'Will you want to spend your life with a beautiful fool? I want to marry a woman that can stimulate my intellect as much as she can stimulate my loins' -Murphy, Coming to America |
Beaf: I can't even remember when I last saw an ordinary bulb at home, it must be at least 10 years or so now.You guys are just beyond redemption! The only way to ecourage use of energy saving bulbs is to first of all make electricity available, and then widely distribute the pre-paid metre which PHCN has been hiding so that people can pay as you go. Are you sharing bulbs for people to power with their generators? You guys just can't think straight! |
slam7000: i think its Gboliwe iwobi.Whatever man, as a teenager then, I had a huge crush on the babe. She's got about the most amazing voice I've heard on the radio till date. |
Nightshift: Give it to Coal City! Who knows where Mr.C,Chuzzy Iboko is? He was the toast of the town in Coal City during his days at "Sunrise 96.1"Good old 96.1 FM back in the 90s. With grand master iyke, GB, Woliwo Iwobi, and the rest flipping the wheels, you always got your walkman stuck on the frequency. Having been around main cities in the whole regions; Calabr, Kano, PH, Ibadan, ABJ, Gombe, Owerri, Warri, Uyo, Jos, Lagos, Bauchi, and some more, I will conveniently nestle in Enugu any day. |
hrhobi1: they asked you for money , you say u no get , ok where the gold, no gold , so bear with them stingy womanAt moments like this, I seriously decry my country's lack of security intel. I have no iota of doubt that you are a practicing full time criminal, and wouldn't mind paying any amount to track down a low-life like you because you deserve to be picked up and locked up in a dark dungeon. |
@OP We need to keep asking ourselves these kind of questions really, because in asking we learn. You are really right on the cultural impediments. First on that cultural aspect is the reason why we are about the only race that did not have literacy before it's contact with the other race. 'Knowledge is power' is not just a cliche! Centuries of history has shown that education is one exercise that has the ability to open the minds to explore and invent, to change and to evolve a whole society dynamically to a better form. Take for example, the 3 basic foundations of science education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology. Africans either learn them in English, French, Portuguese or whatever any other foreign language that we learned, while all the other races do these studies in their native languages, helping them to use it to affect their immediate societies as they can easily relate what they are studying to their environment, our own barely one century of education has shown that we only read to pass exams, then forget all we ever read! Please don't tell me Egypt had schools in the centuries B.C. because they are not racially Africans but Arabians. The Arabs had their alphabets, numerals, historic and poetic writings and religious books well documented, the Europeans also have theirs, ours was only based on experiential practices, and the oral tradition of handing over histories, which only the elders have knowledge of, and if they die before sharing it with others, that knowledge ceases to exist! Is it now surprising that we are being intimidated into changing our personal names and cities to suit either European or Arabic pronunciations. The second, and the most debilitating is Slavery/Colonialism (i am not trying to play the blame game here.)I am aware that most nations had also suffered these evils in the past but what made ours(Africa) most unfortunate is that it coincided with the age of industrialization. No nation had prior to then, needed to depend on the other for resources the way that industrialization threw open the world's quest for Energy and refined goods. The world Empires of old mostly collect taxes from the colonies, while they worked their lands themselves as the rightful owners. Enter the age of industrialization, the colonial masters knew that for the wheel of industries to continually turn, there must be a conveyor belt that must supply raw materials, and since they are already having them cheap from their African colonies, why change the status quo? They sat down and shared Africa like one big chocolate cake. Another term had to come in, Neo-colonization! The 'rants' of anti-slavery became deafening, and to sound morally responsible to their citizens, the powers that be withdrew their administrators and planted African stooges to overlook their interests, that is where we still are till today. Our leaders ever since independence are only willing to loot our resources and send to their masters, while taking their cut. |
