No, it is NOT okay. As a matter of fact, I view such men as shameless gold diggers with zero iota of self respect. Most men with our pride won't do that.
Tufiakwa! So many people have never been in a loving relationship their whole lives. Its beyond sad......as for me I can give a man I love one of my cars if I have any to spare and if it makes his life easier. I see nothing wrong with it, its just me being a caring partner. The heart ache from decades of painful 'maga'ing of Nigerian men by girls has turned them to tight fisted paranoid scrooges tongue

You shouldn't be commenting on this thread if you've never had a boyfriend since you obviously don't understand what's being discussed here, goodnight.
Abi oooo! Everybody wants to talk even those that have never dated or even have any friends from the opposite sex. Nairaland is where all the pathetic losers come to shine and be famous cool

I think this topic begs the question of where to draw the line between what you are entitled to and what you shouldn't demand in a relationship. If both the boyfriend and girlfriend are not entitled to each other's possesions just because they are not married then what about loyalty and fidelity in relationships? Why do people feel they are entitled to faithfulness from their partners before marriage? You are not entitled to take each other's property but you fully expect them to remain faithful and loyal to you alone and not date/have sex with others as if you two are already married......ironic isn't it.

but note this: unless you are MARRIED to the man, you are NOT entitled to his cars. IT IS NOT A RIGHT.
But is it ok for a woman to let her boyfriend drive one of her cars because he doesn't have any and maybe his place of work is far? Is it ok for women to do this? Or is it forbidden?

Then you practically nothing about most women, what makes you think most of these girls won't think same if they were in the OP's shoe? as far as I'm concerned, the crime OP committed was not presenting her case in a good manner, forget all the rants you see here, majority of the girls here demand from their boyfriends so don't be f00led, how many of them do you even think are working class ladies? I can bet on one of my balls that most of them are students, so let's try to be realistic when we do things, it's the internet therefore everyone wants to appear perfect when we know that in the real world things aren't that way.
It's not a crime to want to share your boyfriend's stuff so long as you are willing to do same for him, just leave matter abeg.
No mind am. I just saw the post and laughed. No need to type reply. Women hate each other unfortunately cry cry cry angry angry angry and unless you don't interact with them you would know this. What makes him think there is any logic behind their attacking the OP? Infact let him go through the thread again and see the bitterness and vileness in their posts then compare it to the men's post before coming here to talk about how they are doing it for noble reasons.

Yes you are right but that's because they choose to not because it's the girl's God given right to demand such
Sure thing. Spending or doing things for others should be done cos of personal choice because the truth is that once you are an adult, nobody is under any obligation to buy anything for you or make you feel better about yourself or stroke your ego smiley. But relationships, whether between two people dating or between friends or family, tend to work better when those involved sacrifice and do nice things for each other and yes women should spend on men, it shouldn't be one sided. But with the way African men are so patriarchal they interpret a woman spending equally like her boyfriend to mean that she is trying to rule over him or exert authority over him or even to mean that she is desperate for marriage even when she has good intentions. This is why many girls just don't bother to do it and have even started seeing it as something wrong and abnormal.

Should relationships be about that though?
Do you think being in relationship is enough reason to be indebted to someone at that stage of one's life?
No. Not at all. But men are far more willing to spend on girls in real life than they are willing to admit. Especially if she is fine. The finer she is, the more they spend; even without her asking. So what's with the online pretense?

She's a venomous, hate-filled excuse for a human-being. The only thing I'm sorry for is that I seem to have made someone feel sorry for her. There's nothing that I hate more than an evil person. Not just a passive evil person, but a campaigning, persistent evil person. You can check my posts and see if I indulge in silly e-beef. She's the only one who ever managed to make me despise her. I don't think I even hate anyone in real life the way I hate her.
Are you mzdarkskin? You sound so emotional like her.

This thread has gone a long way to show that women are really their own worst enemies, one of the reasons why some men will keep disrespecting the f00lish ones, just imagine ganging up on a fellow woman just to save face/gain favor with the men folk when in reality most of the ones talking crap can't pay a guy a visit without requesting for transport fare, tufiakwa! inferiority complex laced with jealousy is a killer disease.
The day some women will grow some balls and stop seeking approval from online touts who parade their miserable selves as men, that day the men will start respecting you, shediots.
But how else will they get husbands naa? Abi you want them to end up as 45 year old spinsters? huh huh grin grin grin You know the funny thing? If this topic was about a girl not giving her bf her free car you will not see men attacking each other at all on the thread. They will gang up against the girl and call her all sorts of names even when they know very well that they are wrong angry ........but I don't think all women are like that. Its a Nigerian/African thing. I have participated in similar discussions on foreign forums; UK and US forums specifically and the women support each other when it comes to things like this. I believe it is the damage to African women's self esteem that makes them behave and think like this. From birth they are told that God created them to be help mates to men instead of being their own person and furthering their own ambitions. So of course they end up with this warped way of thinking.

