I can't imagine how the power brokers in the North would support Buhari. The man is very inflexible and not likely to support their interests, also his age is a big risk for them. I would think they would rather make a deal with GEJ let him do his 4 more years then they have a clear path for 8 years in 2019. Due to Buhari's popularity with masses I don't expect them to support GEJ publicly and they may even make supportive sounds to Buhari as the ACF and others have done, but behind the scenes expect them to 'turn the other eye' while GEJ gets just enough votes in the North to add to what he'll get in the south to win the election |
This is a very critical time for Buhari. Many young Nigerians are supporting him because they think he's going to be a new broom who will sweep Nigeria clean. However the REAL owners of this country, the members of the ruling Oligarchy(and BTW in this group they are North and south Muslim/Non_Muslim they are all share one thing, enormous wealth made from YOUR resources) this group will never be comfortable with a Buhari leadership. IBB is one of the Dons of this group. Goodluck's recent visit to IBB has rattled APC. They know they can not win the presidency without the support of the Oligarchy, that is just the plain truth. The Nigeria of 2014/15 is a very different animal from the Nigeria of 1984. The combined wealth of the oligarchs runs into the 10's of BILLIONS of Dollars. Do you really think these people are just going to sit down and watch Buhari swing into town and come and seize their wealth? Of course not, hence Oyegun trying to placate them with reassurances that there will be no probes. Now the question is this, if a Buhari leadership is not going to probe all these past thieves, than what exactly is the point of it? |
Until Nigerians wake up, shine their eyes, and stop allowing these ethnic champions to continue to divide us for their own ends, noting in this country will ever change. Very simple question. Why should it matter where the president is from? Do we not just want a President that will perform and lead the nation in the right direction? People only clamor for the President to come from a particular part of the country because they feel that's the only way they'll get access to the federal coffers. This is a very sick country indeed. |
SirShymex:You do know that Russia is actually a 'dying' country. It's population is contracting due to low birth rates and drug/alcohol abuse. Putin had a chance over the last decade to create a diversified economic super power but he blew it. It's back to bread queues for the Russians. As for Obama much as I like the guy, sometimes he makes Goodluck seem clever. The guy really needs to talk less. |
I am sorry but your question betrays the ignorance so many Nigerians suffer from. Please I do not mean to be rude to you at all, you have asked a simple question but the point is, the question is ignorant. It is ignorant because it assumes that any 1 president out of GMB OR GEJ can take Nigeria to the promise land, I am sorry to tell you but niether of them can. Nigeria today is a country in the iron clad of Oligarchic corruption. A few members of the ruling class own and control everything. GEJ is fully in tune with them and so nothing will change if he is re-elected. So many Nigerian yearning for change are putting their faith in GMB because he is 'incorruptible'. It may indeed be true that the General himself is not corrupt and is a patriotic upstanding Nigerian, however of what use are those qualities if you surround yourself with thieves and looters. Are we really saying that all the money Amechi spent for Buhari at the convention was not looted? Tomorrow if Amechi is a minister how can Buhari probe him? I am sorry but the ONLY hope for Nigeria is a true grass rots uprising. By all means vote in Buhari in 2015, just don't be angry when by 2019 you don't see the change you want. |
Jakande had a plan for mono rail in Lagos which would have greatly reduced traffic congestion, the coup plotter Buhari came in and cancelled it. I am sure if he's elected in 2015 he'll do the same as the man only cares about his aboki brothers. GEJ till 2019!! |
tochukwuifeduba:But there's no problem giving an oil well to a mass murderer like Danjuma? Or giving an oil well to a woman who just happened to be a dress maker to Maryam Babangida and said woman is now the richest black woman on earth. As usual you people only see 'crime' when its a south-south person involved, despite the fact that the oil from our land has kept this nation on it's fee for over 50 years. How many South-South people have been allocated oil wells? The Niger delta militants may not be saints but they have had to fight for their place on the table, a table that till now has had people from every other part of the country feeding fat on. |
