A Nigerian lady on Instagram @abuse_survivor has taken to her Instagram page to reveal how she managed to prevent justice justice in her neighborhood in Uyo. At a point, they started saying I am a relative of the thieves for not wanting them to carry out jungle justice. I was able to prevent the lynching before the SARS came to pick them up. A Nigerian lady, Ozzy Etomi has sparked up a debate on Twitter on whether husbands should pay their stay at home wives salary. She also listed the reasons why she thinks husbands should pay their wives salary and even suggested they have a pension plan. Read her reasons below; "Husband is away, Nanny had an emergency, had to work from home today while handling an extremely precocious 10 month old. I'd pick going to work over staying in with a baby/toddler all day. Stay at home mom's dont get enough appreciation, admiration or respect. PAY YOUR WIVES. I truly believe stay at home mothers should earn a salary, paid by their husbands. I dont want to start another twitter war, so instead I will write an article about this because I can ignore medium comments I also believe they should insist on pension payments. Why? Because more often than not, the exchange that is meant to be occurring is that husbands are "working for the family", while the woman is manning the domestic/childcare homefront. But the reality, especially in Africa is that husbands are working for themselves. Wives hardly ever have unmonitored & unrestricted access to the man's earnings. A lot of us get to enjoy the "trappings" without actually being in control of any considerable assets. You enjoy benevolent gifts & ppl say "you're lucky your husband is generous". But in truth it is not generosity. It is YOUR money too. That is the agreement. The wealth gap never closes because as husbands get richer, wives do not get richer. Stay at home wives do not get their monthly share of their husbands salary as theirs to keep/ save/ invest. A lot of women with wealthy husbands get tickets bought, houses to stay in, clothes & expensive gifts, and "spending money". But most times do not have 2 cents to rub together without their husbands despite working together to build up the family for years. It is HIS money. Thennnnn after years of being married, that nigga dies and lives everything to the kids. And then the cycle starts over with your children handing you pocket money. I've already said too much. Men, pay your wives sha. Build up her wealth too. Let her have a retirement plan. It's not a curse to stay home and take care of kids, women shouldn't have to suffer for it. Alright some of you dumb mf's already in my comments saying "so you want to be paid to take care of your child?" No, Dufus. When a woman commits to being a stay at home wife, she is manning the home front while you are leaving for considerable hours to earn money for the family.. When she does that, she is still using many considerable skills to keep the home organized, the house finances straight, making sure the kids are good, keeping staff in line, etc. She is doing a LOT OF WORK which is essentially unpaid labor. You on the other hand are doing a lot of work which you are freed up to do because you dont have to worry about your home or your kids. When you bring home your share aka the finances. It is for you & your wife & kids. Not yours to mete out as you see fit. Your wife, being someone who is at home, is not EARNING AN INCOME. Therefore if youre income isnt shared fairly with her, she is essentially living a life of poverty only offset by your 'generosity' and those are the men who even bother giving their wives an 'allowance'. In a good % of this situation, women make money off skimming off the top of household expenses they have to inflate just to get extra money. Which is why when couples break up after years of marriage, or when a man dies, their wives can barely afford to take care of the kids. Your wife deserves her fair share of your salary. Choosing to focus on the home/kids shouldn't result in financial exclusion for women as it often does. Suggest to me then other ways in which a full time stay at home mother can grow wealth, have investments and savings? I have seen too often in many ppls situations how the household budget doesn't include the wife. Everyone gets taken into consideration except her. There is money for kids. Money for feeding. Money for house expenses. Staff gets paid. But the woman is doing/supervising the cooking, shopping, managing, organizing, caring, etc, working herself to the bone exhausted every day for FREE, and the general sentiment is "what do you need YOUR own separate money for, everything is paid for" like she isn't her own person Man, whatever, examine the lives of many couples around you and you know what i'm saying is true. Men spend the family money whenever and however they please with little or no permission. "Oh i feel like a new watch"..BAM! But you see women strategizing how best to ask/request money for their husbands especially when it is something that is simply for them and not tied to household or kids. Thesis & speeches justifying the spend. Its such a scam. Financial abuse is real and prevalent in marriages when one person has the financial power. Stay mad & ignorant if you want, but it simply is what it is." Culled from; https://www.torimill.com/2018/05/8133.html

