Ucloaded01: We shall see who has the last laugh. Ports in PH, Calabar and the others you mentioned are useless, they need to be dredged to allow big vessels on their shores and the federal government is not ready to do that. Poor neglect by govt has kept ports in the eastern region almost non functional while those in Lagos remain congested. Those ports are fully functional.. There's also another port in warri.. From Wikipedia: "The Port of Port Harcourt also called PH Port, is a port complex located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The Port first opened in 1913 and can cater to virtually all types of cargo." |

How can a city have the name port in it and in your brain there's no port there. There are also: Calabar port Onne port Warri port.. The SW has only 2 ports which are both in Lagos.. While Eastern Nigeria has 3 ports.. 2 in Port Harcourt and 1 in Calabar. Port Harcourt and Calabar is closer to the SE than Lagos.. They moved to Lagos to enter the SW market not because of the port in Lagos. |

mostob: I believe this team is much more talented than to rely on just 1 or 2 players. Ayinde and Ajibade will be missed no doubt but I still think we have capable replacements for them. Okoronkwo to replace Ajibade on the wing with Tony Payne completing the Midfield with Ucheibe(B2B) and Otu(DM). Kanu as the CF and Oshoala on the wing. Pat or Nicole to replace Tony or we can go with Ebi (where is Zogg?), Ashleigh,Ohale and Alozie.
There are friendlies scheduled to sharpen this team abeg Only person that can replace Ajibade on RW is the person that was playing RB so a new RB is needed. Kanu is 3rd choice after Oshoala and Onumonu.. a pacy striker that can finish is needed. Oshoala, Onumonu won't miss the chances Gift Monday was missing against Zambia. Kanu missed a chance in front of a GK if not she'll have been my 2nd choice. A fit Oshoala is our Messi. Gift Monday could have won Golden boot against Zambia if she was good Finisher. |

Only Superfalcons can stage them very well.. You should have seen the space England was leaving in defense Sweden always had Winger or player on the left wing but no one in CF position to pass to and score tap-in so the winger was always coming into the box to shoot. SA and Zambia will have a player on the wing and another player or players running to the CF position and the player on the wing will always hold the ball then pass unless the player on the is kgatlana cos only kgatlana shoots from the wing the other players mostly look for the pass. |

The match especially 1st half was too free as Sweden will be with the ball attacking then 3 seconds later England is counter attacking then another 4 seconds later Sweden is counter attacking. If England plays like that against any of the 4 African teams probably except Morocco they will concede.. South Africa will score 2 goals in 2 minutes and England will have lost motivation. |

This Ladies have it in them, let's give them the room to succeed not wasting our tax payers money on this Colour People..
Randy Waldrum Failed Whoafully, If it was a Nigerian that messed up in Morocco I bet he or she won't even get to Nigeria before receiving the sack letter... Stop writing anyhow. With Ayinde and Ajibade likely to miss the first 2 world cup matches it will be difficult for any Coach who takes the team to the world cup to qualify out of the group stage. Waldrum main issue was having a clinical Striker and playing Gift Monday as a main Striker was a mistake especially when Kanu and Onumonu were on the pitch unless he was just testing. Another issue was Striker management. Oshoala was just recovering from one injury and would have been better as an early 2nd half sub. Another issue is the defenders playing unnecessary long balls to strikers and losing possession instead of passing. The goals SF conceded were the GK fault so another keeper needs to be scouted and Nnadozie needs to improve. |

They questioned the timings of most people in that race because several people ran a time they had never run before Several. Not only Amusan. They were not questioning just Amusan but the times for several others too which is unusual for so many people to run a personal best in one race. They are journalists and they did their job aribisala0: If it is subtle that means it cannot be proved it is just your opinion which I respect but do not share. Michael Johnson is black most of the athletes were black Also the previous record holder is black The times of other athletes were questioned as well not just Amusan's and most of them were black This is an event that blacks dominate
This has nothing to do with the Whoopi Goldberg that is irrelevant It has everything to do with Who:opi Gold:berg. You're saying a black person cannot be racist to another black person . and I'm telling you that since Whyte people ( j:ews ) considered another set of Whyte people ( g:ermans ) attack on them as racism. then black people of a different ethnicity demeaning another set of black people is also racism. aribisala0: It is like this Somebody let me say a Hausa man scores 390 in JAMB the highest in history Then several others score 379.378,377 etc and someone questions the whole exam but Hausa people get up and say is it because he is Hausa. The query is not just with the 390 but the unusual high scores in THE SAME exam. After investigation it is shown there was nothing wrong with the exam or marking.Fine!!
Does it mean those who questioned were wrong to question or that they did so because they hate Hausa?
What I saw was NOT JUST about Amusan You can't compare academics to sports. People who do well in academics are very consistent. So nobody will question a Hausa student getting 390 in JAMB because the student will also have high WAEC scores and be one of the top students in his/her school. Tobi Amusan has been an elite athlete for years so her performance should not be questioned as long as the doping agencies haven't raised alarm and prevented her from competing. |

