Naija no dey jokeooo... Number plates simply removed. If you still don't pay, they will take one tyre. Very funny,But that's the only way to make people pay in Naija. Tickets on the windscreen no go work. |
Lagos for now, But will eventually retire to Enugu. Coal city for a stress-free life. Cleaner air. |
]Why GEJ come look like Aje na ? Looks like his parents must have caught and sold a lot of fish
snthesis: heheheBecause he's the youngest and his picture is not that old. That pic was probably taken in the "70s. Zik's pic epitomises the real Aje... |
Wao !!. I marvel at Zik's picture. He's the oldest of them all, but, has the youngest picture. That tell us a lot about Zik's background. E don tey wey Zik begin de chop butter. Unlike those who were raised exclusively on Amala and Tuwo for breakfast. |
Vergil: Out of curiosity. Can the same be said to an Igbo state? Any igbo state? That it doesn't belong to igbo pple? Just askingTo answer your question, Yes. We Igbos are enlightened and cosmopolitan enough to know that there is a difference between ownership and indigenuos people. If 60% of people who occupy Enugu and own properties there are non Igbos, then it's fair to accept that we don't own Enugu,But still remain indigenes of Enugu. But that has not happened yet and will not happen in our life time. Yorubas are indigenous to Lagos, but they DON'T own Lagos. Do not confuse the two. It's better not to imagine what will happen if some crazy person wakes up one day and says: All non-Yorubas should leave Lagos. |
@Arysexy, please delete that photo. It's really scary. No kidding.. Jesus !! |
anthony obi is the former governor of osun state...if you ask me, i'll say he's a good man
We would really like to know what you were smoking or sniffing when you posted this comment. Akpako master !!. i could'nt stop laughing. |
kettykin: Excellent point. They should blame Awo for the Igbo invasion of Lagos. That man never wanted us Igbos to go. He valued the Igbos so much that he blackmailed the Northern leaders into keeping Igbos in Nigeria and LAGOS. Awo needed our money to develope Lagos. And he got it after the war by giving every Igboman just 20pounds. It does'nt matter if you had 5000 pounds in your bank account. All you got was 20. Awo kept us in Lagos, wanted us to stay and threatend anybody that encouraged us to leave. And today, Fashola saw what Awo saw.He is doing his best to make sure that Igbos remain in Lagos. However it does not matter anymore. Lagos is already taken. |
this is not the state of Palestine that was overrun by the Jews. No,not at all.WE WILL SHOO YOU OUT LIKE THE NUISANCE YOU ARE.The Norths wisdom in annihilating your ancestors in the 60s was a good one,if not ,you'd be saying the north was a no man's land.Roaches that you are.
Lagos is already overun. Yorubas should just forget about Lagos. Let me remind you that the migration of Igbos and other ethnic groups to Lagos started in the early 70s.That'sjust about 40 years ago and already Lagos is 60% non yoruba. What do you think will happen 100 years from now. Any Yoruba person that does not want to live with Igbos in lagos is free to move to Osun or Ondo. |
dayokanu: I can see how deluded you are.Well, i'm happy that your leaders, Fashola and Tinubu understand what i'm talking about. To you dumbskulls here, i'm just mouthing off. But this is a serious issue.Lagos is a very delicate matter, and the last thing your leaders want is an Hausa/Igbo alliance on the issue of Lagos. Go back to my analysis with Jerusalem. Maybe you will start to get the picture. The bone of contention here is LAGOS. Not Ibadan, Ife or Ondo. Yorubas have to be very carefull on that because we Igbos will align with the hausas if our properties and investments are threatened. however, that will never happen simply because YORUBAS DON'T HAVE THE BALLS. So let's just leave lagos for what it is. Peace, i'm out. |
dayokanu: InsaneNow you're talking. with which military might would you use to keep Lagos in yoruba land. Look at what happened to us, Biafrans. Despite our bravery and chivalry just because of the little drop of oil found in the eastern regio then. Have you noticed that the only people making noise about SNC are yorubas. Your cowardly selves don't stand a chance. In fact your only hope lies with an alliance with the SE and SS. Inotherwords a North/South seperation.I'm not here to chastise the Yorubas. I just want to open your eyes to the realities on the ground. The Bosnians, Croats and Slovenians agreed to go. When it comes to lagos, it's either we allow it to go or we decide to keep it. What the Yorubas want is immaterial. Or do you think the British will come in again. This is 2012 my friend. |
