Unblockable: Anybody who does rubbish should be rubbished. I believe the west won't support him like others would support their sons and daughters even in their corrupt practicesOn point. If he did the crime, then he should do the time. MAYOWAAK: Jimoh Ibrahim arrested for this. Jimoh Ibrahim arrested for that. But he never gets prosecuted.I think he should just be jailed once and for all. And if in the course of his jail term, he is discovered to still have more crimes committed, then those should be brought up and added to his current jailed term, not concurrently sha o, so that he'll probably rot in there. |
Howdy. I have 900k for this baby, and serious too. What d'you say? |
waldigit :Great ideas but with some reservations. Before you say jack, some people will move in their properties and start living there. Worse still, it'll be good hideouts and great spots for miscreants and public nuisance - purse-snatchers, life-snatchers, kidnappers, etc (list isn't endless) - who'll have a field day to showcase their vices. Station subway guards and install CCTV cams, you say? Well, how uncorrupted has LASTMA and the NPF gotten, and how many high ranking 'daylight crimes' has Nigerian justice system successfully prosecuted un serve as deterrents? Your guess is as good as mine. |

ziccoit: A consultant Pharmacist given drugs to the patient? Or advising the Drs on the prescribed medications? This is a new thing world over.Well, this country is known for promoting mediocrity. Hence a reason why someone will be comfortably vociferous about changing doctors' prescription to "pharmacists' prescription". And probably it's the pharmacists that now stay in the ward monitoring the patients to know how effective the medications work to know when to apply the clinical acumen. Or maybe the nurses and doctors wil wait for the pharmacist's prescription giving a go ahead to administering rescucitative medications to a patient in the brink of shock or one having a cardiac. Oh no, this is gonna be interesting. At least the relatives' beating will no more be restricted or at best, it'll be shifted from the doctors and nurses to the pharmacist. So bring it on joor!!! |
Tommybob: why wont they administer wrong drugs, when they are taking up the job of a pharm? Smh for them.... This is just the beginning.... Let the pharm do their job..You're obviously very ignorant, even a pharmacist that knows his onions will agree with me. Pray tell, why does drug commercials always say "if symptoms do not abate in 2 days, pls consult your physician" or why do drug dispensary manuals always have the caveat "prescription is subject to the physician's decision" on the first pages? Oh, I get it. To you, a physician is also a pharmacist, right? Carry on, smart boy! talktimi: Unfortunately, Nigerian hospitals are now a sham (mostly) though there are some pretty good doctors & nursesUnfortunately as true as Nigerian universities have now become glorified high schools even with the efficient manpower it has, all because of decrepit structures, obsolete equipments resulting from government neglect over time. Majority in this thread will agree to this, including the poster that claimed a doctor refused admission due to LACK of bed - mind you if the patient had been admitted on the floor by the doctor (an apparently inhumane and unsightly state for a human being) - this same poster would have still come to this forum and accuse the doctor of being wicked enough to "admit his patient on the floor". Someone who'll also agree is the dude who claimed his patient was referred to another private hospital due to lack of beds in the public hospital - even though he has the privilege that the pregnant woman did not have of being directed to an alternative place of assured clinical expertise - a "concerned and humane" handling that still did not stop him from hurling insults at these people. However I can guarantee you that if the health workers were to declare strike in that sector in a bid to force the government to upgrade public hospital facilities for the sake of all the accusers on this forum, you can be assured that within 24hrs of the strike, the pummelling and blows from the "accusers" will turn to be directed towards the doctors, nurses, and other members of the health team. It's then you'll start to hear mantras like "they're just acting like they're gods", "they too like money", "they should go back to managing the few equipments they have joor, afterall they're trained to save lives". And your government, knowing how nigerians are wired, and capitalising on those, not-well-thought-out, sentiment and hatred-driven mantras, will take it from there and start their own trademark mantra of "Please think of your patients and get back to work". But never, never will they talk about addressing the problems that warranted the strike in the first place. The decay and the decrepitude therefore continues. Meanwhile, all I've seen here are people waiting for the slightest chance to hurl stones at the doctors and the nurses akin to what those relatives did, however unjustified such actions may be. They have never really paused to think of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, people like doctors, nurses and lab scientists that lost their lives when they contracted lassa virus from treating patients during the last outbreak, people like the doctor who in the line of duty was killed by insurgents in the north few months ago, or is it the hundreds living with, or dying from infections like HIV, hepatitis contracted from caring the patients under their care. I just can't make out why some Nigerians passionately hate and vilify these guys so much. |

