When talking to you, no form of anger or abusive words to be used and you won't use such on them.
Rule 2. Take care of every chores, if not you will be constantly reminded until such is done rule 3. Failure to adhere to the rules will result to unknown consequences. Make the consequences unknown, it will make them fear.

Same thing I was going to say. My boy did not talk at 3years, talkless of read or write anything. Sometimes (not always) this slow pace is common with first borns. Because at 2, my second born can read A-Z, 1-20, identify colours and shapes, sing rhymes and do 2-letter words.


Concerned dad, your worry is valid o. No parent wont be concerned. Here are some tips on what I did
(my boy was 3years and 9months after Nursery 1 but could only identify A-E, 1-8 or so. He could write only 1 and A, anything you ask him to spell na C-U-P, any colour you ask am na blue)

1. I changed his school, the previous school aided his laziness. If he doesnt feel like writing, he wont write (this may not apply to you and xhange of school now is expensive if you consider uniform etc). The teacher writes for him too, shuuu, I ran with my hand and leg o. I put him in a better school, but I DIDNOT repeat his class ie Nursery 1 again, because I believed he will catch up. In that class the kids could spell their names, do basic math + -, write, 1-100, Aa-Zz, copy from board. His dad say, this boy doesnt know 1-20, how do you expect him to cope, the kids in that school are too intelligent for him etc.

2. I reduced how I beat him drastically, because I dey flog faya oo , his dad will talk "wetin the small pikin know, when you dey flog am like this". I noticed I was not correcting anything, just killing the boy's spirit with each stroke. I go beat am so tey the whole book go soak with cry, because his inability to write and read (which was not his fault) annoyed me, I was an inch close to toxicidity. His crying, distorts his understanding

3. I employed home lesson teachers and I watched their methods. They (the first one was always full of excuses for missing the classes without calls or text sef, I pursue am. Im a mother on a mission, i no get time for "swegbe" levels) never flogged, they employed alot of motivation and sometimes scare (when he starts over familiarity)

4. I bought white board and marker, the teachers taught him with the board and when they werent around, he wrote on the board. The different colour of marker dey sweet am to use.

5. I greet the class teacher once a month with 500 recharge card, she con carry his matter for head. She taught him extra, was more attentive to him. Now, why am I saying this, if you meet his teacher after curfew to query her or ask questions that make her seem incompetent (even if she is), it may backfire. People respond better to encouragement, "Aunty XYZ, I know the calibre of teachers here oo (praise her small, mk all head swell). Please what is going on with my kid?, ehennn okay, what is your system of teaching?, is there a play-away method or any method used to help them remember?? Etc. The answers she gives, may be helpful to your wife in teaching him at home

6. I taught him any day his teachers didnt come like sunday, I used words like "You can do it...", when he does he go reply "I did it" , "Be focused, be bold and be confident in what you know (since he always ask me, mummy "is 2 like this, will D face this side, is this how to etc". I did assignment with him, I didnt leave home work for lesson teacher (teach your own)

7. I got loads of placards, A-Z, 1-100, 2-4 letter words. I played ABC song everyday. I gave him small cane, make he take dey teach him baby (I was surprised at how much he knows).

8. I visited the school atleast once in 2weeks to check their book, ask about their progress. My schedule is flexible, so I go in the morning, spend like 30mins. I once caught him unaware doing spiderman laro kutukutu (very early, dey dirty him clean uniform, he shock when he see my straight face , I nearly burst laugh


Every child is different, some learn early. Some will get to 4 -5 , 6 sef before them pick up. You just do your path, the day that boy picks he will be super smart because he don get small sense join.

Ps: He is 4years+ now, I spelt CIRCLE wrongly, baba come correct me oo. After 4 month of my "Operation you must pick up".
Now I buy him novels, he dey read to me.
I started with Queen Premier 1, 2. Then I got Peter and Jane series 1a, 1b. The school gave him 3 books from WAP series, then I bought 3 more from book shop. Baba dey read everything as at June/july this year.
He dey solve addition and subtraction unassisted, he doesnt always get the right answer but its always close.
He has started learning time and how to read "my book of bible stories".

