It is quite good to hear this news regarding improved power stability across the land. The enemies of progress in the North should sheath their swords and join in the quest for national progress. Nigeria is moving forward with or without them. If GEJ can pull off and sustain stable power generation, the come 2015 he dose not even have to campaign too much, for this time there will really be 'NO VACANCY IN ASO ROCK' not as a result of rigging, but as a result of excellent performance. |
Even if the merger works, AC-CPC will fail in the Presedential election if anyone other than Fashola is presented as the Presidential candidate. I think Fashola will be able to win votes in the SE/SS added to the SW and NW that should secure victory. If either Tinubu or Osama bin Buhari is the candidate, then GEJ is secured a second term. El Rufai is a joke who would not even win his state, and the less said about the loud mouth pastor the better. Another point to consider is even if the ACN-CPC merger dose produce the president, will they produce a majority, let alone 2/3rds in the NASS? If they are unable to do that then we could have a situation where nothing much changes as the President would be forced to compromise with the PDP controlled NASS. |
As some other posters have noted, it really depends on your skills, the country your in, and your legal status. Highly skilled, legal Nigerian's in the US and EU are mainly doing quite well. Let's try and avoid the 'Nigeria is better-Away is better' argument. Both places offer different things to different people, let's try and use meida like this as a source of good usefull information for those in Nigeira who want to come abroad and for those abroad thinking of going back home. if we are all well informed, it'll help avoid making mistakes and eventually people will settle in the place that best suits their talents and chracter. Peace to one and all |
Why is he commenting on the Niger Delta? It's one thing to comment on GEJ but to extend his rantings to the Geo-political situation in Nigeria seems strange. He's saying the Niger Delta should not control their resources, yet he says Awolowo and co did exactly that in the first republic. Also it's quite strange he has nothing to say about the almost weekly killing of christians in the North. Or silly me, of course he has nothing to say when it's his boss Osama bin Buhari is responsable for the Boko Haram menance. |
Blessing had a bad start but at least she made it up. At least she'll be in the Final!!! |
very poor start just from Gloria in the 100m Semi cost her. |
I disagree. He whole-heartedly chose to run for Nigeria. Thats enough. He obviously lacks adequate technical input from the coaches. If he gets a world class coach, he can be the best within 4 years. He's amongst the youngest in the field also. If Nigeria had supported him more, maybe he wont be dropping out like that.
You have a point brohter. We are quick to attack our people when they don't do well, but forgt they train with inadequte facilities. I guess the emotion of the moment got the better of me. I hope the young man learns from this and comes back stronger in 4 years time |
Morton was an absolute disgrace! Such poor technique it's unreal. |
This is a good move, it'll bring the cause of ethnic nationalities back to forefront. The Ogoni people have conducted themselves for almost 2 decades with honor, always kicking against violence, even when it was carried out against them. I wish them luck and goodwill in their efforts and hope it will act as a wake up call to other groups to start to organize themselves so we can finally reconstruct this contraption called Nigeria, and hopefully leave something better for our children |
kettykin: I like your reasoning sir, about again you have to understand the Body language of the international Committee of Nations will the worldpowers of USA, Britain, China , Russsia support a military take over, Also an igbo man is currently the Chief of Army staff COAS , will he allow his Man GEJ to be uprooted , will the military authority also support the top most soldier COAS an igbo to take over.I am with you, indeed I think any kind of coup will be a total disaster for the nation. However as I stated in my post, I can't help but feel, that these 2 old rogues are preparing the ground for a coup. You raise some very good points in terms of the international community, but do remember these guys are very connected with the Western powers. if they portray such a move as 'Essential to prevent the nation collapsing and also to prevent AQ from getting a firm strong hold in the North' then you may see the west actually give some kind of grudging acceptance. I do hope this is not the case and I am wrong. The last thing Nigeria needs now is any kind of coup |
This is a very codded message. If you read between the lines, this so called 'Joint statement' is nothing more, nothing less than the Green light to the Kahki boys to make their move. When the move is made the announcement will touch on the themes raised in this statement. 'National unity under threat' blah blah. Inserting Dasuki into NSA role. I don't see GEJ's administration lasting much longer. |
Mr Bean was classic and a very bold move. All in all the Ceremony was ok, but I fear a lot of people around the world won't get many of the refrences whcih were they UK-Centric(NHS for example) The lighting of the flame was also very nice and kept to them of the games. Muhammad Ali is too old and frail and should be left alone now. His Presence worked in Atlanata but here it seem almost wicked. |
They are worried because they can't control Social media. They can't bribe all of us not be critical of them, as they've done with most of the mainstream media. David Mark and other so called leaders should foucs on good govt and then they won't be 'insulted' so oftern. Until that time, I shall use my right to free speech to call him a retarded, foolish slowpoke |
obxddon: I keep begging people on here not to smoke before they post anything.....Wet weed is bad for your brain..Very well said brother. I wish more Nigerians could take this approach. |
Please do not give GEJ ANY CREDIT for this election. All the soliders were deployed to aid the PDP rigging. They hopped to scare away voters and then peform their usual mago-mago. But the good people of Edo state were up the task. Let other states take heed, the PDP CAN BE DEFEATED. Mobilize from the grass roots and protect your vote on election day. Roll on 2015!! |