Reported by PremiumTimes. The wife of the embattled former chairman of the Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms, Abdulrashid Maina, on Wednesday stormed her husband’s office in Abuja, in the company of a female accomplice, to beat Mr. Maina’s female secretary unconscious. Mr. Maina was not in the office when the incident happened. Mrs Maina furiously dashed into the office and accused Ndi Bala of dating her husband. It could not be ascertained whether Ms Bala dated Mr. Maina as alleged by his wife. eye witnesses say that “The woman did not even give the lady the chance to explain the accusation before they pounced on her and beat her seriously, they did not stop until the lady became unconscious,” and she left with the unconscious lady's handbag. “On regaining consciousness, the woman called one of her friends who came with a lawyer and they all went to the Life Camp police station in Abuja where they reported the matter,” The police officers on duty at the station reportedly took the woman’s statement, as well as pictures of her bruised faced. Two police officers male and a female were subsequently dispatched to Mr. Maina’s residence to make arrests. A PREMIUM TIMES reporter who visited Mr. Maina’s residence in the Jabi district of Abuja witnessed intense drama between the police officers from Life Camp and the security officials guarding the house. One of the officers, who appeared to be a prison warden, said, “I know this lady, she works with oga and I am also aware of what happened at the office today”. But when the police officers demanded to see Mrs. Maina, the prison official said he would have to telephone Mr. Maina for permission. He emerged shortly afterwards to say he spoke with Mr. Maina who told him not to let anyone into the house until he arrived. He reportedly said he was already on his way back home. After waiting for nearly two hours without Mr. Maina arriving, the police made intermittent attempts to force their way in while the security guards at the gate resisted. The victim, whose dress was torn at the front and back, later suggested to the police officers to look for an alternative way of arresting the woman, according to her “we can be here up to 12 am and Mr. Maina will not come”. After waiting for over three hours, and becoming frustrated with the antics of the security men at the gate and Mrs. Maina (who was at a point sighted coming out of the main building to shout instructions at some domestic staff), the police decided to retreat, saying they would return the next day “with reinforcement”.--culled from premium times. http://premiumtimesng.com/regional/147580-mainas-wife-beats-husbands-secretary-coma-alleged-extra-marital-affair.html

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Adeyemi Akintolure, for parading himself as a medical practitioner without a licence. Akintolure, who also allegedly defrauded one Joy Umosekhaimhe of N500,000, was said to be in possession of a forged identity card of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Ngozi Braide, said the suspect was arrested by the Area H Command Headquarters, Ogudu, following a petition by Umosekhaimhe. She said upon his arrest, the suspect presented a certificate of annual practicing licence purportedly issued to him by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Braide said, “Upon interrogation, Akintolure identified himself as a doctor at LUTH and tendered his LUTH identity card with no 13541. He claimed to be a surgeon and gynaecologist at LUTH. “A letter was written to the hospital to authenticate his claims and LUTH replied that he was not an employee. The suspect subsequently confessed that he was not a doctor but had been practising for four years, using his vehicle as a mobile clinic. “Drugs, injections, syringes, stethoscope, a blood pressure monitor and a lab coat were recovered from his home when it was searched.” Akintolure, in his defence, said he took to medical practice because he needed money to fend for his family. He claimed to have only treated malaria and typhoid and had charged N4,000 for his services. He also denied defrauding Umosekhaimhe of N500,000. Akintolure said, “I borrowed only N260,000 from Umosekhaimhe, not N500,000. The money was used to care for my brother, who is suffering from a kidney disease. I am actually a graduate; I studied Marketing on a part time basis at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and graduated in 1997. “I got my medical experience at a hospital in Akure, where I was employed as the personal assistant to a doctor but also worked as an auxiliary nurse. I know I’m not meant to be practising medicine but I have never killed anyone before. I only took to medicine because of unemployment. “I also don’t treat pregnant women. I just treat typhoid and malaria at the cost of N4,000. Sometimes I administer injections. “The vehicle I use as my mobile clinic belongs to my wife but she has no idea that I was a fake doctor.” The police said the suspect would soon be charged to court. http://www.punchng.com/metro/i-treat-only-malaria-typhoid-fake-doctor/ ceaser: Imagine the degree that guys spend 7 to 9 years to obtain with serious knocks in most cases being faked by this guy. And to say he is making so much money from his "chosen profession"