papatosibe: That is a historical fact!I won't quarrel over historical or geographical fact. But, would you try giving Jerusalem back to the Palestinians which is historically and geographically their's ?. In your wishfull thinking, do you think the Hausa's Igbos, Itsekiri's Edos etc will leave all their investments in lagos and pack out just because the Yorubas say so ?. Before Nigeria will be divided, the issue of Lagos and Abuja has to be properly dealt with. The Yorubas in lagos are doomed to be accommodating. |
papatosibe: It has always been about geography and demography. I am surprised it took you this long to realize that.If it has always been about geography and demography, then the Red Indians own the entire USA and Canada. Get real, Bro. P/S: Moderator, stop tossing my comments. this is my 2nd attempt. |
alj harem: Whatever, Lagos port was built by the british isn't it ? Was it built by Igbos CAPITAL N O, NOBEN BRUCE ? !!, Kai... Read between the lines, my friend. It's much deeper than those you just mentioned. I only concur on Dangote. Adenuga is a lackey. We know who owns him. The juice is in the medium level ecomonics and the Igbos control that. |
papatosibe: It has always been about geography and demography. I am surprised it took you this long to realize that.If it's always been about geography and demography, then the Red Indians still own the entire USA and Canada. Get real, Bro. |
I don't know why you people always make such issues an Igbo vs Yoruba issue. Maybe because both tribes are most active on NL. But are guys aware that the sea port that made Lagos what it is today are in the hands of Dangote, Isyaku Rabiu, Ibru and to a lesser extent Ibeto. The first 3 are not Igbos. The Lagos question has gone way beyond the Yorubas. The yoruba claim is nothing but Geography. |

Igbo people keep repping Nigeria in the diaspora while Bluetooth's people are always in the news for ingesting world cocaine record, child molestation, gay assylum and robbery. You would imagine if we are from the same country. Ha!
alj harem:GAY ASYLUM ? !! WTF. Hahahaha..... |
For the upteenth time, i will remind Yorubas that what lagos is today has nothing to do with the Yorubas. Yorubas had no say and still have no say in who lives in Lagos. They did not offer any accommodation, the accommodation was taken. First by the British and later by various military regimes before they decided to move the seat of govt to Abuja. FYI Lagos forms the biggest obstacle to Nigeria splitting up today. |
For a woman, Big Ass. A must. For guys, i don't care. |
Congratulations Adanna !!.Another Igbo son is on his way to becoming the first black prime minister.Mr. Umunna,i think his name is. I don't live in UK but we are proud of you guys. By the way, an Igboman has been both LG chairman and commissioner in Lagos state. So it's not limited to UK alone. |
Hello nairalanders ![]() I am still working on my plan to relocate to nigeria, while studying job offers, I will need your help (especially those based there, since I didn't go back for a couple of yrs) as for the cost of life in Lagos. What price range would you give for those things : -rented flat/house (3 bedrooms), preferably in VI or Lekki -24hrs electricity and water (including fuel cost) - house help / nanny salary (5 days a week, office hours +2) - occasional driver wages (week ends etc.) - gateman salary (if in a house, lives in, not necessary if in a flat) - fuel cost for car - average cost of food for a family of 5 (80% local + 20% imported) - other expenses? Thank you in advance for your help, as this will help me make my decision to move now or wait some more. ,
I would really like to know why you people would want to pay N1.5 to N2m for a 3 bedroom flat at Lekki or VI. In the property section, a 4 bedroom flat in a newhouse is advertised for N550k in Ogba. Ogba is no Ghetto. It's close to Alausa, Ikeja, the seat of government in lagos. We also have the new Ikeja shopping mall where you can get everything you are used to in the US including KFC. I don't quite understand this fascination with VI and Lekki. I've been to both places. Nothing special. Besides it will take you a good 2 hours to get to Broad street from lekki given the traffic situation. I urge those who want to relocate to broaden their horizon. However, if you have the money to throw about, go on and rent a place at Lekki or VI. Personally, i prefer the mainland. |
