PoliticsRe: NIMC Shuts Lagos Office To NiN Registrants by Bossman(m): 8:20pm On Dec 21, 2020
The NIN is automatically generated for anyone with a BVN, You can go to your bank where you registered for BVN, and ask for the BVN details. You will notice your NIN is on there as well. However, you still need to register/activate this NIN in the NIMC system.

As posted all over the forums, Anyone can dial that USSD code *346# from the number used to register for BVN, and it should show your NIN.

OceanEye:
What I don't understand is that after checking my sim card, I found out it has been linked to NIN even though I have never registered for NIN. Is something wrong somewhere?
PoliticsRe: NIMC Shuts Lagos Office To NiN Registrants by Bossman(m): 7:02pm On Dec 21, 2020
It's just ridiculous! The systems backend should have been linked after these many years. This should be a simple task that - each Telco should provide a portal that will link to the NIMC database directly. Not this nonsense of collecting the data and then manually sending it over to NIMC for verification.

As for the Telcos, it's crazy that if you lose your sim card they ask for the damn simpack. Who keeps the simpack in the safe. I really feel sorry for Nigeria. The country is just so way behind the times, it's comical!

jmoore:
Fools in power!!

The biggest fools in the universe are in Nigeria occupying political offices.

BVN
Voters card
International passport
Driving license

Common sense can't tell them to share database so it can easy for one to generate NIN online without going to the office.

I registered for the first national ID. It is no longer accepted. They are forcing us to queue for another one. These sadists love to see Nigerians suffer.

Even some telecoms are also useless. I went to MTN office to do a 'welcome back'. They told me to get a affidavit. I told the lady that my lost line was registered. That she should look into their database to confirm that I am the owner of the line. She insisted I should go and get affidavit. I walked out of their office and aborted the mission of retrieving the line.

What's the purpose of the registration, if you can't check the database to confirm the owner of the sim?

You can submit your glo info here. Of course, just like the other networks, this is just a capture of info. They will still have to send it over to NIMC to actually verify it.

PhonesRe: With The NIN Synchronisation In Place, What Happens To Number Recycling? by Bossman(m): 10:01am On Dec 17, 2020
Exactly! Not an issue at all. Registering the recycled/new sim card will require that an NIN be provided. Or once a number is recycled, Telco's will automatically delete all the owners data associated with the sim card.

Exc2000:
No big deal here

Once you buy a recycled line, upon the point of SIM Card registration you provide your NIN
TravelRe: What's The Worth Of 270 Dollars In The US by Bossman(m): 11:46pm On Dec 14, 2020
Honestly, it should not matter if $270 is big here, and what it can buy. The bottom line is, he told you he can't afford what you are asking, period! After all it's HIS money.
TravelRe: What's The Worth Of 270 Dollars In The US by Bossman(m): 10:04pm On Dec 14, 2020
It's all relative. To some, $270 (120K naira) may not be a lot, however it could be for others. The fact that he works in IT does not mean much. Yes, IT pays well, but he could also have tons of bills to pay, he is saving up for something, etc. As someone mentioned, one can live off of that for a month in some locations. May be you could ask how much he can afford to give you, and then find other means to make up the difference.

hector:
Please those of you in the US who have also been in Nigeria please can u help me with describing the worth of $270 in terms of purchasing power and wage. How long would it take someone to make 270dollars taking into consideration minimum wage.

What and what can u buy with 270dollars. Is it really a big money like he said. Someone of what salary level will consider it a big money?
TravelRe: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by Bossman(m): 3:22pm On Dec 12, 2020
Well, not sure about DOB. During my last visit to Nigeria, On November 6th, went to the Ikoyi office for a simple correction of name from like Yemi to Oluyemi, so that it will match my passport, because passport renewal failed, due to non-matching first name. I am still waiting. Had to leave Nigeria using my old passport. Luckily for me it's still active. The person that's helping me do the my passport informed me it's going to take months for the change to be reflected. I believe it's due to backlog.

Oh, I paid 15K as well. Even though the website indicated it should be 1K for name modification. I have already captured for passport as well. What a mess!

zevous:
anybody know how to do correction of DOB on NIN?? i have been hearing it takes months b4 the correction reflects

Thanks for posting the specs. I noticed it has only one LTE band (Band 4), and it's not used in Nigeria. So folks that need LTE should be aware of that., and that this device may not meet their needs.

