LiteratureRe: Chimamanda Adichie's New Hair Style: Like Or Dislike? by callmenow: 4:14pm On Jan 07, 2014
Ms Adichie is not a model and (or) a 'showbiz' personality. It is improper that she be assessed as a sex object or glamour woman. She is famous for her evocative Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun. These are very serious and acclaimed books. I want all you NLs to stop dumbing down this woman, especially some of you who have not as yet availed yourselves of her books or essays. She is the Nigerian Ambassador where letters are concerned. Stop all these nonsense and focus on Tonto Dikeh, Ini Edo, Tiwa Savage and other lesser 'stars'. The Insolence of NLs.

Ever wondered how SR came into existence. Ever wondered how many times Sowore of SR was dismissed for fraud? So your friends are fraudsters Abi? Tell me your friends, and I will tell you ...... Speculation about your list below does not carry. Yaradua has died, and Yaradua is dying is the same Abi? Jonathan was drunk evidence? In your dreams. Man up or shut up.

superstar1: SR told us yar Adua was dead, it was denied initially, until Yar Adua was buried.

SR told us Madam Peace had surgery in German, it was denied again until Madam Peace gave thanksgiving in church.

SR told us Mr President was a drunk, it was denied, until evidence surfaced.

SR told us a 255m worth of cars were bought. It was also denied, until House of Reps probed the allegation.

I will rather believe SR, than belief NTA.

Edwin Clarke. Paid Piper. Jonathan Acolyte. erstwhile OBJ acolyte. Your speech writer has done you a disfavor. He has made you sound, bitter and disoriented. I want you and others to concentrate on the sovereign national conference instead of joining issues. The IJAWS are now garnering their due rewards. Appointments and lack of it is neither here nor there. No more open letters. Nigeria has become a global laughing stock. What is the point of NASS. if politicians write these open letters (filled with inaccuracies) with impunity?

A picture says a million words. The modern face of CORRUPTION. Planning on how to loot Nigeria, and bleed the Nation dry. And here NL are busy ruminating on the wherefores of Presidency, etc by a very prodigal and corrupt ex-minister. This charlatan who was accused of fraud by EFCC, ICPC and other agencies is still planning to bestride Nigeria one more time (He has not been fully exonerated). I grieve for Nigeria. These people should proudly be caged at Kirikiri or other high security gulags instead.

You must rise above pettiness. I personally do not like Mrs Oduah. I do not like arrogant and aloof people. Having seen her from a distance, I did not like what I saw. However, belittling her because she is a woman or eboe or there is a no brainer. Nigerian state should effectively implement FOI which was meant to be on the statute books by now, to avoid all these knee jerk reactions. . Yoruba is a proud nation of achievers. Are you?

There is nothing to comprehend with your imprecise response below. I do not insult or abuse my privileges gratuitously here. What probe was made? Saying that the college does not exist and no one was willing to answer their lazy question? What do you know about SR or Sowore and his probing methods? So you think that Mrs Oduah should respond to all kind of nonsense because you are here in NL. FYI, NASS are mandated to verify all ministerial nominees. In carrying these duties, they are required to assess the nominee's suitability. SSS will conduct the security clearance only. Other aspects of the nominees CV are handled by the house standing committee. It pays to be intelligent, and not follow the herd as you are doing here. SR is a fraudulent organisation. So you stand with fraudsters. It could be your turn tomorrow, which is the essence of my earlier post which you failed to comprehend and which you feel aggrieved about.

Pamcrest: Welcome to d club! Your insults say a lot about u. grin
Let me repeat myself slowly......SR did its probe n made d statement.....it's left for Stella to respond.
I repeat: I stand by SR until I hear from Stella.
Are u able to comprend this now?

Sahara Reporters are not journalistic. SR started, after Jonathan Elendu of elendureports.com sacked Sowore (the owner of SR) for fraud. We all knew what elendureports was. FYI, it was a hatchet website. They will claim to have information against their 'victim'. If you pay them money, they will praise you instead. If you don't, they will disseminate falsehood anyway. Both elendureports.com and SR do not have an office in Nigeria, but virtual and offshore and cannot be easily sued or subpoenaed. Now anyone can setup an outfit to embarrass and ultimately blackmail Nigerian Politicians with impunity. Ignorance is the most expensive thing in Nigeria. It is worse than corruption. My argument is that SR is founded on fraudulent premise. Those that live in glass house must not ...... We should be focusing on the fraud that is SR. It is CORRUPTION quantified.

