I am always careful when using the word "impossible", especially when I am not aware of the full facts.
I will give you an example.
My spouse and I came for our masters at the same time. Neither of us workd for an hour during our study and yet ALL our bills were paid. Now I am sure you are screaming "IMPOSSIBLE".

Can someone above 40 years open a Cash LISA account? If no, what then is the alternative to to go for?

ukay2:
For CASH LISA account holders, do not forget to get the £4,000 into it to get the free 25% ((£1,000) by end of tax year in 5th April 2023. This could be used to deposit for your first mortgage house. Husband and wife less than 40 years could open this account and save upto £10,000 each tax year until both reach 50 years when you cannot save money in the LISA account.

For STOCK & SHARES ISA account holders, do not forget to max out the £20,000 allowance per tax year, 5th April, 2023. When you max out the £20k in stocks and shares ISA account, you can keep putting more funds in your General Investment Account.

There are so many stocks that are quite cheap in NYSE...you can cherry pick good dividend paying stocks with dividend yields upto 6-8%.

Remember that profits from stocks and share lSA account and dividend payments from your stocks and shares ISA account are not TAXABLE....tax man doesn't look into these earnings

Slow and steady win in the market....

HAPPY 2023.....

Femeto:
With 20 dollars daily limit? To even get a dollar card it takes months. Whereas you naira card can be ready in one day. Who we offend for Nigeria?
BusinessRe: GTB Suspends International Transaction On Naira Cards by bigtt76(f): 7:55pm On Dec 30, 2022
Yes so what it means is that except you have serious need for the dollars, you don't have business trying to access it.

Previously, with the Naira card, card holders with funds on the account engaged and in impulsive purchases or engaging in currency prospecting

dazzlingd:
Naira card is cheaper to use against dollar card. The option that favors naira most is using naira card to get dollar at a cheaper rate.
Now that they have stopped the use of naira card, people will be forced to buy dollar at black market rate which will further increase the demand for dollar and increase in the price of dollar

Guaranty Trust Bank has announced that its naira cards will no longer be used for international transactions starting December 31, Reports.

This means customers using the GTBank mastercard can no longer use their naira debit cards to pay for transactions originated in foreign currency.

Nigerian Banks had in March reduced their monthly international spending limit on naira cards citing “current market realities on foreign exchange.”

The banks gradually reduced their monthly international spending limit on naira cards from $100/$120 to $50/$20.

In September, several banks suspended international transactions on naira cards. GTB announced its decision on Thursday.

Read Their Statement On The Email Inbox As Obtained By Below:

“Dear Customer, we write to inform you that you will no longer be able to use your Naira Mastercard for international online and POS transactions effective 31st December 2022. Kindly note that you can use your GTBank dollar card for all your international spending requirements,” the bank said in an emailed memo.

“According to the bank, the dollar card allows ATM Withdrawal of $1,000 daily or the equivalent in the transaction’s local currency. It added that with the dollar card, there is no limit to international PoS or online transactions. There will also be no annual spending limit,” it said.

Nigeria has suffered an importation-fuelled foreign exchange crisis for years, but the scarcity worsened in 2021 with its export proceeds declining amid increaed supply for foreign exchange. The dollar exchanges for naira at about 440 a dollar at the official market and N740 a dollar at the parallel market.

As of December 28, Nigeria’s foreign reserve fell to $37billion, compared to $37.1 billion recorded as of November 28.

PoliticsRe: DSS Deploys Operatives To Arrest Godwin Emefiele On Sight - Peoples Gazette by bigtt76(f): 1:36pm On Dec 24, 2022
Baba don vooooom cheesy

Naijalarry:
The State Security Service has started exercising a be-on-the-lookout for Governor Godwin Emefiele of the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to two officials familiar with the matter.

Consequently, the domestic intelligence office has deployed several officers to monitor the CBN Headquarters, Mr Emefiele’s family residence in Lagos, and the Abuja home of businessman Christopher Emefiele, unrelated by blood, Peoples Gazette learnt this weekend.

