When we look at events that have been playing out in this country since the Ekiti elections one cannot stop doubting the integrity of our president. We witnessed a new style of vote buying during elections with his party spending more at the polling centers. He looked the other way.
Now he claimed to have written his WAEC exam in 1961 with the late Shehu Yaradua. Why must it be the dead man? Seeing that he attended public schools where we know many pupils attend, are there no surviving classmates who can attest that he attended school with him?
Why did he have to bring the WAEC man to publicly present an attestation to him? The result he claimed to have submitted to the army suddenly cannot be found in the records? For all his attempts to become president he got affidavits. He knew clearly all these while that he was lying under oath. How is he better than Kemi Adeosun and others who presented fake results?
How can one define a liar? At least it is now clear why the cases of Maina and Babachir will not get to court under this government.
The president has some things to hide. Who can probe him? Now he has a political clearance paper. What a shame.
Is looting funds the only standard to measure a man's integrity? Certainly the answer is NO. He assured us that under his watch there no longer will be medical tourism, he promoted it and even his son benefitted.

This is supposed to be an international highway leading to another country. A few years ago you did not have to drive for more than one hour to get to the border. Practically impassable most of the time as it is now and with heaps of refuse all over - Alaba rago is an eyesore. Bad leaders must be voted out. |

agwom: Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday, faulted the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the conduct of the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Tinubu had after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, at the State House Villa, Abuja, said Oshiomhole was on the right path.
But Okorocha after meeting with President Buhari said Tinubu was wrong to have said that Oshiomhole was doing the right thing in the party.
“No, maybe he (Tinubu) is being misinformed; if he is properly informed he will not say what Oshiomhole is doing is the right thing,” Okorocha told State House reporters after the meeting.
Daily Trust reports that Okorocha and two other governors – Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun – are calling for the sack of Oshiomhole over their inability to force their anointed candidates on the party.
Okorocha, who is chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, said the presidency was not behind the conduct of Oshiomhole in states where crisis had taken over after the just concluded primaries.
“I am here to clear the air that the presidency is behind what Oshiomhole is doing in some of the states and which has affected our party negatively; and from my understanding from Mr President, there is no such directive for Oshiomhole to do anything illegal or create any sort of injustice.
“So, Oshiomhole is on his own in this whole thing. There is no presidency’s support for him to refuse candidates who won elections and give wrong candidates who didn’t win elections,” he said.

vamwolf: Former Presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, has been named as the running mate of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Leke Shittu, ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Former Governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has been equally named as the candidate for Ogun East Senatorial district.
This followed acceptance of the candidates’ list of the PDP faction backed by the Senator representing Ogun East, Buruji Kashamu, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Abati and Daniel’s choice was contained in a statement personally signed by Kashamu, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday, by his media aide, Austin Oniyokor.
He asked the public to disregard the statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan that INEC acted against the rule that only the national leadership of a party can submit candidates’ list to INEC.
He vowed that “this resolve to act with unchecked impunity shall be fully resisted in a fight to finish battle to strengthen our party’s internal democracy.”
The statement read: “Ignorantly, the National Chairman is unaware that where there is dispute resulting into a judicial resolution as in Ogun state matter, the State Chairman and Secretary could sign in place of National Chairman and Secretary when backed by validly subsisting court judgements. Whatever makes our National Chairman to be this resolute at challenging the constituted electoral regulatory body, INEC and also dwelling in nauseating impunity against Nigerian court judgements out of unexplainable desperation to install Ladi Adebutu as PDP Ogun governorship candidate should as well have forced him to create his own INEC and conduct elections inside his office.

