Years ago, I used to imagine me proposing at the ever busy Maryland junction, at Ikeja, after I might have pulled over in traffic, picked up a quarrel with the lady(would have set out a ploy to work with) and asked her to come down from the vehicle and created a scene that would attract onlookers, and eventually do the needful...lol.

I think I have outgrown that kind of crazy stuff, and would prefer a quiet candle light dinner at home or at a luxury restaurant/hotel(that's if I get to go that route though). I think I'm currently a big fan of simplicity and tranquility.

Good day Nairalanders! I'm a corps member currently serving in a north central state. There's this hairdresser in my street whom I did rapour with. I mean just an open conversations. She happened to understand my language, the reason why we talk. To my utmost surprise, my male neighbour called me few weeks ago to tell me that my gists are in the mouths of the people in the street, that the said woman's husband had sent her packing because he claimed she's having an affair with me. That being said,try and avoid too much familiarity and closeness between yourself and the woman henceforth. Remember that you are not the only man in the town that she talks to. Hi everyone. Happy Sunday. I am a guy of 30 years of age who graduated with BA Degree last year. I couldn't go for youth service because of my age. So I decided to get myself an apartment and started hustling and hunting for job. I recently got a job which promise a great future even though the pay at the moment is not much. I also have a girlfriend who school in one of the federal polytechnics. My father is a Pastor, pastoring a small church in the same state I live.

Now the issue at hand is that my father wants me to leave my apartment and move back home (until probably when I am ripe for marriage I guess). He has been on this for quite sometime of which I told him I can't move back home with them at my age and moreover, its a rented apartment (My parents never build house).

Today, he dropped a bomb. He commanded me to pack all my things and move back home to come and help him with d church within 7 days else, he will see to it that I am sacked from my new work in one way or the other and also threaten to pray to God to make my girlfriend jilt me (coz she is one of d reasons why I don't want to move back home according to him).

I don't want to move back home at my age. I always pray against it as I see such act as pointing to a backward step in my life. I have managed to setup my apartment to taste and also aiming to marry my present girlfriend.

Do I yield to my father's "come back home" instruction or do I stand on my decision not to? PLEASE ADVISE.

Lol. Your case reminds me of the late 90s-early 00s when I was still very into music. I remember telling my dad I wanted to go for a show and he told me that if I try it, he pray for a mighty trailer to jam me on the road on my way to the show. He was asking me who I wanted to disgrace by being a musician and asking me if I wanted his colleagues at work to laugh at him... Well, I ended up listening to him and all the people wey dey do music that year, did their thing and some of them became superstars. Several years after(around 2010 or 2011), we were discussing and he said assuming he knew music was going to be this big, he would have allowed me to follow my passion way back.

The thing I'd ask you is this: are you very sure that what you are doing now has prospect? Do you have concrete plans for your future? If yes, stick to your ground and be a man. With time, he would come to respect your decision. At 30, no one should be making decisions for you if they know you are capable of taking proper decisions for yourself.

the key is to focus on your personal development. there is the kind of success that would come to me today,and i would not consider the current ladies i feel are cool as at now,good enough. so the higher you move up,the higher your tastes changes. you can always hit phenomenal success at any stage irrespective of a woman being by your side.

there are people you must have felt were ugly way back,only to see them years later looking very cute. there are also people who look less attractive as they grow older. just a few maintain it all through.

when i was your age,i had a lot of pretty girls crushing on me cos i used to be very cute way back. i was never crazy about any girl. my joy with ladies then was having a pretty girl accepting my proposal and after a while,i'd get tired of it all... but then one way or the other,i grew up and found myself in a situation close to yours but not as bad as yours. the point is,at some point in our lives,we'd always pass through these phases. it's good you're still very young. as you grow older and mature,you'd certainly outgrow it. if you really love her,give her a little space and dont overdo things. you still have a lot of years ahead of you to date other girls who would make it seem like she actually isn't as pretty as you thought and you'd get used to these things.
