Elsueno:First of all he doesnt have GCE, his equivalent to GCE is what he used to gain admission to CSU, which is his diploma from Arthur Daley College Secondly, he does not have to submit his GCE even if he had one. His degree is above the minimum qualification, why are you not asking why Obi did not submit his degree? ..because he does not have to. See my post above in response to the r3tard who asked a similar question. |
JetApartment:are you an illiterate or were you just dropped as a child and hence suffering from brain damage? The reason Tinubu did not submit his alternative to SSCE is the same reason Obi did not submit his degree. They are not required to, you are only required to submit a certificate of your choice that meets the minimum requirement. many Nigerians (apart from those with obvious brain damage like you) need to go back to school to learn English. "Minimum" means school certificate or above if you like you submit GCE or equivalent, if you like submit OND,HND, Bachelors masters doctorate degree, if you like submit all, all you need is one that satisfies the requirement. Again even if you dont have school certificate the constitution says "or its equivalent" Section 318 (reproduced below) specifically defines what constitutes "school certificate or it's equivalent". Contrary to ignorant and uninformed opinion, "school certificate" is not secondary school certificate. According to the constitution, primary school certificate plus 10 yrs work experience is equivalent to school certificate. Furthermore it states categorically that if you don’t have a certificate of you can prove you ATTENDED secondary school up to school certificate level, you have met the requirements
|
JetApartment:What you displayed is your ignorance. Back in the day many people studied privately and obtained GCE outside of the school system. I don’t know if it still happens ( I am. Sure it does) but In fact it was very common until the 80s/90s that students would do WASC via their schools aand do GCE exams privately. It was common for even those of us in the formal school sector to do the GCE exams in the December preceding our WASc the following June. The added advantage was that you had 2 sources of results/certificates you could use to satisfy university entry requirements. This often came in handy if WASC did not release your result in a subject or you failed to get a credit in a subject in WASC but you had already passed it in GCE. I did both. Not everybody has WASC because not everyone went to formal school. GCE is outside the school system, you can study and sit for GCE at home without ever going to school. Even today, there are people in countries like the US and the Uk who do not go to formal schools and are “homeschooled”. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeschooling Afe Babalola is an example of someone who studied privately and sat for his exams privately in order to gain the O level or a level results required to gain admission to university in London. Finally his diploma from Arthur Daley college is the equivalent of WASC or SSCE. There is a reason the term “or equivalent” is used in the constitution. |
This thread shows how ignorant Nigerians are. The requirement is school certificate or it’s equivalent. “Or it’s equivalent” is defined in the constitution as work experience. Furthermore the requirement is a “minimum”. Which means if you have a higher qualification you are not required to render the lower qualification. You are required to tender any qualification that satisfies the minimum requirement. if you like submit ssce/wasc, if you like OND,HND, Bachelors, masters, doctorate. Any of them alone is enough. If you like submit all. The requirement is minimum primary school or it’s equivalent. |
The embarrassment is brought upon by you chasing shadows!!! That’s how you did last time with Buhari and School certificate. |
designking:Tinubu is only “fighting” it because when your enemy is making a mistake, distracted or heading down the wrong path, it is your duty to encourage him to believe he is on the right path. It is war strategy 101. Same thing when Obi left PDP, masterstroke of good fortune for Tinubu, did you hear him saying “what a blunder” ? If anything it gave him so much confidence he knew he didn’t have to bother attending any debates. They had done his job for him. The only time Tinubu was bothered was when they changed Naira. Again if your enemy is barking up the wrong tree it is your duty to encourage him to believe he is on the right path. By the time he realizes he has wasted his energies, the war is won or he is significantly disadvantaged. Tinubu has a weakness (everybody does) but the more time you spend on the wrong weakness the less time and energy you have to discover or focus on the real weaknesses. Did Trump not fight Obama over birth certificate for years, was is not towards the end of his tenure that he volountsrily showed the certificate by which time Trump was no longer a threat to him? There is no female like you said, he attended and graduated from CSU and if you know how the school system works abroad, the only previous schools that will be on his records will be Arthur Daley college, which is already in the public domain. You don’t apply for admission to university even in Nigeria and start to list your primary school on the form. |
DrGoodman:Shake your head at your own selective hypocrisy. When was Buhari found guilty or even indicted? Answer the question! He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Bigots!! |
