Backpedal:You clearly don’t understand what I said. Read again. When I say somebody, I mean a part of society. You and many others are looking at this japa from a strictly financial point of view which is why you associate being a somebody to being financially ok. Where I live, even my maiguard is a somebody, abroad we have many well off doctors, IT ontractors and other Nigerian professionals that are nobodies. I am not saying don’t japa what I am saying is there are downsides that will only manifest later. Japa is not this rosy picture people are painting especially for those of you who are not even citizens and I am a full fledged British born citizen, I would rather be in Nigeria, there are down sides yes but there are many upsides. For one you are never on your own. abroad no one gives a shit. My point is life seems to be all about finances until you achieve the finances and then you realize you are in another financial trap abroad without the intangible benefits of being at home. It is only then you appreciate the benefits of being at home. |
Backpedal:Have you lived abroad? I have, so I can talk. Have you? Or is your opinion of life abroad based on movies and perceptions? If you have not then you are no position to make the comment in bold. You need to understand something about life. There is more to life than finances, secondly once you solve your financial problems, other things become important, things 90% of Nigerians abroad will never get. Status, a sense of belonging, purpose, peace of mind. These things cannot be explained to people who have never lived abroad. Living abroad is like marriage. I wan marry I wan marry, it is only after you marry that many truly understand that wedding is the party and marraige is hardwork. Finally, I never said don’t go abroad, I said, if you stay too long, diminishing returns will set in and you will hit a ceiling and become a slave to the system and those you left behind will eventually rise above and surpass you both in the finances that drove you abroad and status. How many Nigerians abroad ever become anybody abroad? Less than .001%. How many Nigerians abroad rise to become company directors, asenior management or heads of the organisations they work for? Very few!!! How many Nigerians abroad know somebody in any position of authority, in Nigeria even the agbero or gateman knows somebody who knows somebody who knows the president. that is the advantage of being “at home” that you lose when you overstay abroad, you become a nobody. And eventually once you are financially able to overcome the financial hardships that drove you from Nigeria, you will understand that being a somebody in society matters. Being a somebody does not mean being rich or being powerful. It just means you matter. You will never matter abroad unless you break into the very top and like I said, less than 1 of 10,000 Nigerians abroad will matter abroad, whereas by default no matter your status financially or otherwise, in Nigeria you matter. Worse still, you will raise children that have no identity, they won’t fit in abroad and they won’t fit in back home. |
Krismas:Because like 90% of Nigerians in the UK, he doesn’t have the money to relocate and nothing to show for all his years abroad. Most Nigerians in the Uk cannot come back to Nigeria and match the lifestyle of their compenporaries who never Japad. That is the real truth of japa. Your gain is only short term, eventually your contemporaries who stayed in Nigeria achieve more in Nigeria and you are are stuck in a comfortable rot in the UK. 2 Nigerian professionals of equal intelligence and capacity, graduate from University. I stays in Nigeria and the other leaves for the Uk. Initially the one who leaves for the Uk does better but with time the one in Nigeria over takes and surpasses the one in the UK. The one in Nigeria will come to buy a holiday home in the Uk while his friend in the Uk is still paying mortgage for his only home. Nothing wrong with japaing when you are young but don’t stay too long or else diminishing returns starts to set in. There is a ceiling you will never break for 99% of Nigerians abroad. |
