Justiceleague1:What is wrong with NE producing the next president? Is there a law that says Tinubu must do 2 terms? You have a right to contest but you earn the privilege to be president. Oga this is a democracy, you get more votes you win….end of story! Elections are about votes not turn by turn, not tribe, not zone. Atiku contested, if not for the shortsightedness, impatience, lack of foresight and sabotage by Obi, Atiku a northerner, will be president today, turn of the south or no turn of the south, emilokan or no emilokan. It is how many votes you have that makes you president. North can rule 40 years at a stretch and heavens will not fall. South can rule 40 years straight and heavens will not fall. Why? Because north cannot become president without the south and the south cannot become president without the North. So if a southerner or a northerner is in power it is because that zone has broad support. What you cannot do is think you can be president by alienating others and then try to force yourself on other by law. |
Justiceleague1:If you get more votes than your opponent, you become president. That’s how democracy works. |
Justiceleague1:If you want to become president, build bridges and stop the insults. Nobody is going to pass quota system law. |
yinkus6750:Ironically, this is what the bill seeks to achieve. Any one from any zone who seeks to rule Nigeria must do so by reaching out to other zones not by right. The only right aNyone or zone has is the right to contest. This proposal means any zone can insult and abuse other zones and become president by law….that’s not democracy. |
The west really have really done a number on us. Imagine obtaining a loan to vaccinate your population with a rushed untested vaccine that is now proven to cause damaging side effects in recipients and neither prevents infection nor transmission just so that companies in the west can increase their sales because most of their drugs are out of patent and are being sold by generic Mansfield turners for cents o. The dollar. The irony is the Nigerian population is likely largely immune from it because we live in a malaria endemic region. Which probably explains why the poor in Nigeria despite crowding themselves during the pandemic hardly fell I’ll from it. |
Chrisrare:Noodles are probably one of the most dangerous foods you can eat, especially for children. It is one of the reasons why our youth are so dull. If you eat bad food in the development stage of life, you limit the development of your organs including the brain. |
DesChyko:My advice to you is to stop posting as you are really exposing your non existent IQ. Simple concept you fail to grasp. Tesla is the 15th largest car manufacturer by volume but it’s USP is electric vehicles. But if you live in the west and want an electric car as at today, it’s hard to overlook a Tesla. Tesla cannot replicate what Toyota does for the African market. With the exception of BYD in the Chinese market, no auto manufacturer has been able to replicate what TEsla has done. Tesla is to the auto industry what Twitter is to the social media space. Social media is the name of the industry, inside that space every company holds its own space and they all do different things. Twitter does not do what Facebook does and Facebook does not do what WhatsApp does. Clearly you don’t understand what USP means and clearly you are no brains. Good night and good riddance!! |
DesChyko:If I had to explain to you, it would be a waste of time. If you don’t know the USP of twitter you are dumber than I could ever have imagined. To others with brains, most social media companies have a faraway market leader in their unique USP and that is how they hook you. Nairaland is a one stop shop for all news Nigeria…and to gauge how far the IQ of Nigerians is falling by the day. Facebook is a one stop shop for connecting with old friends Twitter is a one stop shop for global headline news No other companies provide what these companies provide in the way they provide. For instance if you quit Facebook, you have to find a social media platform that has all your Facebook contacts as members, so even when you are tired of Facebook you don’t close your account….just in case. Like I said everyday I want to quit WhatsApp but it has become the defacto means of communication, So I put up with the nuisance factor despite the fact that I hate it, Telegram, and co are not the same and going back to normal txt messages is like going back to the Stone Age. Same with Nairaland, you encounter so many daft, brain dead people like you and low IQ posts like yours but if one wants a one stop shop for Nigerian news, there is no alternative….at best don’t join or resist the urge to comment. Binance is different, you can always switch to another and trade your crypto and lose nothing. It is merely a trading platform, there are many trading platforms. |
DesChyko:You are arguing like an id1ot, you must be an Obidient. There is no alternative to twitter for what twitter does , there are alternatives to Binance for what Binance does. I (and many) would love to quit WhatsApp but there is no real alternative to WhatsApp because for there to be an alternative my contacts must also be on the platform. That’s the practical definition of alternative or replaceable. I know you must be an Obidient but please try to post like the Obidient movement has not eradicated all your brain cells. I assume that surely you had some to begin with. |
DesChyko:Use your brains. Binance and twitter are different. Binnace has many alternatives, there is really one 1 twitter. Personally I support the ban of twitter, and all these companies mainly for the reason that they make more out of Nigeria and don’t pay taxes. The world will not fall if they are banned. And for the record, Twitter complied with government requests before their ban was lifted. Left to me many of these social media leeches like twitter will be banned as they do more damage to society than any benefit they bring.

