For all clapping for this government for this breach of our laws and abuse of state powers, dont worry, it will soon get to you or somebody you know. Every accused is presumed innocent until a competent court pronounced him guilty. Notwithstanding all the allegations, you will understand legal processes when Dasuki opens his defence in court and the government knows this, that is the reason they were using state power to keep him in detention.

Dont be surprised if another allegation surfaced again tomorrow. It started with Treason for having in his possession unlicensed, firearms later to Dasukigate etc The precedent now is, once you are arrested by police for whatever reason, even if the court grants you bail, police can rearrest you again. Then you will scream human right, then I will remind you of the dangerous precedent we all celebrated.
If Nigeria must develop, we must respect rule of laws.
This government is demodictatorship. It will soon get to you.
Thanks for your very wise words.

I really can't understand what type of people Nigerians are. Maybe they deserve all the suffering that's been heaped upon them. How can people be rejoicing at what is happenng to Dasuki? Are we no longer a nation of laws?

The man has been accused of crimes, he's been granted bail and has met the bail conditions, yet he's been re-arrested again on what grounds? Today it is Dasuki tomorrow it could be your friend, brother, wife, Father.

I hold no brief for Dasuki, if he's found guilty of the crimes he's been accused of, then he deserves the most harsh penalty possible, but please people, the rule of law is the fundamental building block of democracy. If it's removed we may as well be in a dictatorship. Those doing the arresting and jailing today, might themselves be the ones looking for the protection of the law tomorrow.

Gumi, please shut your dirty mouth. The only Muslims who have set up an alternative govt in Nigeria are the SUNNI Boko Haram. The same SUNNI Boko Haram have killed multiple Christians and Muslims. How many churches have the Shia every destroyed? The simple truth is that the majority Sunni in Nigeria are taken their orders from their masters in Saudi Arabia to wipe out the Shia, but make no mistake Iran will not take this lying down. The North is about to become the next battleground in the centuries old Shia V Sunni war. We in the South will be watching in 3D!

This fall in commodity prices will lead to economic and social disorder in countries such as Nigeria that are solely dependant on oil.
You will see lots of strike action by labour, trade unions, students etc.
We might be experiencing a hyper inflation. This is made worse by our inability to refine our petroleum products leading to depletions of the already scare forex.
Agric which every one is clamoring for is not that easy because it is capital intensive, time bound and dependant on biological factors and finally market at a time commodity prices are low.
Nigeria may have to consider the north Korea option to survive or the Iranian model of survival under sanctions.
I must add that this is a self inflicted sanction on Nigerians by the ruling class over the decades.
We have seen two oil booms in our history and on both occasions we wasted the proceeds. There will not be a third oil boom. The world is awash with oil, China and Europe are moving away from fosil fuels. The electric car is no a reality and cheer models will come out in the future. Nigeria is in BIG trouble. Our leaders are not showing any sense of urgency to our situation. I wonder if even understand how bad things are?

3 Months from the damage for the Minster of works to visit the site.

6 Months after that and after much pressure in the media and a quite a few deaths from Road Accidents the contract is awarded.

3 Months after that the Caterpillars and tippers arrive the site, a few trips of Sand are deposited.

1 Month later the contractor stops work, calming they've not been paid their 'mobilization' fee.

3 Months later after more pressure from the public/Media, the Govt spokesman claims the contractors have been paid all monies owed and work will resume 'once the rains have finished'

1 week later the Contractor denies they've received any payment.

2 Months later (after more deaths) The House of reps send a delegation to inspect the road, the delegation report back that a full probe of the Federal ministry of works is required.

