No photographs attached here please is the current state of 1465? What clearing stage was it in before the lock down? Is it on the tarmac or in the shed? Also what level of protection from the weather and pilfering did your company instill on the shipments? Thanks r231: Dear Valued Customer, This is to inform you that the strike has been called off in Nigeria, but clearing has not yet commence due to the fact that the customs are demanding a whole lot of money on demurrage from the Agents. We are told that the clearing Agent and the customs are meeting today as soon as this issue is resolved clearing will commence. Please note, there might be a delay in clearing due to the back-log. Attached are the pictures of how the terminal looks like because of the strike. We appreciate your patience on this matter and we promise that as soon as the whole issue is been resolved, we will try and hasten the clearing as possible. Best regards, The Team at Midas Express Shipping & Freight, |

I understand all these though, my issue is with the delays caused by this crisis. It's Nigerian ego thing and the customs won't change. My package said to have left US since 8th or 14th November is still somewhere on the tarmac who knows cause of this issue. If only freighters can come out plain to importers issues such as this won't be happening On the other hand if it's in Ghana, it's clear and transparent no issues with ego or all these agent/Customs fighting. It's sad. Hoping one gets delivery before Christmas and intact too ZACHIE: Well chargeable weight is different from actual weight and in airfreighting, the airline will choose whichever is higher. This apply even in Tibet, so going to Ghana will not change anything, Sister.
There are 2 applications to this: an import of say empty Suitcases will occupy space but will be light. The chargeable weight will be the dimensional area mass occupied by the suitcase and not its actual or scale weight.
The other one is a little technical and it is used only for paying freights |

Typical Visa card way of doing tinz . mavinc4u: I don't think Gtbank does that unless they started that recently. The bank card that performs that wonder is First bank visa prepaid naira card. They will deduct at the point of transaction and deduct another money the next day to balance up and would finally deduct another money when it hits their end. |

Come you guys chill naaaa! We all know Nigeria use the Zip/Post Code system albeit it not working We are also not ignorant of the fact that using USPS or NIPOST is like swimming the the deep blue sea ...anything happens so please lets stop the fighting and concentrate on the NAHCO tinz ...abeg onegig:

You're really an ignorant dunce. If you really read my post, u wouldn't post that poo u call a response. Where in my post did I say I had a bad time with Nipost? Where in my post did I pass a wrong information about Nipost? And if I did, copy and bold it out for all to see, I dare you.
You probably had d privilege of receiving some stray packets from wherever, china? And u think u know how shipping works?
I haven't even asked u about american zip code patterns and you're starting a whole Iknowitall on that already. I simply asked u to tell me what is Lagos zip code since you're suggesting in your ignorance dat american modelled zip code and nigerian postal codes are the same, and more than that tell me what's the extended zip code for surulere, if there is anything like dat.
We use postal codes slowpoke, and I bet you don't know the postal code of your area self. Juvenile penchant china buyers claiming aristotle. |

Well the shippers/frieghters already charge what they call ' Chargeable Weight' separate from the ' Actual Weight' I don taya sef. I think coming year I just go the route through Ghana ....ar don taya ZACHIE: Not good news but it must be said since you asked for it.
Customs have decided to double the Duty benchmark hitherto paid on all shipmenst. Before now, minimum Duty benchmark was 50,000/ shipment of less than 50kgs. Now that it is doubled, it means you pay 100,000 for any shipment of less than 50kgs regardless of its value/cost. (I will post the intended tariff later on)
And this is beside NAHCO/SAHCOL handling charges, SON/NAFDAC for regulated items, Agency fee and documentation expenses and transportation charges.
Welcome to the changes Olanrewaju brought to the Airport.
Before now, you could arrange to do tarmac pickup for small items and parcels. But with what is coming, you cannot do that.
They may just have killed little businesses with this obnoxious increased benchmark.
Conversely, this might also mean an upsurge in the number of importers doing proper PAAR documentation. |

Exactly ....I just hope and pray there would no surge forward when work starts leading to another closure because right now to be candid ...it might be worse compared to the pre-closure days. No more APC, no more restraining of agents and as such pilfering may be the order of the day. Licensed and non-licensed agents should just try and cooperate lets clear the backlogs before the Christmas rush. How I wished I could address the agents. Caveatemptor: Please people should take things easy. There is a serious congestion at the airport with goods strewn all over the tarmac. The Comptroller generalbwas mad at Comptroller Olanrewaju when he saw the extent of the congestion on that tarmac. So we need to give the new man Adegoke a lot of time to see how he can unravel the puzzle. Entries must be passed before all those goods on the tarmac can be removed from the airport. Please patience is needed seriously so that the new man can serve us better. I am sure once the sheds. are open the vustoms will work through out the weekend to try and clear this mess. peace. |