DrGoodman:Perhaps you should ask (or tell us) why Obi is walking free while his lieutenants were caught with N250m of government money in cash in their trunk. Or why the MD of fidelity bank was arrested for receiving Dasukigate funds when he was only acting on the direct instructions of Peter Obi. |
InvertedHammer:Why make it easy for them? Did his lawyers have to use the word “purported”. You are angry, we get it but the court is not a place for emotion. Why is a lawyer being emotional? Does a lawyer not understand the difference? You don’t provide the petrol for someone who wants to burn you. I agree the case should haves been decided in a rerun in the cancelled PUs but the onus is on the lawyers to put forward a good case. This one is on the incompetence of Adebutu lawyers. They didn’t go to court saying they were rigged, they went to court saying “they said we were rigged” We need to stop our anyhowness in this country. The court is not a beer parkour or a meeting of elders where you can be imprecise in your language and they will make allowance for you. The grant can only grant what you ask. |
I have said it many times on Nairaland and I will keep saying it. Nigerians in general have a very poor grasp of English comprehension. We also confuse official language with informal language. The English language is a very precise language. A lot of our misunderstandings are due to our general poor English comprehension . The example I always use is “couple”. Many Nigerians use the word loosely to mean “a few”, officially and in law it means “2”. Anybody who has lived in England can testify that when even the most uneducated English man says “couple” even informally, he means “2”. A lot of our problems stem poor our ooor grasp of English. Another example is when they tell you minimum qualification is school leaving certificate and some will start arguing over degree while others go to the extent on forging degree certificates like thee guy from Bayelsa when they have a school leaving certificate. This ignorance and poor English comprehension will always betray you when you come across people who truly u derstand the language. Adebutu had no business losing that case. The cancelled votes were more than the margin of victory but the poor English capabilities of his lawyers failed him. If he or his lawyers were not emotional in the first place there was no need to use to word “purported”. It was an open and close case in favour of Adebutu till they used that word. I sometimes wonder about the intellectual capacity of the opposition as they keep shooting themselves in the foot. Now they will start to blame judiciary for their incompetence, emotionalism and lack of professionalism. |
KunleMax:Oga I have football to watch. This is a topic that was buried months ago. I don’t have time to argue over another man’s wealth. If I can’t make my own let me enjoy my life, I have ball to watch. |
KunleMax:I think you are getting carried away with the hype. In the 1980s when the Ibru’s were at their peak the whole of Coca Cola world wide was not worth $24b. Our entire federal budget in 1992 for example was less than $10b. Warren Buffet was only worth $3b in 1990. In 1992 the entire GDP of Nigeria was $42b! Having $100m in those days is like having $1b today. My personal opinion: no Nigerian was worth $1b uptill the 1990s except those who stole from government. The economy was just not big enough to make you a billionaire. Feeling or appearing to have stupendous wealth is. It the same as actually being worth $1b. Again I repeat $1b was not beans in the 70s to 90s when the Ibru’s were at their peak! $1b of 1970,1980 or 1990 is not $1b of 2023. Like many Nigerian businessmen of the time, their assets and businesses were mainly in Naira and we know what happened to the Naira. Devaluation eroded whatever wealth they had. Todays billion is not the same as $billion of the 80s. I personally doubt they ever reached the billion mark but I am willing to give the benefit of doubt but I am 100% sure they were never multi billionaires. Land was very cheap even uptill the early 2000s, it wouldn’t have cost more than $1m to buy the whole of ilashe beach at the time…if that. As for your comment about the American report, I can believe that because $1b today is approximately $100m in the 1980s. If it were based on that only Dangote would be a billionaire and then he would probably be about $1.5 max. Probably Rabiu and Mike would be jumping in and out of the billionaire index. So no matter the vastness of the business interests of the Ibru’s in the 1980s, they were nowhere close to Dangote. They would not have been billionaires in the 80s. Look at what Dangote empire is today, the countries he operates in, and yet in 1980s valuation, he probably would just managed to scrape the billionaire barrier and you think the Ibru’s were worth $1b in the 1980s…..with what? Businesses that were domestically focused and based on a Naira that lost 90% of its value in 10 years between 1982 and 1992? Even if they were (again I don’t believe they ever were) they lost the majority of their wealth because of the Naira. |
KunleMax:I say “might” because when the Ibru’s reigned $1b was hard to come by. We are talking about 70s and 80s, It’s today that everybody is a billionaire. The number of billionaires in the world were not many. Our entire revenue from oil was not even up to $15b in the 70s- 90s |