The time line : September 2019- date, as at June/july, he had caught up (all that lock down period, I dey fire am back to back. He finish his text book, I bought the next class). When I got lesson teacher, I was a bit relieved too, stress of 2 kids ( I no maid) fit mk person taya, vex dey carry beat these kids.

Concerned Dad, with a little consistency all will be well. That you are worried means you are kuku on the right track. Hope these tips were helpful

The truth is, almost 60% of the southern youths are doing well for themselves financially without government aid and this has helped them to gain access to information that has better their lives( southerners dominate Nollywood, Nigeria music entertainment etc) these industry are making Nigeria popular/proud. Southern youths are getting liberated from poverty unlike their northern youth counterparts ( a large number of them are a product of almajiri)

Mind you this is a big threat to the government of Nigeria because southern youths are getting wiser and they demanding for a good governance/disintegration

Why would an individual be issued a receipt for arguably the most important acquisition in his life and yet he’s not presented with one of the most consequential documents in land ownership?

A lot of people make this mistake in their desperate bid to acquire land in the most populous black nation in the world. You may want to attribute this to ignorance or is it the excitement that envelopes them as the reality of owning land dawns on them? In their euphoria, they are fed with lies and placed under undue pressure by the omonile to part with their high-earned money. They buy a property without really buying it in the actual sense because the transaction had little or no form of legality when even the so called ‘omonile’ is not the actual owner.
A lot of Nigerians have fallen for this property scam in a country where affordable housing is not affordable. They cry blue murder when they had actually murdered their own happiness with their lopsided actions. Many of them are actually the architects of their own misfortune.

That brings us to this question; What is a deed of assignment?
A deed of assignment is any legal instrument in print which validates the agreement between the seller of a land or property and the buyer of that land or property. This legal evidence of property transaction that affirms or confirms the interest or right to own a landed property is signed, attested, delivered and in some jurisdiction sealed. The person or seller who transfers his rights or interests in that property is usually called the Assignor and the person who receives such right or interest from the seller is called the Assignee.
A Deed of Assignment therefore is an agreement where an assignor states his promise that from the date of the assignment or any date stipulated therein, the assignor assigns his ownership in that land to the assignee. The deed contains very pertinent information for a real estate transaction. For one, it spells out the date when the ownership of the property transfers from one owner to the other. The deed also gives a specific description of the property that is included in the transfer of ownership. Mostly, the banter between the buyer and the seller of the property in question in the form of the deed of assignment has to be recorded in the land registry to show legal proof and to bring to the notice of all and sundry that the property has exchanged hands.

The delicate nature of transactions that deals with landed properties especially that involving any omonile makes the issuance of receipt for such important transaction null and void, hence a deed of assignment remains a veritable tool in binding the owner to the property. This is to avoid the confusion, assumption and waging war that ensues after the property has been transferred to the new owner.

The deed of assignment which can come in the form of a governor’s consent or registered conveyance must or should include: the names of the people to the agreement, the origin and history of the land in relation to the transfer or ownership chain from the specified period it was obtained till the present day of sale. This document should also signify the addresses of both parties involved in the transaction and how such is binding to all concerned, which includes, successors, friends, colleagues and their representatives in any capacity. The readiness, willingness and approval of the seller to give away the land at the agreed cost should also be indicated.

Also, the description and size of the land to be transferred, the signature of the parties to the Assignment and Witnesses to the Transaction among other things should be noted. Finally the section for the Commissioner of Oaths or Governors Consent to sign and validate the agreement.
These are the important features of a Deed of Assignment and must be included in all Documents for it to be valid.

Therefore, beware of a fake omonile who would issue just a receipt for a property as important as land and worse still in the absence of other family members. Don’t be a victim of shoddy land deals where several people lay claim to a single landed property.

Land swindlers come up with several tricks to dupe unsuspecting sometimes suspecting victims. These tricks come in various human form; they could bring unidentified people to pose as family members, tell you their family members died in the biafran war of 1967 or that he was the only survivor of the Dana airline plane crash that killed all on board including his six siblings and parents.
So, make sure you do all your CSI investigations and ensure that all land baggage come out in the open before you commit yourself to any transaction involving landed properties

Bottom line, always consult a property lawyer before you buy a land to help prepare a deed of assignment. It will be your greatest mistake if you don’t have one.
Don’t throw your money into a land of ball and chain, take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.
