yewit37486:I am not seeing this from a political perspective. I am probably one of the most objective posters on Nairaland. Again I say you are the one missing the point…..there is. Nothing you can do about it under the law. Secondly since you admit. You are not familiar with the case, maybe you should resist the temptation to comment on matters you are not conversant with? As per the emboldened, Again I say many Nigerians speak but lack basic English comprehension. You are arguing a matter I never said, where did I say it is fine? Please show me or admit in your bias you prejudged or admit your English failed you. I am responsible for what I say, I am not responsible for your inadequacies in English. If I say “come back in a couple of minutes”. and you come back in 10 minutes and I tell you you are late, it’s your fault. “Couple” is specific, it means “2”, it’s not my problem if in your half baked Nigerian English, you interpreted couple to mean “few”. If anyone is biased and Unobjective her, it is clearly you. You are accusing him of certificate forgery, the university has said he attended and graduated. Why would a man forge his certificate knowing there was controversy over it before? You are the ones accusing, you are the ones to prove. Why am I joining issues over accusations that are not proven? Same way you accused him of drug dealing when the US government said officially no there were so convictions or criminal records. You have a track record of fake stories, propaganda and manufacturing B.S why would anyone take you guys seriously? When you have something to prove, fine. Until then I am only saying as far as this election cycle is concerned, it does not matter anymore. |
yewit37486:My friend please use your brains. Even if he is a drug dealer, even if he lied on everything in his form, even if his not a Nigerian, even if there Bola Tinubu is not his name, there is nothing you can do now. You cannot introduce at the Supreme Court what you did not introduce at the PEPT. Why is it so hard for so called educated people to understand this very basic concept? If you wanted to prove you won tryouts should have provided evidence at the PEPT, if you wanted to disqualify him you should have had all the evidence you need before the PROT began. This is what I mean when I say chasing shadows instead of strategizing for the next election. Tinubu is president because he has been plannning and anticipating the moves of the opposition years ago. |
Udopasa:Like I always say, many of the problems of Nigerians are rooted in poor English comprehension. It is difficult to communicate with someone if you say something and they hear something else. Where did I in my statement say all northerners are good politicians, or all Ibos are good businessmen or all Yorubas are good administrators or that is all they are good at or they alone are the good or the best in that field and no one else? I think you’ll find your problem is poor comprehension possibly laced with a deficiency of intellect. It is people like you that will read “minimum qualifications: school leaving certificate” and start submitting forged degree nobody asked you for, like David Lyon of Bayelsa. |
jude33084:I am interested in someone who can turn this country around. I couldn’t care less if he has never seen the walls of a school or not. If he didn’t go to school but has shown a track record that he is the best on offer then he is the man. With due respect to the 3 main candidates, Obi was the least qualified in terms of capacity. He was 8 years a governor, what did he leave behind as a legacy? The Awolowo that is constantly cited today was only in office for 5 years!! 8 yrs is enough to know if a man has what it takes…obi doesn’t. I don’t like PDP but even Atiku is way ahead of Obi. He has shown capacity to bring in the right people like ElRufai, NOI etc. Who did Obi bring in his 8 years as governor? If we are talking education, Obi is the least educated of the 4. This in addition to having by a country mile, the worst track record in office. So please rest! |
MrSly:The election has been won. This is how Atiku spent all his energies chasing shadows with Buhari’s certificate after he lost leaving g him with no time to reflect aand strategize for the 2023 elections. What happened? He lost again in 2023. There is nothing you are going to introduce now that can affect the decision of the Supreme Court. Even if Chicago says the certificate is forged it is too late to introduce it as evidence. The Supreme Court can o Lu decide based on what was I introduced into evidence at the PEPT. You guys think you are embarrassing Tinubu but you are just making a mockery of all Nigerians on the international stage. You didn’t lose this election because of forfeiture or certificate or INEC, you lost because you split your votes into 4 camps…PDP, NNPP,LP & G5. |
ladididanlami:The headline will be that they refused to confirm his certificate. It won’t be they did confirmed he graduated from CSU! They’ve stated reasons why they can’t confirm….they don’t keep records of certificates. In any event I dont know what the point of all this is, it makes no difference to the election Al tribunal or Supreme Court. |
Udopasa:Remind me again, who is minister for trade, industry and investment? Who was the minister next to Tinubu in India where the $14b investment deals were signed? Where is that minister from? Secondly there is a difference between being an entrepreneur and being the administrators/ managers of the enterprise. There is a reason why despite being entrepreneurs, there is no officially recognized Ibo billionaire. Your businesses are generally very haphazard and chaotic. Just look at INNOSON, how many models does he have? Every day he is introducing a new model, even Toyota doesn’t introduce models the way INNOSON does but does he even have a branch showroom or service Centre in the commercial capital Lagos? It’s one thing to be an entrepreneur, it’s another to be properly administered. Dangote is an entrepreneur but he hires competent administrators mangers and staff, not I will put my brother there to manage. |
