Godbpraised: i beg dey come, u can use USA Visit to come self and run enter canada. once you enter canada its free food or free house and free car with free money. Oga nobody cares. You can’t stay in Canada and be discouraging others from going there. Come back first before you can convince anyone, and also that it’s difficult for you to make it there will not be same issue for others, go to Canada thread, a lot of Nigerians also make it in Canada so this antics of Nigerians still living abroad and trying to discourage others from coming is so played out. That’s the Koko |

Godbpraised: @ OP i would like to ask u some few questions. How old are you ? if you are above 40years i would advice you stay in Nigeria and make your money and enjoy ur self. people in abroad find it hard to gather that money, you have bills to pay, hydro, water, rent, INTERNET bills, car insurance my brother these are all the witches and wizard we have in the abroad. it is taxes taxes upon taxes. I just read some comments and laugh. even those who are successful are heavily taxed like fat cows. if you buy house for abroad if you wan sell after 25 years government of Canada or U.K or USA would collect 50% from the profit you make, i have been in Canada now for two years. my people oyinbo be like devil them collect N100 from you give u N10. my brother my advice if you can maintain and calm down u would be surprised God can give you insight. however if you are young and not married, say you are 30 years then you can consider traveling out. again this is my advice it should not form a generalized opinion. Again experience is a pleasant teacher. When will you guys abroad walk the talk, come back to Nigeria and settle since you always discourage others from traveling. What is still keeping you abroad |

Donbrig: Good day fellow investors. It seems West Africa is really serious about rolling out a regional currency from January 2020, I thought they have been joking Ohhhh. How is this new currency (ECO) going to affect treasury bills and other investments in Nigeria? Gurus in the house should educate us on this. Source or a joke? |

OgogoroFreak: The value it is supposed to gain is going straight into the pocket of our leaders. Same thing will surely happen in the case of dangote refinery. I just dey laugh Nigerians cos they fail to learn from experience. Same reason they keep voting same set of crooks into power.
IN NIGERIA, ONE WAY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IS TO ALWAYS BELIEVE THINGS WOULD GET WORSE AND MAKE YOUR PLANS ACCORDINGLY.
The average Nigerian man always believes "e go better" but from experience, it always get worst! Lol.. from all the reasons given here by the proponents of dollar crash, I can forecast that dollar won’t be crashing anytime soon. Just wishes and nothing concrete. Lol |

Donbrig: You guys should not write off our economy or naira yet. Lot of things will start happening as from 2020. You guys should be extremely careful with the buying of dollars. The importation of refined oil from overseas, causing huge demand for dollar is the biggest problem our naira and economy is having... Buhari will certainly put a ban on PMS anytime as from next year, and Dangote refinary will pick up with full effect, naira will experience unprecedented strength for the first time in decades. Most Domiciliary account holders will be compelled to maintain local account in naira.
High interest rates on t-bills might not be experienced anytime soon, rates might continue to reduce as our economy gets stronger and stronger with CBN encouraging more foods and goods to be produced locally, that's why CBN granted a whopping sum of 30billion naira to our local palm oil producers.
Nigerian oil marketers are already investing in our local sub refinaries in different states, because they have already seen the hand writing on the wall. In couple of months from now, business will no longer be as usual in Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria. I don’t understand what you mean by domiciliary account holders will be compelled to maintain local account in Naira? Also people pointing out that Dangote refinery will crash dollar (lol), will cbn also stop supporting naira? Will naira be floated too after Dangote refinery starts functioning? |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chigo4u: 1:30pm On Jun 13, 2019 |
DanXplore: The Buhari I know could do that. That nigga has no joy but I like him like that sha. As for the refinery issue, Dangote Refinery, the largest in Africa is expected to commence operations by 2020. It has one of the biggest Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit in the world. The FCC is the heart of any working refinery. You know what that means. Is it a coincidence that this policy is being suggested as we approach 2020?
Banning was quite extreme on my part but notwithstanding, even if PMS/Petroleum products are not banned, what I am certain of is a heavy premium on importation of PMS that will force local patronage.
Nigeria's economy is very sensitive to the supply and demand of petroleum products. Once the apacity to refine petroleum issue is resolved, the other binding macroeconomic parameters may fall in place. E.g, polymer synthesis (like plastics), agriculture (fertilizer), power generation (e.g from local steam turbines, gas turbines, heat recovery stream generators), pharmaceuticals etc.
All these have the potential to offset our trade balance.
Buy dollars o, but buy and sell it with sense. Well let’s wait until Dangote refinery starts functioning but until then, I wouldn’t think it will be possible to ban importation of PMS. It will even shoot up dollar price than reduce it if done now because there would be smuggling. Just remember what happened to rice. It will only increase pump price and dollar price if it’s done. That’s what I think. Also about Dangote refineries being the sole source of pms in Nigeria? Well lol |