The Yoruba is a 50 million plus nation. They are the size of France or UK. Please do not trivialise the matter at hand by going tribal on this one. This matter has nothing to do with Yoruba. Yoruba has always enjoyed a proud history. The focus should be SR and their questionable methods. Please do not digress here.

It is possible that you are one of the educated illiterates out there trying her (or his) best to sound reasonable. What if SR says that your father is a thief, should I believe that until your father denies it. And WHAT if NL claims that @Pamcrest is a love peddler. Should we agree until you disprove that allegation? Just imagine that Mrs Oduah denies every allegation by SR, NLs and Punch and Leadership newspaper. What sort of life will she have? Think about the calumny heaped on Diezani and others. I have said that most Reps and Senators claim to have MBA's and Diplomas, yet the degrees they claim are not accredited by the awarding institution. Most of the board of directors of our biggest banks are there with dubious certificates. However, I will be the last to publish their names. You must take these publications with a pinch of salt (laced with cynicism). I pity NLs. I pity the mindset of the young in Nigeria. Ignorant, imbecillic and moroniic

Pamcrest: What have u said now? We shouldn't believe SR's probe but we can believe yours, abi?
Who told u NASS does any verification on nominees......they rely on what SSS tells them.
I stand by SR story until i hear from Stella
PoliticsRe: Stella Oduah Lied About Her MBA Degree - Sahara Reporters by callmenow: 9:28am On Jan 07, 2014
I have now read around this story and done one or two probes. There has not been any conclusive proof of forgery. That a college which has been shut since June 2013 will now issue a statement on Mrs Oduah is not germane. Normally, SR or their cohorts should have gone to the supervising education body (of the college in question) to verify their allegations before going to publish. They should have also verified from NASS about their own investigation of the matter. NASS, in their verification exercise of probable ministers will either approve or refuse to approve a minister after conclusive probe. It is improper that SR is polluting and corrupting Nigerians and the larger world by being the judge, jury and executioner. We must applaud good investigative journalism and reports, however on the same token, must abhor and repudiate debased and unsavoury publications. There is a reason why NASS were elected (or selected). They were mean't to do all these JOBS. Tinubu served two terms in Lagos despite his certificate issue with Chicago. Andy Uba was the effective chief of staff of OBJ with dubious certificate issues (incidentally, he submitted his WAEC for both his governorship and senatorial punts, instead of the contentious US certificates.). The list goes on... I have in the past done a quick probe on educational achievements of the NASS. three quarters have questionable certificates. Four of the governors in the north have questions to answer. A quarter of the special advisers in ministries has questionable CV's. Most educated and comfortable people in this country are uninterested in POLITICS. The reasons are numerous. However, Nigerian politics is like no other. Ethnic, tribal and jingoistic nonsense about this woman must be cauterized. Sanity must prevail

PoliticsRe: Open Letter To Jonathan: Asari Dokubo Replies Obasanjo by callmenow: 7:45pm On Jan 03, 2014
It has to come to this. Asari is obviously exercising his right as a citizen of Nigeria. He has made a very serious allegation which suggests that OBJ was an accessory to his failed assassination aided by Dr. Odili. We must wait and see whether Dr. Odili or the other parties mentioned in his letter will corroborate or deny his version of events before condemning him. The nation illness of acting before thinking it through is elevated over this December and January. Asari must also assume some of the responsibility for the mayhem which he presided over whilst he was championing the cause of his IJAW nationhood. Only in Nigeria

Thank God for twitter. We get to know how some so called 'prominent' Nigerians conduct themselves and their politics when they fall out of favour with the presidency of the day. El Rufai is the epitome of cowardice. A notorious keyboard warrior. He is pathologically vain, mostly paranoid, certainly deluded and essentially defensive. What a pillock. He seems to have made a deal with the devil. Is it by force that he has to be a minister? Since when has it become a divine right for anyone to rule Nigeria. They should cool down. Jonathan is not eboe. OBJ's assumption that no eboe must aspire to the presidency of Nigeria for a hundred years after the defeat of Biafra is still intact. Or does OBJ's stated aims include Bayelsa as part of eboe land? All these rumours of impending coup in Abuja is making me frisky. I do not want any more military rule in Nigeria. I will be re-confirming my foreign residency permit pronto. This tone of 'us' and 'them'. Either us or military mentality from the likes of Rufai and Kayode will haunt them if they get their wishes.