With racism you MUST have evidence otherwise you end up sounding foolish.
I do not see any hatred or racism at all. She ran a race and not only her but several of her competitors ran PERSONAL BESTS so there is nothing wrong in raising doubt. If anything raising doubt HELPS HER because after the scrutiny if her record is upheld then her position is stronger. It is subtle racism. KosiGee: There was no racism in the broadcast. I watched the race and I have it on record as well, I’ve watched that race many times since.
I didn’t see any indication of racist commentary, there were all blacks with the exception of Jessica Ennis. It’s silly to even mention racism here but there clearly was bias. They were doubtful of the timing when Amusan ran 12:12. Surprise, shock and disbelief captured their initial reaction. It wasn’t expected, however after the initial bleep about timing, they started to praise her but with some reservations.
Johnson looked at the race again and saw that Harrison, the former world champion with a personal best of 12:20 ran a good race but was given a good gap by Amusan.
I think the shock and doubt were as result of certain inconsistency in Amusan’s time. They expected a smooth transition from her 12:40 during the heat to maybe 12:35, 12:30, 12:28 etc….but Amusan transited from 12:40 to a surprising 12:12 hence the doubts about the time. If Kendra Harrison or Camacho Quin had ran 12:12, I don’t think a few eyebrows would’ve been raised because they have had some consistencies with the times and winnings. No one would expect Amusan to run at such pace…
Even in the finals, Amusan’s odd to win was 21/20. That would’ve made me some money. . I lost money on Camacho Quin. A bet on Amusan with a reasonable sum would’ve made anyone rich….I screen shot this days before the race. When it's the same race it's trib:alism but racism can also be used because Whoo:pi Gol:dberg came under fire for saying what happened to Je:ws wasn't as a result of racism. |

Kibbs: It is infact archaic and nepotic/favoritic. The best players should be selected for the national team and not in any order of home grown or foreign as you suggested. We clearly don’t have the infrastructure to churn out quality players from our local league, I don’t know if we used to but we clearly don’t right now.
Compare that to those who play in advanced countries and play in more competitive leagues where the standard is higher and quality is better. We are not a France or England who can comfortably pick their first XI from their league, we’re far far behind. Even France (men’s team) won the 2018 World Cup with the majority of players playing abroad.
If only you’d just put aside your sentiment and look at the bigger picture, the national team isn’t an audition stage for local players to know who is good enough or not. Get your thoughts right. If we don't select home born players who are playing abroad then we will never ever have the infrastructure. How many foreign born players have academies in Nigeria I am not saying foreign born should not be chosen, I'm saying they shouldn't be 95% of team. Home born players who are the best and are playing abroad should be selected while the best home born players who are playing in Nigeria should be tested and and given a chance. The best foreign born players who want to play for Nigeria should be capped early. |

