gr8child:If you read my post, I stated have no problem with the substance of what he said. I have a problem with his audience, his motives and because it comes from Obi who has always shown a penchant for Uncle Tom behavior. Everything about this fella from accepting a name change to Mikel, to fake accent, to knocking Africans in front of a white audience to marrying white for ratings smacks of inferiority complex and a desire to serve his white masters. If he said it to an African audience, a Nigerian tv station or radio, I won’t have a problem. What exactly is the white man supposed to do with that info? Except to perpetrate the stereo type of the African entertainment. If he really wanted to send a message to Africanaudience and he is really that bothered he should have said in to an African/Nigerian audience. Stop making fools of yourselves to please the white man. Slavery is over, colonialism is over. The says where you put a black man in an audience to entertain the white man is over. Do you ever hear the Brazilians, the Venezuelans or the Colombian footballers come on TV to denigrate their own? Their conditions are no different from ours. They also have a family culture like us and most footballers from South America are from poor backgrounds, many from even poorer backgrounds than Nigeria. |
Mindlog:Nigerians that were born in the uk and lived there for decades don’t have accents, it is you that sold all her properties to get care worker visa in the uk to clean elderly poop that is changing accent and changing name! Ode!!! |
Mindlog:I am sure you have changed your name to a slave name too. You know I am right. Let me tell you for the over 2 decades I spent in the Uk, I taught them how to pronounce my name. I would rather they pronounce it wrong than give me a name that isn’t mine or for me to change my name to please them. All this just to change pampas for the elderly while they spit at you. Despicable insecure slaves!!! |
PopQueenAgency:You are your I’ll are Africans with a slave mentality. You are not proud of who you are. That’s the o Lu reaso. Someone who left his country after the age of 16 when his accent is already formed will change his accent. |
tianshie:It’s called inferiority complex. You don’t see whites who come to Nigeria change their accents, no matter how long they stay in Nigeria. |
Saipro:True. Interesting read that also shatters the misconception that testing for capacity is an indication of the quality of a cell. A grade B cell can test for capacity and be dead in 3 years. https://www.lifepo4-battery.com/News/EVE-GRADE-A.html
|
Mindlog:It is because you have never left your village and your inferiority complex that you cannot spot a fake accent. Kanu, okocha Okonjo Iweala for example and others have been abroad longer than him….they don’t have fake accents. Once you grow up and spend your formative years in Nigeria, you have a Nigerian accent. If you start to speak with a foreign accent it is because you made a deliberate choice. Those who make a deliberate choice to change their accent do so because they are not proud of their accents, they feel a sense of inferiority, they are not proud of when they are. |
TechCapon:Even police report is not free. |
OlujobaSamuel:There are different types of intelligence, one of which is emotional intelligence. This guy clearly lacks emotional intelligence. An ugly woman asks you if she is ugly…..you don’t tell her the truth and say she is ugly….she has a mirror. Your wife has borne children for you and asks if her protruding stomach is getting too big or her arms are getting flabby, you don’t say yes. Akpata is a m0ron! |
I really dislike this guy. Are Nigerians the only footballers from poor backgrounds with family hanger-ons? Same thing happens with other African and South American footballers. They dont come on tv or radio selling out their own to please his white masters. I don’t have a problem with what he said, I have a problem with him saying it to outsiders to get ratings. O I has an inferiority complex with his stupid fake accent! |
MEGAWATCH:How does reporting your father to your neighbour solve the problem of your father being a bad man? Are you not your fathers son? For good or for bad you inherit anything ascribed to your father. So when you go exposing your father, you are cursing yourself. You think other families don’t have their own problems? My wife once said to me, she has friends who will come reporting their husbands to her in anger and she realized that she can never look at their husbands the same way again and sometimes while sympathizing with the friends she will think to herself, why are you telling me this, what kind of woman airs her dirty linen in public. She said the day she realized that the person listening to you rather than empathizing g May actually be looking down on you was the day she understood what her mother always told her, “whatever problem you have with your husband settle it with your husband. Once you tell outsiders, they will take your story to the streets and once you and your husband settle, the story/secrets and many versions of it will be out in the streets. The bottom line is this what do you expect to gain by demarketing your own outside? Do you expect them to solve your problem for you? If not what is the purpose? What is the upside for the reputational damage that others will suffer as a result of association? That’s the real question. |
