Most traditional practices are misogynistic and disgusting.

Yes we have this in Igbo land and more even.
In Yoruba land there are also very disgusting practices against women and well as in Hausa land. Feminism should be embraced in all corners of Nigeria and we will stop hearing stupid shyt like this.
You guys are making it a thing of tribes while forgetting the most important culprits in all of this.

You're married to a crazy person
Wiped your son's poo with your clothes?
shocked
If I talk now they will say I'm a divorce advocate. How do people live with such partners? You can't keep enduring that. Do something about it. Of course as you have said no hitting. But the earlier she starts treating you like a respectable human, the better your marriage will last.
Polygamy is also not the answer. If you end up with another crazy woman into that mix, I don't know how long you could live.

nkwuocha1:
Ijapa888,

Go and bring your wife home. Do all you can to bring her home, sit her down and try to do a heart to heart talk with her.Your wife is not as foul mouthed as mine believe me.This is very natural of the kind of wife I have.

Me:Nkem are you sleeping?
Her: please can you look through the window?
Me(opening the window blinds)
Her;Now look on the roof of Mr Ade's house, you will see me there squatting, Rubbish question!!!

This are very annoying. She doesn't answer all questions tendered to her. There are times I end up asking her questions and then answering them myself. My wife have had me locked in the toilet, she went to market prepared my food then opened the door for me to come and eat all because she was suspecting I was cheating (I've never cheated)!
The last she did was so annoying that I had to break some few plates of food in anger. She used my clothe to wipe off my son's poo,all because I was too busy to clean him up.This same woman starved me for almost three months,I had to swallow my pride travel down to the East and told her parents of my intention to take another wife as it is.Women are foul mouthed, but then beating up your wife to me is cowardly. That's where you messed up,go and apologize. If she continue with her behavior, keep her as a wife but not as a lover, that way you won't care about those flaws anymore.

I get that. My point is she side stepped that. Something that is a very crucial discussion to have about inequality. Only to talk about petty family issues instead. With her platform and the level of her success, as she has recognized that inequality exists, she can lend her voice against it instead of saying women should deal with it. No we aren't supposed to deal with it.

Often times important topics get lost in public discussions of inequality because these successful women are afraid of crushing their partners' or prospective partners' egos that they end up making it about a discussion of how the man is the head of the house when nobody really cares. At least I know I don't care who's head in anyone's house.

If you're interested in talking about inequality, leave your marriage out of it. That microphone wasn't given to you to come massage your husband's ego. If you love and respect him, I'm sure he knows that already.

That's why I love chimamanda. I can bet that she's loving and respectful as all spouses should be to each other but will never use her platform to divert the topic of inequality to one about personal marriage and how other people should run their marriages.

Differential:
I don't think she's saying it's okay. She acknowledges that inequality exists in the workforce (which it does) but that's not the same as A-okay-ing it (which I don't think she's doing). She's saying it's a real problem out there, albeit smart women don't let that deter them from reaching their goals but keep going even if it means working harder. I'm sure women like Mo Abudu and Oprah who're successful in their fields met power struggles along the way but instead of fighting it and complaining they exerted their energy into getting to where there wanted to be.

If she thinks it's okay for her to work 10 times as hard as her male counterparts to been seen as being on the same level with them, then she has totally missed the point of the fight for equality.

Her 'edible caterer' petty household squabble with her husband is not the point for equality and frankly people have moved on from the gist. That's to tell you no one really cares about your business. No one will come to your house to tell you "let the man be the head bla bla bla turn yourself into a neck". You have to live your relationship how it suits you and your partner.

I don't understand why even educated people can't separate their private lives from bigger social issues like feminism.

I still like her and her music BTW.

You commented "looking so available" on your wife Facebook picture? She should have blocked you instead. I know I would.

Also you hit her and you're waiting for her family to come apologizing to you? You're not a nice person. That her mom left them whe they were small doesn't automatically translate to her (your wife) being a bad person. You're the bad guy in this scenario.

ijapa888:
So people want an update on the matter?
I'll provide more than that.
I want to let you in on some of my mistakes so you'd be better equipped when choosing a life partner.

Courtship
I entered into this relationship with wide open eyes despite the fact that i never met her mother.
She never showed up during the wedding and six years on I'm yet to set eyes on her or even engaged her in a phone conversation.
Reason is, she left her four kids (including Wifey) and their Dad at their tender ages and has since not returned.
She is alive and well, remarried and started another family with another man in same Lagos state.
News has it that she now has cancer or had a stroke or both.
Shouldn't i have bailed?
She was replaced with two other women who she grew up to know as step mothers.
Naturally, a mother will focus her energy on the upbringing/welfare of her own child not her step child.
Probably where she lost it.

Physical Abuse
Domestic violence here was initiated by yours faithfully.
No pride derived from doing that but i assure you some situations require a bit of letting out, some release, although they yield no good results.
No sane man in black Africa can pride himself of not having at least fantasized about hitting a foul tongued woman.

Family › Re: Thoughts On Abortion! Will You Do It? by cococandy(f): 3:55pm On Oct 04, 2017
Phew. Thank you
RaggedyAnn:
Would i do it? One good thing is: You're making me ask myself that question. The other should be that I get to answer it without being judged for saying yes (or no). That's the way it should be. The evil thing about pro-lifers is that they take away the right to choose. Asking myself that question means I'm pro-choice on the issue of abortion: I acknowledge that there is a personal question to be asked, and a personal decision to be made.

