Hmmmm ....tht hit is what I fear but since I'm just starting off, I'm sure I would pick up, I just wanted to sure AMEX won't cancel my credit because I moved cheesy

Lexusgs430:
Credit scoring hates swaps and changes, it could seem like a pre-maradona move ......... cheesy

But if you have to, you have to ......... Take the initial hit, which would recover over time ...........

What line of business are they into? By contract I mean the terms of your employment with them because there's no way they will give you a Cos for 5 years without any form of contract. Also didn't you negotiate your wages with them before leaving Nigeria?

progress160:
I didn't sign any contract with them. They gave me a 5 years COS, no relocation package or anything. I have been staying in an hotel with my family since I arrived and getting a place has been very difficult and the company said they can do nothing about it except giving me reference if a landlord accepts and no landlord is willing to accept us right now except we pay 6 months upfront or have stayed up to 6 months in the UK. It's like they want to get rid of me and are looking for any flimsy excuse to do so

Makes sense really. Financial discipline is key here.

hustla:
I was initially doing 25% when I asked

... but then I didnt want to run into issues so i reduced to 15 and now I am looking at 7 - 10%. As long as my score goes up, I really dont care for the limit increase

£1,000 is okay for a student who wants to learn the ropes

wink
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 9:56am On Nov 10, 2022
May be your usage wasn't that encouraging enough. Use up to 30% and see cheesy

hustla:
Asked them for a limit increase after 3 months, they declined to increase it LOL

Ill ask again in December / Jan

So their reply will probably be your Nairaland profile picture grin

TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:33am On Nov 10, 2022
Very true and sad really. May be because a lot of people demand it rather than earn it. You earn it when you have all qualifications and know your rights to be sponsored for one rather than the other way round. The OP obviously demanded it without knowing his/her rights or did not meet the requirements of the job and was given, now they are using that inadequacy to threaten him/her knowing backing out won't be an option

LagosismyHome:
There is a lot of modern day slavery with this tier 2 , its very sad to see.... employers are just exploiting immigrants left and right in so many ways. I hope anyone in that shoe 5 years fly by so quickly
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:25am On Nov 10, 2022
Very true. Abeg how long before Amex CC increase person limit? Or do I have to specifically ask?

Well if he has the means here to pay back, why not. His monkey his circus cheesy I'm sure he's trading the Pounds to Naira and saving back home or forming hin don arrive then hustle to pay back here. The fact he got £3000 out means he must have good credit limit on the CC undecided

hustla:
My guy took out £3K smiley

Not sure how he did it but he said something along the lines of what I wrote

Didnt wait to confirm, I dont like tampering with rubbish as we all have different aspirations and UK life waka wink
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:11am On Nov 10, 2022
Joooooor what kind of visa sponsorship arrangement do you have with these people that they're holding your balls tight so? The threats are too many and looks more like abuse to me. You may have to report them to the authorities if you think your visa sponsorship is genuine and prepare to make the move away.

progress160:
Hello guys. I posted about driving bruhaha where I worked. Although my company advised me to apply for a provincial license which I have done, I noticed they have been very cold towards me since then. They find fault in everything I do and threaten to send me home at any slight instant. They are delibrately frustrating me. I get accused for things I didn't do and I am not given a chance to defend myself. Currently I trek several miles daily to see clients because my company said I can only buy a car until I get my pass my driving test and I can't use my international license. They paid me without a pay slip and wen I requested they ignored. I was threatened that I will be sent home if any report comes about me. I am tired. I just called another company who are willing to sponsor me after an interview.

My question. Can I go with the new company because I have only worked for a month with my current company. What about my dependents, do they need to apply as well
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:08am On Nov 10, 2022
I was going to point out this too cheesy but its a bad idea no matter the intent.

hustla:
I think the trick is to take the GBP out, convert to naira and then use naija bank rate to pay back if possible

Problem is when the bank rate doesn't come and you owe cash + interest

grin
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 9:42pm On Nov 09, 2022
Una carry round tripping from Naija enter UK eh? Soon they will stop or tighten CC issuance requirement to Nigerians cheesy

hustla:
But for the PayPal bit, I think they make it seems like it's an outgoing payment to someone and the person sends it back

Probably not going to be an issue that way

smiley

I have come to realise that understanding the non-salary benefits are as important as the Annual Pay. When I moved from a Company without benefits to one with benefits, I realised that the benefits alone amount to almost half of the Annual Pay but no one talks about it.