12 months later after a 'Full probe' it is discovered that the contract to repair the road was grossly overvalued and many senior govt officials received illegal kickbacks. Depending on which side of the political divide those senior govt officials now sit, some are arrested by EFCC while others are left alone(All animals are equal but some are more equal than others)

A full 2.5 years later the road is still not repaired, a new ministers promises to 'Accelerate work on the road' and people keep dying in road accidents. cool

Yes, I agree that there are the other cases in court involving transfers from last year. All said, my main point was that CBN officials are not likely to be found culpable for any offence in this matter as they were doing their jobs as bankers to the ONSA and the other government agencies. It is the agencies and their officials along with their cronies who betrayed the responsibility we reposed in them to oversee our commonwealth.[/quotes]

No oh! The Dasuki saga mostly covered January to June 2015. In any event, what the CBN has said is that they released the monies in line with their regular mandate as a banker to the government. In that case, the CBN, either under Sanusi or Emefiele, are not culpable in the diversion of funds under Dasuki.
Sorry but you are wrong with regards to the dates of the Dasuki saga. See below from the charge sheet(You can see it on Saharareporters)

“That you, Col. Muhammed Sambo Dasuki( rtd.), whilst being the National Security Adviser and Shuaibu Salisu, whilst being the Director of Finance and Administration in the office of the National Security Adviser, between 14th April, 2014 and 7th May, 2015 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court, entrusted with dominion over certain properties to wit: an aggregate sum of N3, 350, 000,000 (Three Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) being part of the funds in the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), committed criminal breach of trust in respect of the said properties when you transferred same to the account of Dalhatu Investment Limited with United Bank for Africa Plc, purporting same to be payment for the supply of security equipment and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 315 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 532, Vol.4, LFN 2004.”
Another count reads: ‘‘That you, Dalhatu Investment Limited, Sagir Attahiru and Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, between 14th April, 2014 and 7th May, 2015 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly received stolen property, to wit: an aggregate sum of N3, 350,000.00( Three Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) into your account with United Bank For Africa Plc., from the account of the National Security Adviser with the Central Bank of Nigeria, which belonged to the Federal Government of Nigeria and knowing the said sum to be stolen property but purporting same to be payment for the supply of security equipment and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 317 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 532, Vol. 4, LFN 2004.’’

LadyExcellency:
The hunger go wire the wailers and psycophants alike.

Below is what Buhari tasked you to do, Madam Minister

We Will Be Judged By The Number Of People We Lifted From Poverty - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday instructed his new ministers to ensure they run a lean government at all levels, to avoid wastage of public funds.

The president charged them to key into the change agenda of government, as they are the vehicle that will administer the change to Nigerians.

He gave the charge when he opened a two-day retreat for the 36 ministers who are yet to be sworn into office yet.

The event held at the old banquet hall of the presidential villa in Abuja.
Mr. Buhari said the administration would be assessed based on the number of Nigerians it is able to lift out of poverty.

The retreat, themed, “Delivering change from precepts to practice”, was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, all ministers-designate and other presidential aides.

Speaking at the opening ceremony before the retreat went into closed session, President Buhari said the ministers must be the drivers of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC’s change mantra.

“You are coming on board the ship of governance at an interesting time. So much has been said about the state of our economy. It is expected that we make the running of Government at all levels as lean as possible, avoid waste and conserve resources. As ministers, you must be the vehicle that will administer the change,” he said.

“Our main task is to turn our manifesto promises to practice and results. Over the next two days I expect you to have a better understanding of the context in which we have taken the challenge of serving our country, as well as the strategies we have adopted to tackle them. I would also expect you to be even more determined to work as a team, and to live up to the high standards of probity and integrity which Nigerians expect of us.”

Mr. Buhari said the major focus of his administration would be diversification from oil.

“We will intervene in mining and agriculture and upgrade the country’s physical and social infrastructure, which will broaden our revenue base and significantly improve the level of employment, especially among the youth. Our economic focus will be policies that will ensure inclusive growth and we will count our achievements based on the number of Nigerians we move out of poverty,” he said.

He reminded the ministers to establish effective communication with their colleagues, and to rout all communication and appointments to the presidency through the Office of the Chief of Staff “as is normal in this Presidential System”.

Johnnyessence:
(CNS News) – In reaction to the radical Islamic terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Calif., involving one jihadist who entered the U.S.A. on a fiancé visa, evangelical preacher Franklin Graham said “border control,” not more gun control, is part of the answer, and added that “no Muslims” should enter America until a safe vetting process is in place.

“It’s confirmed—San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook was a devout Muslim,” wrote Rev. Graham on Facebook on Dec. 4. “Friends say he had memorized the Koran. The headlines say Farook and his wife were a couple ‘bent on jihad.’”