While this would be a very good development, I can't see it happening. Osho is very strong minded, as can be seen by the way he stood up to the Edo state god fathers like Annenih and Igbenadion. I can't see Tinubu being ok having 2 strong willed people as President and Vice President. |
Nonybb:My brother if any Yoruba coward or Hausa-Fulani Jihadi thinks they are going to feed fat on OUR oil every again they have another thing coming. Bring it on in 2015. The stupid Yorubas and idiotic Malams aint seen nothing yet |
Such ignorant people Nigerians are!! You call Buhari a 'Progressive'. The same Buhari who jailed progressives like Jakande, Onabanjo and Ambrose Ali. I suggest you read a little bit of history before writing crap online! |
barcanista:For the record General Buhari will not be on the ballot in 2015. Atiku wins today, GEJ wins in 2015. Nigerians loose as always |
Johnnyessence:Na lie, Atiku has this one in the bag. |
joeace2020:This is how we do it in France ![]() |
..and yet you Mr Buhari and you comrade Tinubu went round the country begging PDP governors and legislators to join ACP. if PDP is so bad how come almost half the current ACP governors are ex PDP? |
It should not matter weather you a Christian, Muslim, free thinker, traditionalist, any right thinking person would condem the Kano Mosque attack. it is inhumane and wicked. To kill innocent people who simply went to worship their God. What kind of people are we becoming when this can even be a subject of debate? it is wanton barbaric murder, as a Roman Catholic I align myself completely with the words of Pope Francis when he condemned the attack. Please Nigerians let's start to work together and think of ourselves as brothers and sisters not Igbos and Yourubas, Hausa and Ijaw. Our rulers simply use these divisions to continue to divide us, so they can milk our resources for themselves. If we don't rise above this and start to think and act as one people we will forever remain doomed. |
I have been wondering recently if Bola Tinubu is setting up General Buhari in the ACP presidential primaries. Bear with me as I lay out the cause of my suspicion. Right form the start of the moves to from the alliance between the opposition parties, it was always the open secret that the plan was to field General Buhari as the presidential candidate and Bola Tinubu would either be the vice presidential candidate or he would nominate the candidate. With that being the case I’ve been asking myself this question. ‘If Tinubu really wants Buhari as the presidential candidate, why would he allow a formidable candidate like Atiku to join the ACP?’ Tinubu must have known that Atiku was joining the ACP with the sole aim of contesting for the Presidency, so why allow him a free hand. Tinubu could easily have pushed for a rules that would have prevented Atiku going for the presidential ticket. For example they could have implemented a rule that no ACP presidential candidate should have been a previous PDP presidential candidate or any presidential candidate must have been with the ACP for the start. The main point I am making here is that if Tinubu REALLY wanted to prevent Atiku from going for the Presidential ticket he could have done it. So the question is why did’nt he? Could Tinbu and Atiku be playing a complex game with Buhari? In this game Tinubu ‘supports’ Buhari in the primaries, knowing deep down that Atiku, will actually win the primaries with his deep pockets and experience of the kind of ‘back room deals’ needed to win a primary. Once Atiku wins, him and Tinubu then go to Buhari and say ‘Ah General it was a fair contest but now Atiku is the candidate we need you to support him and ask your supporters to vote him.’ Tinubu knows that Buhari brings 12 Million votes to the table, could it be that he wants those votes, but does not want the General? Time will tell. |
Clone2020:This generation have had it good. How many can remember that in 1999 oil was $11 a barrell. During my youth in the 80's early 90's oil only went above $30 once, that was during the first gulf war. It is a massive shame that all the mega money earned from high oil price in the last decade has not been used to really develop the nations infrastructure. If by now we had constant power supply, high speed rail lines and modern high bandwidth communications across the land, the price of oil would be incidental, as an industrial revolution would have already taken off. Such a shame. |
When Turai and her cabal secretly flew a brain dead Yar'dua back to Nigeria and tried to run a puppet govt, Goodluck stood firm and refused to budge. That tool REAL courage considering the chief of army staff and brigade of guards commanders were all Northerners loyal to Turai. Goodluck will always have my admiration for that. |
CityNG:Absolute nonsense. Even as a young kid growing up in Nigeria we used to play 'Police and theif' my area and some of us had toy plastic 'Lux pistols'. Are you saying it would have been ok to shoot us down. Please I can accept that the Ferguson case may not be as clear as some feel, but to say it's ok to shoot a 12 year old kid for playing around with a TOY, well, that just makes me feel you've been watching way tooo much Fox news |
