Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel's Iron Dome Intercepts Rockets From Gaza (Video) by blaze83(m): 1:44pm On Oct 09, 2023
lordchiz:
Is this interception a recent one?
Then how did Hamas still got that scores?
It is terrible how dey still got Israel.....cos I saw rockets flying up and down hitting Israel.....
Pls answer?

The Iron Dome was overwhelmed. Apparently, the HAMAS discovered that firing thousands of missiles within a short space of time would overpower the Iron Dome, so there fired over 5,000 missiles within 20 minutes which overwhelmed the Iron Dome.

Previously, the Iron Dome had withstood even more than 5,000 missiles, but the difference was the over 5,000 missiles were fired over weeks, not a matter of minutes like it was on Saturday.

Still on still, the Iron Dome did a good job, imagine what 5,000 missiles could have done to a country as small as Israel if not for the Iron Dome that intercepted most of it.

NYSC / Re: One Year And More After NYSC - How Is It Going? by blaze83(m): 7:13pm On Jul 17, 2023
Tri7nity:
With the level of graduate unemployment in Nigeria, were you me asking yourself what you will do after NYSC and boom you were done with service. One year after, how has it gone? Share your experiences. Let's learn together

Served in 2019 as a Graduate Assistant in a University in South South,. Being that I read a course (Petroleum Engineering) in the university that required strong connection to get a job (My 400L IT na connection I use get am) and I even graduated with a Second Classs Lower, I knew it was gonna be really hard out there. I used my life saving at the time (About 100k) to buy a London Used laptop and started learning programming while serving.

Before the end of my service year, my house was burgled and my laptop stolen, I almsot lost hope. Heck, I went to a Babalawo to help me retrieve my laptop but the baba na cruise, nothing worked.

After service year, my HOD in the university tried to get my retained as I was really helpful to them, and the department actually needed staffs, it was a new faculty, barely 2 years old, but omo, Graduate Assistant work for University na still connection.

The university were to pay us extra stipends as corpers, but they didn't pay it monthly, everything was lumped up and the whole 11 months paid at the end of service year, totally around 120k (12k per month). I used 50% of the money again to get a second hand laptop from a friend this time (The guy sha gave me a dying laptop), continued my learning. Need to add I was also trading forex and binary initially too, but stopped after several losses.

I went home after the university work no work out and my rent almost expiring. 3 months later, I miraculously got an Oil and Gas job without knowing anyone, just went to the interview, passed the written and oral test and got the offer. 170k net exclusive of HMO, lunch and other benefits, also got a brand new laptop. I was doing the work, used the new laptop to be learning programming, this time, more slowly cos of the burden of work.

2020, Covid year...I was part of those "sacked" as Covid hit the oil industry hard. Meanwhile, before being sacked, we stayed at home for 3 months doing nothing, just collecting money every month. I used that time to accerlerate my learning, I started programming by learning Python so it was easy for me to apply that to data science. The sack came and I used the opportunity to apply for internships in tech, I got Data Science internships where I wasn't even paid. I learned while also applyng to Oil and Gas jobs and even went for interviews.

Long story short, God has been faithful, today I earn with multiple tech skills I acquired over the years. Still building capacity, while thanking God for how far I've come, and how far I trust He can still take me. Don't despair guys, equip yourselves with relevant skills and keep pushing.

On the flip side, Nigerian churches should take a lesson here. Try to carter for your members. Even Jesus fed his followers. Not always billing them. We should learn here.

There's a church that does this in Calabar where I served. They have good population. As Corps Members wey sapa dey wire with our 19,800 monthly allowance, we dey usually worship there sometimes o!

Family / Re: I Am Really Depressed, My Mom's Death Is Killing Me! by blaze83(m): 8:15pm On May 31, 2022
dboY1123:
It is a month already that my mom died in my hands.. I am really depressed!! I have been seeing life as nothing and vanity, I can't get over her, memories with her kept coming back really hard I tried to keep myself busy by watching movies, playing games and so on..But that doesn't stop my mind from remembering her.

These days, nothing bothers me again, not even life or death, I still have a father but it doesn't change things..

There was a time I went to school (my ppa), my proprietor was trying to pacify me by talking about when he lost his wife back then and everything, I started feeling uneasy and extremely tired..it wasn't stress at all my stomach started aching and I felt like vomiting or even passing out..he noticed it and I quickly left his presence and I went back home to shower and rest..

Please how can I get over my mom, I'm so obsessed with her and her memories kept coming in my head that every time I felt I could have done something to rescue her despite everything I did, taking her to state hospitals and even private.. I am the last born and I am about 29years..I have elder ones like 45(first born) but I took so much responsibilities when she was sick and I was only the one she could call everytime she's depressed due to memory loss..I later found out her sickness was related to heart failure and it was congestive heart failure she was going through.. All those times we thought she had nocturnal asthma like early last year..