redsun: If u like give a billion reasons why africans are backward. But the whole thing can be summerized into two words- mental slavery. What really makes you wanna-be atheists stupidly think that atheism is equal to intelligence/enlightenment? |
Piyke: I think that what tires bear on their sidewalls is the maximum pressure you should not exceed when inflating the tire and not necessarily the recommended pressure for driving. The recommended tire pressure for your vehicle will be written in your car's manual and the sticker by the door frame. Eg for a 2003 accord LX its 30psi front and 29 psi back. You are actually right. I just pulled out the Owner's manual and discovered its 32Psi on max load and 29 for light ride. It's good to check out these things. Once I get the digital guage, I'll be regulating the stuff my self. |
Emperoh: CeceThat's some cool pepper bro. You sure know your onions. May be if you can really vouch for those your guys, I can give them a job later in the year, provided they'll deliver as smooth as I'll demand. How much do they take for that oven baked painting for the full body? |
Nice Observation. I always doubt the reading on those ancient looking Pen size guages most of them use. I prefer the clock type, but with this info that one can get digital type at shoprite, I'll like to get one. Meanwhile, I recently bought 4 new MAXXIS Tyres of the same specs with yours, and the recommended cold pressure specified on the label is 40PSi |
^^^ Lol. @Phemmy at the scary part. It could really be scary when you watch these guys work! From what Emperoh said that the capital gains on the car is 70k from buying a non-dented option, I don't think I will mind if I am the one. I wouldn't even mind 200k! These local mechanics/rewires/Pbeaters are really not what I can entrust serious job with. I always pray to avoid encounters with them. But Emperor seems to have the magic wand, and of course, the time to engage them to deliver. |
Alright bro. You are doing well. Saving more cash is your drive and you got it spot on. Looking at the pix, your guys sure did a good job. Nobody could guess the original state unless you show them old pix. Shine on. |
royalflame: I was at this workshop inside LTV 8 today after reading the post from SimonTemp, I was grossly disappointed at the quality and the manner with which they do business.I also had a terrible experience with these guys, for the fact that their boss presents automedics program on the radio, which i really enjoy as it is educative, i decided to visit them for a professional touch on my car. They did a normal servicing for me sometime ago, and by the time i wanted to drive out the next morning, i saw that the whole oil in the engine was on the floor, i called them and they said i should bring it back, i bought a gallon, filled it, and prayed it will take me there, hopefully i arrived and they replaced the supposedly oil filter they installed initially. You can't believe the next day, the same thing happened!!! All the oil leaked away! I was so furious, how can supposed professionals be using fake oil filter, as cheap as that! i called a mechanic on my street, and the guy said i should give him 1.5k and he got me another oil filter, changed it and i never saw a single drop of leakage. I noticed that their boss is not always around at the work shop, probably, he needs to be doing more oversight functions on what his wards are doing there. |
Emperoh Okenwa! Am loving this your DIY move. Having a 2008 CRV on my radar too, I had to read through the lines to be up to speed. If i may ask, is there any reason why you didn't do the fixing in the US? Reason is that the way our local panel beaters hammer away at auto body here sometimes makes me feel for the metals ![]() And they have a penchant for losing original screws and bolts that were there before you drop the ride with them.(i had a recent painful case where they worked on my fuel guage, the cover that had 8 screws were reduced to 6 by the time they were done, and they were like, 'it's no issue') I also feel there may be some intricate features they may just cut out and throw away(simply because they don't understand the purpose), and they'll just tell you that it does not change anything (just like their penchant for removing engine thermostat and replacing a single cell radiator with a double cell). |
Jarus: If you have prior experience, pay may be btw 4-4.5m. If no experience 3.3-4m. But like any other negotiation, try to ask for something higher, maybe 5-6m so that when the chips are down ir comes to their normal range.I thought O&G do far better than this So, why do people say you guys pay far better than banking. It's actually at par, from what you quoted here. I actually thought entry level should be up to 5m (all in). |