TheOldGods:I am inclined to ignore daft comments like yours but I ask you: Now that you keep embarrassing Nigeria in the presence of the international community. What do you expect them to do? What will it do to change things? On the contrary, because you keep rubbishing your own to outsiders, you the ordinary citizen will ask for a visa, they will turn you down. You will apply for jobs in their country they will say they don’t recognize your certificates. You will leave your country with a valid visa they will not allow you to enter their country. They will treat you anyhow because you have told them with your own mouth that you are useless people. It is not the big man that will suffer, they will give Akpata visa but they won’t give you. They will allow Akpatu’s children to study I. Their countries but they won’t let you in. You go abroad to ridicule your president publicly over certificates, suddenly a. Veto has been placed on the employment of Nigerian nurses over their certificates. It is your self you are demarketing. These people you are talking about don’t care about you. You have a problem, you fix it in house. If tommorow your savior Obi becomes president, do you think all the bad names you have given Nigeria abroad will go away? It won’t, he will inherit the negativity. Once it is out there you can’t take it back. It takes 1 minute to destroy a reputation it takes a life time to restore it. |
Cantonese:That is not the point. When you go telling all your friends my father is a bad Mann , my mother is a bad woman, my uncle is useless, my cousins are useless. You or your children will want to marry one day and people will say don’t marry from that family o, they are all useless. You don’t use your own mouth to confirm bad things about your own to outsiders. What was he hoping to gain by ribbishing the Nigerian judiciary internationally? Can they fix it for him. So what was the point? |
He is a lawyer, so I guess he knows the judiciary better than me. However you go abroad to rundown your country and you wonder why no one takes your country seriously? He wants to be governor, tommorow he will go back to these same foreigners after trashing Nigeria saying come and invest. |
Fujiyama:We are very daft in this country. When did Nigeria sign the agreement, it’s you that signed it on behalf of Nigeria Abi? Try and use your brain. Pretend you have one for your own sake. |
Streetdoctor:I take the published research of trained pharmaceutical chemists who have the labs to test medicines and have analysed the products on the market over a quack whose motive is to make money by selling the most expensive drugs to his/patients for more profit and who clearly has ulterior motive to demarket his/her own country. Like I said even in the Uk they prescribe generic medicines. |
Streetdoctor:Bullshit!! |
Streetdoctor:The problem with many Nigerians is that we behave like uninformed, unenligtened and uneducated people lacking any initiative. Augmentin is merely a brand name. The generic name is amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium. A simple search on google would have informed you. If you ask your pharmacist for augmentin he will sell you augmentin. If you ask your pharmacist for amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium, he will sell you the same medicine that is a lot lot cheaper. Same with panadol/paracetamol. You can pay for name or you can pay for medicinal content…the choice is yours. There is no medicine that GSK sells in Nigeria that is in common use that does not have a safe, generic, effective, alternative some at up to 1/10th of the price. We have data to talk crap on Nairaland but we refuse to use the data to enrich our knowledge. Simple search on google is all that is needed. Research was done by Unilag into the efficacy of generic augmentin in the Nigerian market. they were found to be as effective as augmentin. This research was done in 2012 which tells you it is not today that generic augmentin has been in the market eating into their market share. Hence the real reason these foreign pharma companies are leaving. https://ir.unilag.edu.ng/items/600eafad-109b-4973-a12e-65588107f58d Some people just take delight negativity about Nigeria. Even in the Uk the NHS will likely will not give you augmentin but a generic alternative.. things are tough in Nigeria, everybody knows, there is no need to invent falsehoods…to what end? Swiftgrp:This is the post casualobserver: |
Swiftgrp:…in addition ventolin was never produced in Nigeria, it was always imported and will continue to be imported whether GSK is here or not. So any increase in price of ventolin has nothing to do with the exit from Nigeria. Forex yes, hoarding maybe but I am sure GSK has not left yet. Nature abhors a vacuum, any vacuum created by their exit will be filled. Peugeot and VW left Nigeria…Toyota took their place. They will tell you Peugeot and VW left Nigeria, they won’t tell you the cars they were producing especially Peugeot were outdated and could not compete with the like of Toyota, hyuandai and Kia. |
Swiftgrp:There are substitute inhalers, GSK in not the only company that makes inhalers. I discussed this months ago on Nairaland when GSK announced their exit. Feel free to make use of the search function or google. No offense intended but I can’t be bothered to do the work again. There are alternatives. It is not a drug under patent. |
All na lie. We don’t verify before we spread rumours.
