When one hears customs narration of events one is tempted to believe. Unfortunately it is not so. Over the years smuggling has thrived successfully because of the collaboration of customs officers and other security agencies at the borders. The borders are porous not just because of the landmass or inadequate personel but because our security people want it so. Smuggling enriches them and they cannot stop.

The reports of fighting between them and smugglers only arises on one or two occassions when some smugglers refuse to either properly settle or move according to their unwritten agreements with our border patrol.

How is it that our borders have been closed since august last year and we still have petrol and rice been smuggled across the borders?

Truly this country needs strong leadership to become the great country that it should be.

Out of a population of over 200 million how many were tested? Out of the 26,000 how many were tested? Do you not see clearly that there is a rise in cases? How many cases were actually reported too? Let's not deceive ourselves. We need to be very careful. Following the measures put in place continues to be the safest route.

The deputy governor was not chosen by the governor but by forces within the party that ensured that Akeredolu became the governor.

Surely ambition is an inescapable fact in politics and the deputy has rights to his own ambition.

The governor has done what other governors before him did, i.e set the deputy aside.

When Oshiomole introduced Obaseki to us, he said that he was presenting a technocrat. By that he meant that he had found a professional in politics and not a professional politician.

When you have professionals in politics, the society develops or gets better. Politicians win power and expect to use professionals to embezzle or stay in power.

That is not the same in the case of Obaseki. I believe he is a blessing to the great people of Edo state, with his prudent management of state resources.

We are to forget the party and support the individuals that will drive our society forward.