mannobi:1). Most of them spend all they earn on mortgage, rent, food, transport, car loan, credit card bills etc. 2). 99% of them will never be able to save $95,000 after 20 years. I can tell you for a fact that 90% of Nigerians in the UK don’t have £20,000 in cash to their name. Most who have net worth have their net worth in their homes because they have been paying mortgage and built equity over time. People say your home is an asset…is it? To get any money from the home you either sell it or you take a loan, so really it is just a psychological asset that in all probability you will never enjoy as it is your children that will inherit it. If you sell it you have to buy another home, or you go from homeowner to tenant. if you take a loan on it or remortgage, you have new debt o. So even Nigerians that have equity in their homes are stuck. 90% of Nigerians in the Uk cannot raise £10,000 without a bank loan or credit card. The system gives with one hand and takes it all with the other. 3. Finally someone on level 16 in Nigeria is likely close to or above 50 yrs old. How can someone who has achieved that status in Nigeria go to the uk to become a security guard? What is the sense in that? |
SALLYBERRY01:Too much Ethanol will damage the engine. And we know in Nigeria there are no standards. It can damage seals, injectors and corrode the engine itself it the blend ratio is too high. |
nkpommpko:He can only appear smart to people who are not smart. |
hisexcellency34:Napoleon complex |
It is “walk” not “work” |
France is the very definition of a parasitic, exploitative country. Their whole existence and fortunes are based on the continuos exploitation of others. Even their entire league and national team is populated by Africans. Be it Black Africans or Arab Africans. |
i thought the courts have sacked this man as chairman? |
Enemyofpeace:It is medical shorthand, those who are meant to understand what is written understand what is written, I.e pharmacists. |
Lilimax:I am sorry but this woman, from the 1st time she came to my consciousness at the APC primaries, has just been coming across as uncouth, uncivilized, unrefined, unpolished, uncultured, thuggish and Barbaric in nature. From her “speech” at the primaries, it was obvious this is a woman lacking anything upstairs. There is nothing courageous in being a thug. Every news about this woman is always negative, always about fighting and being loud for loud sake. She is an embarrassment to herself, the president, the country and womenfolk. So far the only negative of the ministers. Better to keep quiet than make a fool of yourself. |
This cannot be. Somebody who killed Kudirat, Rewane, etc etc? I don’t believe it. |
SatanKeepOff:What do you mean by “stripping you of your experience”….how is that even possible? The above tells me you possibly have a problem with English and communication and maybe that’s is what is hindering you. You say you are good at your job, that’s your opinion and you may be right. However if you were truly that good your employer would not want to lose you. So either you are good and you have taught the others all you know so you are no longer indispensable or you are not as good as you think you are. If you are truly as good as you say you are, then You have nothing to worry about. If you lose your job you will get another. The question is are you really as good as you think you are? Why are you worried about competition if you are that good? Lastly I go back to English and communication. You may be good at your job but not good enough for promotion. As an employer, I have a particular graduate engineer that is good at the engineering aspect of his job, however he has issues with English and communication. I know how to manage him for the engineering roles but I wouldn’t want him as a manager or interfacing because he hasn’t got the skill set for that. His English is poor. He is not good at writing reports, has poor human interaction skills etc even though he is a very good engineer. So you see there is more to promotion than being a good accountant. |
Kukutente23: Feggie3:unfortunately your brains cells are dead beyond life support. |
fourboys:It’s financial, engineering. It’s simply a means of getting more forex into the system to,stabilize the Naira. They borrow in dollars, pay the cash recipients in Naira, and the dollar repayments are spread out over years. This means they get a bulk forex inflow in the short term to help the Naira. |
Kobojunkie:The tenets of all, faiths lie In what is called the universal law or the golden rule. Do,not, there as you wish unto yourself. It is something hat is least adhered to by so called religious people and all religions are guilty. If you take a good car and drive like a maniac resulting in a crash, the problem is not the car but the driver. He problem we have in the world is not your faith, be it Christianity, Islam or Judaism. The problem is religion. Religion is a man made concept, made by man for man. Understand Christianity is a faith not a religion. Jesus did not create a church. Man made church, church is religion. That I believe in Jesus does not mean I have any regard for people like Adeboye. He has the same bible I have. He is no more a man of God than I am. |
