He was Governor on that platform for 8 years, he has been involved in the party at all levels for 16 years and you that is only a foot soldier to Atiku is trying to dispute him. Does it make any sense to you? Sorry brother I am not a foot soldier to Atiku/Buhari or any of them. Are you a foot soldier of any of them? After so many years in the PDP he has come to the realisation that no one running on the platform of the PDP can make a good president. What gives you the confidence that he can make a good president on the platform of the SDP? If you cannot question leadership how can you have a better country? Or do you think it is improper to hold them all accountable? |

The former governor of Akwa Ibom state and former senate minority leader under the PDP, Senator Godswill Akpabio stated that he did not defect to the APC but rather moved.
Each time our politicians switch political parties they claim to either defect or cross carpet. 'Move' is another word added to the list of words when they switch. Akpabio has introduced it.
What readily comes to mind is what the diference is when one changes his/her political party. They are accepted by the new party and get their membership cards indicating their political affiliation, which makes them members.
Who is Akpabio trying to deceive? Whether he moved or cross carpeted or defected it still remains what it is - switching.
By the way is he trying to send a message to both the APC and the PDP? Is he truly trying to avoid prosecution as they say? Has he tactically reminded the APC that when they lose he will return to the PDP? Also is he trying to ask the PDP to keep a space for him in anticipation of a future return?
Hopefully he would not have totally ruined PDP chances in Akwa Ibom before returning. |

higherpower: The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Donald Duke, has said the corruption in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not allow any candidate who emerges president from the party to perform.
He said a candidate’s good intentions were not enough to help them perform under the PDP should they win the ticket of the party.
Duke, who was the Governor of Cross Rivers state under the PDP, spoke in Lagos on Thursday.
“Even if I emerge the PDP presidential candidate and win the election, the huge baggage the party carries will not allow me to do well.
“The corruption is huge. You need to be completely unshackled to perform amidst such obstacles without being pulled down,” he said.
He emphasised that his statement was not made out of the intention to score political point but a fact he knew being a former member of the party.

Can he tell us which candidate or which party will do the job? Akwa Ibom remains a very solid stronghold of the PDP, irrespective of what you presently witness. There are others around the corner waiting to take over. Noteworthy also is the fact that PDP is more stable than the APC nationwide. If you take a look at APC you will see that just like it happened to PDP in 2014/2015, the APC is fast disintegrating. The Igbo speaking tribes in Nigeria are spread into Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta North and parts of Rivers state. I just want to narrow my question to the five principal states already mentioned and focus on roads only. Which of them has the best network of roads? Enugu has for several years enjoyed the advantage. But have you been to Ebonyi state lately? Umahi seems to be doing a fantastic job. In Anambra state, Ngige's administration seemed to have triggered the revolution and Peter Obi administration took giant strides thereafter. Today under Willie Obiano, Anambra state has massively opened with fantastic road networks all over the state. Imo state has no serious roads to show except 'Rochas is working' here are there. Abia is a complete disgrace. What is your opinion if you are from any of these states? |

Governor Okowa gave the assurance (13/11/18) while interacting with members of the Super Eagles after watching them train at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
According to the governor who watched the training with some members of the state executive council, "we are truly excited as a state to have you train at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, we are glad that you are in Asaba and from what we can see, this is a team for today and the future."
"The fact that you are leaving Asaba for South Africa; we are sure you will get victory; you are doing very well and we welcome you to Asaba; as a state government, we will contribute to what you are going to do out there in South Africa, for every goal, we are going to give you $25, 000," the governor said.
He continued, "when you are back we are also going to host you here in Asaba, we want you to stay strong and success will be yours, because, we are a praying state and we are confident that you are going to South Africa to get a lot of goals; continue to work hard, you are on a national assignment, a call to service and you will succeed."