It was only last month we knew that it was cardiomyopathy or cardiomegaly heart related.. The general hospitals we took her too didn't say anything like that, one of them only said her liver seemed bigger than the normal one..And we thought it was edema cz her legs were swollen.. So, it was heart related disease and it led to cardiac arrest or heart attack cz she just vomited and stopped breathing all of a sudden..

March 4 this year made it 1 year since I lost my dad. I was really pained and heartbroken cos this man was my biggest fan, and unlike my other siblings, I was the only he could call on phone and we'd discuss at depth from family to politics, literally any and everything. I was the last born so I spent more time with him growing up as my older ones elected to live away from home due to one thing or the other, I truly shared a special connection with him.

I was a shadow of my former self after his death, I stopped living. Life was meaningless to me and I even stopped going to church as I kept asking God why a healthy and strong man who has almost never gotten ill just died all of a sudden. I became violent after that and even caused a scene at his burial. To make matter worst, I lost an opportunity to travel out of the country via a job that came with relocation benefits, this was after I made it to the last stage of the process.

It was not easy for me, but life must go on. I just started going to church again last month and even though I still miss my dad, I have learned to live without him. I have been showering my mum with so much love that my dad would be proud and happy from up there.

I for one I'm happy with what Mbappe and PSG did to Fiorentino Perez (Madrid President), and every Madrid fan out there.

1. PSG matched Madrid financially, dollars for dollars.

2. And then Mbappe showed y'all that this age long belief una <Once Madrid calls, no player can say NO> ain't sh*t

You showed him You liked him and then went home to act the way you described?

If I was him, I'd think you saw something in him you didn't like that day, hence, your attitude.

You trying not to appear desperate is something you should have done well in your early 20's, not at 33. At 33, there's no need to play mind games, you've seen and done it all.

Talking about him not backing out after the treatment you gave him because he wants to escalate things? That's something also guys in their early 20s, I did that a lot in school growing up, no be now wey I be grown ass man and dey comfortable, I go still dey chase person who's attitude clearly shows that them no send my mama.

Rather than insult you like others, I'd advice you reach out, if he's like me, na now that desperation you didn't want to show would even be needed cos you have already bleeped up.

Some years ago, When Makarfi was the governor of Kaduna state, there was a war btw Iraq and Iran or was it Kuwait (can't say). Next thing, these guys started giving a crisis undertone inKaduna. Makarfi gave an instruction that an empty plane be made ready for a free trip to Iraq/Iran for whomever wants to fight. He said nobody should bring that nonsense to Kaduna. That was how everyone respected themselves and no one showed up on the plane. That man still remains my best governor of Kaduna so far.

By the way, he was a Muslim o but he had zero tolerance for BS.

It was because Ahmed Makarfi was the reason Kaduna didn't witness religoous crisis after another. Man didn't waste time in sending soldiers into the streets at any slight provocation from irate codeine drinking Hausa youths. I stayed in Kaduna during and after his regime before relocating.

3 years is not many years and there's no way you could have been taking this for 3 years and still have a phone and data.
There are high and low times in life and if everyone of us post our downtimes on the internet there will only be doom and gloom.
At 3 years after graduation, sincerely, I don't think wealth acquisition should be your priority. You should be under mentorship on your way to mastering a skill, building the right network and improving your communication skills and soft but powerful skills of loyalty, integrity and attention to details.
In Yoruba, there's an adage that if you are drinking garri and lean for now, you should know what you are using your body for i.e why it is so for now. You don't deserve pity because you are not a beggar.

Have Your Parents Ever Apologized To You?

Yes, my dad (May God rest his soul) only laid his hands on me once growing up. I wouldn't forget that night. When he saw me crying, he drew me close and apologized straight up. Told me he was sorry he beat me but I shouldn't do what I did again, that he was truly vexed hence why he had to beat me for the first time ever.

He never laid his hands on me again. He was my biggest fan and I was his favourite child and made him proud by always topping my class from nursery to secondary school.

When we the children all grew up, I was the only one that maintained a great father-child relationship with him as his other children, like most children, would rather call my mum.

It's been 7 months since his death and even as a 30 year old man that I am, his death messed me up mentally, emotionally and psychologically and I am yet to recover even now.

Rest in peace pops, I miss you everyday. I still haven't found anyone I call every Sunday to discuss politics or sociocultural issues with, or someone who to flex new vocabularies with (we always flexed vocabulary while speaking).

Adieu, I love you.

Nah eh! No qualms
This is so unsophisticated

I don't think so
Cos apples are the most
Expensive fruit here in Nigeria
One apple goes as high as 500 naira,
Most times I dey wonder how does apple juice sellers buy there apples and sell those juice at cheaper rate

Most fruit juices are not usually made from their natural fruits, talk more of Apples juice with how expensive Apples are and the fact they don't grow here.

What they use in making apples juice you drink are apple concentrates, like the apple flavour you buy in the market, they are not made from real natural apples.

This is one reason people are advised against buying and taking fruit juices, better to buy the fruit and make your juice at home naturally.