Kobojunkie:Christianity just like Islam is a religion of peace if you know the tenets of the religion. The fact that humans use religion to manipulate the gullible masses for violence and other evil acts does not change that fact. The fact that some Yorubas or Nigerians embarrass tribe and my country does not mean I should abandon my tribe and my country. |
Zandena:The irony is that Islam recognizes Jesus as a prophet of God but to Jews jesus was a false phophet. The other irony is that there are christians in palestine i.e some of the people the Israelis are killing are Christians. This is the problem with religion...it feeds on ignorance. |
KunleMax:Stop mentioning my name to deliberately gain my attention. Especially if you don’t want me to out you as unexposed simpletons and hillbillies. |
CloudTrees:There is no religion of violence, I am a Christian but stop all this nonsense. Christianity, Islam and Judaism all preach peace but humans of all religions are guilty or hypocrisy, manipulation, violence and utter wickedness. Your religion is not superior to another man’s….that is the part of the problem. Committing atrocities by night and claiming superiority of religion by day. If only we can look at Christian’s and say we want to be like them. Quite frankly as a Christian, I am often embarrassed at what we have made of Christianity in this country. |
KunleMax:Both of you are dimwits. I stated Aden river estates current acreage in a previous post so I am fully aware of their current acreage . They don’t have an oil mill and they are just developing the plantation I.e planting so whatever efforts they are making is recent. It takes 3-5 years often 7 to start to get commercial yield from a plantation so clearly without a mill they are not there. My comment was in reference to the slowpoke who claimed that because Ibrus had 500 hectares in the 1960s therefore they are “big players”. What kind of “big players” who are “billionaires” take 60 years to develop a 500ha plantation and up till now is still yet to get to 4000ha? That was my point they were never big in oil palm plantations they are just trying now to play big. 500 hectares is nothing, like I said if you understand the economics of oil palm. Which you and your sidekick clearly dont , you will know you cannot make money with 500 hectares which is clearly why the venture failed and had been moribund until recent attempts to revive it. You are either a small peasant farm holder with 30ha or you scale up to 10,000ha and above. Anywhere in between you will lose money. You cannot apply the methods of small farm holders to large plantations and 10,000ha is the level of farm inputs you need to make the investments in oil palm plantations viable. A typical plantation needs oil mills, excavation trucks, dirt road graders, farm trucks etc just to mention a few, accommodation, etc, you don’t make that sort of capital investment unless you have enough acreage or else your overheads will overwhelm you which is what happens to all those who tried and clearly also the Ibrus. Oil palm is a scale business. I was involved in financing for one of the top2 plantations in the country so I know. You and your side kick on the other hand are just talking out of your behinds based on things you heard. None of you have no exposure to the kind of environment where you have access to the info I do. None of the nonsense you and your sidekick come here to spew is backed with evidence or facts, just they say they say. Go and rest. You guys are small time. |
ChidiKalu:I gave you verifiable facts and figure including sources. You still come here spewing road side Motorpark tales. I thought you would have some shame and tell us how Elumelu owns 30% of Apple and your source. You are the one making a claim…prove it. I reply because others are reading, I am sure those with a brain know who is credible and who is just spewing fables and beer parkour tales of a time gone by. Clearly you get your info from Alex reports and all those hype blogs proclaiming everybody billionaire. As I said Elumelu is a good example of what happenned to the Ibrus and the destruction of wealth by the devaluation of the naira for Nigerian families whose businesses are based on the Nigerian economy and earn in naira. In 2015 Forbes ranked Elumelu as Worth $700m (he had fallen from his 2014 ranking) but by 2016 he had dropped off Forbes radar..meaning they were no longer interested in ranking him. What happenned in 2015? Exactly naira started to fall. Elumelu has little else aside from UBA and Transcorp. if you know anything else you are free to share. The naira