Davbams:Well said bro. David should keep his mouth well shut |
[quote author=ednut1 post=45478699]Nigeria is just doomed with such myopic mentality. who indigene epp merit abeg[/quoteCan you imagine this is happening in a University, a place where people should be studious and scholary in outlook and above primordial sentiments like tribalism. I've said it so many times in the past, until Nigerians change their ways and drop all this small minded thinking we will never ever move forward |
SamuelAnyawu:Iam with you 1000% brother. I am no supporter of PMB, but I will never ever support any useless western media attack on him. These people are only interested in their own agenda. I just wish many of PMB's supporters had given the same respect to GEJ, Instead they jumped up and down and jubilated whenever the western media attacked GEJ, not realizing that one of the main reasons for the attack, was the fact that he called their bluff and was happy to buy weapons from Russia. |
It is obvious that a lot has been done wrong in the past. Fashola has outlined a road map that if followed can at least start to give us some semblance of stability with regards to power. My only issue with all of this is that, after reading the speech, I was stuck by just how much needs to be done to even begin to get the situation improved. This is a job for a minister to be focused on 100%. It was a mistake for Buhari to bundle Power, Works and Housing together. Fashola should be allowed to focus all his time on power and let's have another capable minister handle works and housing. |
lwise:Its basic economics. When the costs of production go up, then the cost of the end products must also go up. Fuel costs of gone up, this means manufacture costs have also gone up, as they use fuel to power their generators. They have to add that extra cost onto their products. The costs for the traders have also gone up, because transport costs have gone up. This all feeds into the end cost of items in the market. As bad as things are now, if indeed news reports are correct and Buhari goes ahead and bans food importation, then Nigerians will experience hyperinflation, as we simply don't produce anything like near enough food locally. |
emmalezy:Nonsense write up. The Benin Oba is not chosen, the first son is automatically the next Oba. No if's no buts' Our culture is strong and firm. |
obailala:Based on the highlighted part of your statement above, would your agree that Mr President, by his refusal to devalue the Niara, does not understand basic economics? |
989900:Who are the bullets going to fly at? This is asymmetrical warfare, it can only be won by dialogue. Obasanjo threw everything he had at these guys and could not subdue them. It was Yar'dua and GEJ who eventually won them over via dialogue. Please understand these are not unarmed shia worshipers. Buhari will learn the hard way. |
Disease: Twisted mouth syndrome Symptoms: Rabid criticism of an administration that the patient previously supported. Causes: Usual caused by being let down by said administration either through lack of appointments or contracts. Celebrity patients: Oby Low Cut, Femi Falana |
This gentleman did his best for Nigeria. Please let us leave him alone now to enjoy his well deserved rest. As you can all see with the current administration, ruling a country like Nigeria is not easy. I wonder how many of you who attack GEJ, would be able to do better if you were in that office. Some people promised us an end to Boko Haram in 2 months and full power in under a year. How far for those promises? |
spiralwedge:When an Igbo man goes to another part of the country, does he just set up his store on another persons land without permission? I own a farm in Edo state, what right does a Fulani herdsman have to come and graze his cows on my farm without my permission? |
May the souls of Major Gideon Okar and all his comrades who died in the patriotic attempt to free us from Fulani domination, continue to rest in peace. One day their dream will be realized. |
To all those southerners who voted Buhari and said they only believe in 1 Nigeria and not tribe.... Can you please tell me why after almost 60 years of independence we still have something like Northern governors forum? |
SeverusSnape:We don't sell forms to bald headed idiots. |
fiizznation:Thanks for the insight, it's always useful to hear from 'The other side' as it where. It's the only way we can get better understanding and hopefully a solution to the problem. One thing that really bothers me, is the possibility for sabotage and manipulation in this. it would seem quite easy for people to be hired to attack and kill herdsmen, knowing full well that the herdsmen will retaliate. After they retaliate other communities will attack ANY Northerner in their midst and before you know it we've got full scale civil disorder on our hands. At a time when 'Corruption is fighting back' I think it's important for voices of reason and sanity on all sides to speak out loudly before we find ourselves engulfed in a ragging wild fire. |
Pavarottii:Your reply is almost as Operatic as many of the best from your namesake, well done!!!!! The way many Nigerians come and yarn on NL you would think BMB is the only senator the land. it is time for ALL OF US to put pressure on ALL the senators and Reps |
...and some idiots will come and spend their hard earned data allowance to be doing Wailler or Zombie, while both PDP and ACP dey chop from the same plate and nash the same babes!!! |
I don't support ACP and I certainly have no reason to come out to support the VP. However I must say I quite confused by the stand of some posters on this thread. They seem to be saying that because one is a pastor one should not be involved in any other activities. Was Martin Luther King JR not a pastor? Did that stop/hinder him from leading the civil rights movement? Desmond Tutu was a Bishop yet, took up a leadership role in the anti-apartheid struggle and helped to give that struggle a moral voice. It is my humble submission that there is nothing wrong at all with a pastor being in politics. To those who say how can he dine with Tinubu, Amechi , etc...and still be a pastor, I say to you, do you think all the pastors in ANY church are really holy and without sin? In that Reedemed Church there will be Pastors and church officials who are even worse that many politicians, yet you will not say the VP should leave the church because of that. In all works of life weather it be politics, church, business...etc you will find good and bad people, what matters at the end of the day is weather the VP uses what little power he has from his office to do good or not. So few good and decent people go into politics in Nigeria, let's not discourage the few that do |
