If he is stingy how has he been supporting other parties? Lies, propaganda and contradictions as always. |
Dansuqi:Hahahahahaha. Abeg mallam where are you from? Zamfara abi Congo? PDP lost power simply because they were over confident. APC gained power simply because the people were tired of PDP, listened to propaganda and wanted a change. That APC is not as politically suave as PDP is clear to all to see. Let's agree that the primaries will be by direct voting. Which faction will APC Nwc now listen to? Which factional/local/state chairmen sacked Oshiomole? Was it Imuse? If it was not does that not show you the recognised faction? Now the APC candidates have to deal with the recognised faction. If that is the case how can a candidate not originally recognised by the accepted faction sideline the legitimate people? As it stands I can safely use the word illegitimate faction. That's where Oshiomole's group belongs. Where will they find the power to talk? Did you not listen to Shuaibu's speech? He said "I move with the governor. Where he goes, I go". What was the "original plan" you mentioned? See if Ize Iyamu does not get the ticket, it will be clear evidence of luck against him and the failed remove-Obaseki-at-all-cost plan if Oshimole. Iyamu joined the wrong faction thinking that he would not win governorship on the platform of PDP. |
Spallanzani:See you. So as it stands you do not even know that politics is mathematics and more? The federal might you even pointed. to is a part of power play in political calculations. If APC knew what's up they would not consistently shoot themselves in the foot. What's playing out in Edo state today played out in other states earlier. Result nko? PDP won. Open your eyes, and others and understand how it goes. Talking about federal might. With your federal might in Rivers state 2019, how did it end? |
Simply put a lot of our professors in this country have ended up making mockery of themselves. With what we see at election centers, with professors as returning officers, they should bow their faces in shame. This man probably thought it was business as usual when Obaseki became governor. Oshiomole was given a dose of the same pill he gave Anenih when he single handedly brought Obaseki. To fight Anenih, one leg of Oshiomole's stool was corruption. Can he tell any reasonable person that what sustains his party people in Edo state is not corruption? When he deceptively introduced Obaseki as a technocrat, what played behind the scenes we did not hear. But going by the Nigerian politicians that we know one of the conditions would have been regular supply of public funds. The governor failed that agreement and that simply is the no. 1 reason for the battles. This professor also did not get free funds. Oshiomole late last year in the incident in Iyamho when he was attacked by thugs said that he did not teach Obaseki/Shuaibu what they did. So we could deduce that he taught them certain things, one of which was how to end godfatherism. He taught them all how he resisted and defeated the late Tony Anenih. Today they applied the same instrument against him. How would the professor talk about thuggery and breaking down people's properties? Oshiomole did worse things. Remember Bob Izua? What about the widow? We need good professionals in politics and not professional politicians. If it takes men with the will like Obaseki to make our states and nation better let's support them. People like this hypocritical professor should bow their faces in shame. The governor has found a party. If he does not return as governor he has at least opened the eyes of Edo people more to the destruction of their state by some greedy people. |
PIMPAR:If your comment is a bank cheque it will definitely bounce bro. As it stands, all contestants will weigh their chances. They make agreements and decisions are taken. If unfavourable, they'll decamp and either make the parties stronger or weaker. Oshiomole accepted Ize Iyamu because he believed that Iyamu would make APC stronger. The same goes for all the contestants. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Obaseki did not run to Atiku or anyone to beg. Do not make a mistake. Alignments and realignments are allowed and very necessary in politics. All politicians across all parties talk issues among themselves. They see and know what happens. They also have anticipations. They all knew this would happen to Obaseki. APC took its time to decide on Obaseki. What played out in the day for all to see was decided in Abuja in the night. PDP anticipated it and prepared. Obaseki is moving around to dot the i's and cross the t's. For PDP and other parties he is the beautiful bride. When he decamps Edo state will be grouped among the PDP states. Definitely he will make PDP stronger in the state. He's of more value to the PDP than other contestants. That means PDP will fight tooth and nail to protect their state. Now do you see how your Oshiomole has been messed up and has started fighting for his political survival? If the supreme court confirms his expulsion from APC, na ofone be that. He would have been dealt with by an "ordinary" ward chairman. Imagine how a ward chairman has dealt with a national chairman and the law backed him up. Na Oshiomole dey beg pass now. Can you not see clearly now that Obaseki's fight against godfatherism is succeeding? |
Expect Obaseki's defection to the PDP either today or tomorrow. People have not taken their time to understand the game of politics played between PDP and APC. For me PDP is more technically sound than APC. The state chairman of PDP has already alerted us that the governor will join PDP. PDP definitely would have long ago weighed their chances with Obaseki. If it would not work they would not have delayed with him. With Shuaibu's resignation statement it is abundantly clear that he there is an agreement in place for him not to run as deputy gov under PDP but he'll support Obaseki/PDP to damage APC. That has been part of the delay. Now Ize Iyamu enterred a one chance bus with APC. The recognised faction of APC in the state is controlled by Obaseki. Iyamu did not get his registration done under them. By tomorrow, friday, if he cannot prove his APC membership to the court, it will be all over for him. The national APC will be forced to take instructions from Obaseki's faction in Edo state, making them accept indirect primary. The party will be weakened so that Obaseki can win on his new platform. Anyway the game is played, Oshiomole's errors have put APC into trouble in Edo state just like other states. Obaseki would have concluded agreements with other PDP contestants by now and the party will announce any moment. Those who called Obaseki a political liability should learn lessons in political arithmetics and tactics. |