Firstly, does Fashola need an armored car. The answer is YES. In short does he need security? The answer is YES. Therefore does he need or deserve the security vote, which amounts to billions of Naira which he gets annually? The answer again is YES. What and how he spends it is up to him. The central question is whether a significant person in Nigeria requires a bullet proof car? The answer is YES. Mr Obanikoro needs to appreciate the Nigerian opposition will always use opposition tactics to embarrass the PDP led government. Nigerians generally suffer from memory loss. Nigerians does not really want to know what the opposition gets up to with respect to corruption. They focus on the 'winner' and vent their spleen correspondingly. C'est la vie.

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, I last saw you at the Africa Centre at Convent Garden, in London in September, barely three months ago. You were angry about the future direction of Nigeria, and spoke specifically on the unconstitutional role of First ladies in Nigeria Politics. The applause for your performance from that event is still ringing in my ears, etc. You came across again as the conscience of the nation. The death of a close relative is always very painful. However the death a child of any hue is especially so. I on behalf of the many Nigerians you mentored on the day stand with you at this time. You must find the strength which you have in abundance to console your wife and the larger family. May the soul of your just departed daughter find repose in our Lord. The Nigerian Masses are behind you all the way.

Misplaced priority. He is like any other citizen. Why is he always running around to gossip? What of all the money that EFCC and ICPC has been trying to recover from him. The exceptional reason why these jobbing 'politicians' are flitting around Nigeria, is because the OBJ stopped EFCC and ICPC from trying to investigate them. These crime fighting organisations were leaned on by the Presidency to soft pedal, because of the feeling that their investigation will affect OBJ. Jonathan must withdraw and let the EFCC do their Job. On a festive note, although I still believe that all corrupt stealers must roast on this earth as well in hell, Allah has given him another chance to be a good husband to his four wives and 17 children. Hope he takes this opportunity and apply his stolen wealth.

Tunde Bakare is a charlatan. This is festive season. Jonathan is not in the habits of giving cows. If he wants to give someone something, he always invites the recipient to Aso Rock for bonding first. Bakare is not MOG. He is very fake. He wants to rule Nigeria. He has been marginalised within the APC. He is now looking for relevance. However I agree that people can receive or reject things politely without displaying their lack of CLASS. This methinks is a political trick. Stir up controversy and claim that you are serene (A la OBJ). I thought El Rufai will have berthed a Job by now instead of acting as a THUG/TOUT. He is always with Femi Nematode in Abuja. Friends of OBJ. Political Sons of the discredited OBJ. PASS

Liveair: If this is true, then Jonathan has made another Blunder.
Is he trying to buy Bakare? I can only imagine how many others GEJ must have sent same to.
However, to show the President some respect, Bakare should have rejected it politely.

Are these your six top officials Nigerians? The vice president, senate president and the speaker is from the north. The others are from the south. The NASS were required to vote their officers. So what are you saying? The CJN is northern. The south south has bagged the presidency. The north has bagged the NASS. The Hausas also bagged the Judiciary, completing the tripod of the persisting democracy in Nigeria. There is no such as a deputy in Nigeria. It is all ceremonial. To be seen and not heard. The eboes and yorubas have lost out again. However the above are performing, so that is a joy. Ease off. Criticism is easy but it does not create

anonimi: I thought it was Tinubu, in order not to have any opposition to his strangle-hold on the yorubas, who gave away our slot as Speaker House of Reps to Tambuwal.
Is that not correct huh
Now we do not have any yoruba in the first six ranking positions in Abuja:

- President & Vice President
- Senate President & Deputy
- Speaker HoR & Deputy

So if you have any grievance about treating yorubas as inconsequential you should face the JagaBandit on Bourdillon Road and not GEJ in Aso Rock.
In giving the above advice I am assuming you are capable of RATIONAL thoughts devoid of useless emotional sentiments. I hope I am not mistaken.

Granted, the case has to be made that there are small percentages that lie about their location, after all this is Nigeria. But on the basis of weighted averages, Lagos comes out on top. The evidence is there. Eko Atlantic, Lekki phases, etc. There is evidence that migrations from other African countries is also tipping the scale for Lagos. Why are people in UK and US unhappy with this data, if it is all fabricated?

claremont: Not really. The data shows that 96% of the migration into Lagos is from within Nigeria, not foreigners. Moreover, this data should be taking with a spoonful of salt, reason being that most Facebook profiles are an inaccurate representation of the user anyway. We either claim to be democrats and subscribe to the rule of law or agree to the military marshall law which was useful to Nigeria in the eighties and nineties. The law by the way is a combination of the constitution and amended constitution by NASS and precedents handed down by the Judiciary. Jonathan cannot fire the police personnel and judges at will. The constitution clearly stipulates the order for firing and hiring of public personnel. The appellation, chief law enforcement officer is derived from him being the head of state. That does not mean that he can do anything without cause, just because he is the chief law enforcement officer. That is why he sets up administrative bodies to investigate and report back to him if there is probable cause. I am sorry if I sound sure of myself. I happen to practice LAW. I have not found one impeachable offence by this man. Nigeria does not deserve this achieving man. Except if you want abrogate the rule of law, I wish you a happy crossover to 2014 as well.

