Dr Dama Ziworitin MD, Dr. Funsho Fagbohun

Jasmine08:
Wow! Thanks for this firsthand review and I'm sorry you went through that horrific ordeal.

I've been corresponding with Dr. F and was just about to pay to get an appointment date but now I won't.

Pls what's the full name for Dr. Z (Admin kindly allow this just this once) and is he with Oakbend too?

Also, I'll be glad if anyone has personal reviews to share on Dr. X of HNWMC... I don't really trust online reviews.

Yes he should mention child birth at POE and also carry all the information sent to him by you.
valeria:
Hello everyone, please I need an advice. I had shared my POE experience weeks ago where I wasn’t asked about duration of stay or pregnancy.
DH is joining me soon and I will like to know if he needs to mention child birth at POE or he should simply say vacation. I intend scanning receipts to him and his duration of stay is 4 weeks
Thank you.

looks like some people don't know the meaning of "google it" or there is no search bar on the web pages they use.

mamaron:
@ All,

Apologies in advance if I offend. I'm sure some people will be offended.

The thread is not as vibrant as I saw in parts 1 -5 and I think it's for 2 reasons:

1) people are not giving back. I'm sure there have been successful interviews but they are not being shared...or maybe I'm wrong..... POE experiences too are few and feedback after birth has almost disappeared. Or maybe fewer people than before are on NL planning this birthing trip. BtW why is it called missionary journey?

2) people are not willing to read/research. A lot of PMs are being exchanged, many people asking for which hospital to use despite the different names and states that have been shared in the past. Specific questions are fine but asking for an "A to Z"/comprehensive guide of the process?? That's all on page 0 on @justwise's post undecided

It's sad to see a forum I learnt so much from dwindle. There's a wealth of info here, that you'll be glad you researched it, if you just take the time to read up. You'll also save yourself time and the error of incomplete info from well-meaning relatives and friends. For example my sibling told me it would take 2 weeks to get an expedited passport. Truly, that's what the websites say but I knew from the experience of mamas here that next day is possible.

When all is done...please tell us how it went/share your experience no matter how sraight forward or k-legged..someone may learn something.

contacting both institutions directly will give you first hand and most up to date information or what do you think.

I did 3 weeks on air France but it is still dependent on when baby is Fit to fly

Hi mamas. Pls when is a new born baby fit to fly? Pardon my naivety. Thanks
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 7:12pm On Mar 24, 2018
You are absolutely correct. It happened to me I got to find out that my baby's account still had some money I was owing (this 2 years down the line) meanwhile I was given zero balance. I had to make a lot of calls and send mails attaching the zero blance letter i was given to authenticate my claim but it is all cleared now.

anunimorigba:
In my opinion, I think it was easy for former MIHS Int’l patients simply cos the Obama administration was friendly towards immigrants, birth tourism, etc. It is now difficult cos Trump isn’t as we all know. They look for the flimsiest excuse to reject visa applications now.

If the OP, signed the residents contract unknowingly, then she’s in for it. Let’s also be aware that u can get a zero balance from the hospital but still have some kind of medic aid pay for the difference. My advice is, we should always still call after a little while to ascertain our hospital account status.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 7:32am On Mar 22, 2018
the visa is still valid.
anizi:
Renew your passporthuh When a new passport is made the old one is cancelled, this invalidates your visa.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 2:29pm On Mar 21, 2018
Renew your passport and go with both. The stamp will/might be put in any of them. But the new one gives you more validity.

Ehimeomo:
Please house, I know this might have been treated before but kinda confusing. I crave ur indulgence to please help or throw more light, I have my visa already but my passport would be expiring in September(ending) & intend traveling by May (ending), is there any need renewing my passport b4 traveling as the validity would be exactly 4months when I land the POE? Getting confused & really worked up about this 6months thingy. Thanx.
NB: visa was issued early January

Have you seen this:-

If you apply for a B-1/B-2 visa, you must demonstrate to a consular officer that you qualify for a U.S. visa in accordance with the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Section 214(b) of the INA presumes that every B-1/B-2 applicant is an intending immigrant. You must overcome this legal presumption by showing:

That the purpose of your trip to the U .S. is for a temporary visit, such as business, pleasure, or medical treatment
That you plan to remain in the U.S. for a specific, limited period of time
Evidence of funds to cover your expenses while in the United States
That you have a residence outside the U.S., as well as other binding social or economic ties, that will ensure your return abroad at the end of your visit

I presume that they always believe that the fact that we have children means we are already planning our exit from the country into the USA in no distant time.

