The maximum you are given at anyone time as visitor is six months irrespective of the fact that your visa will expire tomorrow if you land today.

Good job going on here...I have been getting quotes from hospitals and surprisingly I don't seem to get anything close to the amounts mentioned here...e.g. oakbend sent me a quote of 5,450usd, JPS Network in Dallas forthworth sent an hospital bill of 9,000usd, Emory hospital, GA sent a bill of 9,888usd (all inclusive), etc

on Instagram I see people offering ridiculous offers in different states and they will tell u that payment will be made to the hospital and it sounds real.

I try to look for such discounts. ..where do I see them??

That's a very good location for that hospital and for going around for shopping and other amusement locations.
Ask the accommodation owner if there are furniture in it at all.

Found an accommodation along Richmond avenue Westchase area( very close to the hospital) about 2mins.

The accommodation is for 6 months reduced rate as against the 3 months rate (which am interested in).

First decide which city you want to have your baby then use Google to look for hospitals and doctors
Next contact both hospitals and doctors to see which falls into your budget.
Apply for visa if you don't have one already.
Plan your logistics and accommodation

I am guilt like many of not reading but because I was trying to avoid their wahala at all costs, I always put my Naija address wherever possible on any form and only used US one when asked for mailing address.

I've heard of this birth certificate address thing being an issue for someone else earlier this year.....and visa was denied....VOs have a valid excuse reason to reject a mum who fills in a US address as her permanent address.......conclusion is that the person is potentially claiming residency for medicaid or other benefits. They will tell you that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

I hope new mums will read and apply this knowledge and hopefully old ones can correct. Please also note this for the child's passport.

.....item 8 on the passport form DS11 asks for mailing address and then item 19 asks for permanent address.... which should be the Nigerian address.

But am not sure it's not always asked for, she can still apply like a married woman and the guy will serve as a tie back here as well as her job or business. Get doctors/ hospital correspondences, bank statement and other relevant documents.

if asked your relationship say she is your girl friend and both of you are expecting a baby and that is the reason you are traveling, she should also get letter of introduction from her school.

Get a letter from your referring Dr here and one from the receiving Dr in the USA with appointment date then go to your portal and request for expedited appointment while also uploading the said documents.

This is actually a post US childbirth question but please help if you can. A friend's US born baby needs urgent ENT medical attention in the US but his mother has been given February 18 2019 visa interview date in Lagos after dropbox application for visa renewal.

*Just like childbirth services, are there people/bodies who can assist the mother in getting a letter from a US ENT specialist/hospital (Dallas preferably) so that she can be given an earlier emergency appointment date for the visa interview?

*are there other options for fast track apart from getting a letter? pls, do not 'waka pass!' All input gratefully accepted!

The VO sees your wife as a potential migrant already due to you having schooled there.

i am a silent reader on this forum. my wife applied for B1/B2 today but was denied. i did my masters in 2014 and i invited my wife for graduation but she didnt come because she was very sick. i came back to nigeria after my masters in 2015. graduation was june 2015 and i came back by september after i collected my certificate. in 2016 we decided to give birth because my wife has high risk pregnancy. i made a call to the embassy to notify and emailed them. my wife traveled on August 1. by that time my F1 visa has expired and i went for a fresh interview and i was granted based on the fact that i want to be with my wife during delivery. she declared at the POE that she wanna gave birth. they spent 2 months and i spent a month. we paid all fees in total of 15kplus because she was induced because of the high risk. i have been to the united states more than 3 times after that. DW didnt know dropbox is 12months before expiration. this june we had to book for appointment in abj. my visa also expired this august. the earliest appointment we could see is september 25 . and since i qualified for dropbox i did the dropbox september 3rd.and it has been on administrative processing since the 17th of september after case opened on the 4th. my wife got denied today based on the fact she has no strong ties. she work as a senior supervisor at cbn. the vo checked the receipts of the hospital and agreed we paid. the duration btw when she got the visa and birth is a year plus. the vo even saw in her system that i did my masters in the states.she even asked if she is willing to give more babies in the future and she said yes. because right now she is pregnant but we are not using the visa for childbirth now but for vacation. then on the next trip we can use it for child birth which her edd is next year march. she was just 2 weeks pregnant when we fill in ds 160. please am sorry for this long message as this is my first time.

Them VOs just look for every reason to say " sorry your application does not qualify" IMO

Imagine that! So the address is on the birth certificate? My niece was born in Ohio, no address on her birth certificate. Hmmmmn Texas I want to go to � But is it that VOs don't know this? Because they really grilled my sister asking "Why should you put a US address when you are not a resident"

Fast forward to 2018, when we decided to renew our visa, interview was scheduled and the VO asked for an itemized bill and I was shocked because I thought I had all my documents, she asked if I would get an itemized bill from the hospital and I said yes, because I had paid all my bills and I was not told of any discount at the point of payment I paid 3000 dollars before delivery as a self paid patient and I VD. Called the hospital and I was transferred to the billing section, I was told the statement would be sent within 7 days of request, the bill was sent as indicated and I am seeing a bill of over 12000 dollars and with no payment on it. Pls what do I do, I am completely confused. Apologies for the long post. Mummies in the house please help a sister with the way forward.

If you go for visa renewal abeg I take God beg you...no bring out that long detailed bill they gave you. It contains breakdown of everything including syringe and medications. Some VOs might request but insist on your receipt and zero balance. Most VOs are not well informed and start asking unnecessary deep questions that may land you into hot Yoruba pepper soup!
The aproko details on that long thing might put you on a long thing as it did me. My visa application was put on hold for some verification. During this time I had some family stuffs and couldn't get back in time with the info. When I did, a few months had passed and I sent by email (meanwhile the US embassy doesn't open anything that contains an attachment). So the visa was rejected and I reapplied.

Same thing happened. I was put on hold and asked for me to go to St Marys and find out what the code NJ SELF PAY meant. Shuo!

If you look well on your bill you will see it.
Eventually I was granted a visa but some people were not so fortunate cos when I went back the second time I met a couple that was being interviewed and the questions and entire story sounded like mine! Phew! What an experience. Na vacation I jus wan go oh. Make I quick carry belle so this visa will be well worth it at the other side of 2yrs.

The Federal Government has directed the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), to immediately end the payment of fines by Nigerians holding dual citizenship at the nation’s international airports.

The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said that the directives are in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to make movement easy for Nigerians with dual citizenship to come into their father-land unhindered.

According to him, “As a new government policy, on no account should any Nigerian traveller holding dual citizenship pay fine for so-called overstay”.

He said that it was a crime to ask or pay any money in that regard and stressed that under the new policy, “Citizens with dual nationality should only present both travelling documents of their countries of nationality to the immigration officials upon arrival and departure, regardless of whichever they are using to travel”.

Dambazau emphasized that the NIS should ensure immediate compliance with the new government directives as the government would sanction any Immigration official who is found collecting such fines henceforth.

He asked that Nigerians with dual citizenship should report any Immigration official who imposes such charges on them to the appropriate authorities.

There is a space for signature by patient and accounts advisor at the time of giving that paper. The signatures won't be on it.
Try and get am itemized bill before you leave.

I am still in Houston and used West houston medical, there was a paper issued before payment showing the price to be paid for self pay like mine said 3,600 usd and as we make the payment indicated and I am sure that wont pose any issues, as our zero balance was recieved with no outstanding after all other payments doctors, epidural, pediatric, lab, and others were made. I can send u that paper if u want but wouldn't know how much u paid during your birthing.