Udopasa:The north are the masters of politics, the Ibos commerce, the Yorubas administration. In a utopian environment, the north would control politics, the Ibos commerce and the yorubas the civil service and everybody would know his place. Problems arise when you want to leave your area of competence to venture into arenas you have shown over 60 years not to have competence. Yorubas may be in “power” but Yorubas are not the best politicians, if anything we are In Power at the pleasure of the North due to the superior political Intelligence and understanding of the North. So any yoruba man gloating is only displaying the intelligence of a simpleton. What Nigeria needs right now are good public administrators, it’s only natural in trying to fill round holes with round pegs, to recruit from where they are abundant. |
bennybuhari:Wetin Jay jay win? Which club did he play for? I was equally hoping to see JJ, then I asked myself th previous questions. He wasted his talents with mediocre clubs like Fernanache and Bolton and a national team that did not set the world alight on the international stage. |
Duru009:Let Gbadebo give you commissioner slots. |
XAUBulls:i agree, I just wish Nigerians would stop seeing the US as our friends or saviours and stop licking their asses or masturbating to any news of western leaders embracing Nigeria. they are not doing it to help us. They effectively abandoned us ever since the shale revolution and they became self sufficient in oil production. that should teach us a lesson. Nigerians need to understand these guys do not want our progress. They dont want the progress of anyone but themselves. 2 good examples 1. The EPl has suceeded by destroying football leagues all over the world particularly Africa who shares the same time zone. As soon as the Saudi league auches an attempt to grow their own league they cry foul but theyve been stealing other countries best players and viewers for the last 2 or 3 decades. 2. USA had no problem with China when China was a country to subcontarct labour for cheap products and their homemade products were inferior quality. Now that the Chinese are competing with them for car, semi conductors, planes lithium batteries etc, they are crying foul and want to sanction or hit anything Chinese with tarrifs. Same thing with germany, only today they announced they have a problem with the flood of chinese EV that will soon start flooding the German and EU market...when they were flooding china with German and European cars they had no problem. Point is contrary to the slave mindset of many Nigerian western larkeys, they dont want our progress and they will do anything to keep us depending on them, it is not in their interests for us to be self sufficient talk less developed and industrialised. I just wish the average Nigerian would start thinking in terms of what is best fior Nigeria instead of thinking the slave masters have any benefit or interest in helping him. |
DeLaRue:The US is not in the business of helping anybody but themselves. Their interest in Nigeria is occasioned by the sudden realisation that China in particular is gaining influence in countries they had abandoned economically. Particularly since the exit of George Bush Jr, the USA's interest in Africa is primarily military, so called human rights and "sustaining democracy". The last US president to do anything significant to assist the growth of Africa economically was George Bush with the AGOA act. America is only interested in Nigeria because they know if they dont act others will gain a foothold and if indeed Nigeria is on an upward trajectory, they cant afford to be left behind and lose influence to the likes of China. its not about Nigeria to them it's about China and other rising economic powers. |
Fahvvy:And I think you should ask your mother why she didn’t insist on a condom |
Fahvvy:The point still stands. You don’t come on a thread chastising people for advising people not to go and then advise people to go. It’s hypocritical!!! The things is most people giving advice have no experience of living abroad…..have you ever lived abroad that you are giving advice? |
Fahvvy:Advising people to go is just as bad as advising people not to go. Everybody’s circumstance is different. Let people make up their own minds. I lived abroad for 2 decades, I had a fantastic job, I still have a house there, I am a citizen so I can go back if I want but I came back voluntarily and I will never go back. Nigeria is hard but for me there is peace, sense of belonging, I have in Nigeria I never had in the UK. Eventually you will realize these things matter. |
PrinceOfLagos:Slave mentality on display. Your francophone neighbors are fighting for true independence, you have independence and are fighting to be enslaved. Nonsense! |
oyatz:It’s not enough. If you didn’t say they will win, what are we talking about wasting our time for then? |