has gone from $150/160 in 2015 to $1000 as at yesterday. His wealth is based on UBA and transcorp?heirs holdings. I have al;ready provided the links. his holding in transcorp and UBA were worth $135m as at yesterday...this is fact not rumour, not noise, not wild assertions. Same fate befell the Ibrus and many other families!!! Divide Tony's $700m by his $135M of today and you get approximately 6. Divide the $1000:1 of today by the $160:1 of 2015 and you get approximately 6. That is the effect of currency devaluation! The good thing is at least in the case of Elumelu, his wealth in 2015 and 2023 is documented and verifiable...only a retard will deny facts. You are seeing what happenned to the Ibrus playing out with ELumelu, you refuse to beleive both because you are hanging on to a time that once was. however, that was then and this is now. As at today neither are billionaires, neither are as rich as they once were, they may rise again tomorrow but not as at today. The lesson here is the effect of the brutal erosion of wealth by Naira depreciation, so stop getting excited because your property or stocks went up in Naira. N1m is less than $1000 dollars, 9 years ago it was $6,000…..in 1984 the Ibrus N1m was worth $1.6m, today it is worth less than $1000, not enough to buy an economy ticket to London. You may find this hard to beleive but what happenned between the 1985 and early 94 was worse than the devaluation of 2015-2023. Naira went from being stronger than the dollar ($1:N0.6) to ($1:N20) so if anything the impact on the Ibrus would have beeen worse than what we can see with evidence happening to Elumelu right before our eyes. https://www.forbes.com/profile/tony-elumelu/?sh=5d04b0b118cb I know you are retarded and will not see how you can lose your wealth with devaluation but I hope those with brains can see what happenned to the Ibrus and why I say if they were Billionaires at some point in the 80s (which i doubt) they are certainly not today. This time I will ignore as I can literally feel my IQ dropping the more I engage you. |
ImmanuelMyron:The biggest problem I have with Nigerian staff is that they speak English but they do not really understand English. I find myself having to ask them “what did I say?” After any instruction to ensure they understand what I said. Unfortunately, we’ve raised a lot of people who don’t truly understand English and there is a communication problem. There is a reason why foreign universities ask Nigerians to take English proficiency tests despite being supposedly an English speaking country. My advice to you is to repeat any instructions as you understand it to your boss to confirm you are on the same page |
We told you these things happen to us all, you decided to make a meal of it, I remember how I posted that I sent I my driving licence application and when it came back they twisted my middle name as my surname and I didn’t change it because of the wahala of Nigeria…..we know these things happen but no you wanted to exploit it….now it is coming to bite you. Those in glass houses don’t throw stones. |
ChidiKalu:You are an ignoramus and a peasant who suffers from small mindedness and a poverty mentality. Anybody with money is a billionaire to you. I had professional dealings with the oil palm industry that’s why I have some knowledge because I was involved in some financing deals. I got to know of some of the big players at the time and that’s why I knew of Wilmer, Presco, okomu and JB. I never heard of Aden because as you yourself have unknowingly confirmed they were small time players. 500 hectares is just above subsistence farming!!!! They are only just trying to grow. In the grand scheme of things there is no big player in the Nigerian oil palm industry. Companies are acquiring and. Developing 100,000 hectares at a go in countries like Ivory Coast you are here touting 5,000 hectares? Go and investigate what Willmar is doing and the partners of Presco in other African countries and you will realize that in reality there is no true big player in Nigeria yet.. ibru may be chairman of POFON but he is a smal boy in the oil palm industry even in Nigeria. You are very small time no wonder a millionaire is a billionaire to you. As for Elumelu, his companies are public companies and the records and his holdings are public. His known assets are Uba and transcorp. As at yesterday those holdings are worth $135m. If you dispute that tell us where his other wealth is derived from, back it up with evidence. don’t come here talking as if you are in a roadside beer parkour. When I posted I gave you backed up facts. You are dealing in rumor, hype and speculation. There is no doubt