Its been a year and 11 days since i left naija for the uk to study..Justwise was instrumental to my success and I'm surprised he has still kept up the good work all these while. I am almost done with my masters project and I have been doing excellently so far. Just a word of advice to those coming over for their masters.. Do not be carried away by the party's and clubbing, Be the best you can be in your chosen field and strive for nothing less than excellence..sooner or later someone would notice your hardwork and the rest is history. Your life would very well be on a pedestal. Good luck and God bless you all mates. |
kunlewoye: I was wondering where you disappeared to o. We'll be with you this weekend by God's grace. On a side note, should one get a jacket from here or wait till one gets there. I don't want to get off the plane and freeze o....There'r loads of jackets in clothing shops here...but u might wanna wear one for the cold though..I remember seeing someone shivering on the plane even with the blanket she was given..Summer is gradually fading and it's getting proper cold these days...so do the maths. |
Thanks Cavenchy.
No qualms mate |
Hello. Please a friend seeks a sample of consent letter to show that his dad is financing his living cost. Please does anyone have a sample that he or she used and worked? If yes so I can drop his email here for it to be forwarded. Also, what does one do with Section 6.4 of the Self Assesment form, for those who have already paid their course fees in full. Prompt answers would be highly appreciated.
There isn't a particular format, His dad should know what to write, just address the letter to The British High Commission stating the acknowledgement of His Decision to finance his son's living cost and any fees left to be paid. The son on his own part should also include the birth certificate showing the relationship between him and his father with the bank statement and oanda conversion rates. *Its always better for parents to pay the equivalent funds for living costs(or slightly higher due to flunctuating exchange rates) into the students account especially if the student in question is an adult, as this strengthens the application. for section 6.4; Tick (X) the box. |
How's everyone doing on here, i knw i've been off a while but settling in isn't quite easy, well thanks to God i'm almost set for studies here in the uk. @Justwise I think your nairaland name should be Just-Great. S/O to all who've recently got their visas and all my other folks helping out with advice. |
kunlewoye: I got my visa today! Thanks people, you have been really helpful. Main issues I had to tackle were those that pertained to errors on my WAEC cert and not having my old passport which was withheld by the issuing authority during its validity extension. For the former, I got an affidavit from the Federal High court, included the old statements of result for both WAEC and NECO, also stated it in my application. For the latter, I just explained that I did a validity extension becoz my old passport would not cover the duration of my program and the old one was not returned to me. Never forgetting all the advice and suggestions from the guyz on here; Justwise et al. Yippeeeee!!!congrats |
Olupraise: Eyin Oluwa Logo ooofinally, congrats |
Donxavier: Yes Finallycongrats.. |
Dharkchild: I got my visa today. Picked it up at VFS lekki. I submitted just the documents started on my CAS that's my degree certificates only.Congrats dharkchild, pack ur bags and balm up, cos its gonna get proper cold soon. |
Donxavier: Hey, where have you been? When y'all get the visas una go just disappear forget everybody for here. Hope you good though.Very funny guy, but I got my visa long before and I've still been supporting and advising, read through the thread. Had to take some time off to make travelling arrangements so don't worry I'm still with y'all. |
Hi everyone, hope everything's going alright, and the visa's are rolling in. Just wishing everyone here success, while packing your bags balm up oh, cos the cold here is something else, the land where the cars turn on the heater and not ac, and the water is never refrigerated. For those who've already got visa, safe trip and all the best in your endeavours. |
Good to see goodnews from visa applicants on the thread. Kudos to all who've taken time to address some of the issues presented. EmmaIK: Thanks. Does that mean I can apply on the 10th?When exactly is your start date? You can apply 10th August. Just walk into your bank very early and print the statement for the 28 day period, then quickly get access to the internet and use the closing balance stated to verify the pounds equivalent on oanda.com, print out the conversion page, Then take your other required documents and head for the visa processing center. If you're applying from lagos, processing times is likely to take longer than applying from abuja. So u should start counting 15 working days after application depending on when you receive the alert of ur application being dispatched to abuja. If you apply on friday 10th, start counting 15 working days from monday 13th (though you are likely to get a decision on your application before the 15-day period runs out depending on application traffic and issues spotted on your application status), then check the corresponding 15th working day(excluding weekends and any public holidays within the month). If your school would have already started enrollment before that date, then you have to contact your school informing them of possible delays in your visa acquisition and request for a late enrollment date to avoid anxiety. |
Olupraise: PLEASE HOUSE KINDLY CLARIFY ME ON THIS.3/08. |
ibudes: one other thing my transcript was address to one uni in Asia but could not make it. can I submit for my visa application bearing another school addressHave you been issued cas? What documents are stated there? If the transcript wasn't among the documents used to offer you admission, I don't know if you can submit a transcript that was addressed to another school, because then again these might arouse some questions. the first thing on anyone's mind would be to detach the addressed page but then again this is mere speculation. if any others on this thread have done this before and gotten visa, pls post it here. |