oyatz:Although I neither support LP or PDP, I couldn’t care less what happens to Obanikoro. I live in Eti-osa and he is useless, you only hear from him every 4 years. I voted for him only because I was there to vote for Tinubu. Although my Pu is not one of those affected, I will not leave my house just to vote for Obanikoro. I am just stating the obvious, don’t be like Obidients who refuse to see the obvious. If you have followed my electoral predictions I have been spot on. Election is a numbers game, if the maths doesn’t add up it doesn’t add up. The mathematics is not in favour of catching up with the LP fellow. The same fate that befell LP and PDP in the presidential election will befall both Banky and Koro. Their votes will be split and there are not enough votes at stake to catch the Guy, APc is not going to get all the votes, neither is PDP. There are 40 polling units, the maximum number of voters per polling unit is 750. Therefore the total theoretical maximum votes at stake if all voters turn up is 30,000 to be split among at least 3 candidates. Obanikoro need to win with a majority over LP guy of 7,200, while Banky W needs to get 5,400 more votes than him. To get that sort of margin in a 3 horse race out of 30,000 votes at stake you need close to a 100% turn out. Never in the history of Nigerian elections at ANy level have we had 50% turn out talk less 100%. 50% turn out is only 15,000 voters and yet you need to get more than 7,200 and 5,400 more votes than the guy…..how? If you examine the figures you will realize that even in a 50% turn out, you will need about 80-90% of the votes to win…..in a 3 horse race? That’s not going to happen the elections were cancelled because Eti-osa has a strong LP (aka PDP in disguise) presence, if they don’t vote for LP this time because they really do t know the guy and he is not Ibo, they will go back to their roots. LP voters may switch to Banky W but neither are switching to APC, APCs only hope is mobilizing their base to turn out but it won’t be enough. |
Raskimonojendor:The gap is too much to catch him. If they were APC or PDP strongholds then possibly but we are talking Eti-osa, considered the demographics of people who live there, there is no hope at best the votes will be split…still no hope. Plus who is motivated to come out and vote just for house of rep? If no be say them join them together for presidential elections would anyone even come out to vote for obanikoro and Banky W? |
Raskimonojendor:The gap is too much to catch him. |
jcross19:You don’t seem to understand. Again I say 90% of our problems is we don’t really understand English. Where were they classified as a state? Even then what was classified to be treated “like” a state? If you answer these questions you will realize that it is the territory not the inhabitants whether indigene or immigrant that was to be treated in the application of the constitution “as if ” or “like” it were a state. If you truly understand English you will know once it is said “as if “ or “like” the i”unambiguous inference is that it is “not” the same. You are like your brother is not the same as you are your brother. Treat him “like” your brother in fact implies explicitly that he is not your brother. If he was your brother, they wouldn’t say like your brother would they? They would say he is your brother. So the fact that “like” is used implies they are not the same. However in certain aspects you are requested to treat him as if he was your brother. The fate of the indigenous people of the FCt has been sealed by the FCT decree of 1976. Please read I have shared the link to it in a previous post. FCT has been acquired and it belongs to the federal government not the indigenes, again please read the FCT act. They are to be compensated monetarily for their land, therefore they have no rights in the FCT anymore. The FCT law also prescribes how the FCT is to be governed. It is to be governed by the president and the National Assembly, again read the act. Going back to what is to be treated as if it were a state, it is the territory or the citizens or residents either whether indigenous or immigrants. The rights and laws of the federation apply to all residents of FCt equally whether you are indigenous or not. Again I repeat, the only thing former FCT indigenes can lay claim to is the compensation they are owed under the law. Again, read the act. They have absolutely no say over the FCT that the man from Zaria, Ibadan, Onitsha or Calabar does not have. They are displaced people by law and their land no longer belongs to them in all ramifications. That is why they were compensated or are to be compensated. You cannot be compensated or have the right to be compensated and then still claim rights and ownership. Like I said before, as far as the law is concerned, they are indigenes in name only just like our traditional rulers are kings in name only. That from which you derive the rights to be called an indigene or to preside over the affairs of the FCT or to be called King has been taken away from you or lost. That you are still recognized sentimentally as an indigene or King does not mean you have the rights and privileges that you once had. jmoore:Relax air peace will fly |
Programmer47:You are daft!!….. the same daftness exhibited by your quest to win the presidency by splitting g your votes, the same daftness exhibited by thinking g a minority can win a national election by antagonizing and alienating the majority, the same daftness exhibited by thinking you can win a case in court on emotion without providing proof of your claim. The same daftness exhibited in thinking you can blackMail people to do your will. The same daftness on show again here. |
chymeze:I always say, Nigerian speak English but do not understand English. “Like a state”. If you truly understand English is NOT the same as “is a state”. The act creating the FCT clearly states that the FCT will be administered by the federal government. Please read. I have posted extracts and the link to the full act above. The law that created the FCt states explicitly who is to govern it. |