Very unfortunate in our country. Two northern owned companies fighting over resources owned by southern tribes, while the original owners of the resources suffer poverty. Within this corvid19 period Dangote built 600 bed hospital for his people in Kano state. When the major market was destroyed by fire he gave his people 1billion naira. How much has Dangote accomplished in Edo state? All we have in that state is destruction of its land and resources. Trucks killing and maiming people on Edo roads daily. Abeggi. Very soon Dangote trucks will start their irresponsible was on Ajah - Lekki axis and trouble the peace of the people. We need to sit down and make decisions about our relationship as a country. |
Seerade029:He will say "give me broom I no resign again"! |
COMPAQ:The military in the 80s introduced tolling booths on two highways namely Lagos - Ibadan and Onitsha - Enugu. There was a framework established connecting revenues to road repairs. Infact that was the purpose of establishing the tolling booths. The problem was that the money realised was instantly embezzled. As observed by you too staff of the federal ministry of works who were originally assigned there made the tolling plazas their private businesses with forged receipts, non issuance of receipts but receiving payments, etc. The roads were concessioned thereafter but the story of corruption by the investors remained the same until government pulled out. It became an issue of litigation. We have a major problem in this country and it is corruption. Privatization helps the economy and the people but in our country it is not the same. Daily times newspaper is an example. We were lucky with telecoms. The reason why power is a problem in this country is simply that ECN, NEPA, PHCN, as it was called at different times, was a veritable source of looting for government officials. When it was broken up into Gencos and Discos, what changed? Nothing. Those who ran NEPA aground took over in the name of privatization, turned around to obtain billions from the FG and still maintain status quo. Government officials see privatization as means of enriching themselves while agreements are going on and making money when all things are set in place. With all the taxation where are the jobs? This country needs a Messiah. |
All Fashola knows how to do is big proposals and visions without end. Everything he said before and after becoming a minister have been complete lies and monumental failures. Light, roads and housing all rubbish. All we have been suffering in this country in the last 5 years have been increase in exchange rates, too much loans obtained from everywhere, taxation of practically everything, killings, embezzlement of resources and lies. What will concession achieve in the end for the people of the country? Nothing but more hardship. When he talks of concession he sounds as if neutral companies are expected to take over. They have looked at opportunities and positioned their proxies and companies to take over the roads too. The result in the end will be them making the money and government fixing the roads. When roads were concessioned during the military what was achieved? Nothing! They made the money, government fixed the roads. Cost of transportation rose as public transport increased. All roads were in very terrible shape. Concessions were revoked and Nigerians had their peace. And by the way I noticed that Lagos - Ibadan was not included. What's the idea behind it? |
OVB123:Only you this early morning wey we never chop. "Political quamire, attrition and catatony". Please help us explain the English. Do you use the dictionary of the great grammar politician from Edo state? |
How was he able to travel to Lagos with the interstate travek ban in place? Particularly disturbing is that the president was aware of the journey and events thereafter. One wonders therefore why interstate travel ban is in place. Why have police personnel and other security agents been accused of violating the rule? Or did his journey to Lagos fall under essential services list? Why would these people make laws and flout then as they like? |
Suddenly most people on nairaland are supporting Obaseki. What changed suddenly? What happened to Oshiomole's supporters here? |
Before he became chairman of APC, all hopes were placed on him to be a better chairman than Oyegun. APC was in serious crisis with 22 out of 37 excos in court over one issue or the other. Serving governors rallied round him along with the biggest political names in APC to become the chairman. By the time 2019 came Oshiomole was in contest with most of the state chairmen, excos, etc, including his state governor and party exco. Under his watch APC has faced some unnecessary and unbelievable battles and losses. APC lost Zamfara |
All he knows is "legal action", "illegal action", "military action", action this, action that. Now the action of a ward chairman has removed his own national chairman's action and sent him home to rest! |
Well said by Enang. But changing the status quo may be very difficult. Those companies are the politicians we hear and powers behind the present crop of political office holders. |
helinues:Kemi Olunloyo was credited with that information. Let"s ask her how far |
Very well built Igbo guy. Congratulations and happy birthday. |
MrsNwaAmaikpe:Your comment is completely reckless, very ungentlemanly, totally irresponsible and highly unwarranted. Why make such remarks about the state of the man's wife? I think on a forum like this decorum should matter to all participants, irrespective of age, religion, tribe and party affiliation. |