An SSS officer familiar with the matter said the deployment came from an assistant director and could not immediately say whether or not Director-General Yusuf Bichi signed off on it.

“We have different teams of at least two each monitoring those places,” the officer said under anonymity to disclose cursory specifics of an ongoing operation. “We don’t know if they have more people deployed to even more places, but we did not see any signal from the DG’s office to suggest his involvement at this point”

The officers were still quietly monitoring the locations as of Saturday morning, The Gazette was told. Christopher Emefiele did not comment on whether or not he had noticed the presence of state agents near his property. Mr Emefiele’s phones rang through on Saturday morning and his wife Margaret declined a request seeking comments.

The development comes as Mr Emefiele’s whereabouts became fuzzy after learning of an active threat to take him into custody by the SSS. The agency unsuccessfully sought a warrant from the Federal High Court earlier this month, with a federal judge ruling that sufficient probable cause was not established for the issuance of a warrant against a sitting governor of the nation’s banker and foremost regulator of the banking sector.

In the application ex-parte, an action filed to the exclusion of its defendant, the SSS asked the court to order Mr Emefiele’s arrest on account of terrorism financing and economic sabotage, among other nefarious acts.

But Justice John Tsoho said he didn’t see enough evidence in the SSS application and bemoaned the agency’s failure to take him into confidence.

“It therefore seems that the applicant intends to use the court as a cover for an irregular procedure, which is unacceptable,” the judge ruled on December 13.

Mr Tsoho, however, said the SSS could still take Mr Emefiele in as part of its mandate as a federal law enforcement outfit. The CBN governor does not enjoy constitutional immunity from arrest or prosecution while in office.

CBN officials said Mr Emefiele had not been seen at work since he joined other top Nigerian officials who accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to Washington D.C. for a string of political and business engagements in the United States capital between starting December 11. Mr Buhari returned to Abuja shortly before 5:00 a.m. on December 18, but Mr Emefiele has remained out of public view.

But officers suspected Mr Emefiele was not in Nigeria and might linger abroad to avoid being arrested. But for how long Mr Emefiele could remain in hiding or avoid stepping into Nigeria while running the central bank would ultimately rest with the president to decide.

Justice Tsoho said he weighed the economic ramifications before quashing the SSS’ request to arrest Mr Emefiele, but analysts said it was possible the allegations’ wide publicity could already take a negative toll on the economy — without necessarily saying how steep at this point.

A CBN spokesman declined comments about Mr Emefiele’s whereabouts. The presidency has not commented on the matter.

The CBN governor has seen support from civic groups, with many saying he has become the latest victim of power play ahead of general elections due February.

Mr Emefiele sought the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress during primary season earlier this year but later backed down after being told he must step down from office before engaging openly in partisan politics.

He also recently issued a controversial directive that limited withdrawals from bank accounts to N100,000 ($130) per week. W Economists slammed the policy as senseless and excessive, warning it would rapidly exacerbate harsh economic conditions across the country. But central bank officials said the move was to suffocate ongoing moves by politicians to warehouse cash that would be used to bribe voters at the ballot box.

Before then, the governor had announced a sudden redesign of naira notes, which would have rendered any previously stockpiled banknotes invalid for election use.

Supporters said the moves made Mr Emefiele a target of some corrupt politicians, with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party all but naming ruling APC’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu as the mastermind. The SSS has a history of being used to settle political scores, including the assassination of regime opponents.

The controversial policy was reversed earlier this week, but it was unclear whether or not Mr Emefiele took the measure to placate the SSS.

An SSS official said there are internal fears the agency was becoming too politicised to the point of distraction for career officers willing to focus only on their national security assignments.

“We are very concerned at this point,” the agent said. “We don’t know what Emefiele did, and no one is telling us what he did; we are only tasked with bringing him in for questioning.”

