Politics › Re: Imo Privatises Water Corporation. by ceejayluv(m): 4:10pm On Jan 30, 2012 |
Dede1: This one of the reasons Rochas Okorocha is slimy dupe. There is no functional Water Corporation in Imo State. Every new estate in Owerri in particular and Imo State in general has its borehole. The existing buildings in Owerri do not have running water. What the hell Okorocha’s government is talking about Water Corporation and privatization. A person does not privatize what he or she does not have.
Even electricity is provided by any family that can afford generators. A family without generator can be in darkness or without electricity for weeks.
I traveled to Owerri lately and the urge to eliminate certain people in power or whosoever that ruled or ruling Nigeria kept propping up in mind. i lived in Works Layout, Owerri for 5 years (2006-2011) and used pipe-borne water in our house (bathroom, kitchen, etc) throughout my stay. I agree the infrastructure is inadequate but that was the case with NITEL , PRIVATISATION IS THE SOLUTION. |

It depends on d person's background. An igbo person that grew up in a remote rustic area in the east and having heard biased tales of how every Yoruba folk is a juju freak will be apprehensive whenever he/she sees a yoruba person. Same with a yoruba person tha spent all his/her life in a rural settings sans any form of contact with outsiders will probably grow with the notion that all igbos are cannibals and blood-money freaks. What values and beliefs do you expect the two people mentioned above to pass to their children, even if they are to relocate to Lekki or Abuja? |

Politics › Re: Nigeria Lost N300bn To Strike – Okonjo-iweala by ceejayluv(m): 6:38pm On Jan 17, 2012 |
My estimate: Nigeria's GDP = $300bn (2009 estimate).
1 day's loss= 300bn/365 = $821.9m. Total loss = 821.9*6 = $4.93bn. Dunno the % contribution of oil in the GDP. But at 2 million bpd and 40% royalty accruing to govt and $100 per barrel oil revenue = 2m*100*0.4*7 = $480m durin d strike. Net loss = $4.45bn of course some commercial activities still went on, say at 30% level loss = 0.7*4.45= 3.115bn which gives 'actual' net loss of 482.8 BILLION NAIRA. |

alexleo: For all i care, Jonathan is moving on the right track. This is not America. Nigeria protesters are usually mixed up with people whose understanding of protest is violence, stealing and killing of each other. Let this protest nonsense stop. Let the subsidy be removed entirely. If GEJ keeps quiet u people will say he is weak, when he reacts u people will say he is anti masses. Make una stop all these your foolish comments on Jonathan. U people occupied last week and GEJ allowed u, and now its his turn to occupy thru the army. Pls keep your mouth shut. u are right, bros. Protests are a part and parcel of democracy but trying to arm-twist the govt is not! I am even disappointed Dat GEJ reduced the price to 97. It means he has removed d subsidy and restored it partially. Thats retrogressive. Anyway, i know d subsidy will b totally taken out by April. And NASS wil now pass the PIB wit d speed they passed anti-same sex marriage bill. Diezani is a high-octane technocrat. Likewise NOI and SLS. U dont expect them to tell u only wat u want to hear- thats the work of political appointees. They stand for the truth and im solidly behind them.!! |