The onus is on us to proof otherwise

Saldway:
Good day people,
Pls how do you handle a case of someone that gave birth twice in the US, paid all her bills and collected zero balance letters. Subsequently applied for renewal via drop box and was invited for interview.
The interview asked for all the receipts , she gave all itemised and zero balance letters, vo just flipped through and said to her you were given discount of over 9k. She responsed that she was self pay and that the hospitals has a package for self pay international patients.
The vo looked at the birth certificate and told her you said you are resident there that is why the birth certificate has a u.s address on it. She said no, not at all that she said she is international and even gave the hospital her passport. That the address on the birth certificate and even receipts were for correspondence since they asked for a local address incase they want to post things, that they dont post internationally. He went ahead to deny her on 214 . She called the hospitals and doctors offices , they said she is not owing them as stated in her zero balance letter.
Pls who can she talk to?How can this be handled?

I love this one "na there God catche them" auto stop.

MamaOO:
Funny enough, the tax returns they get from claiming people’s children is not been much. Max of $1K I think. I have only one child, but didn’t even get the full amount. And with Trump’s new tax rules, they have started scrutinizing peoples tax returns like mad.

I belong to a Mommy group on Facebook and I’ve heard some people said that IRS have contacted them to submit evidence that the children they’re claiming on their tax returns are their biological children or direct dependents. They have to submit birth certificates, doctors letters and papers to the IRS to allow the IRS verify them. Imagine, having to prove that your kids are yours! All because of greedy people who claim their cousins, nephew, nieces or even their neighbors kids during tax time for a bigger refund that’s not even worth it.

It’s illegal and a crime to claim that a child lives in your house and that they’re your dependents on your tax forms, when indeed they’re not.

In addition to what @marylanmama said go with a letter from your husband stating he has given consent to you to travel with the baby. In the letter he would state your name and passport no. and baby's full and also attache a copy of his bio data page. It is called a letter of consent from the non travelling parent it is an international law to curb trafficking in infants and minors.

Thankful11011:
Good day my people, I commend the wonderful work here, God bless all of us.
Pls I have an issue , I gave birth to my first child in the USA, now am about going for my second missionary journey in the next 2 months, the issue here is that my international passport still bares my maiden name, I was told that I might be stopped at the airport for child trafficking since I don't have the same surname with my child and the only solution is to make a new passport with my husband's name on it and my passport expires 2019, I was hoping to leave it till it expires, please is this true?, thanks as I await a response, God bless

Add for dual citizenship to the question, why the USA
omosolz:
Hi everyone. So I and my wife got denied Visa in Abuja. We stay in Abuja. This is our first interview and intent to travel out of the country. We were wondering how to apply again- this transpired between us and the VO.

Us- Hi good morning
VO- good morning can I have your passports please
VO- what's the relationship between you two
DH- we a couple, a married couple
VO- How long have you been married?
DH- got married 2016 December
VO- why are you travelling to the US
US- for vacation and to have our first baby
VO- Why the US
DH.- for better medical services

VO- but there are good Hospitals here
DH- the hospitals we currently use have issues
VO- How long have you worked for ********
DH- a year yesterday
VO- how much do you earn
DH- told her the amount
VO- asked wife the same question and where she worked
DW- I work at ****** and earn ******
VO- How many years have you worked for *****
DW- 3 years
VO- How much will this trip cost you
US- 12 thousand dollars
VO- who are you staying with
DW- My aunty
VO- where are you going to in the US
DH- Arlington
VO- Have any of you travel before out of Nigeria
US- No
VO- So sorry you do not meet the requirement, you can always reapply.

