Ensure you go with every receipt of payments made at the hospital. Also go with the document you sign as self pay patient without discount. pointednose: Hello everyone,
I got a B2 (medical visa) to birth in year 2017. My bill was very low as per self pay patient. I want to renew my Visa this year for a visit. Please I need your sincere advice. Please kindly help. Has anyone renewed after a small bill? What can one do to improve one's chance of renewal?
Thank you. |

Medical bills in USA are location dependent just like it is here in Nigeria Eg you can do a procedure for 350k in phc while the same procedure would cost you 150k in umuahia or even cheaper Akure.

Add every cent you paid ie Hospital Doctor Test Ultrasound Well baby check up Anaesthetic etc
Go with receipts too
You would be surprised it will be close or more than 10k
So when asked you state the total amount you rounded up.

Did you declare at POE that you were going to put to birth in 2017? If yes then go for your interview with all receipts and expect the best. sheilchi: I have a renewal interview for Feb.2020 but scared as I don't want to have any history of visa refusal. I had my baby at Henrico Doctors 2017, went for vacation 2018. Visa was gotten for B1/B2 but used to birth. Sincerely, I didn't know this thread before applying for visa. I was introduced by a friend and that was the of change of intent era. I was sent for secondary inspection and advised to keep my receipts which I did. I have my itemized bills also.
Please any advice? |

The truth is we never can tell how the V.O will view things. If you ask me go with all your documents as usual and a big prove of available funds. A lot of people who used Oakbend have succeeded in renewing their visa, just like a lot has been refused too. I used West Houston in 2015 and I renewed, I will be using the same hospital and doctor again in 2020. The hospital will not even collect from you as long as you have a zero balance receipt. One more thing did you at any point declare your intention of having a baby then ie at the embassy or at POE also when filling this form request for a medical visa, not a tourist/visitor visa though at the end you would still be given B1/B2. NezzyWozzy: Hello
Please I will be going for a visa renewal interview at Abuja in January.
I used Oakbend hospital in 2016 and paid less than 10k total bill. I think hospital was 2300 Dr was 2400. Then baby bill and pead.
Are they still denying renewals based on low bill? Should I call Oakbend to pay more?
I plan on using west Houston hospital this time with more expensive obgyn or should I avoid Houston totally.
Please those that have renewed recently should kindly advise |

By pocket-friendly I suppose you mean like $20,000.00 to $30,000.00 anyway medical cost is state and area dependent. Chpstcks: Hi,
Is there a list of pocket friendly hospitals for Child Birth in the US? I am in planning phase and need proper guidance. I need all available options.
Thanks all. |

The answer is yes because medical and tourism is in the same B category. That is how I did mine. Malevonent: So need a lil clarification Previous visa was b1/b2 tourism/vacation given as reason for visit. Now for childbirth should she answer yes or no the question?. I think no is the correct answer, as childbirth is medical = b2. what do u guys think |

After you have done the bolded without declaring your intention, maybe the next line of action you will tow is taking government aid. Then you will come here to tell us how you could not renew your visa out of no fault of yours. Zarahsyed: Hi everyone, I want to travel when I'm 5 months due and not showing any pregnancy. I want to know if i will automatically get a 6 months stay ? I'm going to mention I'm on vacation.

well said Bcpump: Hmmm. I don't really know why, but healthcare (not just delivery o) is expensive in US. I have read of how just calling an ambulance or going in for a toothache can cause so much.
That is why the VOs are not accepting low Bill's because they believe if their citizens can pay so much why would we come and think we can get it at ridiculous prices. They also claim that the hospitals that give us low self pay prices somehow claim the discounts from their government. Now that is one battle we cannot win, esp as their guests. So the way we avoid going through that nonsense talk is to look for hospitals that give little or no discount and still have reasonable prices. I know reasonable varies but you can Google different states to know average costs of delivery. That is what should guide you in the term 'reasonable'.
it was not always this strict, but it is what it is now. I had my first baby in the US. Maryland Precisely. And even though I was soooooo mad over the Bill's, I appreciated it during my renewal. the VO that interviewed me even gave me payment tips. And now that I applied to go give birth again, I had no problems being approved by the embassy even without an interview, in this day and time of no dropbox and unsuccessful change of intent.
So do the right thing when you are ready. And pray for God's favour. |