surefx: Also, if your Thermostat has been removed and your fans begin to run immediately you turn the ignition key on, then your car would definitely consume lots of fuel abnormally.Recently, my radiator got a crack and i needed to replace it, i took a street mechanic to Ladipo, and they brought one tokumboh they called 'double cell' and said it's better than the OEM 'single cell' that came with the car.(They insisted that single cell OEM version cannot be sourced any where) While mounting it, the guy said he was going to remove the Thermostat for it to work properly, and i also noticed that the fan runs on ignition, unlike my factory fitted version! I just knew that those guys are charlatans, and i told them to dismantle the radiator immediately and put back my faulty one. The next day i went to Automaze, and they gave me a brand new OEM radiator, and my ride has been cruising like brand new! |
If you are ready to spend money wisely to bring your car back to shape, take it to Automaze, 10 Morrison crescent, off oregun road Ikeja. The car will be scanned firstly, for proper diagnosis and then perfect servicing/replacement of parts. Caveat: Labour alone is up to 10k! But warranty is assured. |
^^^ O ga ooo Seun, This your auto smiley, hope it also comes up when my words express serious vexing? |
I hope RIM will be sensible enough to take the new set of hardwares that will run this OS 10 to at least 2GB RAM of internal memory. What is the sense in running heavy OS in devices of paltry 512MB Ram, the OS alone will max up the space, by the time you install 1 or 2 apps, freezing becomes the order of the day. Who wants to be pulling off battery/hard reset at this age ![]() |
^^ Use a PC to access Nairaland, it doest show on mobile. Seun sef dey share in the loot well well. All the front page banner adverts are from the crook! |
She is desperately using the subsidy loot to fight back. Whoever pays advertorials to claim he/she is the best in stock while still in the office? #Unrepentantlooters |
mukina2: "Fashanu also says that during this time that Ibori was building stadiums many great footballers came out of delta state includin J J Okocha"Wait wait wait! You mean Fash said this? Probably Ibori was also the one that Paddled the canoe for Mungo Park down the Niger river! |
Jarus: The latter just clicked yesterday and I have accepted it. My dream of crossing from downstream to upstream eventually materialized. AlhamdulilahCongrats bro! It's always a joy to move on to greater heights. Getting extra #2.5m i believe is as good as getting a promotion on your current grade, and then the new experiences/challenges/networks is really worth it. And in this dynamic age, where you've been is really a good advantage. Me sef go begin dey plan my exit. i don give this guys 5years! But then...they keep baiting me |
I will be glad to see a proof of BRF's public condemnation of the city shutdown during last month's celebration of Tinubu@60, else this statement will be judged hypocrisy at it's best. I lauded BRF for banning the Siren madness in Lasgidi, but it seems like he has some animals as being 'more equal' than others. |
Real tough call for us Africans. Being matured for marriage is actually having enough wisdom to marry both your spouse and their family members issues. Knowing that his kids will be cousins to yours, I'll advise that you draw a fine line where the dope head cannot cross. Render help to him from afar. Never allow him to live in, else he can commit some things that can wreck your marriage. |
This is creatively hilarious! I got the BBM link since noon, and am still replaying it! Whoever did the voice-over is a genius! 'it's tot'ly uncool, bro ' *still laughing away* |
As an Alumni of UNIZIK, I can say that the enviable height she has attained, trailing the Great UNILAG (I am also an Alumni here) by just a slim margin as a preferred 1st choice destination by Nigerian candidates is not a chance occurrence but a deliberate program initiated by Anambra Professionals back in the days. I got in Sept. 2000 and graduated April 2004. A no mean feat by Nigerian Universities of those heady years. Having inherited temporary structures (our 100 level courses were actually administered inside a whare house!) from the old ASUTECH, after the splitting of old Anambra state into Enugu and Anambra, the school began with the best of lecturers relocated from UNN and other schools. (Not sure UNN has recovered from this yet) Then came the drive from Prof Ilochi Okafor who took the bulls by the horn to develop the permanent site, first of all by jerking up school fees then at about 4k to 25k or there about, there was an uproar but the man stuck with the vision. Today, all the faculties have moved to their permanent structures with better LTs and office blocks. With the massive human and infrastructure development still going on there, I expect them to take the no. 1 spot soonest. We ain't called Giants for fun! |