MeNutty: i applied in Ikeja, LagosI wonder what they did with the other ones most of us submitted. Well if the clerk did that, then I suppose you have nothing to worry about. |
tbaba98: Gotten my student visa today thanks to u all that contributed to d success of my applicationCongrats, pack your bags. |
ibudes: men the I'D card does not have signature and some one said I should get my birth certificate from NPC stating the four names ojokwu Samuel oge junior. I spoke to my university they say there is nothing they can do as the name on my statement is the name I was admitted with.Like I said earlier, you have your transcript. And it bears your date of birth as stated in your passport, so you don't need any other proof. Your ID card bears your picture and has the matric/reg no. stated on your result and transcript. Just fill 'Junior' in section 2.3 of the VAF 9. As for the Birth Certificate, I'm not of the opinion that you should get another birth certificate when you already have one which you probably used in applying for e-passport. But the choice is up to you, if you submit any forged documents, you are looking at a 10years ban. |
This is a really nice thread, brings back memories. Mine was in my childhood, was on Aero flight, boarding the plane and fixing the seat belt wasn't strange cos I was excited and I had my mum sitted beside me. The Hostess was nice and asked us to make our choice on their available menu(snacks though). The memorable part about the flight(and I really enjoyed this part) was when the plane moved to the runway and was charging up with a loud roar(I wish someone took a picture of the grin on my face). Shortly after, I felt the adrenaline rush as it dashed at top speed across the runway at possibly 100m/s before tearing through the atmosphere in a mid-projectile fashion. I remember looking at the clouds and when the pilot mentioned we were a few minutes from landing, I looked down below seeing the beautiful landscape and the cars that appeared very little. Landing wasn't much fun though, can remember the tires bouncing momentarily on the runway before it finally reduced momentum. My 2nd flight wasn't too pleasant with Dana, they served us apples and some other snack I can't remember while we were entering the plane. Then we all had sharp pains in our ears throughout the flight. Thank God it was a short local flight, dunno wat would have happened if the sharp pain came on an international flight. |
MeNutty: Gave d officer two of my passports to place on my form, buh she colleected just one and returned one, hope dis isn't gonna be an issue as have just read dat am supposd to use twoDid you apply in Abuja or Lagos? |
kdavis: Abeg make una see me see solution o,my school has refused to issue my CAS documents, can u guess why? They have refused my Internet printout TOEFL IBT result sheet!they re asking me to order my original certificate, the one containing my picture from TOEFL,and this will take 4weeks minimum to get to Africa, this is absurd o,na now they one tell me,ONE month to my resumption date...abeg guys wat can I do,how can I convince them that the TOEFL internet printout is acceptable?I suggest you send an email to your school, informing them of the time implications and make enquiries to find out the enrollment dealine dates on your course, then send an email to Toefl, requesting for an express delivery if possible(accepting any financial costs required). All the best. |
ibudes: my student I'D has just two names ojokwu Samuel and the Statement of result has three names ojokwu Samuel junior and bank account has ojokwu Samuel oge. secondly hope I can use two bank statement as u have money in both account to cover my entire living expences and balance fees. will it be wise if I get a court affidavits saying that ojokwu samuel junior is also know as ojukwu Samuel ogeif your signature on your original student iD card is same with signature on your passport, that's a plus You can use two bank statements on these conditions: 1.Both accounts are in your name and you are the principal signatory. 2.You started the 28 day count same day, and printed them out same day. 3. Throughout the 28 day period, the sums of both cummulative balances never dropped below the ukba required. 4. Both bank statements are attached to your application. Getting a sworn affidavit is best for serious issues, since you didn't change name and there are no corrections to be made on any document due to an error, neither did you lose any document. I don't see why u should get an affidavit. If anyone else can advice more on that it would be most welcomed. |
ibudes: nothing happened o it was I was getting my e-passport during the process I was asked to include another name that junior was not a name and I added my native OGE to change the junior. I will try and get a letter from my school to that effect. as for the affidavits can it be from any court I mean either high court or from customary court. please give me the complete address of ECO so my school can address it to them. my transcript has the junior as the middle name and passports has the oge as the middle name.If you have your transcript, then I don't think you need any other proof, as long as your date of birth on the transcript tallies with that on your passport, you could also include your waec too(I'm guessing u have a good grade in English) if the date of birth and your face are in order. Then just go ahead and state the other name you are known by (Junior) in section 2.3 of VAF 9 form. Then include your student ID card (if you still have it, your picture is clear and your validity date tally's with your grad date on transcript, if your signature on your original student iD card is same with signature on your passport, that's a plus).. If you still want to get the letter though to back it up, The ECO's address has been stated previously on this thread. Since you didn't change name and there are no errors, you don't need an affidavit |