Udantu: The Kano state house of assembly has stopped investigating allegations that Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, collected bribe from contractors.
This is in line with a court order. A group known as Lawyers For Sustainable Democracy in Nigeria, had asked the court to compel the assembly to halt the probe.
Ruling on an ex parte application filed by one Muhammad Zubair, national coordinator of the group, A.T Badamasi, a judge, had asked the lawmakers to suspend the probe.
But the assembly vowed not to comply with the order.
Baffa Dan-Agundi, chairman of the committee investigating the issue, had said the court order did not stop the panel from continuing with the investigation.
“We have received a court order that we should stop investigating the video clips showing Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, allegedly collecting bribe,” he said.
“We had a meeting today at the assembly and according to our understanding; the court didn’t stop us from investigating the allegations; the court only said status quo be maintained. As such, we will continue with our work.”
But making a U-turn on Monday, Dan-Agundi told the court that the assembly is a law-abiding arm of government, hence, it would obey the court and suspend all forms of investigation on the case pending the court judgement.
While adjourning the hearing on the matter to Wednesday, Badamasi urged the committee to desist from inviting, questioning, interviewing, examining any person related to the issue.
He also instructed the investigative committee to stop any form of analysis on the bribery videos.
The committee had invited Ganduje, who failed to appear but sent one of his commissioners and Jafar Jafar, publisher of Daily Nigerian, the online platform which leaked the videos.
One of the contractors who levelled allegations against the governor had also agreed to testify at the assembly https://www.thecable.ng/kano-assembly-bows-to-pressure-suspends-probe-of-ganduje/ We expected this from APC. A party of so called 'saints'. How can APC/Ganduje/Kano assembly prove their innocence to us? If the governor was not the one in the videl why did he fail to appear before the assembly personally? The so called Mohammed Zubair possibly could have been An agent of the governor. The court had no right interfering with legislative matters. APC can honestly not prove that it is a better party than the PDP. Truly corruption was, is and will always be a one sided battle by Buhari/APC. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Lists Conditions For Restructuring by Cantonese: 6:09pm On Nov 13, 2018 |
motunrayo766: President Muhammadu Buhari has given conditions under which he could consider restructuring.
The president gave the conditions during an interactive session with Nigerians based in France.
Buhari met with them after the Peace Forum attended by over 50 world leaders.
The president said there should be proper definition of what Nigerians want before the government can delve into restructuring.
“There are too many people talking lazily about restructuring in Nigeria. Unfortunately, people are not asking them individually what do they mean by restructuring? What form do they want restructuring to take?” he said.
“Do they want us to have something like the three regions we used to have? And now we have 36 states and the FCT. What form do they want? They are just talking loosely about restructuring.
“Let them define it and then we see how we can peacefully do it in the interest of Nigerians.
“They are just saying they want Nigeria restructured and they don’t have the clue of what the form the restructuring should be. So, anybody who talks to you about restructuring in Nigeria, ask him what he means and the form he wants it to take.”
Restructuring can be seen as the cornerstone of the campaign of Atiku Abubakar, Buhari’s main opponent in the 2019 general election.
SOURCE: http://www.nigerianeye.com/2018/11/buhari-lists-conditions-for.html But restructuring was one of the campaign points of Buhari and APC before 2015. Is he now telling us that he did not know what form it should take before campaigning to be president? This further drives home that fact that the APC promises were mere lies tailored to achieve power. They won power at the center and did not know what to do. Today Fashola apologized and demanded for 3 more years. But he clearly campaigned the promise of electricity in 6 months. Today the story has changed again. With so much poverty as never experienced before, even under the so called corrupt Jonathan, Nigeria never had it so bad. Even now Nigeria has the inglorious name of the poverty capital of the world. With such leaders what hope does Nigeria have? |