Programmer47:This is posted not for your benefit but for the benefit of those who actually seek knowledge and would like to talk from a position of knowledge and not ignorance or emotion. Indigenes have no claim to the land or any say in the administration of the FCT. It is there in black and white. The only claims indigenes have is claims for compensation. This is the law, if they like they can go to court and embarrass themselves like Obingoos 1. Creation of Federal Capital Territory for Nigeria [4th February, 1976] (1) There is hereby established a capital territory in and for the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be designated as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (hereinafter referred to as the "Federal Capital Territory" .(2) The Federal Capital Territory shall consist of the area described in Part II of the First Schedule to this Act. [First Schedule.] (3) The area contained in the Capital Territory shall, as from the commencement of this Act, cease to be a portion of the States concerned and shall henceforth be governed and administered by or under the control of the Government of the Federation to the exclusion of any other person or authority whatsoever and the ownership of the lands comprised in the Federal Capital Territory shall likewise vest absolutely in the Government of the Federation. ……………… 6. Compensation payable (1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any other enactment or by any srule of law, compensation payable in respect of any land comprised in the Federal Capital Territory shall be assessed and computed in accordance with the provisions of this Act. (2) In computing compensation payable under this Act, account shall be taken of any building or crops on the land acquired for the purpose of this Act, so however that any compensation payable shall be as respects‐ (a) land affected by this Act, for an amount equal to the total rent paid by the lessee over the period between the date of the execution of the lease and the date of its determination by the Authority together with interest at the bank rate between the last‐mentioned date and the date of payment of compensation; (b) building on such land, for the amount of the actual cost of construction of the building (less any depreciation) together with interest at the bank rate over the period between the date of acquisition of such building and the date of payment of compensation; (c) crops on such land, for an amount equal to the fair market value of such crops, and the cost mentioned in the foregoing provisions of this subsection shall be such as may be determined by the Authority. (3) Any person who claims any right or interest in any land comprised in the Federal Capital Territory shall submit, in writing, particulars of his claims to the Executive Secretary on or before the expiration of twelve months from the date of commencement of the order made under section 2 of this Act or such longer period as the President may, either generally or in relation to any particular claim or claims, prescribe by notice published in the Federal Gazette. (4) No claim for compensation shall be entertained by the Authority unless a written notice of the claim in accordance with subsection (3) of this section is served on the Authority within the period specified in the said subsection. https://www.placng.org/lawsofnigeria/laws/F6.pdf |
Programmer47:That’s why you went to court and the judges tongue lashed your “never lost a case” SANS for embarrassing the legal profession. Read the law you won’t. You will be arguing based on emotion. Then law is very clear….FCT. no longer belongs to the indigenes. You can argue they have not received their full compensation or relocation as per the law created ating the FCT but the land is no longer theirs. Reading will not make you go blind and familiarization with the law may actually stop you making further asses of yourselves….if that is possible. |
Programmer47:Like I said go and read the land use act and the FCT act. You clearly haven’t because if you did and you had any shame or intelligence you will not have responded or responded in the manner you did. The reason why you buffooons always lose cases in court is you argue from a point of view of sentiment not law. Contrary to what your contemporaries tell you, research and reading does not kill. |
Programmer47:You are daft! Go and read the FCT act of 1976 as well as the land use act. I doubt you will because if you had heeded my advice to google FCT indigenes resettlement and compensation you would not have responded with your gibberish. clearly morons like you have a problem with reading. |
Programmer47:Please feel free to use google and stop posting like the ignoramus you are. FCT indigenes signed an agreement under which they agreed to be relocated to neighboring states in return for compensation. Agreement is agreement. |
jcross19:There is nothing like FCT indigene anymore, they can’t eat their cake and have it they were relocated and compensated in order that the FCT could be created. By law there is nothing like an FCT indigene, they’ve been bought out and settled long ago. It is like traditional rulers claiming sovereignty. The British had overthrown them and they have lost their kingdoms, that they are still recognized for sentimental and cultural reasons does not mean they have any Kingdoms or can start claiming rights to kingdoms. There is no mention of traditional rulers in the constitution because they don’t exist in the eyes of federal law It is only states that recognize them again for cultural sentiment and administrative reasons. Same with FCT indigenes. |
ElSudani:Thank you o! |
okorogodwin4:You are not a thorn in our flesh. We are all moving on without you. You are the o rd who have to leave your area to survive. We just see your mindset and actions as amusement…like watching a freak show. You are the ones wailing not us so how are you a thorn? |