Unfortunately, even the doctors can not tell you what it would cost you for drugs, etc during delivery and hospital stay, as it is based on how the case presents eg if patient A needs 2 doses of paracetamol orally for 2 days and patient B needs 2 doses of the same paracetamol suppository for 2 days you would agree with me it won't be the same price and if patient A had nurses come into the room to care just twice a day while Patient B had nurses 4 times a day the cost will differ too. these all what make up your final bill. That is why after you have been discharged you would be told to wait for a few days for your final bill to drop after the hospital has gone through all your records before you are issued an itemized bill and subsequently a zero balance letter. na so the matter for hospital be everywhere in the world. Bcpump: So I just called emory and they told me there are still costs not included in that 13,600k bill, such as paed, drugs dispensed during delivery etc.
please who has like an idea of the total amount it would cost with these things inclusive just so that I am better prepared. Thanks. |

good, I love this approach. MamaOO: Funny enough, Max they can get per kid is about 2K or so. Often times you don’t get anything, it just decreases your tax liabilities. It’s crazy how have the liver to claim other people’s kid on their taxes. The fear of IRS is the beginning of wisdom cos they will drag you and shake you down for all you’re worth if they catch you scamming on taxes.
The IRS is cracking down on them now. If you file taxes with kids they can tell you to fax them a copy of the kids SS card, birth certificate and so on. Especially if the last name of the kids don’t match the filer’s last name. They hold the refund until the documents are submitted. |

maybe your answer to the question how long did you stay would have been 3 months because I went to have a baby, I believe some of them do not take time to go through the DS160 form in front of them. It is good to chip in some small details when possible. Peebles23: Went for interview today, vo asked if I'd travelled before i said yes, she said obviously as she types, then she asked how many months i spent when i travelled i said 3months even tho i was stamped in for 6months, she then say what do i do, i said am a business woman, am in to blah blah blah... was reaching out for my id, statement of act when she said noo she doesnt need it. So she asked if i had kids i said yes (2). She typed and gave me green paper ooo. They won't even ask u questions, and they wont let u talk.

Call all the hospitals you know in Houston they will give you a list of doctors you can contact any of them. I believe that Dr. F is getting overwhelmed by patients from Nigeria not his fault though since our people are doing copy and paste. There are so many doctors in Houston to contact wit ease. twinboyandgirl: Hello house
This is really URGENT!!!
Please can anyone help me with a good doctor's contact in Houston ? I applied for a B2 medical Visa and been trying to get an appointment letter from Dr F but he hasn't replied my email since he sent the first email showing his price and that of the hospitals he is affiliated to.

I just got off the phone with Nigerian immigration at 2.37pm VOA for infants is still in place you can call also to confirm by calling their official line 08119753844 But when I tried to apply on the website I got this see attached screenshot Dear Valued customer Non-African applicants under the age of 18 years are not allowed for visa on arrival under the business category. Are you over 18? veeveezu: Hello read here that VOA had been stopped, went ahead to get ETC for my baby. I arrived 3 weeks ago to discover VOA is still being issued at the airport. I was so upset.
Hello All,
Please, could anyone let me know if the Visa on Arrival is still in use for infants travelling to Nigeria from the US.
If it isn't, what is the current process now? Visa or ETC. What is the typical processing time for both?
I would appreciate feedback on this, please.
Thank you.

You are correct Qei2u: You people are ceeating unnecessary panic
This is a first step to modyfying the rules but as of this new drama it does not affect birthright citezenship,it affects ur grand kids if they are not born in the us or if your kids never lived in the usa for 5years of which 2 of those 5 years must be after age 14.
Go to their website and read the head of the organization did an interview and said it does not affect birthright citizenship
To abolish birthright citizenship an amendment or wxecutive order is needed
The new rules affect ur grand kids if they are born outside usa,ur kids didnt school in usa and ao dint live up to 5yra here hope this clarifies d tension!
In fact if you ever get a green card or citizenship you can transfer to your grandkids if ur kids dont meet the criteria ,as long as you have lived in the usa for 5 years |