Yesterday the governorship candidate of APC for 2019 Imo state elections was arrested on his touch down at the airport. He and his company stand accused of fraudulently collecting the sum $12 million contracted to them for dredging in Calabar. The contract has not been executed. After several notifications the man failed to appear before the court and the magistrate ordered his arrest.
The major cause of water over flooding its banks in communities around river Niger during the raining season is the failure of government to dredge that river. Dredging of the river will allow water follow its course and communities will be safe during the raining season. With this kind of fraud going on without abate in this country what is the hope of these communities? Ironically many of these leaders come from these communities.
APC has claimed to be a party of "honest" men. A very "honest president" and now this very "honest" governorship candidate. When will all these end in this country? With this arrest if APC claims to be what they claim to be then that Hope Uzodimma should be stopped from getting to government house Owerri as the next governor. It is fraud and looting galore with this APC party. Oshiomole accused of fraud. Practically every leader in the APC accused of one fraud or the other. What makes that party better than the PDP?
Please take us back to 2009 as you said recently. At least in 2009 food was far cheaper. No kidnappers, far less violence, fuel was cheaper, relative peace in the land, life was far better. |

sureheaven: CAN........ Criminals association of Nigeria.
I’m a Christian but I hate the nonsense being exhibited by this group of charlatans who claim to be representing Christians.
Since the existence of CAN in Nigeria, there has been nothing tangible that can be linked to the association except participating in politics. Those who brought missionaries/Christianity to Nigeria built schools and hospitals from the token that was available to them in those days. But our own can with billions of naira are good only at buying exotic properties in choice places.
I’ve been waiting to hear CAN builds schools and hospital that are of world standard, I’ve been waiting to hear CAN write proposals to the federal government that will benefit the masses, I’ve been waiting to hear CAN write the National Assembly on bills sent by them for approvals but for where, all they do is play politics.
The day their CAN of worms will be opened, it will be a great shame on them. You are too quick to speak my brother. Sincerely how do you expect CAN to be non partisan in this kind of country where we live? CAN and Islamic organisations have been among other groups demanding accountability from government. Government listens to them because government knows they possess the powers to cause change. On the side of schools and education have you heard the following names? 1. Methodist boys high school founded in 1878. 2. Methodist girls high school 3. CMS grammar school 4. Jumuratul Islamiyya 5. Saint Finbarrs 6. Saint Gregory's 7. Gasikiyya College 8. Marywood grammar school 10. Holy child The above schools where founded by the missionaries starting from the 19th century. They still exist. In our contemporary time schools have been established by catholic priest like Saint Francis founded by the late reverend father Francis Cusimano in Lagos in 1990. It is one of the biggest schools in Lagos today. The problem is not with the missionaries or CAN but with the politicians and elite who politicise everything, take undue advantage and make illegal money. Where you very young when missionary schools where seized by government in 1980? Have you ever heard of Jakande schools? Please ask an elder who knows history around you to tell you what happened. |