@lastpage, thank you for your comprehensive reply to "Stillwater". I could'nt have done it any better. May i also add that freedom is me being able to teach my son that it is totally wrong for him to have sex with another man. That men don't marry men and women DON'T marry women. In many schools in central Europe, homosexual sex is taught right from primary school. @moremi2008,let it be known to you that we have laws in Nigeria. And the laws are enforced. The difference with the west lies in the mentality of our people, our culture. People in Russia enjoy the same freedom we enjoy in Nigeria. and Russia is by no means an underdeveloped country. They are right there with USA and surpass many European countries. But the mentality and culture of the people are what makes the difference. When it comes to crime, Newyork and London are much more worse than Lagos.Considering all the dumb idiots in America who carry guns and are even allowed to carry it by law, i feel much more safer in Nigeria. Besides there are many more quiet places one can relocate to outside Lagos. In Nigeria kids don't stab other kids to death. No 17yr old takes a gun to school and use it kill so many fellow students. So, Moremi, i wish you luck wherever you may be in the west. All i need in Naija now is constant power supply. I have never experienced any crime in Naija personally. The choice is yours. |
moremi2008: You, my friend, don't know what freedom is! Abeg, stop calling unnecessary suffer-suffer freedom! Your hard-earned money is better spent in a country with basic amenities, adequate public infrastructure, security and rule of law. I live very comfortably when I visit Nigeria (especially with the maids and drivers) but I don't confuse cheap labor, "highbrow" neighborhoods and generator fumes with freedom. Freedom is NOT living with constant fear of armed robbers; corrupt and violent policemen; unenforceable contracts; TERRIBLE healthcare; interminable traffic; lousy entertainment options; and mediocre but overpriced schools. Please, let's not willfully blind ourselves with a misplaced sense of patriotism or nostalgia. You are free to define what FREEDOM means to you. For me, Lagos and Nigeria gives me a lot more freedom than any place in the west. Having lived in both places for a reasonable lenght of time. Besides, i don't even need to live in "highbrow"neighborhoods to feel and enjoy that freedom. I'm just as comfortable at Agege or Mushin. SENSE OF PATRIOTISM FOR WHERE YOU COME FROM CAN NEVER BE MISPLACED.Besides re-locating to Nigeria has nothing to with patriotism. I'm patriotic when the "Super"Eagles play England. But Patriotism is the last thing on my mind when i'm at a joint in Ikeja sipping my Gulder with point & kill peppersoup. You must be in your 30s. Come back to me when you start moving towards 50. |
@keni and others : I actually came to agree with my husband on the "building a house" part. I was not really in for it at first, but I now understand it can really help us settle better. That's why we are giving ourselves a couple of years more before moving. I just have to accept that I'll be spending a lot of time in traffic
How do you intend to build that house while living in the US or UK ?. Building a house in Nigeria while sitting on your lazy backside in US will cost you twice the normal amount. Here is my advice to you. Your husband has to move first.Find a very cheap accomadation, move in there and then start the construction of a new house. If the funds are available, he can finish the house within a year. Relocating to lagos is all about feelings. You can never have all the situations under controle. The traffic, noise and heat are beyond your controle. But there's no other place on this planet, i would rather be in than Lagos. That feeling of Freedom is not quantifiable. |
Most of the comments here are simply ridiculous. Nothing but grandstanding. One can move and settle in naija with far less than what is being quoted here. You don't have to move to VI, Lekki, Ikoyi or even Magodo. There are many other places you can move to on Lagos mainland and pay much reasonable rent. You can then stay there while building your own house. Many bankers earning Between N100 and N150k a month are living comfortably well in lagos. For me, once i can take care of the heat, i can live anywhere in lagos. If you are waiting for when you are ready before you move, then you may never make that move to relocate. |

CD COVER IS TOTALLY WRONG. TOO POSH FOR A SONG OVER AGEGE BREAD. Should have gone for something comical like bus conductors or area boys munching agege bread somewhere in Lagos. |

Well, i did not bank with IB. But access bank screwed up my IB shares. How the phock did they convert 100,000 shares of IB to 4000 shares of IB. Yes, my account at CSCS still reads 4000 units of Intercontinental bank and not Access bank. My stockbroker has no answers either. |
Dede 1 is 100% correct. I've seen it happen. No Yoruba banker prostrates to an elder bus conductor. |
