Yes I have had the experience of feeling hunger that pains muscles though, usually, I do something reasonable about my hunger before my muscles hurt and I do "almost anything".

I once went to mama put and started washing plates not daring to clear tables myself least she think I wanted to eat the leftovers. Afterwards, she gave me 30kobo eba with a 10kobo fishhead but I told her I don't want the fish head and can she let me take 10kobo eba home for supper. She gave me 30kobo eba with the fishhead and asked if I'd be back the next day.

The problem with answering whether atheists are spiritual or not is that the term "spiritual" is so vague and ill-defined most of the time. Usually when people use it they mean something similar to, but nevertheless very distinct from, religion. This is probably an improper usage because there are very good reasons to think that spirituality is more a type of religion than anything else.