Mysteryque: “I am doing my best now to utilize our resources to develop the country. We are already getting results on road, rail and power.
“My frustration is that some people still have plenty stolen money stashed in Europe, U S and other countries”, said president Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr President said this during an interactive session with the Nigerian community in Paris. Buhari equally reiterated his commitment towards developing the educational sector.
He assured Nigerians to expect more investment in the sector, noting that allocations to the educational sector will be improved as revenue increases, describing the sector as a major engine for the development of any country.
“We are currently reviewing investments in the entire infrastructure of the country like road, rail and power, including investing more in education. We will certainly need to do more in education,’’ he said.
President Buhari enjoined Nigerian elites, both at home and diaspora, to do more in contributing to the educational sector of the country, expressing surprise that the elites tolerated the fall in standards and structures of educational institutions despite oil windfalls in the past that would have made all the difference.
“I am doing my best now to utilize our resources to develop the country,’’ he said. “ We are already getting results on road, rail and power. My frustration is that some people still have plenty stolen money stashed in Europe, U S and other countries.’’
President Buhari said return of stolen assets in some safe heavens will bolster the administration’s current effort of investing more in critical infrastructure that directly impact on the livelihood of Nigerians.
The President said the war against terrorism will be reinforced with new weapons and hardware for the military, while the challenge of abduction and kidnapping in some parts of the country will receive more attention with better gathering of intelligence.
“We campaigned on three key issues; security, improving the economy, and fighting corruption, and we have not been controverted by anyone that we have not recorded some results,’’ he added.
On Nigerians in diaspora participating in elections, the President said the population of citizens in various countries across the world already necessitate their inclusion to elect leaders, noting that it might not happen in the 2019 elections as INEC had been more focused on strengthening and consolidating on its achievements of conducting credible elections within the country.
The President said it could happen in future.
He added that the Nigerian constitution had taken into cognizance the need for representation in the political structures in order to ensure harmony and development, urging more people to pick interest in governance and quality representation.
In her remarks, Nigerian Ambassador to France, Dr. Modupe Enitan Irele, said the Nigerian community in France had demonstrated high sense of responsibility, dedication and morality, adding that the large number of professionals had been encouraged to also contribute to the country’s development.
“Nigerians here are law abiding, peaceful and resourceful,’’ she said.
Dr. Irele said President Buhari’s commitment to change will make Nigeria the envy of other African countries.
The Nigerians in diaspora, who participated in the meeting, raised questions on education, inclusive elections, security infrastructure and the economy.
Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, recently nominated Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Diaspora Commission, facilitated the meeting that was attended by Governor Willie Obiano, Aminu Masari and John Kayode Fayemi, of Anambra, Katsina and Ekiti states, and top government functionaries. Politics › Re: Peter Obi: El-rufai Should Take A Look In The Mirror – Ex-can Secretary by Cantonese: 7:50pm On Nov 12, 2018 |
kenechukwufrank: PETER OBI: EL-RUFAI SHOULD TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR – Ex-CAN Secretary A former Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) secretary, Kaduna State Chapter, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, has accused Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of consistently insulting or denigrating some individuals or group of people since he became governor.
Hayab was reacting to Governor El-Rufai’s recent tweet accusing former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi of being a tribal bigot.
Obi is the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2019 presidential elections.
Since El-Rufai’s tweet, loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been using social media to push the narrative.
In a statement sent to Anaedoonline on Sunday, November 11, Hayab said the tweet by El-Rufai clearly shows that the Kaduna governor needs to go and look at himself in the mirror.
El-Rufai has in the past being accused of making divisive statements when his party, the APC, was in opposition.
Part of the statement read: “It seems that Governor El-Rufai takes pleasure in making bad and inciting comments about others but unable to reason that his leadership style is worse than that of those he is quick to accuse.
“When some Christian leaders years back complained about how he made a mockery of Jesus on his Twitter page, it seemed then that they deliberately accused him of such recklessness for political reasons, but little did we realize that such inflammatory comments were El-Rufai’s trademarks.
“For instance, since El-Rufai became Governor of Kaduna State, many of his utterances have been either to insult or denigrate some individuals or group of people. In fact, his recent tweet accusing Mr. Peter Obi of being a tribal bigot clearly shows that the governor needs to go and look at himself in the mirror.
“Although, I am not from south-east Nigeria, but a visit to Awka and meeting people on the streets of Onitsha shows that the man El-Rufai wants Nigerians to believe is a bigot led Anambra State with an exemplary leadership style of tolerance and the promotion of peaceful coexistence unlike El-Rufai, who has polarised Kaduna State with divisive actions and inciting utterances.”
The former CAN secretary advised the governor to quit issuing divisive and distractive statements and actions. He also advised the governor to focus more on his duties as a leader of the state and stop poke-nosing into affairs that have little or no link to the administration of Kaduna State.
“We demand that Governor El-Rufai should concentrate on making Kaduna State peaceful and prosperous by delivering fair, unbiased, and equitable leadership, rather than being at war with almost everyone, who holds a differing view from his.
“The undeniable truth is that the governor’s actions and utterances about people and situations both in the state and elsewhere have further impaired the peace we once enjoyed in Kaduna.
“Going by what one of the governor’s former bosses once said, it is now glaring how El-Rufai’s temperament and maturity to lead at any level should be questioned.