|
igwebuike01:Exactly. I said this in a previous post. Once a company develops a drug it has a patent where only it can make that drug. These parents usually palsy 10 yrs and once the patent expires anyone can make the same drugs. All these drugs are out of patent and have cheaper generic alternatives….that’s the real reason they’ve exited Nigeria…they can’t compete with the generics and they don’t want to lower their prices in Nigeria because people will start sourcing these products in Nigeria. I will post a graphic I stumbled across this morning below to highlight the cost of insulin in different countries. Another good example is paracetamol. Every Dick and Harry pharmaceutical company in Nigeria produces paracetamol for a fraction of the cost of panadol. Only the well heeled in a country like Nigeria buy panadol which is simply a brand name for paracetamol. That’s why these companies are leaving. Dont let these doommongers deceive you. Nigeria has problemst no doubt but that’s not the reason these pharmaceutical companies are leaving. The reason is Nigerian pharmaceutical companies like fidson, mopson are producing the same drugs for a lot less and there are cheap imports from India.

AllDModsAreMaad:Your problem is you are a m0ron who has simply inferred from my comments. My comments were statements of fact. They made no attempt to lay blame or to absolve anyone. You with your bias decided I was defending or absolving one party or another. I did not. Go back to my original post, all it said was Nigeria had been living a lie for decades and now we can no longer maintain that illusion….that’s all. We had been deferring the pain and now we can’t avoid it. I made a statement, you are poor and have been living above your means. I did not say it is this persons fault or this othe r person is not to blame, I simply made a stem entry of fact. We had been borrowing to defend the Naira. This is why it is difficult to have any semblance of an intellectual debate with Nigerians especially on Nairaland. The c Vast majority are not only intellectually deficient, uninformed and ignorant but to add to their burden they are clouded by bias. If you check my posts you will see where I have credited Buhari with undertaking lasting infrastructure projects never been done since the return to democracy in 1999. No matter the source of the funds, the roads, rail etc will be there for decades. However, I have also criticized his administration for financial recklessness in borrowing and for his failure to get the refineries working in 8 years and for his failure to remove subsidy. The current administration has just started, the reforms IMHO are necessary painful as hey are, collectively we have all been living a lie, living above our means. The adjustment will be painful but necessary. Poor people have no business driving V8 jeeps with fuel subsidized by the government. A country that imports everything and exports nothing will eventually pay the price. A country that wants to eat imported rice should not be subsidized to so especially at the expense of local farmers. At the same time the citizens must play their part. Nothing is free. There is a price for everything. You want good tertiary education for a population of 200m you have to pay for it one way or another either increased taxes or increased fees. But if you protest increase in fees, you end up like the man who burnt his certificates…..you end up with certificates that are worthless. So if you want cheap petrol, no problem but you will end up with the country we have today. Government also has a duty to send a signal to the rest of the country. For me, I wish the government would pass a law that makes it illegal for any government agency to buy any foreign vehicle if the equivalent vehicle is assembled in Nigeria. I also wish they would ban the use of official vehicles above a certain engine capacity or below a minimum fuel consumption. The bottom line anyway is we are where we are because of the collective recklessness of the country both the government and the citizens. If as citizens you are not ready to buckle your belt and still want to live the false life of the past, trust me what is happening in Venezuela will be child’s play. |
AllDModsAreMaad:You are the one who should keep quiet and learn, I am educating you in 5 minutes what people spend 4 years to learn in university. |