To commandeer another person's body, exposing it to deformation and health dangers, for a period if nine months without that person's unreserved express consent, must violate a number of fundamental human rights. A woman must want to go through with the pregnancy for it to be deemed viable. People who want to bestow personhood on a zygote take personhood away from an adult female when they deny her the right to her own body. If a zygote is a living person with the right to life and liberty and all, incarcerating a pregnant woman should naturally translate to wrongful imprisonment of a minor. You can't pick and choose when to decide to call it a human being.

That said, abortion is never an easy decision for any woman, but it is ultimately her place to decide whether or not to,do it. And choosing abortion doesn't make her a monster. I can see myself aborting a pregnancy if an AFT showed chromosomal anomalies that would greatly compromise the quality of life of my soon-to-be-born child. That may not be the only scenario that would register with me, but that's just off the top of my head now.

Comment on a rape thread with something like that or similar, then you're one of those that I'm talking about.

In real life, I hope they are not though.
But on NL the type of things they type when a woman gets raped shows they internally empathize with the rapist rather than the victim.
What you type under cover of anonymity shows what you can do when you're in private or in a place where no one knows you.

You are a real product junkie shocked grin

After becoming a mum, I just had to simplify my beauty routine.

Pre-motherhood, I would shave my legs literally every week and also shave my arms. I will then use a body scrub with an exfoliating glove sponge to scrub my entire body. I will then run the bath and soak myself in. Chai. I miss those days grin embarassed

Now, ain't got time for any drama. grin It's a quick shower using Dove exfoliating soap with exfoliating glove sponge and I apply neutrogena skin lotion. When I get bored with neutrogena, I use either a product from body shop (I love their honeymania or coconut with almond milk body butter) or Nivea.

Facial scrub and cleanser (when I remember) is from the clearasil range.

Face primer and brow pencil - marykay
Liquid foundation and powder - MAC
Lipstick - MAC (diva and rebel are my favourites)
mascara - covergirl
Concealer (when I feel like it) - nars

Babythug - thanks for the mention kiss

Says a lot about the level of seriousness of the other non-issues they have.

Alternate account ko, alternate moniker ni.

I don't even know the OP but I hate stupid women who ought not to get into marriage getting into marriage and ruining a man.

And re the picture - the husband doesn't like it, it doesn't matter what you or others think. He doesn't like it and that's the most important thing. If the wife has any iota of respect for the husband she would not have gone on facebook to post the same.

No matter how you try to justify it, it is disrespect. And deleting the facebook counts for nothing, it was after all not until the husband saw the picture she posted on there and commented on it.

I pity your husband seriously. A sensible woman knows her body belongs to the husband. Only irresponsible women think otherwise.
Family › Re: Where The Shoe Pinches; Is This A Case Of Infidelity??? by cococandy(f):

Which husband tries to police what his wife posts on Facebook unless he's insecure.
He should show us a sample of the said picture let's see what's so wrong with it.

And then she deletes the Facebook and he's still mad. One would think that would have solved the whole issue. Just that he's a nag

And yes after they got married, it's still her body. She's not a commodity owned and to be used as pleased by the owner. What a stupid comment you just made.
abescom:
which woman who respects her husband does that? She was told the picture she had on whatsapp should not have been. She removes it and then posted it on facebook because her husband isn't a friend on facebook. Who does that? A senseless, irresponsible woman who should not be married does.

are you for real? It is not her body the day she got married. No one forced her. If anything, it should be a mutually agreed thing. Some of you women of these days are just plainly sick and outright irresponsible.

So you don't like what she posts, then she deletes her Facebook and you're still upset. Why?

Okay tell us who beat who up and why. what led to the domestic violence part. That's more important than Facebook posts and her driving past you to go relieve the nanny on time. You don't gloss over important details and go in depth with irrelevant data and expect us to side with you.

She leaves home early and comes back late because of her bank job. Well I see how that can affect the family. Still doesn't make her a bad person and you both can work on that to reach a suitable agreement if you put aside violence and nit picking on other small issues.

1)Ask her what turns her on. Some women don't like sex because the men think it's only about them having a release. No time invested in making the woman cumm. You fix that!

2) she's right in asking for a condom. It's a contraceptive. Unless you're the one who's going to get pregnant and have more children for the family, don't challenge her wanting a condom. Alternatively you can seek other methods of contraception. That's probably what she got from the doctor that she didn't show you. Maybe she thinks you won't be in support. ITS HER BODY.!!!

3) who has time for chores if they have to leave home at 5:30? Dude are you for real? Clean up after yourself. If she does the same, you guys will barely have much chores to do except big stuff that can be done on off days. I can't imagine doing chores when I have to leave home by 7:00am even. Be realistic.

4) keep prayers short if you totally must have them every morning. Maybe that will convince her to join you. I pray in the car when I'm driving out in the morning with my foot on the gas pedal. No time to kneel and do a ceremony for it.

What type of suggestive message did she post on social media ? Give us an example.

MOST IMPORTANTLY. Go and apologize to your in-laws. If you beat their daughter up and expect them to reach out to you for reconciliation, then it means the whole problem is with you. Unless she's the one who beat you up in which case you're right to expect reconciliation moves from them.