agbameta: 1. Jonathan is the commander in chief of the Nigerian armed forces he is also the chief law enforcement officer of the federal republic of Nigeria and via his executive powers, he appoints and fires all federal minsters, federal judges and heads of all the crime fighting agencies in Nigeria so his inability to stop corruption is a gross reflection of the caliber of folks he hires. He is still responsible and this condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

2. You can not fight corruption while at the same time pardon corrupt people and international fugitives. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

3. You can not fight corruption while at the same time hire corrupt people under EFCC investigation to fill top government positions. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

4. The scandal at the Lagos police college transpired because of corruption, negligence and incompetence, but instead of firing all the folks involved, he promoted them, he gave them National awards and top government positions. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

5. Stella Oduah engaged in serious acts of corruption, incompetence and perjury and she should have been fired even as recommended by the people of Nigeria via NASS, but GEJ didn't. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

6. GEJ is yet to make public his assets declaration and not doing so and by even telling Nigerians he doesn't give a damn shows a very mentally corrupt and insensitive man with zero leadership qualities and presidential decorum. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

7. You don't need judges or EFCC to catch oil theft folks, you need strong and capable law enforcement people, not enriching and ceding over our maritime safety and security to ex militants and terrorists. This condoling, is aiding and enabling corruption.

Nigeria will not break down or break up or whatever. APC or the other parties will continue to be the opposition. Jonathan will step down at the appropriate time. The north deserve twelve years of unmitigated rule over the infidels. Nuff time to islamise Nigeria. There will be no plebiscite to secede. The dividend has now reached the hinterlands of the IJAW nation. Every single man feels 'actualised'. All the other nationalities are restive. However, I like the idea that Jonathan will be probed after his tenure. He knows and welcomes this. Posterity beckons. The next president should come BH land, Maidugiri or environs methinks. All for peaceful co-existence.

Validated: This not a good news to either PDP or APC. I foresee a dangerous political trend in 2014 that would make 2015 non-existent for the entity called Nigeria. You may spill whatever you like, but if GEJ is impeached, automatically you will discover that the prediction by America and CIA will come to pass. Unfortunately the same elites who will lose all they 'own' are orchestrating this move.

The fight against corruption is a multi-faceted one. He inherited EFCC, ICPC, Nigeria Police Force, and others. He has equipped and encouraged these outfits to work assiduously to eliminate corruption. However these anti-corruption agencies have been hampered by the Judiciary. The Nigerian Judiciary is probably the most corrupt in the civilised world. Even more corrupt than the next, which is Pakistan. Where you must buy your 'justice'. He has appointed a lady as the Chief Justice to clean up the Judiciary, yet she is right now fighting for her life. Remember that democracy is the rule of law. Yet the law is not WORKING. I understand that there is a new law to jail errant and corrupt judges and magistrates. The first time this kind of law will be enacted. The NASS is very corrupt. The speaker does not publish his expenditure of billions appropriated for the House. Senator Mark 'lords' it over the Senate. Is it Jonathan's job if the bastion of good governance is found wanting? He is forbidden from interfering from the Judiciary and NASS. Otherwise he will be impeached. The corrupt NPF was there before him, Abubakar is weeding out the corrupt ones. Abubakar is not from Bayelsa despite all the innuendos. The EFCC and ICPC chairman is not from the Bayelsa, SE, SS or even anywhere near these places. The chairman of the INEC is not fron Otuoke either. He has said and cried over the corruption in Nigeria. He is definitely working to eradicate corruption. However he is slowed down by NIGERIANS. I wish I can eliminate these Nigerians myself. You know what I mean anyway.

agbameta: I din't ask you for any history lesson regarding corruption in Nigeria, Jonathan is the president of Nigerian today and at this very second and based on your claims about all his wonderful achievements, please share with us all his corruption fighting achievements.