So we left their. We are thinking of reapplying and using the Hospital and doctor as contacts and get an apartment as where we would stay while in the Us. Also the option of DW applying first and go with her mum since her mum has a tourist Visa. Then DH can apply after. Please advice if we should also change the contact as against what we used before.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 2:08pm On Feb 26, 2018
Yes but because the baby has dual citizenship it is advisable you go and get Nigerian passport for the baby y if you plan to stay beyond that date before going out of the country with the child.
decimator:
Please, can you explain the one month stamp in. Will the baby be required to be returned to US at expiry. Confused. Thanks
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 11:51am On Feb 24, 2018
Do you meet the conditions for it if yes then go to the search bar type in the key word and a lot of information on that will be in your face before you even finish typing.
happyme31:
Please can someone put me through how I can apply for
an expedited interview for a visiting B1/B2 visa. Thanks.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 10:32am On Feb 23, 2018
First go back to the site with the details of the current form and cancel it then Fill a new form and go to your portal to insert the new number. All this you can do latest 2 days to your interview date.
That's all no need to call anybody
Ddy2013:
Hello house, an agent made a mistake filling married. I'm separated from my ex for years now and the case is still in court but i'm pregnant for some one else. And he is the one sponsoring my trip to birth in the US. What do i do as an interview date has been given and i can't have a court wedding while i'm still going through divorce process. So what do i do please?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 4:25pm On Feb 18, 2018
It is because of proximity to the embassy or consulate.

Bcpump:
For the birth certificate (sorry I'm not tagging who asked about that), after 2 days of hospital discharge, just go to the bc office in your county. that's what i did and i picked up as much copies as i wanted.

I applied for nigerian passport last week Thursday, paid 77$ money order and went to the embassy yesterday for my appointment. passport was also ready as at the evening of the same day. Told them I was traveling immediately.
All I paid was that 77$ money order to innovate. since the passport is cheaper than VOA, why do so many people opt for the VOA? everything took me a week.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 7:35pm On Feb 16, 2018
Correct well said.

Derinoye:
I would suggest that when nxth ur going for ur interview try and staple together the letter for self pay bill you collected from the hospital before going there with your zero balance and hands it over to the Vo if asked
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 7:33pm On Feb 16, 2018
Wow this is tacky. If you did I would have said go with it next time and ensure it is the first thing the visa officer sees.
Bubbles123:
no, I don't have the self pay documents because we mostly spoke on phone.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 8:09am On Feb 16, 2018
Congratulations first of all.
I will say give it 2-3 days then locate the office that covers the county you had your baby and walk in straight there to enquire.
If it were to be Houston you will get it in very few days after birth.

AroOkigbo:
And so DW was delivered of our baby- a boy, on Feb 10.
To God be the glory for a safe and successful delivery. She and baby were discharged 2 days after.
I wanted to know from the nurse who took baby's data how soon we can get the birth certificate and she was like, it usually takes 30 to 60 days but you can start calling this number (she gave me a list of numbers) in 2 to 3 weeks.
LA (or do I say, California) mums, abeg how long did it take you to get your babys' birth certificates? Can this be expedited?
We didn't plan staying so long after child was delivered. This state is damn too expensive to continue to stay.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 12:15pm On Feb 15, 2018
Do you still have the original self pay package document you signed and did you go with it?

Bubbles123:
I had my baby in New York in 2016 on tourist visa but I informed them at the Port of entry that I was going to have my bat and they allowed me in. Before I traveled I inquired about cost and I was told that hospital bill among other bills for self pay is $6,000 dollars. Altogether I paid almost $15,000 for the delivery ( hospital, doctor's bill, lab, anesthesia and paediatric care). But I was surprised when the hospital gave me my itemized receipt, it showed a bill of $35,000. And since I paid $6,000. The balance of $25,000 was written off as self pay adjusted discount. When I asked they said that's how the template is in their system. Anyway, I gathered all my other receipts from Doctor, lab etc. Fast forward to January 2018
I tried to renew my Visa. This time I applied for medical visa. Because I am pregnant again. And the interview went this way
VO- how long was you longest stay in the US
ME- 3 months
VO- what were you doing there
ME- I had my baby
Vo- how much did you pay
ME- almost$15,000
Vo- may I have the receipts
And I handed the receipts to him
Vo- you were billed $35,000 for hospital and you only paid $6,000. Why did they give you such huge discount
ME- I wouldn't know, I was asked if I was self pay or with insurance and I said self pay and they said their bill for self pay is $6,000 which I paid in full. It's possible the other bills are for those with insurance
Vo- I'm sorry at this time you do not qualify for US Visa and handed me the white paper.
I'm really upset. I have reapplied. Please help me. I want to know if there is anything I need to do before my upcoming interview to enhance my getting the visa.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 4:41pm On Feb 14, 2018
Congratulations and welcome.
This your name catches my attention because it is my name too