SeyDem: Sure, you can make it in Nigeria. You've got to keep your wits with you, though. You didn't save £10,000 in the UK by being stupid. I came back just under 3 years ago after 19 years in Europe. I live in Abuja because it has a good road network through which I can move about. If you are business minded supply of water, bricks, recharge cards etc. will keep you afloat until you get what you really need to improve your life. There's no magic formula but to dip your feet in first.Wish you the very best. The above is very good advice. Iam in the same boat planning my relocation over the next 18 months and Abuja is going to be my location of choice. Coming from the West after a long time, you'll find Abuja an easy town to integrate into. By Nigerian standards things 'work' here. You can look to get into any kind of supply business here as the previous poster has indicated. |
As a Bini Man I am indeed very proud of My Oba and support his move 100%. Many of you commenting here are not from Edo state and you don't understand the dynamics there. The PDP totally destroyed the state for 10 years. The capital Benin City actually regressed to almost rural status. In the last 4 years Oshimhole has totally reformed the state capital and his showing great strides in the development of the state as a whole. What do you expect the Oba to do? To stay quiet and play neutral? Why should he? He is looking out for his people's welfare. Maybe if more Traditional rulers took similar stands maybe the country would be a better place overall. |
He is a stupid, corrupt, retard who is leading the nation to a complete breakdown |
May the souls of all who died today rest in peace. Let us try and honour their memory,by not lacing our statements with hate and incitment. That dose not honour their memory. However we must not shy away from facing up to the truth, that our country is failing and failing fast. This insecurity will so consume us all unless firm and urgent steps are taken soon. This is the time for all Men and Women of goodwill to rise up and insist that our poor excuse of a govt finally steps up to it's responsibilities or makes way for others who can. |
The kind of returns you are looking for are quite high indeed. As others have advised you, please moderate your expectations or you'll end up loosing a lot. I don't think there is any 'Normal' business that can yield you that return on a constant basis. If you can get Oil deals then maybe, but let's be honest what are you chances of getting that? Online FX trading/spread betting can give you the returns you seek, but they are very risky and you can end up loosing quite a lot. If you want to go down that route, there are quite of lot FX traders here on NL who can give you advice and guidance. Whatever you finally decide I wish you the very best of luck. |
It would seem it is Igbo people who contiune to wallow in self-pity and hatred for everyone else. Get over yourselves. Every tribe in Nigeria has blood on it's hand and has offended others. The only question now is how do we move forward and maybe, just maybe hand over a developing stable nation to our children. Give the victimhood a rest please. |
Beaf:Well said bro ![]() |
Get some sense okay! Duty on cars and road is never same on VAT on Fuel! , duno where they get these crop of Nigerians in the UK from
Wow we really have a dim bulb in the house today! You were trying to make out that fuel in the Uk is cheep due to low VAT. I've pointed out to you that fuel in the Uk is not cheep to the very high rate of fuel duty. Who said anything about duty on cars? I assume you know the difference between VAT and fuel duty? So where exactly is the 'subsidy' you claim is being applied the Uk? So in summary: IN THE UK THERE IS NO FUEL SUBSIDY. WHILE THE VAT ON FUEL MAY INDEED BE LOWER THAN ON OTHER PRODUCTS, THE PUMP PRICE PER LITRE OF FULE IS ALREADY HEAVEILY MARKED UP BY FUEL DUTY TAX. Hope that's clear enough for you but if not I'll be happy to paint you a picture |
werepeLeri:Very well said!! |
YES, our VAT on Fuel is way way less than on other goods and services! That is the UK way of subsidy, okay. , numpty
Are you for real dude? Low vat on fuel in the UK? I assume you are aware of the fuel duty tax which is seperate from VAT? Here's some education for youAbout 57p of the cost of a litre of petrol in Britain is tax, compared with 31p in Spain, 45p in Italy, 48p in France and 52p in Germany. The Telegraph launched a campaign in May 2008 calling on Gordon Brown to scrap plans to increase road tax and a planned 2p per litre rise in fuel duty. The average Briton pays almost £900 in petrol taxes annually. The study, by the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers, shows that Britain has the highest fuel taxes of 27 European countries surveyed. The tax is also higher than in America, Canada and Australia. |
pokur:lol! Alas I am not smoking anything, just enjoying some good red wine to toast in the new year. Do you not agree that the fuel importing cartel will now effectivly be out of business? you refer sharks fleecing the nation, well we would expect that competion in the downstream sector will put a check to that.I really dont' understand how anybody can want a continuation of the current system which only favours the connected few. GEJ is taking on vested interestes in the Oil and Power sectors and he should be appluded for doing this. |
I think this is a good move. People let's try and look at this matter objectivly. No govt anywhere in the world can be expected to keep a subsidy on fuel. The fuel importing cartels have been doing everything in their power to ensure that our Refiniaries stay down. Now that fuel will sell at 'Market price' they will no longer have any incentive to continue to sabotage the refiniaries. Also the 20 private licneses that been awarded will now be acted on as the investors can now make a good business case for proceeding. I agree there will be pain in the short term, but people, thats what TRANSFORMATION is all about. Do you really think Ngozi and Sanusi will be advocating something that is bad for the nation? |
We must be wise my people. There are dark forces at work who are tyring to make us kill one another. Please let us look at Lebanon, Pakistan, Yeman et al this is what happens when we allow ourselves be pawns in the hands of dark forces. Indeed Boko Haram are evil but exactly what is achieved if we christians start killing Moslems? All that will do is make more Moslems join Boko Haram and before we know it we have a full scale religous war on our hands, and trust me nobody woudl want that. |
Ok English lesson of the day We are getting ready for office this morning and i try to iron my cloth, and my wife ask me to iron her own too. RIP Amy What a sad waste of a life. We can only hope that young people learn from this about the evils of drugs |
