YorubaEmir: And when you graduate with 2:2 , 2:1 , first class, what next?
The mistake we all made (excluding myself) was reading as if there is no life after school and "believing" we will get our dream job as soon as we are done with school. But the question remains, "what if the dream Job is not coming "? Do I posses any skill to put food on my table? For how long will I depend on my parents for money?
My bro, learning a skill to is not secondary.... It shows you're mature enough to face the reality of life! And the reality of life is that you might never get a white collar job And you parents will not always be there
Currently running a masters degree.... And guess what? I'm sponsoring myself... From a white collar? Hello no! But with my programming skills. What am I currently doing with the ASUU break? Investing more time on my programming skills and living a life like a boss Who did you send as your errand boy to create jobs for you? Was government there when your father and mother were fighting kung fu nakéd? If truly you earned that degree you won't need to depend on anyone for a job. Except few folks who read courses like history and inter relations most degree holders can afford to go into a venture with their skilled acquired. |

If you are truly in love with that girl, everything about her should come first!! I can't date someone that doesn't have the welfare of my family at heart!! So, you allowed her to use the money to settle family issues when you could have done it as her boyfriend!!
You are such a pathetic broke ass guy! Free that girl so that she can be with someone that loves and value her!! At boyfriend and Girlfriend level he owes the gf family nothing and even in marriage he owes them nothing. |

Pureety: Op you said she used the money in settling family issues? Its not like she used it to go shopping for herself or on frivolous things!!
To her, family comes first, probably she didn't want to be selfish and use the money on herself while her family are in pressing need of money!!
If this is your reason for breaking up then you were never in love with that lady!! What kind of family issues will just crop up at the exact time the money came in? It is very likely a scam ... |

And that means no help must go to the family members also. No matter how pressing the family issues were she should have sought permission or at least inform the bf. The information science part makes it very interesting degree. What you may not realize is that library related data management via IT is very similar to many information management systems like banks, media houses, hospitals IT system, and many more IT systems out there.
I will advice you go through the course schedule of that department and be sure the "information science" part of the program is good enough for you. Also know of relevant certifications that can boost your career and start preparing for them either financially or academically. |

I can tell you for free reporting directly from Edo State that most northerns I have come across fancy Buhari way way ahead of the new Igbo Messiah called Atiku.
Hate him all you want, there are many northerners who will more than double the votes from the East no matter their hatred for the president.
And most of you gullibly think votes are won by the amount of likes and shares you get on your comments in Nairaland. it's just a matter of time. That day go shock una reach bone. The fact that you see Atiku as Igbo Messiah speaks a lot. Isn't Bubu a Messiah to west cos of Osinbajo? |

onegig: I don't disagree about such ideas. But they cost a fuckton of money.
We can't use an isolated case here to judge the outcome of such process. A lot is special about transmission in Nigeria. A singular 245kv tower would cost average 6million naira . Now imagine you needing 1000 of those to wheel power around from Warri to Abuja at 2 per km. This does not even include cost of the cables let alone workmanship. Clearing of forests. Areas needing reinforced bases , right of way, compensation for demolished buildings on the right of way.
All these costs money. Better to decentralize it for more efficiency. We should be exploring more natural gas and even cleaner coal. While I agree canaanland didn't have to deal with transmission systems and equipments the figure still don't add up. That $16Bn is for under OBJ YarAdua alone oh. Buhari and GEJ still spent billions of USD. and all we have to show is less than 10,000MW of generating capacity. That's unjustifiable sir. |

onegig: You know why we aren't taken serious?
Because the citizens aren't informed and keep on making wild statements. Is it only Power stations you would build? How are you going to wheel the electricity? I can assure you only Nepa poles and transformers for the whole of Surulere would cost $5m.
When you argue things out do it with more background facts. Till today, we lose power because our 331kv transmission lines are not optimal and can't carry large swats of electricity. Also the way things are centralized makes overhauling a big issue. You generate light in Shiroro ship it down to Osogbo for stepping down before you send it to the power grid? Like who designed such shitty plans? Also most equipment were moribund. Old transformers, old service points, old and outdated load sharing centres. Those are where the fund for power went to and as much as people criticize Obasanjo he had an idea and roadmap. Not one single investment had been done in the power sector in 30years before he came. Are you still suprised that 11years after he left power we still have not made much improvement?
Till today, there are still new NIPP equipments that are been used, new NIPP centres that are just been completed.. This doesn't mean that there wasn't corruption involved but CU's case is an isolated issue. I am sure they didn't have to factor in distribution to their costs. So please calm down. Let me put it another way. What is our total generation capacity? No amount of transmission cost still justifies that. I don't think it is a must we have to transmit gas to Kaduna kano and abuja like NNPC is currently doing for some new power plants. We can build the plants close to the source of gas and transmit the power to the north or even Niger republic like we do for Benin republic and Togo. Transmission line are more reliably policed by SCADA around the world and I wonder what is so special about transmission here. |