My dear, just too many hypocrites everywhere it's actually disgusting.
Majority of men are just noise makers and braggarts. Take what they say seriously at your own peril grin. People that can wash their gf clothes and sponsor her recharge card bills from 100 to 400 level will come online and be forming no-nonsense hard guys. Abegii.
Romance › Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by CHoccolaTE: 5:17am On Nov 09, 2014
Freecocoa; don't get worked up over that car thread because the truth is that what you read on Nairaland is very different from what obtains in real life. Real life relationships; except they are fraught with greed and selfcenterdness, are usually symbiotic. Bf helps gf and vice versa. But online they come here and make noise about how she is not his wife so its very wrong to do anything for her. Start a thread writing of your intention to withhold financial assistance from your poor boyfriend and watch them scream for days about how you are a liability because you don't improve his life. That's just the way of things on this site and I don't know why maybe cos there are so many children or so many introverts online....... Real world is different.
Romance › Re: My Man Has Two Cars, I Trek Around, Isn't This Selfisness? by CHoccolaTE: 3:44pm On Nov 08, 2014
But Nairalanders can lie shaaa.
Real life they do A and on the internet they claim that they did B.

Abegi make we hear word. Men that can dash you thousands and thousands and buy different gifts in the vain hopes that they get sex from you in future are now pretending that they are not world cup champlons of the Maga tournament tongue

Anyways OP, he is under no obligation to give the car to you although you might not like hearing that. But still, he could be nice and let you drive it once in a while. . . . .
Just make sure you don't cook or do any wifely duties for him since he is the type that doesn't fancy living as husband and wife while dating.

[b]Ban me all you want..

All4Naija is KNOWN for how little he thinks of Africans..

Thats the only reason he described the Picture as 'NAUSEATING'..

I have sworn to go at him ANYWHERE I find him trying to run Africans down.

The Boy is a low life filthy Pig.. And I stand by it.

Ban me if you like.. I will be back with a new moniker and continue hunting him down..

You would do well to stay out of this.. If you dont know the History of it, dont get yourself involved..
Abeg leave all4naija alone. I dey gbadun him posts sometimes; they sound progressive. At least the ones that are not the inferiority complex types.

Mods; obinoscopy, mynd44, please ban that animal called Evilseed. The way he jumped on all4naija's case for no reason is baffling.
I don't know why some people think they can just wake up and transfer their frustrations to other members of Nairaland just because NL offers anonymity.

Romance › Re: Women; Becoming Assets Rather Than Liabilities by CHoccolaTE: 9:30am On Oct 30, 2014
Let me add this important bit:
If you want to marry a woman who is self reliant and who doesn't get money or sustainance from you then for your own good and peace of mind, do not expect submissiveness from her.
The whole idea of woman being submissive to her husband is built on the premise that the man will be responsible for her upkeep and daily needs. That was how our grandparents intended it to work when they decided how leadership would work in marriage.
Don't expect that you will live under the same roof with a woman and then demand obedience and submission when you two are contributing equally in the marriage. Infact she is even doing more than you because she also takes care of kids and cooks and cleans and donates to running the family.
Don't expect her to humble herself before you because it won't happen. If she is the considerate or pretencious type, she'd not show you arrogance to your face. She'd wait for you to turn your back or leave the house before discarding whatever rules or laws you made and doing anything she likes instead.

Op, on a lighter note, how many pms have you received? I am just curious oh.
Thank you jare. That was the first thing I thought when I read OP's post. Either this is a jobless and poor dude looking for a gf to support him or its some lonely woman desperately seeking male attention. His/her points had no depth, no meaningful intellectual analysis, nothing in short. Just shallow aspersions.

@zboyd: Men like your hubby are just a delight. I am not even the type that wants to depend on a man but I can appreciate guys that are capable of taking care of themselves and don't need a woman's help.
So many lazy and pussified slobs these days. You want to lead me and at the same time you want me to take care of you and your house with my money.
Pure crap.