Gerald Dzer from Benue State passed away on May 1, 2018 just two days after his first wedding anniversary. Late Gerald and his wife Rita got married on April 29th, 2017 in Makurdi, Benue State capital. They welcomed a baby boy months later. According to his friend and brother-in-law, Ben Dzwa, he had been battling with undisclosed illness. Gerald will be laid to rest on Thursday, 10th May, 2018 at Tse-Dzer, Mbakutem, Yaav, Turan in Kwande LGA, Benue State. Read the tribute by Ben; "I was in Lessel on a Friday evening for a State Executive Council meeting of YOWICAN Benue State Chapter when he called that he wanted to see me the next day. I agreed that I will see him on arrival the next day in the morning at 8am. I arrived Makurdi in time and actually we close to the venue of our meeting, NKST Idye. However, I dozed off shortly before the scheduled time for our meeting. He kept to time as it has been with him most of the times. Minutes passed and I wasn't around, he called several times without response from my end for nearly an hour, my phone has been silent since the meeting started the previous evening. Good enough, noise from children around wake me up some I hurried down to join him. I arrived the venue and he was already anxious and tensed. "What could have been disturbing him?" I asked quietly within. We prayed briefly and started talking, I have never seen him has difficulty in expressing himself like that day, I think my delay in coming to the meeting also contributed. I later discovered as we talked that any normal person will as well be selective in choice of words the way he was. I was many things to him that day, he was in love with a young lady who is my younger sister by natural blood. He and the lady in question were also working directly under me with children and youths in the church and as youth leaders next to me in hierarchy. We discussed the the matter where I emphasized the need for a testimony since those there nurturing will be looking up to them, also asking him as few questions and soon we were done. A faithful day came, 29th April, 2017, we gathered to be witnesses as they were joined in Holy Matrimony. On Sunday 29th April, 2018, we greeted with memories as it marked it first anniversary. Even though we didn't celebrate because of the pains my brother was going through, it wasn't without reasons to thank God. In just 10 months of their marriage, God blessed them with a baby boy. We however you the Anniversary date to trust God for healing of our brother. At home and in the church, it was all prayers. I was really thrilled as how the children and teens whom they had previously taught and mentored vigorously prayed for them. Two days later precisely on the 1st May, 2018, "God healed him in a better way" in the words of my sister Rita Gerald Dzer. The Lord called him home! Gerald Dzer lived a brief but eventful life. He lived for others and has left even at a time we needed him most. For us as a family, it is the Lord's doing, He is always right. We simply submit to His will even at a time like this. Our brother will be laid to rest on Thursday, 10th May, 2018 at Tse-Dzer, Mbakutem, Yaav, Turan in Kwande LGA, Benue State. Farewell Brother! Rest on!" A Nigerian man identified as Ajayi Olusegun has taken to Instagram to reveal how heartbroken he is after his uncle who was involved in an accident couldn't survive due to a poor healthcare system in the supposed 'Emergency hospital' he was taken to. Read what Olusegun wrote below; "This again, is the country we live in. We were just returning from a private birthday lunch when I got the call from my mum. “Uncle Sam is dead!” "What happened?” He was hit by a car. “Where?” Redemption Camp. Obviously a busy place; FRSC officials are flagging down cars, this Blue Corolla slows down and in a split of seconds, he’s hit on his side by a bus on top speed. 2 men are right by the roadside, the impact of the hit is so much his car proceeds to hit the 2 men. It’s so bad one of them is thrown upwards and by the time he lands, his body shatters the windscreen of the car. The victims are rushed to a nearby hospital. Long story cut short, in 24 hours, both men are confirmed dead. “Why didn't you people chase after the bus?” the FRSC officials are quizzed, “Because we had no car to chase him with” they respond. Hmmmmn. A visit to the supposed “Emergency hospital” where both victims died reveals the 2 men possibly could have survived if they got good enough intensive care. There's hardly any facility there to cater to such matters, referrals are not done immediately and as time ticks on, the chances of survival drastically drops ergo, the deaths. It hurts! It hurts so bad to know Uncle Sam could have had a chance to life were the hospital equipped with all needed for him to live. Yet, as I write this, the President has jet out