The cancer of corruption is all around us. It has been all around us for some decades now. How did we become so corrupt. Surely you cannot put all the blame on this man. Corruption is in the polity because of inequality. It is also here because unfairness and lack of justice. Can we blame Jonathan? I beg to digress. Throughout the eighties, nineties and noughties, before the advent of Jonathan, Nigeria was regarded as the Number one in corruption. Please familiarise yourself with the work of Transparency International. Yet the likes of you has just woken up to pretend that Jonathan brought corruption to Nigeria. It is widely acknowledged that the best way to treat this cancer is to provide 'welfare', fairness and justice to the populace, such that our moral code can be improved. Your other point about appointment. All the appointment went through the NASS. NASS are required to apply the federal character, and other required criteria before all these ministers and directors are qualified. Do you know how these appointments are made? Every state is required to nominate, before they nominations are sent to NASS. Ignorance must not be attested as BLISS. Did Jonathan scour SS, SE or Otuoke only for the appointments? Are we stupid to believe this noonsense from you? Lastly, please name a truly democratic president who believes or believed in the rule and the constitution of their nation (Don't bother with former Nigerian HOS). Yet this humble man has allowed the antics of the likes of Fani Nematode and others who have been pointedly inciting the citizen. He has been too democratic for my liking.

agbameta: The fact that you are in the opposition and criticize the president doesn't mean you are a no gooder, it means you are concerned about your country and you want whats best for your country. W e are all entitled to that including you so please stop the ignorant and emotional nonsense about no gooder, it's what the incompetents hide under.

You are obviously not too good when it comes to current affairs because this man's only weapon remains ethnicity and division.

This man not only openly picked his favorite ethnic group, he made sure to let us all know who his favorites are buy labeling them the pillar of his administration.

His administration is too lopsided in favor of just one tribe and everything about him is ethnic and tribal so try again with another line.

Nigerian's number 1 problem is corruption so please tell us what wonder he's done to arrest and do away with corruption.

lol @ The first democratic leader in Sub-Sahara Africa. Are you high on something because this is more than ignorance.

Why must ruling Nigeria be analogous to fighting a trench warfare. Democracy demands fairness and justice. Nitwits at CBN make allegations, then withdraws it. Ex-president makes allegation, his daughter makes allegation, he refuses to reply his daughter's allegation, the incumbent replies the ex-president, the ex-president talks about impudence of the current president. With any other president, all of the above, and quite a few NL will be languishing deservedly in a gulag. Jonathan must deliver the dividends and step down for the north to rule for 12 years to 'balance the books'. However, keep your views where it belongs (your head). Do not feel under any obligation to air imbecilic views. This is not designed as an insult, but a patriotic citizen.

Pukkah: You've hit the nail on the head.

Jonathan has proved clearly that he's not a consummate politcian. Unluckily for him, there are no real politcians around him that are used to nights of long knives and fighting in the trenches. The only person that's close to that is Tony Anenih whose old and tired voice has been crowded out by the cacophonous voices of Akpabio, Wike, Tukur, etc.

Jonathan did not utilize the 'readiness' of Tinubu to work with him and he didn't press further, post 2011 election, to tip SW to his side (politically speaking).

Imagine if he had secured the political support of SW, whom some of us noted here as the bride to be courted, before the implosion in PDP. In addition, the SW has long been used to political fights and being in the opposition. You don't alienate such a region and other real politicians at the same time.

I was shocked the day Jonathan naively described SE as the pillar of his support and even more shocked as he sat through the campaign where Arthur Eze referred to APC as the party of Awolowo that killed their children.

I noted here that such statements would unite other parts of the country against him and tip neutrals and moderates to the other side.

For some odd reason, he has also inexplicably held on to Tukur whom he should have used as gambit to bargain for his political survival.

The creation of PDP Governors forum, ostensibly to break or weaken Amaechi or the Governors, was also petty and unnecessary.

I also wonder why he has not courted Atiku, who appears to be 'floating' and whom he could use against Obasanjo.

Sometimes I ask myself why Jonathan, the President of a secular country, must go everywhere with Oritsejafor. Oritsejafor has succeeded in creating enemies for Jonathan even within christendom, let alone the other side.

The handling of the ex-militants and their explosive statements has also been very poor. Ex-militants, like Oritsejafor and co, now own private jets and even universities!

The handling of corruption cases is another sore point. Why pardon Alamieyeseigha and stubbornly hold on to Odua, Oteh while turning a blind eye to what's going on in the Oil Ministry?

All these have frittered away the massive goodwill on which Jonathan rode to power in 2011.

The heat is on and as the flurry of activities increases, I hope he won't make more mistakes in a bid to fight back for the political survival of his life.

NB: This is a political analysis and does not mean I support the ways of Nigerian politicians.
