 3(1) of the same 1981 Act, which is a separate entity on its own, provides for people to acquire citizenship on discretionary grounds - registration by discretion, of which there is no formal requirement other than be under the age of 18 and have good character if over 10 years of age. This is also the section applicable to those deemed illegitimate before 1st of July 2006 because their father who is the British citizen was unmarried. . . Parents who are applying for settlement also have to use this section to register their children as British Citizens, as well as those children born in the UK whose parents have either no settled status nor are British citizens, and this is the section the OP Lastpages would fall under. Under this ground, there is no minimum or maximum time you should have spent in the UK. It is all done on merits and discretion so one has to present a very convincing case. Any parent of a child born in the UK can apply for this on behalf of the child, whether you have settled status or not. The onus is on the parent to table as much reasons as possible, as to why they think the child should be accorded citizenship. Apart from these aforementioned 3 routes, there is also the chance for the child to naturalise if they are applying once they are over the age of 18. If the OP Lastpages, secures an unmarried partner visa or a marriage visa, she is eligible to apply for ILR after 2 years continuous residence in the country, and this confers the right of instant "registration by entitlement" to her son/daughter and even children not born in this country, under Section 3(1) of the Act and the child does not have to wait till age 10. If Lastpages applies for workpermit visa, HSMP visa, Investors visa, etc of which you are eligible to apply for ILR after 5 years, once again this confers "registration by entitlement" on the son/daughter as soon as her ILR comes through too, and again there is no need to wait till the child is age 10. So if a British born child without an automatic right to citizenship applies for a visa, he/she cannot be refused because that child could have been coming to exercise his right under section 3(1) of the British Nationality Act, and neither would the parents because they have to do the legwork. Think about this, why should someone born in the country have to wait 10 years to secure citizenship, whilst someone who marries a British citizen can apply for ILR and citizenship for his/herself as well as children not even born in the country within 3 years. Or a person on workpermit, HSMP, etc gets the chance to apply for his wifey/hubby and children whom might not even have been born in this country after 5 years. THAT WOULD BE DEEMED TOTALLY UNFAIR, HENCE the special provision under section 3(1). There is always an exception to every rule and if in doubt, unleash the Human Right Act on their arse @ Ilelobola Sorry ma, for some strange reason I thought you were the poster Iranoladun who has issues with her stepdaughter hence the reason my post on that househelp thread was lost of you, abeg no vex ![]() |
VOR:Chei, you caught me red-handed, there was me hoping you would have forgotten ![]() Okay. here goes: |