Elumelu was richer that he is today but like I have been telling you, just like the Ibru’s, over time the devaluation of the Naira deals with most Nigerian business men whose businesses are primarily derived in Nigerian and the Naira. At the start of my involvement in this thread, I confirmed the Ibru’s were wealthy, I confirmed they were top of the tree, I even said I know for a fact that one of them bought Ilashe beach though I don’t know the status of that as I know there was some legal tussle but I will not sanction lies, hype and falsehoods. There are not billionaires…full stop. I don’t want to get personal and reveal info here that I shouldn’t. My purpose is not to attack the Ibrus, I have nothing against them but I even know some of them who are struggling financially. It is a pity this forum does not have an ignore function as it constantly exposes one to dimwits. I have been guilty on this platform of ignoring the greats words of wisdom. Proverbs 26:4 - "Answer not a fool according to his folly; lest you also be like him" Nonetheless consider yourself ignored. Can you imagine this nincompoop talking about 500 hectares as big player….nonsense!,,, like I said I was involved in providing finance for one of the major oil palm companies in Nigeria that is why I can speak with authority. As part of that project I visited Okomu and JB farms to asses viability on behalf of my firm before arriving at a decision on whether to approve the financing request. At the time the list of all the major players including adapalm, rispalm okomu, Presco, etc came up, nobody mentioned Aden and rightfully so. There are numerous people in Nigeria with 500 hectares…they all failed. Too civil servants, retired military officers etc, many of them have 500-100 ha of farm land….they all fail because it is not economically viable especially for plantation farming. There is nothing like medium scale when it comes to oil palm. You are either small Substinence 30 ha or you are big…10000ha+, anything in between is a sure path to financial ruin. Which is why for 60 years they neither made head or tail. 1) I repeat oil palm plantations are not viable below 10,000 ha … that’s why many Nigerians who venture into them fail and you don’t see many 2) the profit is approx $1-2k per hectare…..only after yr 7 Somebody on 500 ha is small time or running at a loss or will eventually fold up which is why it took your Ibru’s 60 years to get to 2000 hectares and why he never registered on the list of major oil palm players. |
This whole thing is orchestrated by Israel to drive Palestinians into Egypt. |
jerk:Have you taken a look at the votes Obi got in the core North? He scored o.2, 0.3%, 0.6%, 1.2% i etc in core north states. They already dislike him. Even in Obi’s Anambra where he is most hated, Tinubu with his 0.8% got more than what Obi got in 4 Northern states. Obi does not require demarketing in the North, he has no customers there.
|
OGHENAOGIE:Do you think PDP were stupid when they jettisoned their own constitution, alienated people like Wike to give Atiku the ticket? Tambuwal made a big speech about learning from APC and how they swallowed their pride and formed an alliance with Buhari. Why would such a man now back Atiku, you think as a sitting governor he needs money? Do you not realize how desperate and hungry PDP boys were to get back into power, why would they sabotage their chances when everybody knows it was the time of the South and the Se were solidly behind them to back Atiku? Because they know their people and they know if they gave Obi the ticket it was a guaranteed loss. They chose the best option, they would have won if Obi stayed as VP but they would have lost with Obi as presidential candidate. Obi is not sellable outside the SE, SS, a few pockets of dissafected middle belters and gullible youth and woke elements in the SW. he has zero chances in the north and his votes reflect it, PDP or no PDP. |
OGHENAOGIE:Please dont confuse Obi as VP to Obi as president. As for Buhari, in 2015 a deal was done with Jonathan to vote for PDP. SW is not SE. Sw is more palatable to the North than the SE. Obi will not get votes in the North whether it is PDP or LP. If SE is going to produce presidetn 100% guaratee you can be assured it wont be a man like Obi. It will be a man that is acceptable and sellable nationally e.g a Dave Umahi. Obi is an ethnic and religious bigot, his candidacy can never fly in the North. Like I said i know for a fact that prominent Northerners were warned not to be VP to Obi. It took Obasanjo's intervention to find a mumu from the North to be his VP...a man with no political capital....because they all rejected him. |