Who should have taken responsibility? Who is the contractor? Nonsense. Enugu state government must get the guarantee for the bridge in place ensuring the bridge will not collapse immediately after construction. |
One cannot understand this APC and their brand of "democracy" and "progressives". Where is the democracy in their selection of candidates and where is the progressive in the affairs of the nation? Their selection process never ends well. Next violence and bitter court process follow. |
Today the Appeal court upheld the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomole as a member and chairman of APC. Oshiomole fought this battle and gave the impression that he was untop of the matter until today. It is said that "oga get master". What we see in the APC today is "man pass man". Oshiomole used his strength to block Obaseki's ambition and the appeal court used its powers to block his party membership and position. What will happen to his ward/local government/state excos. They worked together to stop Obaseki. They have insisted on direct primaries. As it stands are they in any position to direct Anslem Ojezua/Obaseki faction on what to do? What happens to decisions they took up today? Can they still go ahead with their direct primary? Are these excos still relevant or they now have to take orders from the other faction? If Ojezua faction conducts the primaries can Ize Iyamu still get the ticket? |
1 - 1 |
You bribed them, yet they continued. You spoke with them, yet they continued. We were told the people enterred from Niger, Mali, etc, yet they have been operating freely. The president is from that state, yet they do not fear. Resign, yet you have stayed put. We have been told how NIMC has employed over 900 "ex boko haram". We have been threatened that the whole of Nigeria belongs to the Fulanis. The truth is I do not believe the governor and his words are diversionary. Knowing by what we read daily that the leaders in the north benefit financially from the security situation there, the denouncement by the governor may be a strategy to get more money from the FG. Buhari promised to deal ruthlessly with boko haram before 2015 and clean them off the north. In 6 years what has changed? Bandits in the north and from West/Central African are taking advantage of their own person in power to perpetuate their wicked acts. If the president and governor want banditry to end in Katsina state in one month, they know what to do and those to bring onboard. Lies and deceits will not last forever. |
xjiggy:See with another party, all he needs to do is to submit the documents that he has and not include the ones he does not have in all his forms. That's simply all. APC did not abandon him because of documents. The reason given was that he was not a "party man". |
PIMPAR:If Obaseki lost his polling booth and ward to the PDP in 2016 as the APC candidate, does that not simply tell you that it was a PDP controlled area? If he is accepted by the PDP and becomes the candidate is there no real possibility that PDP will win the areas again with the votes going to Obaseki? Simply translated if it is a PDP area APC will lose it. Next do you think that Obaseki has been politically stagnant in 4 years? Politicians know these things. When they sacrifice people speculate and harm each other. APC sacrificed Obaseki because he was "not a party man". Do you think Oshiomole still retains his once huge popularity in the state? Time has changed so many things. If Obaseki chooses to remain in APC he can be a very huge spoiler. PDP is not resting on their backs. They want their state back. This is not Osun state Everyone says it will be very bloody. It means APC will get a run for their money. Realistically Obaseki is not overrated. Rather I think Oshiomole currently overrates himself. If Obaseki performed, the electorate will be behind him for a second term in any other party. |
When aboki hold knife nobody dey safe. Now you carry gun give aboki. What do you expect. Even the aboki wey near am pass na im go first get the result. |
Cutealexio:Ogun state (most industrialized state in Nigeria)? I laugh you there. I am sure Ogun is in the same league with Zamfara. Where has Anambra state gone? Is Ogun more industrialized than Lagos? Aba nko? No let me vex for you bros. |
otunbabms:APC/Oshiomole presented him in 2016 and he won. When PDP went to court APC fought with their last drop of blood to defend the certificate? Is APC not being vindictive and hypocritical now? |
HenryHenry177:What will happen if PDP accepts him and presents his school leaving certificate only? Did APC not keep the president in power in spite of the certificate matter which was glaring to all? Obaseki is not finished my brother. If he leaves governance he will go back to his regular work. |
Iamgrey5:He can simply present his school leaving certificate for now bros. Leave APC and all their hypocrisy. They bypassed all protocols for the president. For how long can rules be made for certain persons only? APC weighed all the available options. They think Ize Iyamu is a better material being a politician. If Obaseki bought the hearts of the electorate - who are expected to vote - then its a big problem for APC. They want someone who answers to the party with all the resources of the state. We have reached a stage in this country were party men should be used by the masses to project the right candidate and not the other way round. That's what happened in the case of Oshiomole himself. The people backed him all the way and he uprooted Anenih. What goes around comes around. Nigerians should wake up and stop the recklessness of political parties and their leaders. In the case of Edo the people who fought against godfathers are the same enabling a godfather to dictate the negative direction of the state. Edo state under Obaseki has moved forward in many areas. I am for good governance. Oshiomole called Ize Iyamu a thief. They have always labelled PDP as a party of looters. Why have they recieved Ize Iyamu from PDP back? They only want to leverage on his followership to get that seat back. They leave the man with the option of defecting. PDP is very solid in Edo state. I bet you gra gra for gra gra APC may lose the state. Oshiomole truly is the undertaker of APC. |
EDOLUWA:Very straight forward, very factual, very correct, well stated. |