Turaki Atiku will sweep the floor with all of them. He's by the far the 'big dog' in the pack. Buahri has never gone through this type of primary process before, where as The Turaki is well schooled in the dark arts of backroom deals. |
cupidhero:Indeed. The sad thing is these criminals are weak jokers. If people knew just how weak they are they would have been eliminated long ago. They are fat, immoral drunkards who have gorged themselves stupid on the nations wealth. Just taking a few of them out in a very public way would cause the rest of them to scamper. They have no liver, their strength comes from our weakness. |
And tomorrow somebody will come to NL and try and defend Nigeria in comparison to other countries. This nation is SICK!!! Totally and completely SICK!!. How can senators be earning such massive amounts of money in the midst of extreme poverty? This is why I tell people that 2015 is IRRELEVANT. It does not matter if Buhari is elected president. The rot is deep. Only a complete change to system will surface. We need to reset and start again. This rotten system can't be modified. |
Please tax the following also All Owembe parties were money is sprayed. 20% of the pot should be taxed. All Church offerings, tithes , first fruits, and such. 30% tax An incrementally rising property tax 10% on a second house, 20 % on a third house....etc. BTW madam minister what of all the oil being stolen in the Niger delta, should your clueless govt not focus on controlling that as it's a major revenue loss for the govt? |
I think this is a very timely discussion. Atiku is a formidable political fighter with deep pockets and connections with the Northern political and business class. While the indications are that the SW delegates will go for Buhari due to Tinubu's influence there's no such certainty on how the rest of the APC delegates will vote. I have to wonder why Tinubu even allowed Atiku to join ACP. Could it be that secretly he wants him to win?? |
dotman2460:O boy you no try at all. I was reading this in work and laughed so hard all the Oyibo started looking at me like I don craze!! |
There is nothing wrong with marriage, it's actually a great institution. The real problem is, and I know I am going to get totally canned for this, being married to one woman for your whole life. This was never supposed to be the way of things. Every single ancient culture was polygamous, even in the old testament kings of Israel were polygamous. Yet Europeans in their so called wisdom woke up one day and decided to force monogamy on everyone, when it clearly goes against the most basic nature of man. Just look at all the 'Men of the cloth' who still have affairs. Man is a POLYGAMOUS creation, with intense urges to reproduce. it's what he was created for, that's why he's always looking at young fertile woman and wants to have sex with them. It's simply his DNA kicking in. Properly managed polygamy can be a wonderful thing, there are even reality TV programes in the US that feature happy polygamous families. This was our tradition in Africa, but as usual we must listen to the white man, throw away everything that was ours, and now what do have? Loads of Nigerians divorced before their 40's. Fair polygamy is the way forward. #OneManManyWives |
Confidence is very important but how do you get the confidence. Firstly you don't over think/worry. It's JUST an interview, the world will not end if you don't get the job, so go there with the attitude of I'll do my best and if it does not work so be it. As others have said the people interviewing you are human beings who also went through the interview stage at some point, you may even be more intelligent then them, so have NO fear, believe in yourself, draw strength from all you've been through, the exams you've passed etc. When you are in the interview always maintain eye contact with the people interviewing you, make sure your answers are to the point. In summary prepare, believe in yourself and have faith and you'll be fine |
Why not after all Gusau has been such a success as Defense minister abi? BH have been roundly defeated and don't control a single inch of Nigerian land abi? I must say though as a student of Nigerian political history this story may indeed be true. Gusau is a member of the Northern power block, It was his sacking by Buhari that was one of the main triggers of IBB's coup. Now I do wonder is this power block really comfortable with the notion of a Buhari presidency? They have QUITE a lot to loose should the people's general prevail and decide to confront them, so maybe they've decided it's best to pitch their tent with Mr shoeless clueless. As the story is from Shara it must be taking with a pinch of salt but I would not rule it out completely. |