Please is the covid test or card still compulsory in 2022? - Yes you need a fully vaccinated status to enter without being subjected to on-arrival test which cost $50 or being vaccinated at the airport before entry.

Any suggestion on how to go about getting a sim card ? - You can get a SIM card for 30 days use after which you would need a Ghana Card to retain the line if staying beyond 60 days.

@biggtt76
And others that have knowledge of it please help. - Avoid any illegality or criminal behaviour that would put you at logger heads with the authorities. All the best

CelebritiesRe: Singer Davido Unfollows Son On Instagram And Some Other Irrelevant Friends by bigtt76(f): 8:00am On Nov 08, 2022
Omo, that's too extreme unfollowing them. They had booked and paid long before your misfortune so don't blame them. People still bleeped on the day it happened so don't be enraged. God bless Ifeanyi's soul. Amen

OtexDbaba:
Davido deletes all his pinned post; he also deleted his anticipating festival post, A.W.A.Y, that is slated to take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on November 18, 2022
Also, Davido who has 25.8M followers on his verified Instagram page and following 1,6777 followers before the death of his son made changes has he unfollowed three (3) accounts from his followers.

Superstar Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke professionally known as Davido has made some changes on his Instagram page, unfollows Late Ifeanyi IG account, DJ Cuppy and Femi Otedola

Recall on October 31st, Ifeanyi drowned at his dad home in Banana Island while his parents were on a trip to Ibadan and was left with the domestic staffs.

Ifeanyi was rushed to the Evercare Hospital in Lekki were he was pronounced dead on arrival. The tragic death sparked a lot of reactions as many netizens as well as celebrities, politicians, socialites, public figures trooped to express their heartfelt condonlences.

However, following the death of his son, Davido makes some changes on his verified Instagram page.

Davido deletes all his pinned post; he also deleted his anticipating festival post, A.W.A.Y, that is slated to take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on November 18, 2022. He had already invited artistes that include, Kizz Daniel, Wande Coal, Lojay, Pheelz, Oxlade, BNXN (fka Buju), Focalistc and Victony.

Also, Davido who has 25.8M followers on his verified Instagram page and following 1,6777 followers before the death of his son made changes has he unfollowed three (3) accounts from his followers.

Further reports claimed Davido allegedly unfollows Late Ifeanyi IG account, DJ Cuppy and Femi Otedola. I can bet he did so because they were supposed to be family members and they have not by any means reached out or post a condolence message to him and his family over the lose of his child rather they went to family boat cruising to celebrate billionaire Otedola's birthday..

Meanwhile after being silent for too long, one of the most unwanted journalist Kemi was busy saying that he's not doing enough to mourn his son publicly.. Ifeanyi was a smart playful kid, may his gentle soul keep resting in peace Amen..

Any help would be appreciated.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:33am On Nov 02, 2022
It means you are restricted from working in certain fields on the visa category you are on for example

1. You can't work as a sportsman or sportswoman (eg signing for Chelsea or Man U)
2. You can't enjoy government funds paid to their citizens in form of aid to help cushion the effect of inflation or cost of living or others.

jagbasneh:

Pls can you share the name of a reputable insurance you use for dental issues?

wallg123:
I use dental insurance through my job and I pay £8 a month. Whenever I go to the dentist I send the receipt to the insurance and they refund me whatever I spent at the dentist. Try taking up dental insurance that way u can go see any private dentist and get your money back.

The owner of the house should have provided adequate protection around the pool know there's a kid in the house

Shalommy:
Davido should be hold responsible. Because few days back he was playing with that boy in that same pool. So, the boy liked it and that's why he sneaked out to have fun by himself again. Rip to him.

Sounds good but how does the Topcashback work? Minds explaining more on this?

Estroller:
I was going to suggest carphone warehouse (got a generous deal with them recently via topcashback) but it seems they do credit check before offering contract. You might explore the option of outright purchase with the generous discount on offer through topcashback. I got like £200+ back in cashbacks from topcashback and carphone warehouse themselves for a device I bought at £450 on a 0% purchase credit card. Not a bad deal at all I presume. wink