“President Obama and his administration are trying to blame this incident on gun control when it was caused by hate-filled hearts intent on killing infidels in the name of Islam,” said the reverend. “Take away the guns and this couple would’ve still slaughtered innocent civilians. Their apartment was a bomb-making factory!”

FAX BLAST CONGRESS: STOP SHARIA LAW FROM TAKING OVER AMERICA!

Rev. Graham continued, “It’s happened in France and it’s happening here. ISIS has warned us that more attacks like this are going to follow. Next time it could be a mall or a school, but until our politicians understand and admit the threat of radical Islam we’re going to have more of these horrible acts of violence.”

As for border control and screening of people seeking to enter the United States, Rev. Graham said, “Farook’s wife, Tafsheen Malik, was allowed into America on a ‘K-1’ Fiance visa and reports now confirm she had pledged allegiance to ISIS before the massacre.”

“Mr. President, we don’t need more gun control—we need border patrol,” said Graham.

“No Muslims should be allowed into this country until there’s a process in place to fully vet them,” he said. “We’ve got to turn away those who could potentially pose a threat until this war with radical Islam is over.”

In conclusion, Rev. Graham wrote, “Please join me in continuing to pray for the family members of the victims in this tragic shooting as the funerals and memorials services will begin to take place.”

Franklin Graham, 63, is the son of world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham. The younger Graham is the CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and he also runs the international Christian relief group Samaritan’s Purse. Franklin Graham is married, has five children, and regularly preaches in the United States and overseas.

I don't understand why people have a problem with Trump and this Rev. They are simply stating common sense. Here in Europe many major cities have parts that have become no go areas for Non-Muslims. Even in liberal London, there was a case recently of young muslim man attacking people with alcohol and saying alcohol was not allowed in 'their area'. The world needs to wake up!!! There are large numbers of people across the Muslim world who are sympathetic to the Jihadi ideology. That's just a fact. Western countries need to have enhanced screening for migrants from all Muslim countries to ensure they are not a threat. That is not being racist or bigoted, it's just common sense!

enigma2007:
I do not have an issue with regionalism because if you study the history of Nigeria well, notable progress and growth were achieved during that era despite the fact that oil (i assume that oil was the point of contention between the people that want resource control or what not) was already discovered in 1956 at Oloibiri. So, oil was available back then but each region was developing its own resources or means of making their economic more viable thereby contributing to the overall growth of the country. Fast-forward some years, the country is so heavily dependent on Oil and that is not the way forward in this current economic climate.

On the secession bit, would there be a peaceful secession? It didn't work in the past and it sets the entity called Nigeria back and personally i belong to that "generation that believes things should be repaired when broken rather than throwing it away" - My humble opinion.
Good points.

I honestly believe that if we are able to go back to a functional regional model, with more power in the regions, that will blunt all secessionist talk to a very large degree. However if we keep this present system, then I can only see the agitation growing over time, as new generations will simply not accept to continue living in a country where nothing seems to work.

As I tried to warn many of them during the election, most of the young ones have only ever known Southern presidents so they've become too comfortable. Those of us who were around in the 80's know just how incompetent and unimpressive Northern leadership can be. Politics › Re: Ben Murray-Bruce: Nigeria Should Share Work Money Not Oil Money by bjdon: 12:06pm On Dec 01, 2015
This is just basic common sense. Any right thinking person can see that this country is not working. The states are not functional at all, not to talk of the local govts. Those of us of a certain age can recall the regions or at least what our parents told us about life in the regions. The Northern region was rich with the groundnut pyramids among other crops, the west hamd cocoa and its that from that revenue that Awo was able to afford Free Education. The east had coal. If we go back to a regional model it will force each region to look inwards and that is when you'll see areas like Agric, IT and manufacturing really take off. With the current system the governors are just like big kids getting money every month from 'Daddy FG' and they spend it how they like. Ben Bruce should be commended for raising this issue. The youth need to understand that REAL CHANGE will never come to this country (and by extension their lives) until this structure of the country is changed

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the most dangerous people for PMB right now, are his blind , fanatical supporters who can't see anything wrong in what he's doing. You can't expect the FG to match the pay and conditions of the private sector. If people know they can't make the sacrifice in terms of reduced pay to be a minister they should please step down.
