lefulefu:Very easy, my brother.
|
blackbeau1:Sorry about yesterday. |
Jupxter:The plain, unvarnished truth. |
Jupxter:Well-said. Back in the university, my friend had girls who depended on him to help them with assignments. They live their lives partying and travelling every weekend. One day, I spoke to one of them about the importance of letting the school pass through them. Her mentality was that the kpali was the koko (certificate was the paramount thing). I tried to emphasize education over certificate but, expectedly, it went over her head. According to her, her big man (her father, most probably) just wanted her to get the certificate. A job was already waiting for her if she could just get it. It doesn't matter if she would be able to defend the certificate. |
lefulefu:
|
Jupxter:Yes, indeed. |
I think a lot of people are getting the topic wrong. I believe that education can never be a scam but school is ![]() During my service year, I met terrible graduates. Damn. The only thing that made them legit graduates were their degrees. Those were the only items they could boast of. Common affairs were zero for many of them and there was a lack of even a basic grasp of relative knowledge. It appears like the certificates were paramount in their scholarly journey. |
genghiskhan007:Okay. |
Oxster:School in Nigeria is a scam because of pervasive corruption. Let us start from the top. What is a lawyer (Fashola) doing in the Ministry of Power? Now, let us go down. Someone goes to school and struggles to get a degree in Accountancy but a Yoruba graduate gets the accountant job because he/she knows someone that knows the bank owner. The days of meritocracy are long gone. One of the friends I made during NYSC studied Microbiology. She has a top post in a bank today .So, in Nigeria, school is a scam. Only few people get to practice in their fields. Majority just carry certificates inside folders. Some people do not even use their certificates and yet they operate in a corporate world. |
kimbraa:Kimbra, what do you mean by uneducated? |
maxximumxx:Okay. |
genghiskhan007:Stop sounding inadequate, bro. Must you bring Muslims into an argument that does not even barely have anything to do with them? Don't be like those clowns in the politics section who always find a way of bringing Buhari into every issue, even mundane issues. |

Bro, we are talking about churches here. ![]() |
Praiz is funny o. You were trying to do what Did you say record? You must think you are in a sane country. He must have forgotten that Nigeria is a lawless country. I hope he didn't make jest of Kemi Olunloyo when she was arrested. |
kimbraa:Pure ignorance That is what you display when you refuse to grow spiritually by helping yourself with the Word. The Church is a body of saints. A body of believers. Every member of the body is already saved. It is the body (the Church) that would reach out to the sinners (the unbelievers), make them believe, baptize them and bring them into the fold. That was why I mentioned this verse: Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day--about 3,000 in all. (Acts 2:41) Peter did not add them to the church first. They had to believe first, get baptized, before joining the Church (the body of true believers/saints). |
kimbraa:The Church is a body of saints. You can't be a sinner and belong. I understand why you have this belief. You fail to understand what the Church means. It is the body of Christ. An assembly of saints. "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32 ) Who is a saint. It comes from the Greek word hagios which means consecrated to God A true Church is a body of saints. I will like you to show me how ignorant I am by showing a Bible verse that mentions that the Church is for sinners. The reason why I said you were throwing tantrums was because your posts were always emotional without any Scriptural backing. It is not enough to call me ignorant. The Pharisees must have thought that Jesus was ignorant being the son of a carpenter You should show verses that puts you ahead of me in Scriptural matters. |
HARDLABOR:You are right or close to being right. It is either that fellow is a bisexual man or a lesbian. |
Wallade:Nothing is wrong with my position. You wrote that the Church also belonged to sinners and I refuted that ignorant belief with a Bible verse. The Church is a physician sent to the sick (sinners). Of course, you need to provide Bible verses. Anything aside that is mere philosophy. As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures (Acts 17:2) That was Paul. He never went there to reason out of his own understanding. Emulate him. |
kimbraa:Scriptures I barely understand I don't know why you people are always angry. You have never mentioned one Bible verse since you have been making posts on this section. All you have ever done is throw tantrums. However, since you (Apostle Mrs Paul) rule that I barely understand that verse, I would like to tap from your superior understanding ![]() |
kimbraa:The Early Church never assembled for trivial matters. Give to Caesar what is Caesar's. The business of the church was to edify the believers and equip them with the Word so that they could go out and win more souls for Christ. |
kimbraa:Nonsense!! The church is for the edification of believers in preparation for the Great Commission (winning souls). It is not for entertainment. |
Wallade:Bro, I gave you a Bible verse, I don't have time for philosophies. Provide a Bible verse to support secular minstrels edifying the body of Christ. |
Wallade:Mister, the Church is an assembly of believers, not sinners. To join the true Church, you need to first believe and then get baptized. Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day--about 3,000 in all. (Acts 2:41) Today, what we have are cults. You are an evidence of the type of Christians these cults produce. Your pastors only care about numbers of worshippers but God cares about numbers of true believers. Noble believers in the mould of the Berean Jews. |
kimbraa:Why should a comedian perform in a church? A church is a solemn assembly of believers in Christ. This is how a true Church should conduct herself: What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation Let all things be done for edification. If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:26-33) |
A church should be participatory rather than passive. Everyone is supposed to contribute their gifts when the Church assembles. The passive church we have today where special people called pastors do the talking and the other worshipers (unbiblically referred to as laypeople) sit like zombies and listen and swallow up everything the so-called pastors say is unbiblical and exploitative.
Billyonaire:The church is the body of Christ, not a place for sinners. The Church is not like a hospital. The church is like a physician sent to the sick (sinners). |
Fidelmalek:
|
There are no churches in Nigeria. Just cults. |
NeeKlaus:I might have to review my sentence then. |