kunlewoye: Yes, he did collect and staple them to one of the forms, can't remember which, though, and yes, he was careful to staple on the sides of photos; one to the top right corner and the other to the bottom right corner. When I got to the 1st stage of submission where they give u d folder for your docs, the lady jst removed the photos carefully but I really don't know what she did with, or wher she placed, them as I didn't open that folder @ all till I finished with biometrics. If there was a problem I guess she wld av called my attention to it.Its either she removed it to apply the gum, or there's some other process for the photo e.g scanning, separate parceling.e.t.c. With all you've stated so far, pack ur bags, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get visa. Cheers. |
kennyGGG: Cavenchy you are doing a great job here. What advise would you give someone who wants to liquidate his 3million Naira from fixed deposit into normal savings acct that also serves as salary acct 4days to printing out bank statement. Won't that look like cash logement, even when it isn't ?Under the current points based system(pbs), The ukba doesn't require Tier 4 student visa applicants to provide proof of source of funds, all they are interested in is that your account has the required maintenance and course fees held for a period of 28 days prior to visa application (with time period between date of closing balance on statement and visa application not exceeding a month). Therefore you can lodge in any amount at anytime into your savings acct, as long as the balance held for 28days is not at any point within the 28 day count, less than the amount you are required to show. |
omopapa: Someone pls help attempt my questn above, thanks! Patiently waiting...Read through the posts on this thread, similar cases have been treated before. |
ibudes: the name on my statement is ojukwu Samuel junior and the name on my passport is ojukwu Samuel oge that is the difference. what are ur advice on this. What really happened? Did you change your name? If you did, get an affidavit to support this. If you didn't, there is a part on the visa form where u are asked if there are any other names you are known by, state the name there and if possible obtain a letterheaded letter addressed to the British High Commision from the student affairs unit of your Nigerian university stating clearly that you (full names appended) are a bonafide graduate of that school and the result you hold is solely yours. Alternatively, if your transcript bears the exact name on your passport, include this in your application and your student identification card. Under no circumstances should any agent provide u with fake documents to be submitted, trust me they'll get the truth from your university during v.c(verification check) and the result is 10years ban. |
ibudes: the middle name on my passport does not appear on my statement of result.hope it will not be a problem. If the middle name on your passport is not printed on your original statement of result at all, it's not a problem. You'll only raise eyebrows, if the middle name on your statement is completely different from the middle name on your passport, in which case, including appropriate documents showing change of middle name will be able to quell any suspicions should a verification check be conducted. |
kunlewoye: Well, my Waec cert and 1st deg cert were stated in my CAS bt I included evrything I used in getting the admission.Well, your application is in already, just hope for the best, in my opinion i don't think you'll be denied if the holes left by the staple pin does not obstruct/conceal your facial features, during my application the uniformed personnel mentioned gum, if in your case the steward used a staple, you can be sure he took proper care in stapling the edges without boring pin holes on your image, as some everyday people do when stapling their photos themselves. So there's no problem. |
Visa applicants should be aware that the responsibility of convincing the ECO that you are genuinely applying for the purpose you stated(in this case, to study), Lies entirely on the applicant. Therefore, It is strongly advised that every applicant includes all documents that can assist/help convince the ECO beyond reasonable doubt that He/She is genuinely entitled to a visa. You will not be refused for including only the documents on the cas, but yet again many have been refused for other reasons, mostly on issues which they failed to clarify/satisfy the ECO with appropriate documents. Note: that you have got more convincing to do if you've been previously denied or when your documents need extra proof of authenticity. Before filling your forms, your best buddies are those pdf documents on the righthand side of the ukba applying outside the uk web page; Tier4migrant Guidelines and supporting documents. |
tbaba98: pls if I attachUr application will only be refused if the passport photo attached doesn't meet the ukba standard(refer to the ukba website for this), some visa applications require just one form. But for Tier4 student visas, two forms are involved. Therefore two passport photographs. The vfs uniformed personel announces the process at the vfs center, this includes you arranging your photocopies of every document to be submitted except the bank statement, then attaching the passport photo at the top right corner of each form. Therefore, its best to attach two, and I suggest u take your passport photo at the center or environs to avoid mistakes with inexperienced photographers who might give u the wrong size or digitally enhance (photoshop) the photo which would result in rejection. |
tbaba98: ok thanks just wanna be sureDo not staple, use gum, u can get the paper gum from those uniformed personel in the vfs application center. U can attach on both(at the top right corner of the forms). |
Gadgetfreakzz: . I submitted my application at ikeja on the 6th of july, I got an SMS around 3.00am this morning dat my application is readyCongrats. Pack ur bags |

and then Special mention to ell77. The part 1 of this thread was it for me. It just motivated me to go get the Tier 4 pdfs and read them and that was it. I can now take a well deserved break from this thread