abroad (again) to cater to his own medical needs. This is the country we live in. I hear the bus that did this evil had passengers in it; apparently none of them has reported the case to a Police Station yet. Anyways, This is to the driver of the mystery Red bus; You know you hit a blue Toyota Corolla at Car Park C (Redemption Camp) on Friday May 4th 2018 at about 2pm and you drove off not minding the consequence of your action. Well, 2 people died as a result sir; 2 families are in deep mourning, an innocent man has been in Police custody and his family have been saddled with such pain of dealing with all it will take to secure his freedom. If you were in that bus, please have the decency to speak out to someone so it gets to the appropriate quarters. Please!!! I know I tried to believe in this country. I really tried. #Whew" Culled from; https://www.torimill.com/2018/05/man-left-shattered-after-his-uncle-was-woefully-failed-due-to-poor-healthcare-system.html Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

This is TRUE But Nairaland feminists wii not ACCEPT THIS! |
A Nigerian man has said he wouldn't mind his kids bearing their mother's surname and choosing her place of origin as theirs. Chukwuebuka Nnaemeka Chukwuemeka, who identifies as feminist, said this decision isn't about feminism, even though many people may think it is. He explained that he has always preferred to identify as an indigene of his mother's hometown, for reasons which he stated in his post. He also added that as a banker, he mentioned his mother's hometown and not his father's and it worked well for him. He said his wife will be free to retain her surname after marriage, and also to give their children her name and even make her hometown theirs. He went on to reveal that he is bearing his grandfather's name, not his father's and he doesn't mind whose surname his children bear or which town they choose to identify with. Chukwuebuka, an Indigene of Anambra state, is an author and a language editor at Oxford University Press. He lives in Hamburg, Germany. He wrote on Facebook; "When I told a friend that I wouldn’t mind my kids bearing their mother’s surname and nativity, he thought it was one of my numerous jokes. But I was serious. As I tried to give him my reasons for having such inclination, he thought it was one of my feminist sermons. But it wasn’t about feminism. Most of my ideas about fairness and freedom stem from my personal idiosyncracies. I am easily given to the advancement of free-thinking and liberty, one that does not infringe on another man’s rights and peace. Perhaps this is the reason I easily speak up for feminism, homosexuals and irreligious folks. Yes, my wife would be free to bear her surname, register my kids’ names with her surname and even make her native town that of my kids’. This is not about feminism. (If feminism preaches such cause, then it is by accident that our thoughts align.) Rather, this is about me, who I am, the way I see life—a NO Big deal. For instance, I have always preferred to identify ?k?z? (corrupted as Awkuzu), my mum’s town, as my native town to whoever that asks. This was not to push a feminist cause, but to avoid unnecessary cynical questions I get from some people when I tell them I am from ?m?eri (popularly corrupted as ?m?leri) because of the town’s history of war and violence with some of her neighbours, especially Ag?leri and ?m??ba Anam. As a banker, I mentioned ?k?z? instead of ?m?eri as my home town. And it worked for me, until Dad challenged me to rise to the task of clearing to the world the hidden virtues of his townsmen and be the voice to correct those narratives I do not want to be associated with. I agreed with him. And I am happy he was able to understand that I could decide to change my nativity to that of my maternal home based on my personal circumstances. Culturalists may argue for order. But in an advanced world, these things work perfectly with digitalized administrative documentations. When my kids become adults, they should be able to denounce ?m?eri and identify Ak?kwa or Ihiala or Mbaise or wherever their mother hails from as their native town. The district commissioners will file their registration. And that’s it. In fact, as long as one is an Igbo and could prove it through their birth certificate, this shouldn’t be a big deal in an ideal Igbo nation. I do not think it is by having my kids bear my name that will make my name live forever. In fact, I don’t intend to change my surname from Chukwuemeka (my grandfather) to Nnaemeka (my father). Yet, who knows Chukwuemeka! If my kids decide to bear Chukwuebuka as their surname, that’s their business, I won’t stop them. I only hope that by the time they start reading and writing, my book would have been ready, so that they’d read about their father’s ideas, and realise that their individual choice is more important than whatever culture or religion prescribes." Displeased by the advise, Eketi stated that there will be more cases of rape if women continue telling their daughters that marriage is the greatest achievement a woman can attain.