With so many divisive words from the likes of El Rufai one wonders how he won the governorship election in the first place. How easily that man keeps forgetting those who helped him climb the ladder just like Garba Shehu? PDP made him and Garba Shehu. Without Atiku he probably would not have exceeded the level of a permanent secretary in a ministry. How did he repay? With wickedness. Where did he find the mouth to call Peter Obi a bigot? How can the pot call the kettle black. With his notoriously evil words and actions in his state who is the bigot between him and Peter Obi? If El Rufai ever returns to the PDP shame on him. If he goes to Kaduna christians to ask for votes, shame on him. If he ever asks women for votes, shame on him. On a very happy note I am very certain that with his own broom he will be swept away in 2019. |

TedExNairaland: In continuation from my last week thread (https://www.nairaland.com/4825225/appreciating-serenity-greenery-city-enugu#72649974) to showcase Nigerian capital cities. This week on this thread, I will be showcasing the city of Owerri. Owerri is a city I love so much. I intend to show how the city has grown over the years through individual real estate development, in addition to little government effort through road construction and expansion, and provision of other socio amenities. Let's enjoy.
Photos: Courtesy Ckenneths, iamhorny &Abagworo Show us images of Douglas road and the surrounding areas. Political images are meant for blind and bewitched people. Show us the entry areas to Owerri at the approaching the cathedral. Is development localised to Owerri and Orlu? Which other areas were developed in the last 7 years? Show us the images of those areas too. |

Politics › Re: Okorocha Calls For The Arrest Of Oshiomole by Cantonese: 6:14pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
Kanixt: Okorocha calls for the arrest of Oshiomole vanguardngr.com Nov 10, 2018 4:45 PM By Chinonso Alozie Owerri – The Governor Rochas Okorocha’s preferred successor, Uche Nwosu’s campaign Director, Chidi Ibe Saturday called for the arrest of National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Adams Oshiomole.
Ibe was reacting to newsmen in Owerri, on the report that Senator Hope Uzodimma’s name had been published as the authentic governorship candidate of the 2019 APC, guber candidate.
Recall that Uzodimma’s name was lately published in the night on Friday, hours after other names of governorship candidates in Imo state, of the various political parties were published by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were displayed.
Nwosu through his Director General of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu campaign Organization, Chidi Ibe, described it as a rumour and demanded for the arrest of those behind the event that led to the display of Uzodimma’s name.
According to Ibe, “I am briefing you as partners of progress to brief you as those in the process of making this country better. I want to tell you that Nwosu is our candidate and our candidate of the election that will come up soon.
“This is against the rumour that is making round that Nwosu will leave the party, what Uzodimma and his supporters are doing.
“They cannot truncate the mandate given to Nwosu. We will do everything possible to stop them from taking away the mandate of the Imo people given to Nwosu.”
He recalled that, “Remember Gulark briefed us that the election will hold the next day and by 4am, Gulark absconded and went to Abuja, and announced the result, which the National chairman disbanded and another committee was set up.
“The NWC, set up another committee and at the end of the Ibrahim Agbabiaka governorship primaries, the NWC, upheld the results which Nwosu was declared as the winner.
“As a member of APC, we want to tell you that our principal has not chicken out and we have not seen any reason why an individual should come and truncate the ambition of a young man. Nwosu has not left APC, and will never leave APC. A non card carrying member cannot come and win the candidate of our party.”
In the thinking of Nwosu, “The National chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, had not told us his interest in Imo state, Oshiomole’s interest cannot jeopardize the interest of the people of Imo state. The voice of the national chairman cannot end the mandate of the people. Infact him and Gulark should be arrested for what is happening in Imo.
“We cannot watch someone who has no structure to come and jeopardize the interest of the people of Imo state. We had a primary election and Imo people came out and voted for Nwosu and we should ask where is the result of that election.
“What Imo people need is someone who has the capacity to continue the developmental projects in Imo state. We cannot watch somebody whose life has been characterized with fraud to come and take over our mandate.
“We want to know why somebody should contest the senatorial election and also contest the the governorship election and we say that we have a constitution. We want the president to address this situation"
Vanguardngr. com So who told the lie between Uche Ugwumba's media team, INEC and Oshiomole? Where was the media team if Ugwumba when Oshiomole announced publicly the Uzodimma's name would be forwarded to INEC? Must Uche Ugwumba become the governor of Imo state? If he is not recognised is it not enough evidence that Okorocha does not possess the power that he claims to have? The clear liar is the Ugwumba group and the are living in a fools paradise. |