KunleMax:It wasn’t Michael |
KunleMax:The matter is probably subject to litigation or maybe it has been settled against him but one of the brothers once owned it, or bought it, when it was a worthless piece of land, of that I am sure. The plan was to turn it into a resort. |
ganisucks:Does Tinubu look like a man distracted? The only people who are distracted are those chasing shadows because it distracts them from their reality…which is that they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by not being able to come/start together and splitting their votes |
Nigerians (or Biafrans) are the ones disgracing Nigeria abroad. A man has a duplicate certificate, signed by the person who was in charge when the duplicate was issued but some people feel a duplicate must be signed by the person who issued the original 40 years ago. The university says the man was their student and graduated. If I go to my University today and ask for a copy or duplicate, or any thing to do with my records, is it the person occupying the position at the time the replacement/copy was issued whose signature will appear on the certificate, or the person that was there when I graduated years ago? This is the problem, some people are disgracing Nigeria with their daftness. These same people claim a clerk can’t make mistakes on your records and that our president is impersonating a woman…who is this woman that went to CSU that has no records and no relations, no trace , no nothing? The opposition are the ones disgracing Nigerians. Thankfully Americans are not new to this nonsense, after all they said Obama was a Muslim and was not born in America and had no birth certificate. Since some Nigerians like to copy everything American, I guess it’s no surprise they have copied their foolishness. These people are sore losers and the ones disgracing the country. You lost an election because you split your votes…deal with it. |
Deew22:Surely you mean C320? |
Stevosty:Awon omo ode. |
Stevosty:Stop listening to news from beer parkour, charly boy and arise TV. @plaindealer above has posted the affidavit submitted to the court by CSU where. They confirmed the certificate is genuine and explained why the signatures/ fonts seals etc are different. May you not ruin your life with daftness. |
sotall:You are daft. Is there gender on the certificate? Did CSU not confirm on oath that the certificate is genuine? May daftness not be your downfall…better say amen, it’s a prayer!!! |
discusant:Did you attend any school at all? Have you not read that CSU saiid on oath they do not keep copies of certificates and they have confirmed ther certificate presented to INEC is authentic. Clearly it is not only ATiku that is daft. |
aumeehn:It amazing that there are so many dullards in this country. …then again it’s probably not shocking |
Daftness galore! Have you ever heard of a Yoruba woman called Adekunle? |
aumeehn:Be waiting to see, awon ode! |
I swear Atiku is daft. Can He not get a replacement certificate? Did Tinubu not say some time ago that many of his academic certificates/documents were stolen when Abacha raided his home during NADECO?. If he asked for a replacement, which he must have because he submitted a certificate, is it the person who signed the original in 1979 that will sign or the person there when he requested a replacement? |
Morbeta11:I feel dirty for being on the same side of Obasanjo but he never asked them to stand up and honour him. He asked them to stand up and honour the governor who walked in…..and who is their boss!!! For the umpteenth time all Nigerian kings are retained and serve at the pleasure of their respective governors. They lost their “Kingdoms” to the British over a century ago. |
wunmi590:They used to, not anymore. If there are no foreigners in your university and no children of the elite, it’s usually an indication your degree is almost worthless. But Nigerians should feel free to continue protesting fee hikes. You get what you pay for. Those spending N10-40m a year to send their kids abroad are not money miss roads. They increase fees to N100k and they are protesting and wondering why no foreign students in your uni. |
onuman:You are now redefining the conversation. The conversation was that Amaechi was used and dumped. He wasn’t! He contested an election and lost and then decided to covertly back the opposition candidate who lost. My friend you are all over the place. You say he was used and dumped, then you say the above in bold. Which is which? Was he used and dumped or did he refuse to back Tinubu as you say in thee emboldened, in which case whose fault is it that he is out in the cold? Is it not from what you yourself just wrote, his personal choice? |
onuman:Amaechi was not used and dumped. Amaechi contested and was a sore loser. Instead of backing his party’s candidate, he decided to back Atiku. He played his cards wrong, he played the wrong hand and was outplayed. He is fully responsible for his current predicament. |
onuman:Amaechi was not used and dumped. Amaechi contested and was a sore loser. Instead of backing his party’s candidate, he decided to back Atiku. casualobserver: casualobserver: |
Racoon:i hope you read the part that said "Rivers APC" and "an ally of the former transportation minister". I hope you know their faction worked for Atiku. I have said it many times here. If your enemy is making a mistake, do not correct him but encourage him. The more your enemy is distracted, the better for you.