Jerri7: The Ekiti State Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Ayodeji Daramola, has called on Governor Kayode Fayemi to redesign the new Court Complex constructed by former Governor Ayodele Fayose within the Ado Ekiti High Court in a manner that will conform with the one that can be used for judicial purposes.
Justice Daramola succinctly described the new state High Court complex commissioned by Fayose in May 2018 as “a hybrid of absurdity”, which he said made it difficult for the judiciary to make use of the edifice named after the first Chief Judge of Ekiti State and now a king of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday at a special court sitting to mark the commencement of the 2018/2019 Legal Year, the CJ called on Fayemi to reconstruct the new High Court complex for smooth conduct of judicial process in the state.
He said: “Since the creation of Ekiti State on 1st October, 1996, the Judiciary has suffered acute shortage of court halls and office accommodation.
“It is thanks to Mr. Ayodele Fayose’s administration that the problem is largely solved now with the construction of the Justice Ademola Ajakaiye House.
"As laudable as the new building is, it is still in a way, a hybrid of absurdity. In its present state, it can’t properly and comfortably function as court house as it was not properly designed for that purpose nor was it designed for administrative purposes. That of course is why we have not been able to put it into use since that building was commissioned earlier in the month of May this year.
“Our appeal now goes to the current administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi to come to our rescue in reconstructing the interior of the new building to enable us put it into appropriate use.”

Only Okorocha can tell Imolites and Nigerians in general why he is hell bent on installing his son in law as the next governor of Imo state. I thought we had moved away from godfatherism in Nigeria but with the likes of Okorocha there is a big problem. What did he plant inside the government house that only his son in law care take care of when he leaves?
When Anthony Oyegun in his wisdom and foresight suggested that the APC should shift their congresses until a safer time to ensure more stability with the party, Okorocha and his likes cried blue murder. Today we are witnesses to the systematical disintergration of the APC. The party was formed with plenty of lies in its foundation and today those who have properties, legs, hands, etc are beginning to request for their possessions so that they can walk away after suffering severe investment losses.
Okorocha started this particular political dispensation in 1999 joining the then APP which became ANPP. He campaigned under the false pretense of being a philantropist. He moved from ANPP to ACTION ALLIANCE and then to PDP, then to APGA and then APC. The way it stands today he is the political loser. He may have all the money he needs to live 20 lives all over but he has shown himself as politically unwise. Unfortunately he could not "do the arithmetic and read the political barometer" - borrowing the words of the respected late Chuba Okadigbo. In Imo state he is speedily looking like an isolated man, losing support and supporters daily. How far can his money carry him?
Now that he has threatened to dump the APC if his son in law does not get the ticket, what will be his option? There are no such vacant positions in any of the political parties any more - INEC deadline passed already. No wise party will accept him.
His option will be to form his own political party. Since he is the apostle of Iberiberism, I expect him to form a new political party called IBERIBE people's party of Nigeria (IPPN) where he can do all his likes and assert as much control as he wants. The logo should be his image with his famous mantle around his neck. |

Why it matters: This would be the most dramatic move yet in Trump's hardline immigration campaign, this time targeting "anchor babies" and "chain migration." And it will set off another stand-off with the courts, as Trump’s power to do this through executive action is debatable to say the least.
Trump told "Axios on HBO" that he has run the idea of ending birthright citizenship by his counsel and plans to proceed with the highly controversial move, which certainly will face legal challenges.
"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said, declaring he can do it by executive order.
When told that's very much in dispute, Trump replied: "You can definitely do it with an Act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order."
"We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits," Trump continued. "It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end." "It's in the process. It'll happen ... with an executive order."
The president expressed surprise that "Axios on HBO" knew about his secret plan: "I didn't think anybody knew that but me. I thought I was the only one. "
Behind the scenes: "Axios on HBO" had been working for weeks on a story on Trump’s plans for birthright citizenship, based on conversations with several sources, including one close to the White House Counsel’s office.
The legal challenges would force the courts to decide on a constitutional debate over the 14th Amendment, which says:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
Be smart: Few immigration and constitutional scholars believe it is within the president's power to change birthright citizenship, former U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services chief counsel Lynden Melmed tells Axios.
But some conservatives have argued that the 14th Amendment was only intended to provide citizenship to children born in the U.S. to lawful permanent residents — not to unauthorized immigrants or those on temporary visas. John Eastman, a constitutional scholar and director of Chapman University's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, told "Axios on HBO" that the Constitution has been misapplied over the past 40 or so years.
He says the line "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" originally referred to people with full, political allegiance to the U.S. — green card holders and citizens.
Michael Anton, a former national security official in the Trump administration, recently took up this argument in the Washington Post.
Anton said that Trump could, via executive order, "specify to federal agencies that the children of noncitizens are not citizens" simply because they were born on U.S. soil. (It’s not yet clear whether Trump will take this maximalist argument, though his previous rhetoric suggests there’s a good chance.)
But others — such as Judge James C. Ho, who was appointed by Trump to Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, in New Orleans — say the line in the amendment refers to the legal obligation to follow U.S. laws, which applies to all foreign visitors (except diplomats) and immigrants.