I'd suggest you post the exact name and model here, so that folks can determine if it meets their needs. Or post the exact bands it has. That's very important.

PhonesRe: Recycled SIM Cards Flood Streets, Markets by Bossman(m): 9:47am On Dec 07, 2020
Yes, SIM cards are recycled everywhere due to inactivity. However, in Nigeria that period of inactivity is just 3 months. It's at least 6 months in most other countries. Anyway, as you mentioned, I recharge/record an activity on my SIM card every 3 months to keep it going in between visits to Naija. I have been able to maintain my line for 9 years by doing that.

AnonymousRebec:
In some telcoms companies in Nigeria, after 6 months of complete inactivity on your SIM, it is given to another person. That is why you have to recharge your line with airtime at least once in 6 months so that your number is not given to another person.

Tunmise100:
You are right!. I have spent over two years in the United States and the progress I have made in those two years; I would not have been able to achieve that level of progress in ten years in Nigeria. Please, Believe what I just said.

If you know what you are doing like @MackyNaija, you will be very successful in the USA. The United States is like gasoline added to your little fire. I hope you get what I mean.
TravelRe: How Much Will A Three Months Vacation In The US cost? by Bossman(m): 2:08pm On Nov 18, 2020
Good advice there. However, the Southern states (Not the Midwest) will be more affordable.

yemiosinbajo:
As for weather, if he is going in the summer, then, the weather is pretty much great everywhere. If he is going in the winter, however, I suggest the west coast or south (California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Florida) As for state affordability, let him try some of the states in the midwest - they are the most affordable in the US, but nothing to do in those states. The biggest concern for him should be how to scale the visa application/POE stage for a 3-month "vacation."

Why do we keep creating this separation rather than unite, The only way forward for Nigeria is unity.

Congratulations to the gentleman!!

PhonesRe: I Need An Answer About Xiaomi Phones Pls by Bossman(m): 7:18pm On Oct 24, 2020
I am pretty satisfied wit my Xiaomi device. It's one of the older ones, a Mi Mix 2. However, it still handles well Because it has very good specs. I alternate between it and a Galaxy A50 on a monthly basis, and honestly, I am usually looking forward to switching to the Mi mix 2. It's just more stable and fluid. Probably because of its slightly better specs.

TravelRe: Incoming International Flights To Lagos by Bossman(m): 11:03pm On Oct 22, 2020
It will have to depend on when the Nigerian airspace opens up. The airlines do NOT have control over that. AFAIK, the Nigerian airspace is still closed!

TravelRe: Can A Nigerian Enter Nigeria With Expired Passport by Bossman(m): 5:53pm On Oct 09, 2020
Normally, most airlines will not let you travel with an expired passport. However, due to COVID-19, they may relax those rules. Just explain to them that you could not renew it due to the consulate being closed. If they can verify that, I believe you should be okay.

TravelRe: Advice about moving To Nigeria by Bossman(m): 2:36pm On Sep 19, 2020
You'vce got very good advice already, and a very good wri up there by EgunMogaji2. So as most said, just put your mind to it, and know what to expect. Yes, Nigeria has the population. However,a very large percentage of that population have very little disposable income. So to take advantage of the large population, whatever business you do has to be easily affordable to the masses. Otherwise, it will be a struggle. I will give an example - Whenever you go to the mall, Ikeja mall for example, you'll see a lot of people there, but you will also notice that there is hardly anyone actually shopping in majority of the stores. You only see people in shopRite, the phone carrier stores (MTN/GLO, etc), and at the Restaurants. Why is this? because majority just cannot afford what's sold in all those other stores. Hope you get the jist...

PhonesRe: Nigeria Has ‘Most Expensive’ Internet Globally, Surfshark Press Study by Bossman(m): 3:06am On Aug 27, 2020
Things are still a little different, and that sure does attribute to the cost of internet in Nigeria. For example, in Nigeria almost all internet access is via mobile data/network. While, in most other places internet access is via wired fiber optics. So every home/apartment here has a wired network coming in that connects to a router. And the router supplies the rest of the house. So it's cheaper to have unlimited internet. Everything runs off the internet, so unlimited is a must! So until Nigeria gets to that point, the cost of internet access will continue to be high.