We southerners need to learn to talk less and act more. This bill is moving through the legislative process and we are here writting big big oyibo. It's time to make it clear to our senators and Reps that if the bill is passed, they may as well stay in Abuja. Also I hope Yorubas and Igbos can start to work together for common SOUTHERN interests in the face of an extreme Fulani govt. We really can't afford to be divided in the South now |
Please my people dont' give yourselves high blood preasure over these politicians. Do you think Saraki or Tinubu care about us? let them fight it out and who ever plays 'The game of thrones' best will win. |
gidgiddy:Don't you know that all the Native Doctors in Edo pay tax? ![]() |
stzy:My brother, the democratic system we practice (The American system) was specifically designed to ensue the President is not all powerful. See how little Obama was able to do in 8 years due to obstruction from the Republicans in the House and Senate. It is a system that requires give and take. OBJ, Yardua(Of blessed Memory) and GEJ understood this. I know Buhari wants to do the right thing for the Nation, but he has to work within the confines of the system, and that means there has to be some 'give' to the National assembly. It's not nice, but that's the reality, there is no way the NASS will pass a budget that does not 'favor' them in some ways. My own personal opinion is that we are not yet ready for this type of democracy, we lack the patriotic maturity for it. Having lived through both Military and Civilian govt s, I am sorry but I'll take the Military any day of the week. |
PassingShot:People like you are truly beyond hope and help. The fuel situation in the country has NEVER been this bad, not even during the civil war and yet people like you see nothing wrong in PMB's administration, do remember the President is also the oil minister. Keep having faith you hear, no wahala, other Nigerians have seen the light and are preparing accordingly for 2019. |
Fullamafia:I really don't understand why you say I am advocating SE representation, when I have ever done that? The simple fact is I have always advocated MERIT above all else. I am not even from the SE If you are happy with a nation being run by less competent people, simply to satisfy base ethnic demands be my guest, just don't expect anything to change in Nigeria if we don't change how we do things. I leave you with a quote attributed to Einstein 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting different results' |
Fullamafia:While he uses the Unity Schools as an example, the fact remains that the preference of Quota system/Federal Character over merit in All and any aspect of public life, be it Unity School admission or Federal civil service recruitment is just plain wrong. I can understand and accept that at independence something needed to be done, because the North was quite behind the south in terms of Western Education, but now after 56 years, its time to stop it. All public sector recruitment and Educational admissions should be by Merit only. Any country that does not use it's best people can never progress. |
A very clear outline of the Fiscal policy direction of the FG. My only fear is weather despite the good intentions, this extra borrowing will not simply end up increasing the Nations debt burden, without yielding the desired long term results. We have built infrastructure in the past(Refineries, Power Stations, Dams...etc) that were not maintained and consequently decayed with time. I only hope that this time all such infrastructure projects are done on a Private-Public financing type arrangement. We need to merge the discipline and efficiency of the private sector, with the funds of the pubic sector. Overall with the right safeguards, it's a policy direction, I completely support, and one that if implemented right, can bring real benefits to Nigerians. |
tuale4u:Are you dumb, ignorant or both? The reason PMB meet less funds , was because over $10 Billion dollars in the excess crude fund was shared between the governors. Who pressed for it to be shared? Rotimi Amechi, the man who would later become Director of Buhari's campaign. GEJ did not want the money shared out, Amechi and other governors even went to court to force the FG to share out the funds.Despite all this ignorant people like you still keep running your mouths blaming GEJ and Ngozi for everything. |
How can anybody read this and still believe that the current 'Democratic' system we are practicing can lead Nigeria to glory and greatness. I think it's time for some honest soul searching. |
Why does he always talk of the last 16 years. What of all the years of Army govt including the Abacha govt of which he was a part? The way the man talks you would think Nigeria got independence on 1999. ![]() |
Quakertellicus1:I never said there were NO Fuel shortages or power outages during the PDP's tenure, that would be illogical as there have been these issues in EVERY govt's tenure. The simple fact is that it as NEVER been this bad. I've got friends who have been in business for years, different business in different sectors from hotels, to events planning, to food processing, and they are all saying the same thing that IT'S NEVER BEEN THIS BAD. These are real business, real employers of labor and they are having to let staff go, something they never had to do in the past. Please get your head out of the sand and take a look at what is REALLY happening in the country. |
President Buhari Welcome on your visit to Nigeria. While you are here can I suggest some interesting places for your to visit. Sambisa Forest Agatu Please be advised to avoid any of these locations during your visit. Any Fuel station with a long queue Any Shia Mosque. I wish you an enjoyable visit during you stay in Nigeria! |
This is quite shameful from Tinubu. Nigeria never had it so bad with fuel and power under PDP and that's a FACT. Even during the global financial crises of 2008-2009 things were not this bad. APC need to buckle up and stop the blame game or prepare to go back to opposition come 2019. |