I have some questions for you. 1. How do you think Falcons would have performed without Plumptre, Alozie,The Payne sisters and other FBs in this tourney?
2. Suggest the home grown players that would have been called up in place of these FBs. For you to ask this shows that our home grown talents are getting worse and if we continue to try to make the team consist of 95% foreign born players then it will get worse. If SF picks players that are below 25 then I don't think we would have done badly cos it's the old players that are making the team look weak. I am not saying foreign born should not be chosen, I'm saying they shouldn't be 95% of team. Home born players who are the best and are playing abroad should be selected while the best home born players who are playing in Nigeria should be tested and and given a chance. lovewins: Selection should be the best Fulani/Hausa born and grown player first before picking best Yoruba and Ibo players.
I just repeated back what you said, only shifted the goal post a bit by adding more bigotry. Sometimes we don't know how ridiculous the things we say sound until we hear them said to us (in another way). The only advocacy should be us having the best players irrespective of where they are born, represent Nigeria. We should then make a better case for creating an enabling environment here in Nigeria to ensure the players based here can live up to their fullest potentials so they can compete favourably with anyone in the world. Simple. If the Fula:ni or ha:usa players are the best in their position and are playing abroad then they should be picked. I am not saying foreign born should not be chosen, I'm saying they shouldn't be 95% of team. Danielnino00: LoL.. Imagine if you apply this rule to a sport like basketball..We would be at the bottom feeder in the sport..
In my opinion, what makes these foreign born players kind of superior to their home born counterparts is the fact that they have been exposed to advanced world class level of grooming in the sport.. They have world class facilities, proper coaching and the likes... It is the same with other sector of the country not just sport... Nigeria has the talents, we just don't have the infrastructure to develop the talents..That's why you see a lot of Nigerians doing well in developed countries where the system provide for them the technology they need... Look at people like Hakeem Olajuwon, Giannis Antetukoumpo, David Alaba, and the numerous athletes of Nigerian origin who have won laurels at the Olympics and world championship for other countries..
The truth is, until we get it right in terms of infrastructure development in sports, we will always need foreign born players in our national teams... And there's no point in segregating them .We need the best of them..... Home born or foreign born, merit should be the first criteria for selection... I am not saying foreign born should not be chosen, I'm saying they shouldn't be 95% of team. Home born players who are the best and are playing abroad should be selected while the best home born players who are playing in Nigeria should be tested and and given a chance. Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by codemaniacs: 9:56pm On Jul 23, 2022 |
lovewins: So what exactly is your argument?
I don't think anybody will have a contrary opinion with you if you're arguing for merit based selection. That is, only the best players get to wear the green jersey. But to clamour for the inclusion of players primarily because of where they were born/grew up is rather archaic. No one is more Nigerian than the other. As long as they have the passport and have shown willingness to represent the country, then the only thing that should count is if they are good enough.
If you other argument is that players born outside Nigeria are better advantaged, then that's another conversation on its own. A player born out of Nigeria will likely get better visibility than the ones here and that isn't any fault of theirs. There are structures already in place to mitigate this. If we take our age group teams seriously and invest in and develop our league, then we are giving players plying their trade in Nigeria a platform to announce their selves. But for considerations to be about where a player is born is a slippery slope, you can start it but cannot finish it. If we start making decisions like that, then others can argue that the team should be representative of all the tribes in Nigeria. We then go into a ditch we can't come out for.
Selection should simply be merit based. QED Selection should be the best Nigerian born and grown players first before picking best foreign born players. The best foreign born players will get capped by their countries. So most times, Nigeria doesn't get the best foreign players, Nigeria gets average foreign born Nigerians. It is not archaic.. |

England Holland Belgium e.t.c. have black people born there but you won't see black women in their national teams like you'll see in the French team because they put their own people first. It is pure foolishness for somr Nigerians to attack other Nigerians who want to see the best home born Nigerians in the national team. There is nothing like equal chance anywhere. |

JohnBullMySon: NFF should stop appointing assistant coaches for coaches. Most local Nigerians I've seen are always insecure around foriegners, before you know it, they begin to feel like they're being intimidated. But, most of the time, they're wrong. Something similar has started brewing in the SE with Peseiro and finindi I heard.
Secondly, no one is obsessed with foriegn born players. Only Plumptre, Onumonu and Payne where starters, and they had a decent performance. The remaining eight players were born in Nigeria mostly.
I'm not in favor of pursuing players who aren't intrested in playing for Nigeria, but let's stop the fixation on where somebody was born over twenty years ago or how she speaks or acts. None of these matter in football. As long as they want to play and they've got a passport, that's all. All foreign based players are the same. No matter where they're born. Any other demarcation inside that is def coming from inferiority complex. All of it matters in everything not just football.... Its about preventing the sidelining or obstruction of home born Nigerians from opportunities within their own country... In most African countries, the richest people are foreigners or foreigners who have citizenship of that country.. It is attitude you call "insecure" , "feeling intimidated" , "Any other demarcation inside that is def coming from inferiority complex" that has prevented such from happening in Nigeria.. Assistants are there to learn from them and to remind them that its NFF that's in control... |

lovewins: I think we have the most problem right now in the middle. We do not have an "attack" problem per se, we just do not have those in the middle who gives us the best advantage moving forward. Onumonu sadly had been the biggest victim as she's had to deal with playing out of position, having to drop too deep to get the balls for the most part and that's why most persons don't fancy her.
If we can sort out the challenge we have in the middle, we'll be a lot better. The problem is finishing and defense. Oshoala, Ajibade, Onumonu or Kanu would have finished at least 1 of the chances Gift Monday was missing. In defense, the person playing RB didn't close down the winger and the other person playing RW ( I think it was Ordega) didn't track back to help the RB the way Ajibade was always tracking back and defending that wing. Against Morocco it was the LW that didn't help the LB and the LB ( Ebi ) was too slow to defend against that player. Then the GoalKeeper made errors against Morocco and Zambia so I think another young Keeper needs to be tested. In summary, SF need fast FullBacks on both wings who close down wingers without tackling them in order to prevent red cards. SF needs another young keeper to keep Nnadozie on her toes. SF needs to practice outside shots. SF needs only Kanu, Oshoala, Onumonu to play as CF. Gift Monday finishing is poor hopefully she improves her finishing as she grows older. |

Football especially female football is getting faster, so we need fast players... the strikers/forwards should be "fit and injury free" Oshoala they should not invite any player that hasn't fully recovered from their injury or any player that does not press should stay on the bench.