“That is too political for us, and I am not the only one here worried about this,” the officer added.

A spokesman for the SSS said he was not immediately available to discuss matters relating to Mr Emefiele.

You hit the nail well ...good stuff

semmyk:
Just like Bigtt76 indicated, it appears OP was not well articulated with the post.
What I gather though is that
- Husband got Student visa (former Tier 4)
- Family came to the UK
- Wife got sponsored work. Moved to skilled worker (former Tier 2)
- husby remained on student visa (for reasons best known to them)
- children successfully applied for dependent skilled worker visa
- Home 9ff8ce with their 'evasive' data science big data picked dual visa for parents (one skilled worker, the other student visa). Home office apply the rule. Children have dependent based on least visa stay
OP wants to know what's up and can gan!

I concur with Bigtt76.
What should happen. Family should have moved to skilled worker (husbot (as Ticha would say) and children become dependent). We've discussed on this thread switching student to skilled worker visa; the impact et al. See for instance (my previous attempt at part collation)

Inbtw, ILR starts to count for all.
Way forward:
Husband and children apply for dependent (skilled worker) visa.
PS: recently, last week I think, we discussed on this thread that a proper application will keep the current visa stay legal, until Home office reach a decision.
Advice herein are not binding advisory as contemplated in law
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 10:44pm On Dec 23, 2022
Not well articulated but what I gathered is that the man applied later instead of with the wife for tier 2 before the children.

Ideally the children's stay are determined by both parents and not one. Because they all got to the UK on a student visa with their mom and them being dependents on same visa, they needed their father to have been on the tier 2 before the children.

Try and reapply if possible

Pogracious:
Hi Ancestors , thanks for always answering my questions. This platform is a blessing.God bless all the contributors. Please am here today to get advise for a pal of mine who has this scenario
He came in on student visa with his wife and children.Along the line the wife got a sponsored job but because he still has more than six month on student visa, they decided children and wife move to tier2.tier2 approval according to him took months to arrive and as he was preparing to apply on the tier2 dependant they got a mail from home office that the children-dependant visa has been shortened to the parent with the shortest stay and a new brp issued to them.In a Cross road now what can he do even though he has the PSW option or can he reapply the tier 2 for all dependant again using the same cos the wife is presently on?

Please sirs and mas ,what can he do at this point?

Messi had more assist among the 2. Mbappe won the golden boot as highest goal scorer, Grizemann was next with 3 assists like Messi but did not score any goal unlike Messi who had 7 goals. If Grizemann had 4 assist or more he would have won it.

LesbianBoy:
First I want to say congratulations to Argentina but....

Why was Messi given the best player of the tournament instead of Mbappe? Even if it was given to Messi I think it should have been shared with Mbappe! That is 2 best players of the tournament!

Someone said because Messi won the world cup.

Let me remind you all that in 2014 Germany won the world cup yet Messi who didn't win the cup still was given best player of the tournament that year.

This is the reason many people still prefer CR7 because he is not pampered like this. And all his achievements were done with so much hate from even people around.

I suppose passport should be ready within a month. They should give an indication on confirmation slip when you go in for biometric? However, things at that high commission (indeed almost all other 9ja high commission globally) changes so often like Dublin or Cape Town weather.

Write to the school for advise on this.

Schoolhike:
Hello house, please I need advice about my expiring visa.

My wife had a resit and she just recently passed the module. But the issue is the school is yet to add the score to her transcript which could be used to apply for graduate visa stating that it is subject to the approval of the School Board Of Examiners and External Examiners which will comes up in January.

Our visa is expiring by jan 9 2023.

I got a job in a care home 3 months stating that they will sponsor me before the end of my visa but I was disappointed last week only to the told that the information from the headquarter that people will only be eligible for sponsorship after spending 6 months with the company.

Now we are in a tight situation whereby our visa is only 3 weeks left.

I need advice on what else I can do please.