It was jubilation in Abia North and Abia South senatorial districts, yesterday, when the names of former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and that of Chief Marc Wabara, made the list of the National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), of those cleared to contest the 2019 senatorial election in the state.
An aide to the former governor, Dr. Madukwe Ukaegbu had, in response to a rumour making the rounda about their candidacy, said “Kalu was returned unopposed in Abia North senatorial district; nobody contested it with him.
“So, it will be foolhardy for anybody to say that he was not cleared or not given the ticket by his party to contest the coming election. This is politics quite alright but, people must be very careful of how they go about spreading fake news.”
Regardless, when Daily Sun visited INEC offices in Abia North and Abia South, Kalu and Wabara’s names were on the lists of those cleared to contest for the senate seats.
At the offices visited, supporters of Kalu and Wabara were seen in jubilation mood as they relayed their discontent over the rumour and vowed to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the next elections in the state.
“Going through the INEC list, to see the names of Kalu and Wabara who were rumoured not to have been cleared by our party, has given us a huge sigh of relief because we have been in unhappy mood since the fake news broke out”, one of Kalu’s supporters, who declined to be named, said.
Speaking on the development, Wabara described those who were spreading the fake news as “mischief makers” who are afraid of their rising profile.
He promised to work closely with Kalu and other leaders of the party in the state, to ensure that APC wins Abia in 2019.

The National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the death of Ex-minister of works and ranking PDP chieftain, Tony Anenih.
Anenih died on Sunday evening at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
In a statement to the Press, Tinubu stated: “Chief Anenih was a foremost politician and elder-stateman. He was resolutely committed to the unity and cohesion of this country. He worked for the upliftment of his Uromi hometown and Edo State, as he worked for the growth and development of Nigeria.
“A politician of immense repute. He gave so much to party politics and democracy in the country.
“As one of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he played a key role in the country’s resurgent democracy. It was no surprise that he later emerged the Chairman, Board of Trustees of PDP.
“Our path crossed in the Social Democratic Party where he was our national chairman. I recall that he was an energetic politician who played politics with all that he was imbued with."
“I commiserate with his family. I pray that they find the strength and courage to live without their patriarch. I also commiserate with Governor Godwin Obaseki and the government and people of Edo State.”

Nwaforj44: The Buhari Media Organization (BMO) is mocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for claiming that former President Goodluck Jonathan financed the Port Harcourt airport.
“We wondered how the party could even claimed that the PDP administration financed a project that the Chinese through the China EXIM bank provided a loan of $500 million to cover three other airports in Lagos, Abuja and Kano.
The group dismissed claims by PDP on the Port Harcourt airport project as an attempt to water down the achievements of the President Muhammad Buhari administration.
The opposition party had not only claimed credit for its completion but said the project was conceptualized and financed by the Jonathan administration
BMO said in a statement by its chairman Niyi Akinsiju and secretary Cassidy Madueke in Abuja that PDP’s position was laughable.
“It is not even a surprise because here is a party that has no qualms about twisting tales to suit its false narratives.
“This is a project that was only 30% completed at the time President Buhari assumed office in May 2015, it noted.’’
The group also found it amusing that whenever President Buhari completes abandoned projects or those left at low level of completion, the PDP would rush to issue press statements deriding the administration’s effort.
BMO noted that “if it is a ploy to deflect attention then the opposition party has only exposed itself to ridicule’’.
This is because the APC-led administration of President Buhari would continue to complete all projects left at various stages of completion