VeeVeeMyLuv:Like I said do not comment on things you do not understand. This thing is above your pay grade. All these years we were claiming we had forex reserves of $30-40b. Recently JPMorgan announced that all the so called reserves had been borrowed against. While we had it on paper, we had borrowed against it and spent it defending the Naira. It is like claiming you own a house worth N300m but you have borrowed N250m from the bank against the house and used that money to maintain a false lifestyle. You are clearly not informed or educated enough to comment on matters of economics or finance. We have been borrowing for years borrowing to defend the Naira, borrowing to subsidize petrol, borrowing g to build roads borrowing g to pay salaries. When you go to a shop to buy food, the food seller does not know where you got the money from and does not care whether you borrowed or earned the money. At the point of sale or transaction you are spending. It is at the back end where you go to your friends to borrow you money to feed your family that the borrowing occurs. The bottom line is you have lost your job, you are spending money to feed your family and maintain the lifestyle of your family like someone who still had a job. Eventually you started to borrow money to spend in order maintain your family’s lifestyle, even pledging a significant portion of your future salaries for the job you have not even secured. That is the story of Nigeria. Don’t confuse spending and borrowing. spending is what you do with money, borrowing is one way you source the money to be spent. Whether money is earned or borrowed it will be spent. Borrowing g is simply a source of money that is spent. The money that we had been spending to defend the Naira and pay fuel subsidies was borrowed money not earned money. That is why JP Morgan said no you don’t really have $30b in reserves, you only have about $6b because we have over the years used the reserves as security to borrow $24b from them and others to intervene in the forex market to defend the Naira. That part in bold shows your ignorance and lack of understanding and that this thing is above your level. It is like asking how can a man borrow money to feed his family or how can a man borrow to keep up appearances? A country is no different from a family, it is simply an extended family. Often in a family you don’t know what it takes for daddy to put food on the table, the friends he has had to borrow from until one day he no longer can’t, he no longer has friends to borrow from, then you face the sudden reality that you have been living a fantasy and have to make painful adjustments…you might even have to live your school to go to a cheaper or government school. You earn to feed your family, if you don’t earn, you borrow untill no one wants to lend to you again. When no one wants to lend toyou again, you take any job you get to raise money or you are forced to cut your expenses. If you cannot get a job, you go hungry and eventually you die. We are now in the hungry stage and finally coming clean to friends and family that this lifestyle we have been leading was a false one so adjust or we die. |
oyichi:Foolishness is commenting on matters you know nothing about. Nigeria has been spending money to defend the Naira for decades. When you hear that CBN intervened in the forex market that is what they are doing…. Subsidizing forex for Nigerians. The problem is we have now run out of forex reserves to defend the Naira. The root cause of the decline in the Naira is the collapse of local refineries, importation of fuel, fuel subsidies, reduction in crude production and the fact that we export very little. The chickens have now come home to roost. Like a man borrowing from friends to maintain his lifestyle, Nigeria has been living a false life for decades, now there are no more friends to borrow from to lead the false lifestyle. |
Trying to merge LP and PDP is like a stubborn self centered couple that always fight and split up and then try to come back together only because no one wants to date either of them. The fights that caused them to split up they will still fight if they come back together. That selfish me me me behaviour that caused them to split up has not gone away. Obi can’t be vice to Atiku because he knows power will stay in the North even if Atiku wins. Atiku can’t be vice to Obi because, what is in it for him at his age, he has already been VP? So they will still fight the fight that caused them to split in the first place. As for Kwakwanso, forget that one, he is not going to play onlooker to Obi and Atiku, he has already said, he would rather align with Tinubu if he is not running. |

Angelfrost:Obi. himself is not marketable. I dont support either but I am telling you the honest truth. The only chance Obi or Atiku have of defeating Tinbu in 2027 is an Atiku/Obi ticket. Anything else is dead on arrival. You will abuse me but I am telling you the truth. If you harbour any intention of defeating Tinubu, you need to sacrifice Obi. Obi cannot become president of Nigeria, he is unelectable. If you present Obi/Atiku, northern votes will go to Tinubu. |
When the history of recent events is analyzed and written, it will be said that Obis defection from PDP and the Obidient movement rather than create a third force, destroyed the opposition in Nigeria. Politics. Obi and Obidients have boxed themselves into a corner, they can’t go forward and they can’t go backwards. They can’t win an election on their own and they destroy their credibility (not that they have any) if they go back to align with the same old guard they claim to be against. |