SpartaOfLagos:it is people like you who are making fools of themselves who would side with foreigners especially those who contribute nothing and milk the country because you have beef with one of your own. I voted for this government but i already said in a previous post that Onanuga is fast becoming an embarrassment to the government. The difference between people like you is that we dont let our affiliations mute our brains or our patriotism. That is why no one takes you seriously and you are called a headless mob. casualobserver:Binance needs Nigeria more than Nigeria needs Binance. We are one of their largest markets, as it is they are banned or restricted in many countries including but not limited to USA, canada, uk, china saudi, Turkey and there are alternatives to Binance for Nigerians. If Binnance is banned, Genuine Nigerian crypto traders will find another platform, B8nance cannot replace the Nigerian market especially when they are banned in many of the countries with large populations. |
it has to be said that Onanuga has largely been an embarrassment to the government since he took up his appointment. He talks anyhow!! |

DevilsEqual:I have always maintained that many got swindled by the Obidient LP movement because they were desperate for change and had not enough time to examine them. They will unravel in the 4 years to 2027. The only smart people in the Obidient movement are the Ibos and the likes of Abure. The Ibos know it is about Ibo presidency and the likes of Abure know this is an opportunity of a lifetime for prominence….anyone who doesn’t fall into that category is naive ( one can excuse the youth as a younger version of me would probably have been an Obidient) or brain dead. |
fergie001:On what basis? The matter in question ends at the Appeal court so on what basis would they be making a plea to the supreme court that under law has no jurisdiction on the matter? it is unfortunate. |
senatordave1:The whole saga is unfortunate but the law is the law. I have a lot of sympathy for them. Then again, this is another reason why you cross your "t"s and dot your "i"s before an election. |
Chikolo24:Only the dumb believe this BS story. How did your imaginary brother get the medicines he is using now? either he took it with him in which case it is him you should ask or he obtained them in canada in which case why does he need you to bring them? The truth is there is no brother with HIV. Sounds to me like you have HIV and you want to know how you can travel abroad with your medication. “Is HIV treatment covered in Canada? Full coverage of ARV medication is offered at no cost, regardless of age or income. There is no deductible or co-payment. HIV medications are offered through the Exceptional Drug Status [EDS] Program.” https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/publications/diseases-conditions/summary-hiv-antiretroviral-medication-coverage.html |
First he says he is not an expert, then he proceeds to comment on matters on which he is no expert. This is not importing without producing or deceiving gullible followers on which he is no doubt the greatest expert in Nigeria. It is no coincidence that since the policies were announced Naira has appreciated. The biggest cause of inflation in Nigeria is the exchange rate. Even people who have no forex input start to increase prices. Price of petrol went up in May and has not gone up since, so why is the price of tomatoes or yam going up? Because once Naira falls everyone adjusts prices in line with the dollar. So in the absence of increased supply of forex, this is one way you affect the exchange rate….by reducing money supply and adjusting the comparative interest rate differential making the Naira returns more attractive for foreign portfolio investors. This inflow of dollars gives the country a window to stabilize the economy. It is a short term measure and to those who talk about manufacturers and interest rates, which do they prefer, increased import costs or increased borrowing costs? Ask them to pick one and when they think about it, I am sure they will pick increase in interest rates. This is economics not philosophy. |
ANTAX99:He has given the solution because there is no other solution. The problem with Nigerians is that so long as there is a way they can solve a problem, they don’t do the needful to avoid the problem. It is not today we have heard instances like this and yet you keep your bank details in an unlocked phone? |
Queengee:You are here calling people wicked buy you left a company without giving notice….it’s that not wickedness as well? Do you not realize the disruption you cause when you leave without notice? You didn’t care so why should they care about you? If I were HR, I wouldn’t answer you just as you didn’t show any concern for me and made my job difficult when you left. You don’t deserve it. I will make you spend the value of the pension on lawyer fees so serve as a deterrent to others. Now you will reap your rewards. Best check your employment contract. To others, the reason why you give notice is to give your employers time to adjust to life without you and prevent disruptions, find a replacement. You may void your contract and any obligations the company has to you if you do not follow procedures. |