kisszhira: The guy has a point. He just gave PMS as an instance.... It's not necessarily that it has to be pms. And you know how tricky this govt can be What other ban can seriously affect dollar rate asides pms? I know rice is already banned |

DanXplore: Continue buying the dollar na. That is what they want. By the time every body now has excess dollars and pounds stored up due to the anticipated float, then follows it with another wicked policy that will ban importation of say PMS which is the most volatile component of the economy, guess what will happen to the demand for the same dollars?
If you must buy dollars, buy it with sense. My 2kobo Ban importation of PMS? Without any working refineries? |

I can see you are the only reasonable guy in this forum who is making "sense". And you are the only guy too whose points aren't funny...every other opinion contrary to yours is funny. Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chigo4u: 3:51pm On Jun 12, 2019 |
It’s really not rocket science. Nigeria is powered by fuel price and an increase in fuel price affects both local and foreign goods, saying that the price of goods reduced from what it was before 2015 is just funny |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chigo4u: 1:45pm On Jun 12, 2019 |
kisszhira: mmhhh...this your logic eh. What about cassava that also went down between 2015 and 2019. So,what do you have to say about the red oil too. The prices of yams too are cheaper compared to 2015... All these are food items needed by atleast the least of the common man in the street... Generally, the prices of food items that are "locally produced" have really dropped compared to 2015. You can hit the street and do more findings bro...
The only problem is there is no money in circulation to buy them... People now work harder with little to show for it...so at the end of the day, despite the prices of things being cheaper compared to 2015, there is little or no money to buy them... Seems like you don’t live in Nigeria. Your talking absolute nonsense. |

Business › Re: Domiciliary Account Opening: Which Bank Has Best To Offer? by chigo4u: 6:40pm On May 31, 2019 |
Cyberknight: I have domiciliary accounts with GTB and Standard Chartered. Had one with Access that I closed.
I explored Diamond and Zenith Bank's offers before I opened with Standard Chartered, and in my opinion the dom account conditions are pretty uniformly lousy all round, but GTB's is among the best of the lot, with the caveat that it depends on what you want to use the account for.
1. Diamond bank does the minimum balance bullshit and for someone like me who receives money from abroad, that's a no-no. GTB allows you to draw your account down to zero if you so wish.
2. In 14 years of operating the accounts, I've never had an issue with any of my transfers to or from the bank.
3. Their charges were OK previously even though they upped them in 2016 or thereabouts. Since I don't make many transfers out, but mainly receive, I can live with that.
4. I prefer their use of a dollar card not directly linked to your account so you first have to transfer funds into it before use. Makes it easier for me to control spending when abroad and also to check fraud to an extent. How about standard Chartered. Are the good, better or worse than Gtb? |

Dera12345: I think google will attend to you faster!!! Why? I can recommend 5 Canadian universties/colleges and none wil be offering your intended course. (Or don’t you have any course on mind?) What you need to do is google all Canadian Universities/colleges offering your intended course of study, secondly, from the school websites you compare the tuition fees of the outlined schools, thirdly, since you are in a hurry and might not be able to wait for emails to be responded, you can put a call across to the graduate admission unit of 3 or 4 schools you must have selected having the least tuition fees. Ask them how long it takes to get a decision after an admission application have been submitted. Lastly, with the duration given from each school, you will then know the school(s) to apply that has both low tuition fee and fast admission feedback!!! Ok thanks, however I’m considering things like cold (I heard some places are extremely cold) and also economy in deciding which region/province to look for school |