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ovie Omo-Agege has vowed that members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will resist any gang-up against the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Following the recent APC primary elections across the federation, some aggrieved members of the party have reportedly demanded the resignation of Oshiomhole and have started a search for his replacement.
Reacting to the move, Omo-Agege said that he and other members of the party would resist any attempt to remove Oshiomhole.
Speaking with Vanguard, yesterday, the lawmaker insisted that the APC National Chairman enjoys the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Omo-Agege, “I am not aware of any move to replace Oshiomhole and to the extent that there is any such move, it will fail. It will fail because I know that Oshiomhole enjoys the confidence of Mr. President, he enjoys the confidence of who is who in the Presidency.
“Yes, there are lots of agitations and allegations flowing from the primaries. You will imagine that as a family that there are bound to be problems after the primary, it is the ability of the party to address the post-primary challenges that make it strong or otherwise.
“I know that a reconciliation committee is about to be put in place and leaders are going to reach out to those who are aggrieved, but I can tell you there is no legitimate move to go after Oshiomohle’s seat.
“I repeat, to the extent that it is being contemplated, we will resist it and it will fail. We are talking seriously and you are talking about people who do not matter in the party. For the major stakeholders, there is nothing like that, we are satisfied with the stewardship of Comrade Oshiomhole.
“As I said earlier, yes there is bound to be agitation in every primary, it does not matter who is superintending over the primary, even if you bring an angel to conduct it, there will still be challenges, once again, it is the ability of Oshiomhole to rise above the post-primary challenges and addresses it that matters.

PrettyCrystal: A man was found unconscious after taking cover in a wardrobe for almost five days following the crisis in Kaduna which saw many dead and others injured.
It was gathered that the man identified as Umar hid in a wardrobe since Sunday when the riot started and was rescued on Thursday after staying days there without food or even seeing daylight.
He was handed over to the security after he regained his consciousness.

I picked him up, he was helpless and looking weak, he could not walk. After regaining his consciousness and strength I called Alhaji Hassan a Fulani man who is a business man in SABO metropolis who identify him and I handed him over to the security.
Theirs every need to live in peace with one another and to make Nigeria a better place for me and you. 12Ebisco: Over 24 hours after he was granted bail by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose is yet to regain his freedom.
LEADERSHIPFriday investigation revealed that the embattled former governor was yet to perfect his bail conditions.
According to one of the court officials, who does not want his name mentioned, the verification of the N50 million bond, which is one of the bail conditions, was yet to be done.
The source informed our correspondent that although the former governor has met other bail conditions, he cannot go home until the bail bonds are verified by the court registrar as ordered by the court.
It will be recalled that the judge granted Fayose bail in the sum of N50 million with two sureties in like sum.
The former governor, who is standing trial before the court on an 11-count charge of laundering the sum of N6.9 billion, was also ordered by the judge that his two sureties must issue a N50 million bond from a reputable bank as well as possess three years tax clearance.
The court further ordered that the former governor must deposit his travelling passport with the court and must not travel outside the court’s jurisdiction during the proceedings without the court’s permission.
But as at 4:00pm on Thursday when the court was closed for the day, some family members, political associates and aides, including, Fayose’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka were seen leaving the court premises disappointed.
They had stormed the court as early as 9:00am, hoping that Fayose’s lawyer would be able to perfect the bail conditions.
Effort to seek Olayinka’s reaction to the development was not successful, as he refused to talk to our correspondent.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Fayose before the court alongside his company, Spotless Limited and one Abiodun Agbele for money laundering and fraud.
The commission accused the former governor of taking possession of the sum of N1.2 billion on June 17, 2014 for purposes of funding his gubernatorial election campaign in Ekiti State, which sum they reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.
The EFCC also alleged that Fayose received a cash payment of the sum of five million dollars, (about N1.8 billion) from the then Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, without going through any financial institution and which sum exceeded the amount allowed by law.
The commission further claimed that the accused persons allegedly retained the sum of N300 million in his Zenith Bank account and took control of the aggregate sums of about N622 million which sum he ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.
Fayose was alleged to have procured De Privateer Ltd and Still Earth Ltd, to retain in their Zenith and FCMB accounts, the aggregate sums of N851 million which they reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.
The accused persons was also alleged to have used the aggregate sums of about N1.6 billion to acquire properties in Lagos and Abuja, which sums he reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.
The accused was also alleged to have used the sum of N200 million, to acquire a property in Abuja, in the name of his elder sister Moji Oladeji, which sum he ought to know also forms crime proceeds.
The offences contravenes the provisions of sections 15(1), 15 (2), 15 (3), 16(2)(b), 16 (d), and 18 (c) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2011
Fayose, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