It shows how out of touch our legislators are. This is not the time to complain, people are dying of hunger, you are approving exotic imported luxury cars for yourselves. The masses do not care and really he should shut up!! |
Osifo has once again proven to be more sensible than Ajaero. |
alsudan:What a daft mindset by you and the hundreds who liked your post. It shows the real problem with Nigeria. Who are you hurting? Is it Tinubu that won’t be able to afford medical care good schools etc, if the country doesn’t work? Tinubu’s role in history is assured whether the country makes progress or not. He will not lack whether the country makes progress or not. It is you that will suffer if the country doesn’t make progress not Tinubu. The abundance of daft minds in this country never ceases to amaze. You will tell us whether it is you or Tinubu who won’t be able to afford to eat or send their children to school etc if the country fails as you are all praying for. |
Malroux:Atiku and Obi are both comedians. Go and look at the data for Argentina since the man took office. They are in even deeper trouble!! https://x.com/otegaogra/status/1761858998708375879?s=46&t=zIh8l0Y5x1WkbEiRY9Q56Q “- Argentine Inflation Rates: Jumped to 254% in January 2024 - the highest level since 1990. - Industrial and construction output in Argentina dropped by 12.8% and 12.2% year-on-year in December, respectively. - Economic activity in Argentina fell 2.5% year on year according to a Reuters survey. - Car registrations in Argentina declined by 33% year-on-year in January. - Retail sales in Argentina fell by 25.5% year-on-year in January. - Construction activity in Argentina decreased by 28.2% in January. - Cement deliveries and motorcycle registrations also saw significant declines. - Halting all public works, freezing public sector salaries and pensions, and eliminating many public subsidies, including for energy and public transportation. - Tax Increases: Sharp rise in taxes, including import taxes. - Real Salary Collapse: The real salary of registered private-sector workers in Argentina experienced the largest monthly drop in at least 30 years, with January's real salaries potentially falling below the levels of the 2001 crisis - National taxes linked to economic activity across Argentina fell between 15% and 25% annually on a real basis. - Food sales in retail stores fell 37.1% year-on-year in January. - Minimum Wage: The current Minimum Living and Mobile Wage (SMVM) is 156,000 pesos per month ($184), with no increase despite high inflation. tishbite43:It was under him as minister of education that lecturer strikes started. One was so long and unprecedented, it was known as “Ango break” |
Cantonese:Worry about the people who lost and their errors not the people who won without Osinbajo. |
ademijuwonlo:Great! Now spread the word. It is a pity the government is not doing enough (if anything) to educate Nigerians on the need to buy local. I guess they lost the moral authority when the 1st thing they did was purchase imported jeeps. At the end of the day a prosperous Nigeria is in the interest of all. If you’ve lived in the UK or the US, you will know how fiercely protective the citizens are about local jobs and direct their purchasing power accordingly. |
Ibos are not protesting publicly because they stand to lose the most if any riots get out of hand. They are the ones who earn their living and have the majority of their investments outside Ibo land. If riots get out of hand such that they are forced to return to Ibo land, there is nothing there to return to. So this idea that Ibos are not protesting is not what it appears on the surface. Furthermore there are different types of protest. Silence is also a form of protest especially if the silence is from someone who normally protests. Furthermore when Igboho talks about invasion, he should look around him and see who are those who have really invaded yoruba land. Not all invasion is violent, there are those who invade with cows and kill farmers but there are those who move in among you in numbers, take over your businesses and lands by legal acquisition and want to determine who becomes your governors and representatives……..sometimes the most dangerous invasion is the silent invasion. |
Knee jerk and clearly not well thought out. 1) why build a rice mill if you have no feedstock? 2) why import rice with scarce forex when you should be encouraging people to farm local products? |
Zooposki:Obi shouldn’t complain when the Naira appreciates (and it will eventually) and the duty they are asked to pay is more than the prevailing exchange rate at the time the goods land . Uncertainty and risk is a part of business. |
Chukwuka319:Gowon outsmarted Ojukwu by creating states. Ojukwu rushed to declare secession because the newly appointed state governors were due to take office imminently. If they took office he would be powerless. The war was about Oil...nothing more, nothing less! Gowon carved states to remove the Oil producing areas from under Ojukwu's control and Ojukwu rushed to war to retain control of the Oil producing areas. |
