On to more serious matter, the other thing is that about a year ago, the car I was driving was rolling forward down a small hill and I mistakenly hit the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes, and a passerby panicked and jumped inside the gutter, thinking the car was coming at her. I have not driven since then due to the sheer terror that I was in charge and nearly lost control of a one ton killing machine

As for the pacifier/dummy, hmmn, all I know is that my Mum hates the thing with a passion but one day decided to try it with my baby, he spat it out straightaway and it flew about 2 feet away, she cleaned it and re-inserted it, thinking that maybe she did not put it in his mouth properly, this time my son made sure she got the message by spitting it out over 10 feet away

Absolutely. It is obvious that the benefits of the MODIFY button outweighs the disadvantages (if any).
Some people are against it because they feel sad that other people enjoy the benefits, this is saddist attitude.
Now, as for the short timing, while i don't think it's the best idea for the MODIFY button to be timed, but if it must be, then i'll suggest that it should be timed for up to 24 hours. 5 or 10 minutes timing might be too short a time to realise error or to remember additional information.

As per the vote, I vote indifference because most trigger-happy people complaining about the removal of the modify button are just simply lazy to take 10 seconds of their time to use the preview button to proofread their grammatical blunders


A couple of suggestions could be to either:

Put back the modify button but make it dissapear/timeout after 10 minutes - that is enough time for someone to correct their spelling error or grammar

                                              or

As done in some forums, have people explain the reason for the edit, plus the time their post was edited

My take on this is that, it is possible for them to post stuffs, harvest enough victims then go and modify their posts and It could also be useful for those who specialise in phishing