Thank you TheMadame we appreciate your gesture and thank God for answered prayers. Now hoping the agents behave and clearing goes on unabated. TheMadame: Sitrep. The comptroller general of customs Dikko Inde has visited the MMIA today at about 1000 hours to 1200 hours. He came along with comptroller Olanrewaju and new comptroller Adegoke. He addressed a parade of officers of the command and expressed his disappointment at the attitude of former comptroller Olanrewaju and all officers serving at the command. He threatened to transfer all officers in the command with transfer to Borno/Yobe command where they will be better appreciated. He equally met with clearing agents whom he lambasted for their animalistic behavior and disregard for constituted authority. He threatened to henceforth prosecute any agent/tout who attacked any customs officer on his legitimate duty. Olanrewaju is currently handing over to new compt Adegoke at the time I left the airport and hopefully work should/could resume tomorrow. Fingers crossed. |

Thats nice and I also hope when the sheds are opened, the agents won't all rush in as if its some big bonanza sales going on. I wish they would behave orderly else it maybe shut down again. Please anyone close to the agents should beg them to exercise restraints ...being too heady these days may not be helpful. MAITEMA: Reports say that the Comptroller General from Abuja is in Lagos and is touring the cargo section of MMIA at the moment.
Fingers crossed. |

Guy ....it will take time once its in Nigeria as it would first land in Lagos, gets handed over to NIPOST at either SAHCO or NAHCO shed , transferred to the NIPOST sorting center from where it will be sent to your state of location by road (or annexed by the NIPOST sorting staff whoever desires it)...before getting to you. All in all ....look forward to the package in the New Year latest. I would also advise that you make friends with the NIPOST men closest to your area cos it will definitely come through there. Please and please stop using USPS for valuable and costly items o! Lexyp: I don't know if nipost are affected by this because have been expecting a package since on 12th and has left us since on 12th of November and still on transit till now, I tried contacting who sent me and was told the package not in us anymore that is now in Nigerian but all I keep seeing when i track it is on transit since on 12th of November what is the probability am going to be having my package anytime from now ? |

You de complain ....wait till they introduce coins dispensing. Nor forget say they never repeal that requirements for the banks to ensure part of every withdrawal is made in coins sweettease: Really? That's their best idea? This is just a bad idea on so many levels. You can't withdraw certain amounts over the counter and now they want to torture us with smaller denominations... Imagine withdrawing just 10k when an ATM is dispensing N100 notes, not to talk of a higher withdrawal. |

Before anyone rejoices,he is rumoured to be tougher, more difficult and stricter than the out going Olanrewaju. More details will emerge after the Customs officers parade scheduled to take place tomorrow at 0700 hours. That is where it is rumoured that Olanrewaju will hand over to Adewole. Fingers crossed. |

You may need to confirm to the bank true ownership of the card as they probably blocked it to prevent it from being used fraudulently. China and some Asian + Eastern European countries are regarded as high risk when it comes to card usage. Seeing transactions on the card coming from that end must have triggered an alert. Send GTBank a strong worded email including the scan copy of the card (NOTE: bloat out the middle numbers on the card expose just de first 6 and last 4 digits). They might be able to assist you. SmooshCHN: Hello, please I'm Sorry if this is not the proper means to get or ask for solution to my problem. When you clear in Ghana... How do you bring in to Nigeria? Free? helphelp: The federal government will incur tariff losses on goods imported through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, if the threat by importers and exporters, under the aegis of the Lagos State Shippers Association (LSSA) to divert their cargoe to Accra becomes a reality. The planned diversion follows on the heels of the closure of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) and Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) after a faceoff between clearing agents and officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) last two week.
The shippers’ sheds at the two cargo handling companies have been short for about 10 days now, with the importers lamenting loss of income to demurrage charges on their imported cargoes.
The association’s president, Mr Jonathan Nicol, said his group would direct its members to divert their cargoe to Ghana as the cargo sheds at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as the agents under the aegis of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the Customs refused to shift grounds on their differences. “We are taking this stand because goods stocked in the sheds are attracting huge demurrage and we cannot not quantify how much loss we have been incurring. The shippers are losing so much, especially at this time that we have supply contracts to our various clients,” Nicol said. |