Orikinla: When these doctors go on strike, many poor patients suffer and die. But the rich patients can always go to the private hospitals of these same doctors, because when they go on strike at the government hospitals, their private hospitals boom. These Nigerian doctors care less about their poor patients. Even if they don't fear God, they should have some sense of morality and conscience. Many poor people have died, because of these inhuman strikes. I have seen Nigerian doctors treat poor patients like their life is worthless without money in ER. The fact is nobody prays and wishes for tragedies that happen without notice and at such emergencies, most people are rushed to the hospitals with whatever amount of money they have on them and yet in most cases the doctors don't treat them without first asking for payment. That is why you can hardly find Good Samaritans in Nigeria during emergencies, because Nigerian doctors will not treat strangers in emergencies. But in the United States of America, Europe and even in Asia, doctors rush to the rescue of even strangers to save their lives in emergencies before asking for money. Why are Nigerian doctors even doctors? For the prestige of the title of the profession? For the high income? Or for their love of caring for and saving lives? One thing I want to tell these Nigerian doctors is, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IN GOD OR NOT, THERE IS GOD AND HE KNOWS AND SEES ALL THINGS AND EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS TO HIM NO MATTER THE SOCIAL CLASS STATUS OF THE PERSON, AND GOD WILL CERTAINLY TREAT YOU AS YOU TREAT YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEING. THE LAWS OF HARVEST NEVER FAIL AND EITHER YOU, MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY OR RELATIONS WILL PAY THE PRICE SOONER OR LATER FOR EVERY CRIME OR EVIL YOU DO. GOD IS WATCHING US ALL. BEWARE OF GOD.]Your diatribe obviously exposes the crass ignorance you bask in. These hospitals are government owned and your government should be responsible enough to provide emergency kits for free for patients coming into the ER. Oh, I get it. You think these doctors, nurses and the entire ER team should pay for the kits on behalf of these patients, even from the peanuts the government pays 'em or they should conjure up the kits, huh? And in case you don't know, let me educate you. US and UK citizens have almost every aspects of their lives insured. Health, house, properties and other forms of insurance are made to guard against your quoted "EMERGENCIES", matter of fact, US citizens without health insurance dread a visit to the hospitals like plague simply because they get no treatments without a health insurance. Now that is in the climes where things work and the government is accountable. However, I've got bad news for you - Pension scam! Does that ring a bell? Corruption-riddled Nigerian government has failed at managing something as basic as pension funds meant to "INSURE" your future post public service. Meanwhile private coys in Nigeria are light-years ahead with HMOs at providing health insurance package at various levels for their employees who rarely experience dearth of funds to cater for minor ailment, emergency or not. So if you really understand the above, you'll decipher that it all eventually boils down to the government. And hey, the only language your government has chosen to understand isn't diplomacy my dear, but confrontation - strike actions. |
Image123: The president didn't appear very informed, it seems some people have lied so much to him he's out of touch with the truth. Everyone around felt so uncomfortable and that man in black at the left kept pulling the reporter all through. Why, the president seemed surprised to hear the 3000 figure(like shooo, e don reach that number alredy?), and his thinking that the governors are in agreement with him. Great work by sahara anyway, they went all the way to new york to speak with Mr. President. Others can tke a cue and invest in substance journalism.Lol @ the bolded. |
Mz Vox: Dunno wia 2 start frm bt I gat 2 start frm somewia, my Fiance is such a guy that talks a lot, any course of misunderstandin btwn us, he starts yellin, d nxt fin I see him is reportin me 2 factually every member of my family, and even went 2 d extent of leakin out my secret 2 ma mum in which I neva expected frm him... But he later comes bck apologisin.. His behaviours always startles me, wat amai gonna do abt it pls? That means when you two are married and have misunderstandings, he'll bad-mouth you to his friends, your families and his families just so to garner sympathy to his side. It's unhealthy, cos when a third party has to always settle the most trivial of problems in relationships, it's a sign that both couples are either immature or not ready to stay together in the first place. So if he refuses to change, I advice you reconsider your stand. Reporting to in-laws just on trivial disagreements, haba! That's too much nau. |
carefreewannabe: From my experience: To be ignored out of anger CAN be worse than to be yelled at.Now that's another twist to this issue. And your observation just might be right. I think it pains me more to be ignored than yelled at. Deep down, I'd want some form of conversation with my spouse (I can't go gisting with another person nau) and ignoring me would break me more. |