Adedoyin2108:
Good afternoon ladies

Baby girl arrived on the 3rd of January 2018 at Houston Northwest Medical Center through vaginal delivery.
Breakdown of cost:
Dr Xydas: 2000
Hospital: 2000
Induction: 200*
Stress test: 200*
Epidural: 650*
Hospital peadiatrician: 675 (the normal fee is much higher, this is the The Healthy Baby Package rate)
Pathology: 97 (after discount)
Peadiatrician(after discharge): 75
Birth certificate: 75 (plus delivery charge)
Passport: 160 (expedited)
Visa on arrival 190
*these are optional

I got baby's birth certificate 18 days after birth, 22/1; it was delayed cos of the adverse weather. It's 23 per copy but I paid 75 because I ordered it online (http://houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/) and it was delivered to me next business day. To save time, I booked my appointment at the passport agency while waiting for the birth certificate. I booked two appointments actually, with different email addresses just in case [(https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/hurry.html)
When booking the appointment, it's important to indicate that you need the passport same day in order to obtain a visa. After I got the birth certificate, I went for the passport interview the next day, 23/1. My husband wasn't present for the interview, but he was around for the baby's birth so we notarised in the US. If your husband isn't coming to the US, it's best to notarise the document at the US embassy before travelling to the US, notarising at a Nigerian notary public is no longer accepted. I got the US passport same day and sent the email for visa on arrival that night, got approval on Thursday 25/1 (https://immigration.gov.ng/visa-on-arrival/) and travelled on Monday 29/1 via Lufthansa. I had called Lufthansa customer care a day earlier to book a bassinet seat.
I got to Lagos on the 30th, straight to visa on arrival office, presented the approval and other docs, filled a form, paid the fee and baby was stamped in for a month.

NB: Got the Social security number in less than 2 weeks

Thanks to everyone for sharing info on this thread, God bless you all mightily!. To God be the glory!

Check the post of @anunimorigba she posted what it looks like
Ulio:
I see alot has changed concerning renewal. I need some clarifications. Is the itemized bill same as receipt? Cause from what i have it doesnt reflect what i paid just original price of things i used and their "adjustment"
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chibertha(f): 8:14pm On Feb 13, 2018
Sorry for the whole refusal.
don't mind these VOs you will just see them giving visas to persons without jobs or even ties to home.
These guys get there and never return but when they see a genuine person that is when they start showing their talents.
My dear take hart
Omodadi2:
Please leave dustbin for lastma. The first VO only checked a page from my itemized bill, the second didn't check any document, and this one checked doctors correspondence and financial status.

Peruse which documents Biko? My account statements that is exacrly what transpired in my account without lump sum? or my payslip, abi email exchange, or apoitnment letter from doctor? What do I want to change in all these Biko? As I have mentioned, I didn't provide any document from nowhere, well maybe she thinks they are too okay to be true then, but in that wise, will I go and lie?

I later have a thought and can even say that the first VO may not have documented anything related to the money I spent in my first trip cos I feel that should have bin the third VOs empahss too but she don't talk about it at all.

In all, I feel they are all are excuses, they prefer the liars and people that want to go with another thing in mind and and that's why that keeps occurringin the US.

To my surprise, someone was denied today on the basis that she doesn't have someone in Houston that she's going to despite having her accommodations correspondence with concierge including doctors and all. Account statement okay, hubby not following her cos of work here. Normally in the olden days, this person would LLD have bin qualified for a visa because she could afford her bill. Her budget is 17k and has about 12million naira in her account. She's not a. Nairalander, she would have come post her transcript.

At the time she was telling me that she couldn't give further information, she was even stamerring cos I actually accused her of saying my documents are not genuine cos she may need to prove it or tell me how to convince her. After all, there are times that they hold on to documents for review.

I also heard that they are restricting Muslims so reducing number of visas issued to them, is this true?

It is not a new system.for you to do expedited you must be travelling in 2wks or less and need a visa for destination. So just wait till then if you can, if not go ahead and do the normal process it usually will get to you sooner than you would be told because as you know it is a passport agency.
